No problem Jaye. I haven't had a Starbucks in a very long time....not since we had a few cups of DD...switched. Besides, I had sold my stock so didn't owe it an allegiance.
I'm here! Had lunch with girlfriends today. One had a birthday today. She turned 70. Had a great time. We stopped at a nursery on the way home and I got a really nice Maidenhair fern. It was $10, but I had bonus bucks from there so I got it for $5. Maybe it will be my next ribbon winner!!
Glad to see you are surviving, Sissy. Do you ever get to sit down? When are the kids arriving?
I'm not crazy about rhubarb, but I love the leaves of it! Especially those giant Canadian ones!!
Where's M today? Hope she's ok.
Waving to all!
Jaye I actually measured how far my computer screen is away from me, because it's a bit further than normal. I have glasses of different strengths stashed all over the house. One for sewing, one for reading, actually two for reading, the ones I carry in my purse are different than the ones I use at home. Still others for the computer. It's what works for me. my Opthamologist said in the beginning I could get script. readers if I wanted but different would work better.
My son's favorite is rhubarb pie. I make him one every year for his birthday on May 19th. This past May I was in a panic because not one of the stores had any because of our cold weather. Our local farm market had a bit he gave me , but not nearly enough. Driving home I was going slow and checking yards. Nearly home and success, I saw some. pulled in, drats no answer at the door. saw a car down the hill and walked down the owners son lived down there. I gave him my sob story and he said go ahead get what ever you need. The next time hubby made jerky, I took him a bag of it, he was very happy to get it.
Every year we hunt for Monarch caterpillars. This year we found three and set them up in a screen top tank with fresh milkweed every day. All three went to chrysalis, and today the first emerged. Amelia is beside herself with excitement. I put some nectar in for it while it pumps up it's wings. and tomorrow we will send it on it's way.
Oh thank you, Karen! I haven't seen any at my property this year. I planted milkweed for them, too, but no luck. I'm glad you're doing your part to make sure they live on!!
Ick. And you know it!!
They're wonderful for all of you, I just don't want them in my garden,
Morning everyone!
Cookie, what don't you want in your garden?
Day lilies.
They took Bill back to prep. They'll call me back when he's ready for surgery to sit with him until they take him.
Sending lots of prayers for you both!
prayers are with you & your family today, Joyce!!
Karen thank you for your input!!! Next year, I shan't be asking for reading glasses, you're right, the store bought ones work and cheaper too!! Lesson learnt.
Never had rhubarb pie.. nor the leaves!
Cookie, prayers go out to Bill and I'm with you. I hate daylilies with a passion!!! NOT!! One of my favorites actually, only the brugs give me headaches.
Today will be one strange day today! I woke up smiling!! Just one of the rare days when I look forward to a household routine!! Strange ain't it?
Then the 'kids' turned that smile into laughter. The youngest decide to be more than his usual rambunctious self! All the males in this house are neutered, and when I let an outside rescue, Garcon in who's not been neutered yet, Temu found his balls strange!! Lolol.. he'd normally check Garcon's treasures out. .sniff or scratch.. but this morning, he kept swiping them!! Poor Garcon couldn't wait to get back outside!
Then Goldie had learnt to play 'sick'. Nothing wrong with her, just wanted attention. She had observed that when Dallas and Cupcake were ill, I'd pick them up and give them more attention. This morning, she gave me those oh I'm so sick eyes.. didn't want to eat.. and after I gave her the get better, treatment.. off she ran to eat!!!
Then a few minutes later, back to acting sick! I swear.. kids!!
Gonna be a strange day, don't know how it will end, but I can take more laughter for sure.
Ah the joy of kitties! After doing the "Daytona 500" mine are asleep for the moment....I think I will enjoy the quiet.
Not to much planned for the day...trip into town. :-(
Daytona 500 without the help of catnip, right Marion?
ROFL!!!
Oh those darn kids! If only you could figure out how to give them time out!
