Tired this a.m.
Have catch up
So will gab in a bit

Verona, ON

Roots and Mary Maxim are working together to release both finished items to be sold and patterns and wool at MM. Roots will also be selling a kit for $50.00 that includes a bag, needles, wool and a pattern for I think a beaver, maple leaf.... I can't remember what else.I think also ale to get through MM.

Keeping up with everyone's activities. Just having a few quiet days.

(((Katie)))

Duke had an adventure at the vet. He was there to be sedated per vet's instructions to have his nails cut. 2 techs decided to try to do it without sedation. Long story short on the first paw the tech cut to the quick on 1 nail. That ended that and I will probably have to have him sedated for the rest of his life for this procedure. I am not a happy camper.

Stay safe everyone. Make sure you all do something nice for yourself today.

Awe, so sorry they messed up his nails. They should have know better.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Good Morning.

Betty, perhaps the branches are a gift. Noah might be willing to help you clear them up and it would give you a chance to talk a bit. Then maybe pizza or chinese or his favorite dish at your house rather than out, so he will be at ease.

Katie, sending you good thoughts and big hugs. You are one strong lady and this too shall pass. You have the good thoughts and prayers of your own little community surrounding you.

Susan, be safe in all that snow. It just confirms it is going to be a long winter.

LK, glad your Dad is back from the hospital. Hope things settle and you can visit him soon.

M...good thoughts that your ordeal is soon over.

Dianne, have a little something going out in Friday's mail for you.

I have been to Baton Rouge three or four times lately, and went to La Divina each time in hopes of catching up with Mary.... 8-(....didn't see her on any visit.

Debbie, that ear, chest, throat YUK seems to be all across the country...Do take care of yourself. The heat seems to make it worse...DGS and I have both had it. Being out in the heat was miserable. It literally made it hard to breathe.

Marion, hope Kim gets some answers. I know it is worrisome for you both

Hope this finds you all in good spirits

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

So sorry that happened. It's very aggravating when they don't listen and follow directions, Would certainly have words with the manager. Hello???? We do know our pets.

Verona, ON

Jean been feeling nostalgic the last couple of days so am listening to Willie Nelson's and Ray Price's San San Antonio Rose CD.I will look forward to the surprise. I love them!!

I was furious at the techs. Poor little Duke has so many emotional problems to overcome and has come so far the last thing he or I needed was that. The vet hadn't come in yet when I dropped Duke off - when the vet tried to do his nails herself the last time the poor little guy peed, pooped and puked and she stopped after 2 nails saying the emotional trauma was just not worth it. I'll soon have had Duke for a year and he really has made a lot of progress. No more fear peeing, no quivering and trying to hide when he hears a siren, he now comes when he is called plus remember how I used to have to put him in the truck when I vacuumed., while no more. He even puts his paws on the vacuum when it is running.

Been mulling over a major decision these last few days. Will be looking for your input shortly.

The MM item in the bag to be knitted is a scarf. Forgot to mention it.

Poor duke is right Dianne, just when he thought his world was safe

I love Ray Price, problem with old songs and sentimentality, sometimes it gets me down more than improves my spirits.
Did you get the storms?
Best of luck on the decision Dianne...

Wonder how Katie is doing?

That Judy, where is that girl..need a laugh

Drats Jean, wish you had run into Mary, would have been wonderful..you could have updated us..miss her! Didn't even to get to see her in New Orleans this time.

Soon going to the residence to visit mom and have supper..think she wants to go to the bank.
Wonder what tasty meal we will have? Lol

Another 2 weeks and she will be in the city then sT mike and Kim and Sharon who will have to drop in..won't know what to do with my time

Lyndonville, NY

Thanks LindaKay, I have that crud bad. It is sitting in the top of my chest and can sure feel it. I now have antibiotic.

I have a big pot of chicken soup cooking and cant wait.

Dianne, just heart broken for poor little Duke. We got a nail grinder to do the rabbit, because of the same issue. If Duke is like Izzy was...it is hard to hold them still.

Debbie

Hubby uses a grinder on Molly's nails. He trained her with liver treats and she just sits and hands him her paw. They look so much better than when cut and are smoother too. He is very explicit when he takes them to the groomer, if he does, that they do NOT touch the nails. Molly loves to bathe at the lake too but that will be coming to an end very soon for this year.

He does not use the grinder advertised for this but uses a rechargable Dremel tool which works much better.

