She's about to... Happy New Year!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Ladies, I need to ask for prayers for my Daughter in law. She has been really sick since early last year. Last Sept. after many ER visit's, they finally figured out that she needed an emergency surgery for her gall bladder. During the surgery, they noticed a mass in her right ovary, and they said it was nothing. A lot of women get them, and it ill go away. Well, It has not gone away, and it is getting bigger, and she just found out it is ovarian cancer. No telling how long she has had it, but with this Obama care, she is still waiting on a plan for treatment. Seems no one cares about her having cancer, they just don't want to treat her because she is on Obama care.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

oh Linda, thats not right.. I will pray for her, but have her contact the state insurance head person. Please. and report any dr that is not adhering to the policy.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Linda, so sorry for your DIL. It might be better that she contact a cancer center, Certain she'll get better care and I'll bet they know the ins and outs of insurance and/or funding for care.

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

Prayers for your DIL, Linda. This insurance stuff is so frustrating! But she really needs to keep bugging somebody until they take care of her. Tell her not to take "NO" for an answer.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

She has called everyone she can think of, and they tell her she has to follow the steps as per guidelines to her insurance.

Pretty sad!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

That's terrible damn it! My costs have gone up and my coverage has gone down but I can still get the care I need. If the government is taking care of you, you can get the very best of care for free. Not right to be so hamstrung by insurance.

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

I agree with Karen any reliable cancer center should Know all the ins & Outs & offer the treatment that is needed .
a friend of mind went to the one down by chicago Ill & was not turned away , so maybe that should be her 1st step . Lawer Next step If they did not biopsy the 1st time they found it.
well ya all be well & Lk I Hope DIL be fine .

Prayers for your DIL LK. Right now it isn't the insurance coverage...it is the ineptitude and ignorance on the part of the surgeon. At the very least a surgical consult/biopsy should have taken place at the time. A GI/GU Dr/surgeon is probably not qualified to determine whether an ovarian mass is dangerous or not. That determination should have been made by an OB/GYN surgeon.

Your DS needs to speak with an attorney ASAP.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks everyone, she has gotten so frustrated at all the run around she gets. I will tell her to call a cancer center, and see what happens.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

LK thats so awful. I agree with everything being said. Poor lady she must be horrified. I sure would be. The worst thing being they seen it way early enought with the surgery she had and did nothing about it then? Wow. Seems she could sue that doc.
thanks for the comments on my family photos. Love them all.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

lovely family, Ronna.. how fun!

LK, I still think u all need to contact the state insurance committee.. pretty sure your DIL has a case they wouldn't want to go to court over..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

She is going to call a cancer center today to see what they say, if she can't get the help, then her Dad has an attorney they will call.

Glad to hear it Linda. These days you have to be pro-active in your own health care. It's become too much of a business.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Well, I have some good news, about Heather. A few days ago, she was running a high fever, in a lot of pain, and was vomiting a lot, so she went to the ER. They gave her more anti nausea pills, and pain pills, and told her if her symptoms get any worse, get back here ASAP! The next morning her fever was climbing, so Andy took her back to the ER. They did an ultra sound on her ovaries, and told her that the mass she was told was cancer is now gone. The Dr. did more test, and blood work and told her she does not have cancer. That she had a cyst in her ovary, and it ruptured. Cancer masses will not do that. So now they are treating her for the infection, and are trying to get her scheduled for a complete hysterectomy. It was an OB-GYN specialist that told her it was cancer. I am so relieved to hear it is not cancer, and surgery will help her out

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

she has had all our prayers answered, Linda. She will feel better without those cysts,, that is why I had my hysterectomy. I had cysts from the time I was 11 through 38 ( as soon as I had Joanna)

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

Same here, Debra! So glad to hear it is not cancer! We have a lot of good news today! My daughter got a nursing position at the hospital she did her clinicals at. And it is my mom's 82nd birthday today.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Congratulations to your daughter. And happy birthday to your Mom.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I echo what Linda said. Very Happy for you and your family.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Congratulations to your daughter, I am sure she is relieved. A happy 82nd Birthday to your Mom.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

So glad to hear good news for a change. Thank God Heather doesn't have cancer, still that stupid doctor should have checked her out when she had other surgery. I'm sure she is relieved, no cancer!!!

Today is my sister's 84th birthday, been trying to get a hold of her by phone without any luck. But my BIL has been doctoring for the last couple months so I'm sure they are busy with that. Even had him in the Mayo clinic and they couldn't find any problems.

Well, I see my son is busy cleaning out more junk from the car port. It will be so nice to see it all gone. He should make a little money on the aluminum and steel, he wants to get a fishing license and the rest should be mine! I do need another perm, my hair is getting so long and all that grey shows up more when it is long. LOL I have no desire to dye it either.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Pegi ((((hugs)))) so good to see you here... ;)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Happy Birthday to your Sister Pegi!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

It is really warm here, in the 70's and sun shinning brightly. Can't believe it is supposed to be winter and rainy weather.

Hi Debra, glad to see you posting again. I miss a lot of people when they move on to another group and I can't locate them. DG has been very good for me, I learn a lot and when I feel a little sad or moody I can always depend on everyone to brighten my day.

My backyard is calling me so I guess I can go out and do some work. Much rather work outside than inside.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

We had a heat wave today. 54 degrees!!!

I have my pre-op scheduled for Feb 11th. Will find out more about the surgery and time in the hospital at that time.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

What a nice day it was today. It was actually daylight as I drove home from work today too!
tomorrow is supposed to be a record breaker warm day. BBQ yum!
I might be outside mapping out where I want to plant my little double tiger lily bubils that are sprouted now.
They have been in the fridge all fall and winter.. aren't they cute?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Those are so cute. How long do you have to keep them in the fridge?

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Oh I keep them in until they grow those little roots.. I have planted so many and have a lot left. If you want to try some.. look up the double tiger lily ..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

They are pretty. I just don't know if they would grow in this Texas heat.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Well, you could try some in a pot, and when they are done just cut off the off and bring inside during the rest of the summer. Baggie the pot and keep in back of fridge during fall winter .I'll see how well these sprout later this week.

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

Love the Tiger Lilies Debra!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Well, If any of you wanna try some, dmail me. We had a record 73 today, and here I had to work... *whine*
Joe cleaned out the gutters and mowed the leaves off the grass ..and made supper, and did laundry.. I got me a great one, that Joe.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Oh, Linda how wonderful!!!!! What a relief. Hystorectomy. That maybe what my 29 year olddaughter maybe facing too. Poor girl she has endeometreoisis. She has cyst really bad too. So much pain for the poor girl. But I am so happy for Heather. Hope she gets over the crud too.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I remember the dr telling me the cysts swell at menstrual time and go down after, but at the end, they started staying, I am glad Heather can be healed. I hope your daughter can get some help too, Gardenlady.
that endo is very very painful. I had a friend who suffered horrible from it, she ended up having a total hysterectomy to be rid of it, but she had three babies before that happened.

My youngest daughter Joanna gave me a paperwhite kit for Christmas and it is now up and blooming. Think Spring!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

With out 83 degree's we had today, it almost feels like summer. But the temps won't stay warm for long, it will be back to 50 Thursday.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We aren't getting out of the 20s for some time to come. It was a sunny day today though and that makes it feel better.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
