Morning

didn't feel like getting out of bed, it's 54, cool side, just wanted to snuggle in bed and fall back asleep, then I said 'self, you have to meet Linda for lunch and get her and Stephanie's fall gift packets ready..

Hmmmm was hard to pick which twister pumpkin I wanted to keep
Fall pumpkin is for Linda and each get a set of wine glasses
am sure they will be thrilled

Now to get Rita and Suzanne's finished and put into gift bags

With coffee in hand I did a tour of the gardens..
almost finished, bit of color but still nice to walk through

lots to cut down before fall..shrubs starting to look like trees, lordy can hardly see the big pond nor the frame, no sense hanging a fall planter until I do 'snip, snip, snip'

Betty, I would like to know how you got two different faces on the pumpkins? They are so pretty!

Listening to the news that Susan in Calgary might be getting a titch of white stuff later today and thinking won't be long before all I've posted is under snow..dreadful thought isn't it, trading cutting grass and trimming for shovelling yuk

LindaKay, the 3 look entirely different, it's just the light and dark squares set in different locations..was hard to pick the one I wanted..lol should have kept all 3 right?

Hidden behind that green is the secret garden, soon time to start putting it's contents away for the winter.

Even thinking that in the next weekend or so I'd best be an early bird and close in the back deck.

Debbie, behind the butterfly is the rose of sharon, didn't completely die so glad I didn't pull it out but neither of the 3 shrubs I had flowered, surely it's too late to flower now

Had company while having my walk-a-bout

Your yard is beautiful Betty. I think your right, that white stuff will be falling before you know it, and it will be time for Warrens gift exchange, and your yearly Christmas work shop!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan, glad to have you home, if working today have a safe drive home, heard they are calling for sleet this afternoon. Any photo's of your camping trip.

"M" glad you aren't any the worse for your fall, it could have ended in broken bones..here's hoping the doctor finds a miracle drug you can take.

LOVE fall, just wish more flowering in the gardens through the next few months..will have a lot of fall mom's in bloom next month..

Must buy more and plant them once I've enjoyed them

guess you've guessed I'm in the spirit of fall..just love it!

Promised myself that poor scarecrow that is hiding in pieces in laundry room will be put together and set outside by weekend..must see where I can purchase a few bales of hay so I can insert the crows I made....now if all those crows cawing away would stand quietly they would make great decorations.

Love all your fall colors in the house Betty.

Holy wahhhh
once October hits there will be so many things to do

Trying to determine when Darlene wants me to drive her to Florida, she has been talking Thanksgiving which is only a month away..means we'd leave October 10th

Having a gathering on Oct 3rd for Darlene before she leaves, then October 4th is Meaford Apple Harvest which I never miss and if I am gone on the 10th I'd like to take all the kids out for supper on the 5th sooooo the next few weeks will be crucial as to getting things done.

I'll have to go back and see when I sent out the workshop packets
and when we started our Santa Warren gift exchange thread..looking forward to both.

Yesterday when I was going through totes to find fall and Halloween items I came across a tote filled with wrapped pressies..think I saw them a few weeks ago but didn't pay much attention..will have to see what is in it.

Ohhh have something interesting to tell you and maybe 'odd' and yet 'not'

remember Cathy, she was always at my house, she'd make herself at home, I'd take her where ever I went because I knew she didn't drive and she was alone and a great outing for her..knew her finances weren't the best so often paid which I loved doing and then one day she never came back, never talked with me, avoids me even though I've attempted to make contact then finally gave up?????

well her mom dropped in a few months ago and yesterday dropped in for a visit..said things at home are terrible, Cathy not talking to her or her dad, dad not talking to mom etc etc

was nice seeing Irene, she's a bit of a gossip but ok when you let all slide by

in our conversation she said ' I've been coming over and chatting with the kitties from time to time, give them treats, keep them company..says she doesn't bother when I'm home but does so when I'm away..too funny

well she must be doing it inside as missy stays inside most of the time lol

my doors are never locked and as you know, if someone needs a place to hang out, my place is as good as any other... soooo kitties are well looked after

I remember one day I was in a hurry and left my coffee cup in the zinc, never a dish in it, in fact I had joing 'fly' and one of her major things is 'spray zincs, sparkle them up and you will feel more like cleaning the kitchen' so when I got home I went to wash the cup, no cup, hmmmm guess I must have done so before going out..likely Irene did it for me 'grin'

That is odd Betty. I don't think I'd like it.... someone avoiding "me" but coming into my house would not feel good to me.

Victoria Harbour, ON

It's her mom who has been coming Pat, not cathy!