Debbie,

Sorry to hear you've been under the weather
Got the sniffles, mine is partly due to this ever changing weather

Rained most of the day

Nice visit with mom, asked if she was anxious to go home in 2 weeks and she said "Not really"

Just spoke to Greg and Mel, they are in Barrie, their 19th wedding anniversary yesterday and are celebrating it with dinner a d a show

Just turned furnace on, going to watch Castle in bed, maybe take something for a cold and say night night

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Ugg Debbie, blast back those antibiotics, and, all the best to you and the fam.
Dh has yet ANOTHER chesty typa deal happening .. he won't go for the antibiotics as he just came off them, and, may be having surgery for the old tonsils in October .. it's just a froggy chest right now ..

Dianne .. guess what .. Zoey is apparently a more than 'twitchy' about her nails, nothing like Duke I am hoping, as, the time is at hand for her .. and .. i SO do NOT want her to hate us because we took her to be groomed!!
What happened to you and Duke today is really quite unforgiveable .. and .. I would hope you didn't have to pay for the appt at least !!

Hope dinner with MoM was good Betty ^_^
Did you get a chance to go to the MaryMaxim site I posted ?
I am thinking of ordering some of the plastic stitchery doo thingies .. pretty easy I am thinking, and, if done correctly, kinda purdy ....

Thinking of you Katie ..

Hi to everyone

Off to SLAY the Scrabble Dragons ^_^

Victoria Harbour, ON

Actually went downstairs to look for quilt/painting magazines with Halloween in it and found last years Mary maxim book

Will have to go check the site..if you don't order from the magazine within the year they don't send it to see

Mom/ aunt Muriel and Sharon go quite often for knitting and quilting kits

Apparently their appliqué and cross stitch quilt kits are few and far between

Yikes, here is hoping Gord doesn't end up with anything or the surgery will have to be put off

Verona, ON

Sure did have to pay for it. The vet wasn't in- she is a personal friend of my mine and is on leave. She owns the practice. Once she is back I will review this with her.

Karen I have heard good things about a dremel. It would work for Diesel but definitely not for Duke. On of the things the vet tech suggested was a thunder shirt. The poor little fella would be in it 24/7 if I followed her suggestions. She did recommend lavender or rescue remedy dabbed on his collar and that is something I will follow up on. I have a lavender spray for the sheets and pillowcases and both dogs dive on the bed when I use it then conk out for a nap.

Have lots of memories of Paris. I grew up not far from there. There is a huge hill leading into Paris on Hwy# 2.One of my uncles, late for his wedding couldn't stop to make his turn off of the hill to the church. His future FIL was standing on the roadside shaking his fist at Uncle George. This was back in the early 30's.My uncle was over an hour late as he was unhappy with the way 1 of his sisters ironed his shirt and demanded it be done again. Not quite as easy as a chore as it is today.

Debbie feel better.
Dianne

hugs for Y'All

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

The liver treats we used are called training treats. They are very intense scent and taste. Our dogs will do anything to get one. They would know right away when we had them out and had their butts planted at our feet.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

"M" Betty is right. If he is sick they will not do surgery. Maybe that is what he is hoping for.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

snow's almost gone - green grass again, and will have summer-like weather this weekend.
This is Calgary...............

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY 'Marion' .. I hope you have tons of fun and CAKE too ^_^

Frost is on the pumpkins here .. just 34F outside and the furnace has been coming on since 2am .. guess we knew it'd come, but, JEEZE so soon !!!
In our defense, temps will rise a bit on the weekend, and, no doubt the 'leaf peekers' will be out and about watching Ma Nature change her underwear.

LindaK .. no doubt DH is in denial .. and, I can't help but feel bad for him .. a tonsilectomy at ANY age is not a nice procedure .. and, he is Mr Healthy .. eats well .. doesn't smoke, has a couple of beer a month .. and exercises regularly, keeps active .. so, bummer all the way around ...

How's Duke Dianne? Sore paw for sure ..
I think when we take Zoey for her 'mini groom'. I will try the calming treats I bought (Gogi Berries) and, I do have Lavendar as well .. she's not s skittish dog, but, her previous owner said she doesn't like 'nail time' .. I have a dog nail grinder, but, as our dogs kinda 'rule the roost' here, the groomer is the only safe alternative .. sigh !!!

