My youngest DD decorated cakes over 20 years ago for several years. Then she got away from it. Her son was married last year and she made the cakes and several other desserts. Since then she has gotten serious about cakes again. They are spectacular too.

Regarding ONE THING Betty can't do.....set the timer when she is cooking so it doesn't burn.
Ducking and running ( did I get the fire extinguisher)
Brat..Debbie's telling tales out of school..yikes when you were here I was so proud I didn't burn one thing but then lots of meals were eaten out. Yep, still have that sign nect to the stove
"Dinner is ready when the fire alarm goes off" "There are 2 choices for dinner, take it or leave it"
"I kiss better than I cook"... what does YOUR sign say?
Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes. It was a very quiet one here today as Norm had to work. My brother and sister-in-law brought me a cake. Yummy spice with cream cheese frosting. The kids will come tomorrow and then Norm is taking me to the seashore for a seafood dinner. We have a place we used to go to when we were dating and he has found that it is still in business.....Of course I woke up to a box of chocolates first thing!!!
I can feel the pounds............
Pat, my sign says
If something tastes funny it's because of the fire extinguisher
Had the sign
I kiss better than I cook, roger said amen to that
Barb, it's the birthday that keeps on giving..lucky girl, what an adorable thing for Norm to do..now I remember why I didn't want him to go when you visited..was getting used to breakfast treats when I got up..lol
Mom is watching baseball, hate to leave her up on her own but so want to go to bed!
OHHHHHhhhhhh... I LOVE your sign!!! I have a single friend who is a GREAT cook and she has the sign "I kiss better than I cook" I told her I would like to take her sign and in little letters below write, "and I'm a GREAT cook!" hehehe
You probably just don't care about cooking. It's a necessary evil, you get hungry and therefore have to cook. It keeps you from doing the things you love!
Norm is such a keeper! Better keep your eye on him Barb!! LOL
Happy birthday Barb. and many many more
not much going on here
did some shopping with Tom and the kids today. Went to the greens. They have a Teavanah there and we all enjoyed the time together ..... first time ! kids are getting used to Tom being around . its a good thing.
apprently Tim is dating a gal....... god i feel sorry for her.... but i do hope they click and she is a good match for him.... he is driving me crazy !
Oh dear Ohio missed a feild goal... Tom is not happy.

Look at the time and I'm still up
I swear Greg can smell my spaghetti sauce
Was almost asleep in the lazyboy when I heard the spider drive in, just behind was Mel and Noah
All took a plate of spaghetti, gabbed and joked around with grandma
Pretended like nothing was amiss with Noah
Before leaving he said he would come spend a night with me
I said why don't I pick you up, well do supper and a sow..he said he'd like that
So now I'm going to try to sleep..don't know who was having more difficulty getting around tonight, mom or me
Sue, sounds as though you've had a great day..hope the situation between you and Tim improves for the benefit of the kids..will take them a bit to adjust to Tom..
Pat, this is my daughters cakery site. She got her artistic talent from her dad's side.

Those are wonderful! I'd be ordering if she lived closer!
Happy Birthday Barb!!! Got in just under the wire. Enjoy your outing with Norm. What a romantic - come. yep he's a keeper.
Sitting here, way overtired but of course sleep won't come. So here I sit listening to PBS channel from Seattle/ Great music on tonight.
Dianne
Morning all
Karen she does an amazing job!
Can hear mom is in a deep sleep, don't want to get up in case I wake her
Won't hurt me to mellow for a bit more
Will try and get out for an hour or so and pick up branches
Greg said he was near port Severn and uprooted trees are many
Likely take her back to the residence after lunch then have the evening to myself
Morning ..
Hard to say what kind of day it is going to be, yet, actually it looks cloudy out there.
I'm kind of a 'hurtin unit', fell while cleaning DH 'MAN CAVE' in the garage .. I sat down on a plastic tote to get a better look at something, and the dang thing (full of papers) cracked and shattered! Probably too many winters in the garage .. anyway, Lorna was frnatic as I was on my replaced hip, and it was kinda 'owie, and, I was in an area with nothing to grab onto except her, and I sure didn't want to do that, so, I sucked it up and got onto my hands and knees, she brought over her walker and, after a couple of stabs at it, I was upright and standing again!!
None the worse for the wear today, thank heaven ..
Should have taken a before and after picture, there's STILL loads of stuff to be tossed though .. gawd help my soul, magazine (hunting and fishing) from the 60s !!!
Maybe when he sees the room that has appeared, he'll get the hint, one can only hope, sure is nice to drive my car in and be able to FULLY open the door to get in and out of it !
