Rm 294 "Sweet Interruptions" Hotel

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

g'morning!!
So happy Bill went through surgery well - now, to get him those Jello shots!

Jaye - those cats of yours........ what to say?!?! Time out for cats??? That's a new one on me!!!!
He's gone for 4 days? Then those cats will have all your attention :-)

Bob & I are heading out today, camping, for our second last time this year. We'll be back on Sunday.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Have a fun trip Susan!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Bill is up and walking. He really wants to go home today. His back dressing looks nasty, they won't change it until the Dr. sees it. He doesn't come until this afternoon. His discharge is kind of cranberry juice colored. Hope that doesn't gross anyone out. Gradually it will change to beer colored. It has lightened a lot already.

No big plans for me this weekend. I'll have to be the beck and call girl!! ;)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear he will be going home soon!

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

Joycet? will your dh go home first or will he do the rehab thing? I have done the rehab thind four times now since 2010 once for 13 weeks. I never liked any of it but it is the place to be sometimes.

Today is spoiled by two DR appointments. one in the mid morning one right after lunch.I hope the critical wound clinic DR says the ulcer on the bottom of my foot is healed. A tip of my hat to all the nurses that work there. I have only met two and 1/2 nurses I did not like. I gave them all nick names, Nurse Nastym The Boch from he##, and the Nazi Nurse lol if they only knew would they change.

The second is the sleep DR. One way they generate money is to schedule you for a check up way out in the future. That way they can make a full appointment book? Don't get me started.

I am starting to get a hatch of parakeets. OF five eggs two have hatched so far.One is tiny and I don't think is growing but maybe it will we will see.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Sounds like you have lots of birds, Ernie! Tell us about them.

Bill will be going home. No need for rehab. He's been up and walking the halls. They took his catheter out, so he's happy about that. Just waiting to see the doc now. He has a low grade temp. The nurse said not uncommon after surgery.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Yay.. bet he'd be thrilled to be reunited with his old recliner!! Just don't give him a bell, Cookie!

What happened to the other half of a nurse, Ernie? Did you stash the rest in your tomato patch?

I didn't vote for anything that requires tasting, Karen!! I love that winter garden scene, it's hilarious!!! Remind me next year to enter my cats. None I find are as cute as mine.. :D

Marion, me too wonder why she waits till the start of FB season. Must be a ploy used by her lawyer to secure more payout, you think?
You could do a FSU DP!!!

Have a safe camping trip, again Susan!

Kel left, the cats seem to know papa won't be around for a while. Even Temu (Bobbybadcat's lost brother) isn't chasing after anything.

safe camping trip Susan
Ernie wow , glad your ok with the head. Hmmm bear's ??? don't think i would want that kind of encounter.
well went to the gym today. uhg. body is sore .... did i spell that right ?
see i told you tequila jello shots would help Bill :)
Toms birthday this weekend , its actually sept 9 but we are doing his this weekend.
Jaye that sucks on the budget cuts . that is just not right about the food an sleeping arrangments for the officers ? crazy. i don't think i would be happy either.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

LOL Jaye, I have thought about using those colors for my DP.....could use it for several months of the year.

Probably right about it being the girl's lawyers....her aunt who originally started this is known to be a huge Gator supporter.......go figure. Not sure if any payout has occurred so far. Just happen to be the headlines when I got the paper this morning. Just plain sick......

Ernie, I so agree about the "sleep doctors". I have to go every 6 months and keep wondering why? He just repeats what my GP does and for what? I did mention it to my GP and he was chocked the same things were being tested. Now having said that, I wanted to change my supplier for my CPAP equipment (current on lousy!) and it was the "sleep doctor" who held things up for 3 months....I was/am so angry!!!! He just didn't bother to write up the report from 3 months ago. So why is he being paid? Off my soapbox.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Don't know if Bill is going home today. Just was saying he won't be going to rehab. We still haven't seen the doctor today. He will have the deciding vote on discharge papers!!