Lorna spent the day cutting grass on the cemetery property yesterday .. said she was MORE tired from doing that than the hard physical labour she did all summer !!
Today she will cut another large area, it's just that it's such UNEVEN ground and she shakes about on the big machine .. but, she does an awesome job .. !!

It's my 'Friday to myself' .. Gord is off to his class .. and then gone the rest of the day with the cronies (and DS in there somewhere) .. I have cookies to be 'tweaked', the recipe I made the other day was WAY too bland .. so, have made some adjustment, here's hoping these 'CHUNKY MONKEY' ones turn out with some GOOD flavour ^_^

Best get a cuppa

Be well

Morning all, special mornimg it is, Happy Birthday Marion..
What special is planned for today..something for your new craft room would be nice!
Hope it's the best ever..

"M" turned the heat on last night, so cozy when I got up, sun out but rain later and for tomorrow. Might go to the gourd farm in the a.m.
As long as I'm not picking gourds won't have to worry about the rain.

Let's hope meds clear up what is brewing in Gord..regardless of his not liking to have tonsils out it will many days of sickness in the future.

Hope lorna slows the mower down a tad so there is less of an impact on her body.

Off to finish the 4th twisted pumpkin..not as pretty as not much in the line of fall/Halloween here
Used up some left overs, oh well, am sure Wilena will like it, I will add in a set of wine glasses to make up for it. Lol

Hopefully if I get it done by mid afternoon I will visit with mom then off to penetang to deliver it.

Debbie you feeling any better today?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!

Wow, hard to believe you all up north have frost already. Our low temps for the night is still high 70's! it reached 100 here yesterday.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Thank you ladies. My children and grandchildren are taking me out to dinner to celebrate. LOL my birthday was yesterday but with all that is associated with the 11th now, it is hard to feel very much like celebrating. It actually has become a "low key" day and we celebrate either before or after.

Nope nothing new for the sewing room Betty. Kim gave me the rest of Diana Gabaldon;s Outlander series for my Nook. Now I have to remember I can't just sit and read all the time...would be fun but there is work to be done.

I plan to go see my sister in a couple of weeks. Our family reunion is October 4th and she wants me to help get things ready.

Well off to check the cupboards for items I need to add to the grocery list.....................

happy birthday Marion
have a great day today.
I wish it was my birthday every day , that way i have a legit excuse to eat cake for breakfast everyday.
i thought i posted this morning but it went poof ?
i was up at 5 am. got Tom off to his early day back in Cincy at work.
got kids to school
came home and slept until 9 LOL

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

This is 'supposed to be' a ME day .. so far I have made cookies, and salsa, done laundry and am now heading into the village to the store for some 'forget me s' from groceries yesterday ..
then home to clean and tidy for the weekend ..
I KNOW what they mean when they say 'a woman's work is NEVER done'!

I say, CAKE for breakfast each and everyday LoL

~M~

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I could go with that idea Sue....cake for breakfast every day. Alas the only cake in our house at the moment is Red Velvet....okay but just not my favorite. Kim had orders this past week for 2 of them. She baked a 3rd one for what is referred to as "The Lunch Bunch". It is the group of teachers on the floor where her classroom is located and they are an extremely close group. She managed to bring me home a slice but alas......it is still there.

M I know what you mean about "me" days...some how they always get put aside for something else.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You've both have had quite a day so far and it's not even noon.

Spoke to Geraldine..my friend who lost her 43 year old to cancer last month..she is back in Florida and very distraught. Gabbed about an hour, promised I'd call her tomorrow, hopefully won't forget.

Hal's a side of binding to hand see and can say 'finite' to the pumpkin twister and deliver today

Playing with the heat setting, either too cold or too hot!

Haven't had breakfast yet no wonder I'm hungry, it's noon

Victoria Harbour, ON

I have leftover cake from the residence birthday party, hmmm might still be good, should have really put it in the freezer

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Waving I'm here!

Sorry I missed your big day Marion. Hope your dinner is awesome!

Hi Everybody,

thanks so much for all the prayers and hugs. They really help. Wrote to my doctor yesterday about the ct scan which was done Sunday. He wrote back that the results have still not been processed. Dang. More pain killers prescribed but what I want is to know what is causing the pain and what can be done about it.