Both would use my place as a gettaway

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Sounds like Cathy may be going thru a personality change that may be medically based. I doubt she would be willing to see the MD but she should.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Found out after our friendship ended that she has a habit of this..can't have more than 1 friend at a tome

She was friends with Mel DIL and did same

Oh well, bothered me and guess it still does somewhat, as she was single and couldn't drive it was nice to call and say want to go??

One year it was day after Christmas, Boxing Day (like your black friday) called and asked if she wanted to go shopping in the a.m. In Barrie , we were on our way home about 1:00pm, I dropped her off

Was a sunshine day, felt good about the world, gave her a call and asked if she would like to go to Florida?? She asked when? I said n an hour

Quick packing for both and we're on our way

Miss that as most of my friends need time to think, LAN etc. lol

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I wish I could remember it word for word... something like "Some people come into your life for season or time, moving on when their time ends. Others remain forever. All are valuable and serve a purpose in life. " I know I have the sentiment right although I have butchered the actual quote.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Great way of thinking about life...

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Helps prevent the sadness of friendships that faded away.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That it does

Went pack through time

Last year the workshop thread was started October 8th

Santa Warren Christmas Box thread started October 15th

Not that far away is it

And ooohhh

Went through my Christmas photo's and fond the cutest snowman

Sparkles of course

Gourd holding a sign and sitting on Xmas wreath.

Too cute

Just went to look at the gourd farm website..they list the gourds at $8. Perhaps buying more I could get a few $$ cheaper

Would be light to ship but box would be larger

Might just have to investigate and make a trip to the farm

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Or you could tell us what kind of gourd to get and we could get one ourselves. But we would need to know soon before they are all gone...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That sounds nice Betty.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Likely would be easier for me to do it..give me a bit and I will see .. Something else might come up. Lol. Still have a few week to get my thinking cap on

I thought he was adorable

What a mess I got myself into

Linda asked if I wanted to go to Buffalo Friday afternoon then come home Saturday - put in 24hrs

mentioned this to mom and omg on and on and on about my promising to take her
got to say she's walking good but don't think I should and on the other hand would give her something to look forward to

deep breathe, maybe I can say I just can't go right now
have to think about that one

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Betty. They are so precious! Thanks for sharing the photos.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

If it is a short trip, it might do her some good?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Likely it would, spoke with Linda and she said not a problem

Won't take her unless I get ok from sibblings

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Those babies are just WAY too precious .. and WHAT they have been through !!!
Thanks for sharing ^_^

Umm , does your Mom have nay restrictions re time sitting in a car etc ?
Guess it'll be OK if you have Insurance (in case)

Nurses luncheon was awesome ... 20-22 of us .. and not anyone doing too badly .. one of the older nurse had a 'mini stroke' over the summer, but, you'd never know it .. she was, IS, the knitter of all time .. just beautiful things ..

Not much more happening .. watching my skin peel off is getting downright depressing, specially my feet .. the new skin hurts to walk on !!

Off to bed I go, might catch a couple of hours before the prednisone, goe, 'BING', time to get up !

Thanks for the update on the little darlings Betty.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Mom must have had 2nd thoughts, said she would wait till late October

Didn't tell her I might still go

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh how sweet! We almost lost them and look at them now!! Love it!!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Brrrrrrrrr .. just 49F out there .. but, probably going to be a nice day albeit a bit cloudy ..

DH and I are hopefully driving over to a farmers property to pick up some sweet corn, very LATE this year due to the crummy winter and wet spring ..
Just hope it tastes OK
They have lots of heirloom veggies too .. might pick up some other stuff ..
At any rate, it'll be a nice drive ^_^

Think your Mom is wise to wait Betty ..and, I'm sure she'll find something to occupy her mind this weekend.

Wondering how our ladies 'MIA' are .. Mary fer sure, and a few others ..

Off n runnin (slowly, feet are SORE) !!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

About the same here "M"
Dressing for fall. Brrrr. Even have the sniffles
Big high of 64
Corn is delicious , had some last night, my favorite meal
Enjoy your outing

Yes, not many visits from our dg family but as always they are in my thoughts and prayers

Guess you and I will have to keep on chatting

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Have some corn for us. Our fresh corn has been gone for awhile.

Victoria Harbour, ON

The sweetness just melts in your mouth

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

We love corn but corn sure didn't get cheap this year like it usually does.

Off to dig trenches and glue PVC. I discovered the "flower island" in the semi-circle drive needed to adjusted. Gravel comes on Friday. I'm so excited I'm practically dancing!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

SO, have we gone yet?
Obviously not ..
Dh has the 3 dogs out for a walk, I found a recipe on FBook I actually had ALL the ingredients for, so made some rather nice 'healthy cookies' ..
And, i see by the kitchen countertops that it's going to be a MAKE DOG FOOD day :-(
All the veggies are out, so, i best get to slicing .. guess the farm trip will be this afternoon ..

Pat .. good luck with the drive :-)