Prayers for Bill sissy
got cortsone shots in my hip joints today, went to fat dr. lost 3 pounds
going to make pear cake today, and 3 o'clock appt. to get my nails done. I chipped a nail
Thank you all for your prayers. Bill is out of surgery, in recovery and doing well. In an hour or so they'll take him to his room. Praise God!!
LK, I have a huge metal rabbit cage that I use for time outs. Temu's a regular that papa Kel nicknamed him Time Out Temu. Forced to do nothing, he sleeps off his punishment. But we have Forrest who'd insist on staying in there when the door's open. So, I'd leave both in there!! Lol!!
Sis Kathy, a chipped nail is easier to fix than a broken back!! Do take it easy please.
Praise God, Cookie. Now give him all the ice cream he wants!!
So glad to hear all is well!
This is one challenge I'd like to do for Christmas.
Lovely HUGE Dresden plate. TY Karen, I'm in love with Dresden plates. Marion, LK.. Thujnder?? We have the rulers, so there's no stopping us!
http://amyscreativeside.com/2010/11/10/easy-dresden-ruler-tutorial/
Bill is in his room now and in some pain. I think they finally got the morphine drip to start working. It's easing up some now. His throat hurts from the tube being down it during his procedure. He just ordered some chicken broth, jello and orange sherbet, so hopefully that stuff will help his throat feel better.
Love that dresden plate Jaye!
Cookie, so glad to hear Bill is doing well. The soreness in his throat will go away in a few days.
Just hear Joan Rivers died.
Cookie, glad everything is doing better. Yummm orange sherbet, love that stuff.
Jaye, I am up to this is anyone else is. Are you thinking an exchange or just for ourselves? Or maybe swap fabrics for the piece? Meez be in.
Karen, that is beautiful!
Entered this and another in the DG fair. Go vote please.
Love it Karen. Which category, arts and crafts or quilts?
Marion, more for ourselves, using whatever we have. NO purchasing of other fabrics so it will really be one scrappy one, what do my sistahs think?
Like this we won't be too stressed to please our partner.
Just for ourselves.
Ernie, Linda can join the fun too if she quilts.
Poor Baby Bill.. that soreness will go away.
Joan Rivers had lived her life the way she chose it. She gained my respect for daring to speak her mind though others may see her as rude. God be with Melissa at this time.
Quilts.
Checking it out now.
Done for both!!
Me too! Also loved Robin's quilt. Great job Karen!!!
Jaye, I saved that page for the dresden! I love it ^_^ and I think I have some of those fabrics.
got to dig out my plates from the swap and work on them. kept changing my mind on background fabric, got frustrated, gave up.
which quilt is Robins?
I need to do something for myself Thunder! That would be an awesome project don't you think? I may have to use LSU colors which I have plenty of!!!
Bill gets Jello shots in the hospital !!! wow..... i didn't know they did that. :)
so happy he is out of surgery and doing well. give him a hug for me.
Nice work Karen that is so pretty.
looked at puppies at the puppy pound. We may have found one. pit/ jack russel mix.
still working on the pro's and cons . i even saw a kitty that i liked.
Tom is watching tennis and football. he is bouncing back and forth .
ok ladies we should start talking about the gathering ? i know many of you have much other things going on in life but let me put a bug in your ear. JUNE . First week of June.
Jaye yes someone in this house quilts. There are several hanging on the walls. One hangs in my bedroom and one is on my bed. Several are folded and sit on half ladder things. Our family room has two sewing machines in it. In 1999 we added about 400 sq feet to the family so she could quilt in a room with a big bay window. This way she can and often listens to the tv at the same time. Usually every Tuesday a bunch of hens come here and sew and squawk. I usually hit the road on Tuesdays lol.