A good friend will be in LA visiting his parents. I may go up there for a visit as I have two weeks until the lumpectomy and not much to do. I have lots of books and places to rest. It has been hotter than usual but I manage to find some shade and a breeze. There is a motel I can afford if I decide that's how I want to spend my money but I don't mind the camping. Depending on when my friend in LA I may just head north and find a spot with an ocean breeze.

Poor Duke. These babies go through so much and then someone decides to try something in spite of the instructions they have been given.

Must head up to Kaiser for refill of pain meds. And go to Walmart to see about getting a cheap cell phone - just in case they ever finish with the ct scan results.

hugs, katie

Pretty!

i can smell them.
my workout was brutal. whole body workout. Trainer Tiffany is giving me a new routine to do next week... can't wait...... ( that was sarcasm )
grocery
not much else
just glad its friday.
Tom should be back tonight.
i need to find a volvo dealer and get his car window fixed. Its an early christmas present.
cool weather here today.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Hope you didn't have many 'body tooters' Sue LoL
Lorna and I once watched a trainer put a newbie through what is called 'the kettle bell routine'
About choked on that one, thought the poor lady was gonna keel at one point !!
I hope 'trainer Tiffany' is gentle on ya ..

LOTSA construction noise here, house is vibrating constnatly and these guys are a fair piece away !!
Dogs are MAJORLY unhappy about it all ..
Lorna will be home soon, so, that'll all change .. their focus will be on her and if she brought them a treat home, i always pack 3 milkbones with her lunch so she can treat them when she gets home .. SPOILED !!!!

Enjoy your evening, I think there may be a bonfire on the way to being made ^_^

~M~

Verona, ON

Well I caved and turned the oil heat on - it was 52 in the house. I had already switched out my shorts for sweat pants and gasp socks. I wear shorts even in the winter when I am in the house as the wood heat is so hot.

Happy Birthday Marion!! Believe it or not I have never ever had a piece of Red Velvet cake. Am I really missing something?
D

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Ha ha .. Dianne .. I haven't had Red Velvet cake either, BUT .. I had a TIMMIES Red Velvet muffin during the summer .. it had a SQUOOSH of, I think, cream cheese and icing sugar, in the middle of a very light fluffy RED muffin .. it was not too bad to someone who usually has a bran muffin ( how boring is that and it seems Tims is getting rid of them)

The bonfire is kinda 'on hold' .. wind from the west came up .. even though we'd use the chimenea, it'd be a breezy deal .. guess we'll see after supper ..

Pizza on the make in the oven .. heat for the house .. still have some parts to buy to insure the woodstove burns efficiently .. cording for the door and some kinda fluffy dealy doo that sits under the chimney, catches the kreosote ..

Thinking about Katie ..
:Lotsa others too

HUGZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

A friend sent this....seems folks are coming up with funny movie titles for real, already released movies. The twist is, they all reference things Canadian. Topics like these....

" Tim Horton Hears A Who " and "The War of 1812....The Empire Strikes Back"

https://twitter.com/hashtag/MakeAMovieCanadian?src=hash

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I like "The Green 1.60934 Kilometers". And "The Chronicles of Sarnia".

Morning all,

What a great link Jean, how Canadian

We and our timmies. Lol

Raining here, good day to play or do nothing

Mind is toying with several options, hmmm could drive about 70 miles to gourd farm and quick stop at Cookstown fabric shop

Or put a quilt on the frame and quilt
Both don't open until 10 so means I likely wouldn't get back home until 2 and it would mean another quick trip to visit with mom
There would be Saturday gone

What to do, what to do?

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

LMAO .. good ones and I'm sharing LoL

Well .. we were SUPPOSED to be able to see "Auroraes" in the skies of Canada last night, and, I didn't even complain when Zoey wakened me for a potty break @ 2am .. but, OVERCAST skies greeted me and my barefeet .. so, since it MIGHT carry on for a week, we'll have to hope for clearer skies ..

DH has left for the Market, i WAS going to go, but, these hands and footsies are still in need of hiding .. and .. I have (as always) house stuff to accomplish .. I see one of the furry bodies has done a 'yacker' .. likely Smokey .. I'll try to clean it, but, stuff flat on the floor like that is easier for either Lorna or Gord to do .. I've already treated it ..that RESOLVE works well, and, baking soda, not like it's a huge yak ..

Gonna throw on a coffee, hope everyone has a splendiferous day .. the construction crew has just started up out front !!! Cripes, I thought they'd have Saturday OFF !!!