I had a mini lesson on changing the dressing on his back. The incision looks great. Not red at all.

Sue, did you drink any of Tom's tea?? That was some yummy chai!!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Going to take a short break, then maybe a short nap?? I did some shredding today, got that out of the way for a while. I usually save all that for when they have a shread-a=than at city hall. I have a lot of paper work from doctors I can destroy, will save them for a lot later.

Still too warm out for me but getting a lot of small things done in the house. My niece is on Facebook a lot and she mentioned that an 8th book by Diana Gabaldon is now out. I'm going to be so far behind. Sitll a long ways to go to get a hold of a copy of "Outlander". New book by Jan Karon is ready for me to pick up at the library.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I finished the 8th book. I like Jan Karon too, read the whole Mitford series and have the cook book too. Not that I use it, I'm really not a cook book person.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Woohoo!! We're going home!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Wonderful news Joyce. How well I can still remember the lessons in changing dressings with Ross...that was fine but when they came to caring for the feeding tube..we let us just say I turned very weak kneed. Finally learned (did it for 6 months) but still never got any easier.

Good luck when you get home and be sure to spoil him a little :-)

Pegi, yes there is an 8th book and I still am going through some of the very first ones. Several people at the school where Kim teaches are addicted to the show. It has been suggested we all get together some weekend and each one who comes has to prepare a dish from the Outlander Kitchen website......could fun or total disaster.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Be just my luck, I'd get Haggis. LOL

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Great news, Joyce!!!!!!!!!!

yes i had some of the tea. Very good . that sugar i got also made a nice improvment.
hooray for Bill going home.
watching Ink Master .

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Karen, I am LOL ! No, I don't think haggis would be in the recipes..or at least I haven't seen it so far.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Ink Master? Goodness, you surprise me Sue, thinking of getting a tat? You may have more courage than me! I always want a lotus on my calf.. no guts.
Not ignoring you on the sistahs gathering. I'd be there if I could, and thanks for offering your home. Be nice to see you again!

The huge novels. Outlander, Dragonfly in Amber, Voyager, Drums of Autumn and one of the Lord John novellas were the only books I had read by her. I quit after reading the first Lord John. Looks like I must catch up with some sistahs here! So Pegi, you're not alone.
Will be looking for the others online for sure.. the used ones.

Karen, that's funny!! I'm sure Susan can help you with a good Haggis recipe.
If I'm asked, I'll just bring a bottle of Drambuie!! Good with tea!

Marion, ESPNU just called my LSU team, PRETENDER.. not contender!!! IDIOTS!!! What do they expect from a team that lost so many to the NFL! How dare they!

You all have a good night and Bill, may you have the sleep of a baby in your own bed!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Glad to hear all went well for Bill. I imagine you will be a wonderful nurse Joyce. Keeping you in my prayers and you as well Katie.

Yes, we're both happy to be home!! DS and DGS came over. He's had a lot of phone calls. I imagine if he can find a comfortable position with that tube sticking out of his back and the bag attached he will sleep good. Not so sure about me...I'll be worried that I'm going to roll on his attachments!!

I'm only about 45 minutes from Sue's house, so I can take any overflow! Sue already has tats.

Jaye i have two tats. One on my back a snow leaperd I got when i was a weeeee young girl of 24
Then i have the celtic cross of Jessicas memorial
Hope Bill can get some sleep tonight.
Got Tom his birthday card. I forgot " ack " . so we ran out and got him one. Then i added a gift card for PF Changs.
so he is good . i will get him a cake tomorrow. he can pick it out.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I got hooked on the Mitford series too by Jan Karen. I also have her cookbook, and have never used it. I joined a book club so I could get it for 20 cents. LOL Guess I can go to the library tomorrow and get her book they put on hold for me. So many I request have to come from other libraries.

Love that quilted tree skirt. I have two small ones my sister made for me several years ago. Since I put a small tree up the skirts are perfect. Going to check on the voting.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Forgot to wish Tom a Happy Birthday!!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Most I didn't keep photos of. I'll ask the kids at Thanksgiving if they will take one and send it to me. One I made was cut with a 9 degree wedge ruler. Bonus was the between wedges made a perfect table top cover or tree skirt. Gave to my aunt as she just does small tree.