The trip to the dump was groddy .. we have a Municipal 'landfill site' .. gads, it is just chuck full of garbage, plastic bags hanging from the trees .. just incredible .. and, flying high over it, all the time .. Bald Eagles .. many many !!!
Betty, was nice that Greg and Mel and Noah came over, I sure hope Noah takes you up on the evening out ^_^
Karen .. yummy cakery !!!
Sue ..is Tom comfortable around the kids? Was it a type of street fair you went to ? Glad you had fun , but, gotta HATE a missed field goal !!! Was it the game 'loser'? Tough break that !
Barb, I hope the celebrations for your birthday continue today .. always seems when a BDay falls on a Saturday the Sunday gets lumped in as well ..
Dianne .. sleep .. the elusive butterfly of us all it seems .. I listened to Boz Scaggs last evening for a bit, a 1970s album .. just too perfect .. but .. no sleep, dang prednisone !
Not sure what is on the agenda today, likely house work :-(
DH won't arrive home until much later this evening from the Sportsman's Show .. called yesterday to say it was going slow ..
OH .. have a very pretty blue/purple bruise on my shin too .. was loading Lorna's truck and forgot about her trailer hitch !! OWWWWWWWWW .....
I do believe this CLUTZ is staying INSIDE today LoL
Enjoy your day everyone
TOODLES
~M~
Owie! "M" those darn trailer hitches are right where you don't expect them, and a fall on your hip? Yikes. Heck of a thing to do to take your mind off your itchies.
When we cleaned out hubbies mom's house we found every scrap of paper they ever had. We had to look at everything too as she had habit of writing notes on what ever was at hand. Some of it info we needed or wanted. Old letters were kind of cool, did find out her grandparents were first cousins explains a bit. Every pay stub she or his dad ever got, things of that nature. One thing the kids liked, a Sunoco Gas map of Michigan, not a single express way on it.
"M", did you have hubbies permission to get rid of his magazines? I know some old magazines are worth some money.
My hubby has a bunch of old heavy metal magazines, and if I even think about getting rid of them he has a fit!
One place we lived, there was a lean-to beside the garage. Hubby used it for a workshop, except it got so bad you couldn't have found a nail in there nor had the room to hammer it to anything. One day I started early in the morning and took every single thing out of there and piled it in the yard. Let me tell you it got cleaned up, sorted out, and put back neat.
Karen, I'm hoping the 'change' in the garage will spur DH on to clean it more !!
LindaK .. before DH left, I told him I was going to start clearing out the garage .. all the cardboard boxes were gonezo, and, if there was something he absolutely coveted, he had best move it, or mark it with an X.
He has CASES of 'stubbie' beer bottles, now, I could see keeping a 6 pack of 'em, but 3-4 CASES?? They stayed :-(
Quite a thing this 'hoarding' .. Lorna has found out her Mom has boxes of old clothing down the basement .. were not talking one or 2, apparently maybe 20 or so .. clothing dating back to the 50s-60s !!! I suggested she find a theatre company to donate them to for costuming, they're always looking for stuff.
So .. we're going out .. Zoey needs food, need propane for the Barbie ..
Won't be long I'm sure .. dull day ..cool ....
T'ra
~M~
Lordy "M", will have to put you and Linda in a room filled with bubble wrap, you are accidents waiting to happen. Thank the Lord nothing is broken
Told mom I'd take her to the residence later but she said she knew I had to clean the yard, cut grass and would be tired tonight so I took her back just in time for mass, she was pleased
Just turned dishwasher on and it's time to get myself outside
It's gorgeous out there, 70 and sunny!
Procrastinating, best I get a move on
Ya, I did get the lawn mowed, dug the perimeter of the new flower island, did as much weed eater as I had battery for (one was fully charged and other only partially used and I still ran them both out). I can hardly wait for next weekend when the gravel comes and this starts to come together!!!
So much to do that I'm torn in all directions, ADD is a terrible thing! I keep telling myself to focus on the "most important thing" and not get distracted. MUCH easier said than done.
My mom was just as bad we found 87 boxes of Avon in the basement. Some of it is Ok but 30 year old make-up? Yuck!.
Karen, some of those bottles a collector might want..make up yuk lol
Hate to think what my children will be saying when they clean this place out
Pat, you are seeing an end to it, by months end you will not know the place.
Lots of visitors today, everyone wants to be outside
Took about 1/2 hr to pick up branches from the storm then Kyle and his girlfriend came to visit.
Had the front done so chatted for a bit.
Got 1/2 the back yard done and Ann came, chatted about her upcoming trip and about a gathering for Darlene before she's Florida bound..took my order for the large wine glasses for snowman painting, gave her a container of spaghetti sauce for her supper and off she went
Having lunch, will get the rug cleaning machine and do the living room throw rug, not sure how it got so dirty, blame it on the furries. Lol then outside to finish back yard and do trimming if I can get the weeder going
That will about do me in
Did get the bindings hand sewn this morning on the fall throw a d twisted pumpkn while I was waiting for mom to get up so will have to round up something to keep me busy tonight.
