Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Hot tea helps too.

N.C. Mts., NC(Zone 6b)

Still waiting. I play a game of solitaire then come back here to see the latest post. will wait and pray with you. I know this is so hard for you.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Listening to kitties snoring, breathing with them to see if I can calm myself down waiting for a call yet not wanting a call just yet

I'm rambling right

Is Rita laying with the kitties? does she think you're sleeping?

This message was edited Jan 29, 2015 12:16 AM

I'll wait with you too, Betty.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Yeah Betty that's tough, they will call you and the surgery will take a few hours, give or take. Although you could call to check on everyone there and make sure Greg & Mel made it ok, if you need an excuse to call. I think I'd do it. It might help calm you down a bit

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I think that's a great idea, Crissy - yes Betty, call

Victoria Harbour, ON

Corrected it Susan, should read
I'm rambling

No, I'll not phone, they all need each other right now, am sure a lot of praying going on

Do know I'll get updated

Except of course if he passes on, am sure they would want to have someone come tell me

So I wait

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I don't mean for you to phone the family - call the hospital - they'll know what's going on, how long the surgery is expected to take (perhaps)...... etc.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I wouldn't be Abe to, I'm a horrible waiter.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I will do as I told Jeff even though Jeff said to call if I was fretting
Said it could be 2-3 hours in operating room

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

ok - 2 to 3 hours - that gives us something - thank you, Betty :-)

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I'd call Jeff.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Right now we all have a purpose,
The Lord and surgeons with Noah
Jeff/julie with Greg/Mel and Kyle
Rita in next room should I need her and you all helping me get through these difficult hours

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

you've been with us, when we've needed you - you're a wonderful person.
and the Lord is with Noah, guiding the surgeons' hands

Victoria Harbour, ON

So tired
As we are nearing the 2 hour I'm nauseated

Verona, ON

Even if you call the hospital Betty as someone suggested they will not divulge anything about Noah's condition especially as I am sure there is a police presence.

Just hang tight, we are here holding your hand, wiping your tears and waiting with you, Continuing to send positive vibes and energies.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

it's been 2 hours since you told us he was prepped and in surgery

Betty I am no nurse but if they have induced a coma things are going to take awhile in surgery.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Induced command on life support
Gave me shivers when Jeff said chaplain was there

That alone is not a good sign

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - if the hospital says 2 to 3 hours, yes, it could very well take longer, but we're here with you, regardless

Betty?

N.C. Mts., NC(Zone 6b)

It's been an hour since she posted

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I know, and I'm really worried about her, and Noah
someone told me she posted stuff on a thread, not this chat, and I can't find it

Thought I pisted, perhaps didn't press send

I'm frightened, look at the time

Bet they don't want to tell me by phone

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Jeff said to call, if you're fretting
it's likely just taking awhile longer.

And the family would stay at the hospital - are they reaching you on a cell, or land line?

I will email firsts

It's bad news, don't want to hear it

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

The Lord is watching over you, and the family.
And we're still here with you, Betty.
Frankly, if he were to die from the injuries, wouldn't that have already happened? I expect that the surgery is just taking longer to repair tissue and bleeding. It didn't hit the heart, that's the main thing.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I know it seems longer, but it's only been 3 hours, and they're with him - it's a good sign

Surgery often takes longer than expected. Especially emergency. They will find all the bleeds and make sure there are no leaks. Probably double check. Closing up takes a while too after cutting through the sternum. I think he will make it.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Exactly

Victoria Harbour, ON

I certainly owe you all a debt of gratitude for keeping vigils with me

Still needing prayers

Jeff just called me

Surgery is over, they just got to go in and peak at Noah
He is covered from head to toe with covers and tubes

Knife missed heart only by fraction, did damage to liver and diaphragm
He is holding his own right now, not out of the woods but not dead
Prayers still welcome

From what Greg/Jeff have learned was he was snowmobiling, stopped at the school where some kids were, there were 3 boys that jumped him
Stole the snowmobile key, not sure about the snowmobile, stabbed him and left him for dead

Noah managed to get to the roadside where he collapsed, someone saw him and called 911

It is said that one police officer laid down on the ground and held him

Noah was in and out, managed to give police a name, maybe names, they've arrested one and charged him with attempted murder, the other two not sure yet

Wouldn't you know, the one charged is Greg/Mel's best friends nephew

Will devastate that family

I will try as best I can to close my eyes for a bit, emotionally drained

Thank you from the bottom of my heart

Perhaps you can all sleep and day shift will take over, am sure they will

Prayers. Prayers. Prayers

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Bless you, Betty, for holding out enough to give us this blessed news - Praise God!
no, not out of the woods yet, but he's holding his own - not on life support I gather.

Yes, the family will be devastated, but they will look after it. Right now, look after yourself, and give yourself a hug from all of us.
I'm breathing again.......... held my breath for so long I wasn't aware of it.

Yes, going to sleep, but first - PRAYERS

Victoria Harbour, ON

Was almost emotionless but now I can't stop shaking and crying
Why do such things happen, why can't kids just be kids

Lyndonville, NY

Got up and checking in....holding and hugging

Induced coma is normal in things like this betty. Especially if patient
Is in severe pain. Helps docs access situation and get
Straight to work repairing damage.

Hugs again

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

((((((((((Betty)))))))))))) soft, gentle hugs..... get yourself some rest - you need to get warm.
Is Rita with you?

I'm going to sleep now........ Noah is resting now, you do the same, Betty

Yes, she hasn't slept either but stayed laying down until I got the call, then sat beside me while Jeff updated

Guess with the /-20,s Debbie they need to keep him from going into major shock

Know just myself how cold I am

Rita has to work this morning, I'll see her off around eight then once doctor does his rounds at 6am and get more of an update I will sleep

Too agitated to do so now

Have a good cry Betty, but not so much you get a headache. I'll be off for a snooze now, but Noah won't be far from my thoughts and prayers. God bless and put vigilant angels around you and yours.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thank you so very much
There are no words

N.C. Mts., NC(Zone 6b)

Betty, so glad you heard. Try to get a little sleep and we will keep praying. I'm going to bed for now.