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

Birds lets see I have 7 cockatiels ,5 Parakeets , 8 working girls, 6 junior misses. A rooster soon to be soup, and 6 Chinese Pheasants. Most all of them with the exception being the pheasants BITE some very hard. The rooster will be soup because he is not nice to the girls. I believe he killed one of the hens so off with his head.

Bummer the motor mount is no longer available for my drill press. now I will have to try to build one. I guess I should check on the price of a new drill press one but to get one as good as that 40 year old one will cost a good deal. At soon to be 72 I don't know how many more holes I need to drill. I guess I need to start crusing craigs list.

Took my new computer back it had issues and I am not keeping a machine that needs to be tinkered with after five days. I think the replacement will be win7 not 8.1.I have been unhappy with the picture program with 8. 7 is bad enough but 8 is the pits.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning and Happy Birthday Barb! Wishing you good health, more time to enjoy your sewing and the best day ever!

Kel had his laptop switched from 8 to Win7 under the advisement of his geek friend. So far, so good Ernie.
May you find a reasonable used drill press, if that's what you're hoping for.
Had a budgie and a cockatiel. When I moved overseas, my BFF babysat the budgie, gave the cockatiel away to another BFF. The babysitter left the toilet seat up and it drowned. With so many cats now, don't think I'll get another. But I miss their vocals.. one even cussed. Thanks to my foul mouth ex.
Poor rooster!

Had a good sleep last night. No snores no farts.. comforter all for myself.
I think I am beginning to like this!

Coffee is on, croissants and cream cheese and I will be back!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL, Jaye! Funny.

Happy Birthday, Barb, and Sue, tell Tom H/B as well.

That's a LOT of birds Ernie! Too bad they have a biting problem. Our sistahs, Judy and Kathy both have birds. I know that Judy's gets to come out of the cage. Not sure about Sissy's though.

We have plenty of room that we could have working girls, but with fox, coyotes, six cats and a dog, I don't think I want the trial of that! Besides....I'm way too lazy! ;o)

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

You lazy, Cookie?? That's news to me!! May Bill have a good day today. Will you have to change his dressing or can he do it by himself?

Happy Birthday Tom. Imagine a chubby Asian doing a breathy Marilyn Monroe Happy Birthday song.. Lol!!

I will miss Kel after I'm through shopping. No help with the bags :( BUT, I can shop without worrying about him picking up unnecessary stuffs! Lol!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I have so many weeds in the garden right now. We've had a lot of rain recently and it's been so humid and 90s so since I didn't have anyone coming to see the garden I just let it go. Bad Cookie! Now I've got to do something or all that will go to seed, if it hasn't already!!

Someone sent me a pink brug cutting last fall and I rooted it over the winter and planted it in the ground this spring. It's loaded with buds now. I had 3 blooms earlier, that's why I know it's pink!! Sissy sent me cuttings this spring and one of those is HUGE! Taller than me. It finally Y'ed and now I see a tiny bud on that. Can't wait to see it! She sent me several. There's another struggling but it Y'ed, too, so maybe I'll see blooms on it, too before the frost gets it. I planted these in the ground. I was going to dig that huge one up but now I'm wondering if the roots will be too much for that. Any thoughts?

Bill can't change his dressing. He can't even see his dressing. However, the Dr. said it didn't need to be changed before his office visit on Tuesday unless it got icky. It still looks great this morning. They have a sheet of clear adhesive over the whole thing so you can see how it looks. They did send us home with stuff to do dressing changes, but as of now, we won't need it. He slept really well last night. Probably cause he slept so lousy the night before.

Geez...feels like I wrote a book!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone.

Thanks for breakfast Jaye!

Ernie, that is a lot of birds. I have one amazon parrot and that is enough. Paco is about 32 years old, and I have had him since 89. He can bite too when he wants too, and he swears once in awhile.