How's your day going?
It's what my mom always thought and why she collected everything. If you look on Ebay though, there is tons and tons listed with no bidders. My sister ended up donating and giving away.
Someone else's treasure now!
Got the rug done, found the fall wreath over the fireplace, looking out the window, sure need done, hmmm wonder where I can find a window cleaner, must ask around
Should have sat, feel tired now
How about one of those wonderful visitors? Next one thru the door promise yourself you'll hand them a bottle of windex and some papertowels!
Wouldn't that be the way to deter friends from dropping in.
Just finished grass and weeder, hands are all tingly from the vibration but the yard looks beautiful, especially with the sun shinning and making every green in the spectrum sparkle.
2 houses up from me are young coup,ex, sitting out front on verandas enjoying the day, ditches with 2-3 ft of growth and here is a 66 year old in the ditch cleaning so the property looks nicer..
Well worth the effort though.
From sweating all the spin off grass is all over me, think I'll go next door, look for a fresh bread and ice cream cone, come back, bath and Jammie's then relax
Maybe, maybe not. Maybe they would welcome a way to help you Betty!
You are making headway Sue
Think we will both be in bed early Sue
Everything in order here, bath waiting
Looked at what is left in my fall scraps, thought to myself 'put that away'.
Bag didn't go far, right beside me at the couch but that is where it shall stay tonight.
Got home a while ago from galivanting (sp?) all day!!! Norm took me down to the ocean in Massachusetts. There are so many lovely relaxing spots along the shore and then we went to a place called the "Clam Box" that has been in the same place for over 75 years!!! I love good fried clams and these are the best. We drove through the town of Ipswich which is famous for its clam beds and there were so many trees down from the storm that went through yesterday. Some were ancient elms that were so beautiful.... Such a shame but we could not see where the fallen trees had landed on a home which was a good thing. We rode all over the town in Mass we were living in when we married 29 years ago. And then we went and visited the castle where we got married. I took a couple of pictures with my phone and I'll show you when I download it. We stayed completely off the highways - back roads only and it was so relaxing. With Norm working 6 days a week all summer, he needed a day just going where he wanted to go instead of where he was sent. We will be on vacation in a couple of weeks and he is so looking forward to it.
Off to get a bite of dinner - just a sandwich I think after I stuffed myself earlier. LOLOLOL
Perfect day Barb, so glad you got to enjoy the ocean!
Now where are you vacationing?
Sounds like a loverly day Barb. My favorite way to spend some together time.
hi - back from camping - had a great time, weather was gorgeous.
Barb - Happy Belated Birthday!
I have heard of 'IPSWICH' not sure in what context though .. maybe 'witches'? Or perhaps that was Eastwick, I'm always in a muddle with name ^_^
Just glad you had a good day, and, that vacation is approaching .. seems lots of folks are doing a 'STAYCATION' , stay home and take short day excursions to places near them .. makes sense ..
Foggy morning .. and, cool .. have my Nurses luncheon today .. I enjoy it, and then don't .. just so difficult to see us all looking like the walking wounded .. bad knees/hips/backs .. our profession took lots away from us ..
I see William and Catherine (British Royals) are expecting a wee sister or brother for baby George .. truly, they are a beautiful family .. she does remind me of Diana )gone 17 years now)
No repercutions from my 'oopsie' .. a little achy, but otherwise A OK
Hands and body continue to shed :-(
Have found a product DH brought home from the US to be a bit helpful .. AQUAPHOR .. actually I do think it's just vaseline, but, not quite .. it's greasy (ish) but does make my skin feel more hydrated ..
Dianne .. I am starting to feel the effects of NO celebrex :-(
The prednisone helps a bit, but, that 'ache' is creeping back
Best travel
Take care
TOODLES
~M~
Morning everyone!
Aquaphor is a great product for dry skin! I use it for sunburns, and I feel I don't peel as much. Glad it is helping you a bit. When can you go back on the celebrex?
Am thinking once I am off the prednisone (end of Sept) he MIGHT let me go back on it .. MIGHT .. I tend to think they feel celebrex was adding to the symptoms I was having .. if I whine enough, I think I can go back on it :-)
HOUSE FLIES!!! I am about ready to SCREAM here .. little buggers .. !!!!
~M~
How long do they think you will have this allergic reaction? Is it healing at all?
Sounds like you need to close all the doors and windows, and get a good bug spray!
Amanda has the Fall Gourmet from Home Swap open :)