Had a crash in my shop tonight I tried to lift my drill press and tipped it over . It tried to crush me but I was to fast for it. I managed to lose a shirt in the deal though. I broke the motor mount so poopola. Anyway when the thing fell it grazed my head and hooked my shirt ripping it down the front. I tried to lift it but no soap. Tomorrow I will get some help and stand it up and make sure it can be repaired before ordering any new parts.
I talked to a friend tonight he is an Alaskan Native the one I fished with a month ago. He told me about a bear encounter. It was a big brownie. George met him face to face and yelled at him the bear growled and George fired his 44 magnum which sent the bear running. I would have wet myself. George has ice water in his veins when it comes to that kind of episode.
Tonight my new computer had a hic up and refused to get on the net. I got the provider to send a technician and he could do nothing he told me my wifi card was bad. Sheesh I know they build stuff to throw away but I have only had this thing for about 10 days. I would think it should last longer than that. The poof it finely started up by itself.
JordanKJ if you really want to lose wt do what I did. Stomach bypass surgery. I am between 95 and 100 pounds gone. My a1c was 10.5 and now it is 6,2 without insuln of any type. It may not be for everybody but ut was for me. I know weigh about what I did before diabetes,
Ernie, I am glad to hear your not injured from the drill press falling. I think I would have to change pants as well after coming face to face with a bear.
Good morning Sistahs and brother!!
A great start this morning, came in here and within seconds, I am in stitches!!! Woke up sleeping beauty..
Brother Ernie... hens?? ROFL!!!! Yep, I would have left too if they don't need the rooster!!!
Lolol!!! She's truly fortunate that she has quilting buddies close by.
I remember my late MIL (first marriage) that had quilting sessions in her living room over a large frame, with her inlaws and old neigbours. They do squawk too!! ROFL again!!!
Goodness, yes, LK is right. IF that's me confronting a bear, I'd be throwing away the clothes I had on!
Probably your card went through a miserly quality control.
I have a couple of friends who went through bypass surgery and they had lost so much weight, but they had wonderful insurance and don't cost that much.
Kelvin will be gone for 4 days. Off to another state prison, for extended job education with four other colleagues. He's fussing for the state is so tight and they won't be staying in a hotel, but prison cells! Plus, they'd be served free food.. prison cuisine of course!!
At least they'd have private bathrooms!! Lolol!! There goes my weird sense of humor.
This will be the first time I'd be left totally on my own for more than a day.
Arrangements had been made with his cousin and a male friend that I can call on them if I need, 24/7.
Ex in Louisiana, will be checking on me in the evenings, and ex said if I don't answer, he'd call 911!!! It takes a divorce for this man to appreciate me? ROFL!!
Haven't had my coffee yet, think I'll fix some strong cup of tea instead. Ginger tea to clear up my head. Was up early to pack his suitcase. Left up to him, he'd forget his toiletries and extra underwear..
He'd have to make a will before he leaves!!! Lolol!!
I pray that you all have a fantastic weekend.
Well at least Ernie referred to the ladies as "hens" and not "biddies".....guess that is something. LOL Whoopee and quilter associated (well in a way) in the group! Add me to the list of changing clothes..yikes!!!
Jaye, I like the idea of doing it for ourselves. I too have saved the page with instructions and also joined her blog for updates. I thought about doing one for my dining room table as soon as I saw the pictures. LSU colors?.......now why am I not surprised?
Well wouldn't you know it, football season has started and guess what? The girl has started the uproar all over again re: Jameis......there maybe something there BUT it is funny you hear nothing as soon as the season is over then let it start back and....................just saying.
Hoping Kim and I have a quiet weekend........well at least I can hope.
Cookie, glad to hear Bill was doing better last night.
Kathy, are you behaving yourself?
Waving to everyone else...off to vote on the fair site.
Went to the fair site and voted in every one. Can hardly believe that I voted for cats in the pet section..you can vote first, second and third. Not a cat person...don't dislike them, have even had a couple.. but prefer dogs and birds.
Any how was fun looking at all the entries and voting.