Happy Birthday to Tom and Barb! Hope you both have a great day!

I think everyone has commented on the birds...ditto to each statement. To many cats at this household for us to have birds. We have just acquired another Beta fish for our CATTV and that is enough!!! Of course we do have to keep a lid on the container as one, Bobbi Bad Cat, insist on loving the fish....not!

So happy to hear Bill had a good sleep. I am sure he will improve rapidly now he is back in his own home with you Cookie. You Lazy????? That certainly isn't a word I would use to describe you. Plate overloaded at the moment but lazy? Nah!!!

So the talking heads are at it already Jaye. It is that time of year I guess. Been quiet from the 'Bama Gal...what gives. Shhhh, we will let her sleep for a while. That way she won't hurt herself. :-)

Barb, sending a big hug and birthday wishes. Hope it is a fantastic day. Birthday greetings to Tom also.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I love birds and usually have some. I used to raise cockatiels, and had a blue front amazon also named Paco, hand raised a citron cockatoo from just a few weeks old named Kiwi. Loved them but when we moved there just wasn't room for them, a good friend has them so I can see them when I want to. Now there are just canaries, I enjoy the singing.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Karen, I just came back from the library with Jan Karon's new book "Somewhere Safe With Somebody Good" a Mitford Novel. I'm anxious to start reading it as I enjoyed all the Mitford books so much.

Met a young couple today and we had a nice long talk while enjoying the coolness of the library. She lives in the townhouses just a half block away. Sometimes I get too friendly with strangers, and hope it doesn't come back to bite me. They were so friendly and around my son's age. She has a 12 yr. old who goes to a private school because of all the bullying going on in the schools today. What a shame there is no respect any more.

Stanford lost by 3 pts . :( very sad day
Virgina tech vs Ohio. as of right now its 7-7.
jaye so funny on your bird cussing.
I dated a fellow that had a bird and it said " fire, fire, save the birdie " LOL it sure was cute.
ate to much and am paying for it ..... oh my
Virginia tech just scored a TD.... Tom is not happy.
Ernie wow on so many birds. I had a cockatiel that was a rescue. She only looked at the mirror of herself. ? she had a little mirror. She didn't like the male . So it was a very noisy situation when she had to go to the vet together LOL
welp back to football..... omg i can't believe i just said that !

good morning
coffee is on
i may be heading to the gym later
Ohio lost and boy did they play awful !! even i could see that.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Wrote that down Pegi, thanks, I'll be looking for it.

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

Good morning I have another computer the second in 9 days. I hope this one is better than the last one I got. This one has win 7 the other one had win 8.1 and I thought it was quite awful. I know geeks seem to think 8.1 is great but I think it stinks. I bought 8.1 and put it on my old machine and hated it. After a year it was only a bit better. When I bought my new machine I thought 8.1 was all there was but I guess it makes a difference what store you go to. I found a windows 7 machine at Costco and bought it.

I sold 8 working girls and the mean rooster this morning I loved hearing the rooster but did not like him being mean to the girls so down the road for him. I hated to get rid of the girls but I needed their house and pen for the chicklets who are starting to lay.

We are pre painting the bead board so far so good the cabinets come Thursday next the floors.

Ok off to do something even if it is wrong.

worked in the yard today
dug up plants and replanted them in differant area's down by the house.
whew i m tired !

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Windows 8.1 came with HP computer I bought in March and at first I really thought I was going to have problems. Glad I had tech support because a virus was doing a lot of things that was driving me crazy. I'm not having any trouble now, but I sure would have liked to keep XP.

Temp is 95 and not in a good mood. Some places are getting rain again and lots of Thunder, but it hasn't come down our way.

Ernie, you have a lot of tools, etc do think an old DeWalt table saw is worth anything? My dad bought it used in the 60's and here it sits doing nothing. DH didn't like getting rid of things that belonged to my dad so after all these years I'm stuck with getting rid of things.
