What did you do to your knee?

Do you still need the wheel chair I have? I think you said she has one that folds up? Did you get to the quit shop?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Mornimg all,

Didn't get to quilt shop, zip lining took longer than anticipated but that is ok, no room anyway, likely difficult to even fit in 1 yd of fabric..

Hope your knee isn't too bothersome ..

Morning everyone. I am going to have to readjust to the new schedule at this house....Kim went back to work this morning.

Zipling! Oh my. Did it in Costa Rica and I loved it.....don't think I will do it again as I am older and wiser. At least I think I am.

Katie, good news from the doctors and travel safely, please.

Betty, your knee? Do I dare ask what you have done now? :-)

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Looks like it's a BAKING day here ..
DH bought blueberries last week, and I won't see them go bad .. so .. have the easiest Cobbler in creation in the oven .. and, where is DH right now ........????? Picking strawberries !!
So, either a pie or a coffee cake is on the agenda .. PLUS we have some 'dotty bananas' that would like to be made into a loaf ..
Good thing I don't mind baking ..

I hear you on getting into a new schedule Marion .. when Lorna went back to work it was a real 'wake up call' .. since the dogs get up when she gets up, I do too ..
Are the kids back in school as well??
Our DGD and her Mom have gone south to Minneapolis for a shopping trip .. DS and DGS are
'baching it' .. something tells me we'll be seeing them fairly soon LoL

Best get busy with that Banana loaf ..

Toodles

~M~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Bet your house smells good? I love banana bread!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

If I ever get the oven installed (cabinet issues still) I am going to bake some banana bread...love it toasted with cream cheese! Blueberry cobbler sounds yummy but unfortunately all my berries are eaten by the GDs when they visit. No problem as I am so happy they love fruit.

Funny how one can get off schedule in 8 weeks but this household does. Kitties haven't adjusted but then it is only the first day back to work. Oh how I hope this year is better than last.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Must be the day for it Banana bread on my agenda too.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sure hope you get your cabinets and oven installed soon Marion!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

HATE to see fruit go to waste .. I can freeze the bananas, but then DH gets on my case about 'my frozen banana ranch' LoL .. because of their shape they tend to eascape from the freezer.

Rain is impending ..

Think another coffee is on my agenda ^_^

A quick update. GSJordan had his surgery on Wednesday. The surgery took almost twice as long as expected as the spinal cord was severely congested and they had to remove more bone than was first planned. Jordan will have a 7 to 8 inch scar on the back of his head and neck, but should recover just fine. He is home and as grumpy as any 19, soon to be 20 year old can be on restricted activity and bed rest.

Dr said it was so small an opening to the brain, that it could, if left unattended, cause brain damage and possibly permanent paralysis. Thanks to you all for your kind thoughts and prayers for him. I do greatly appreciate you all.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear surgery went well. Prayers for a speedy recovery.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

YAY Jordan !
My cousin who has Chiari ( and had the surgery has asked how he did .. will tell her all is A OK!

Hopefully, Betty, Rita, Linda and Suzanne had a super day .. betcha they're tired tonight.

Lotsa rain happening here in 'mini deluges', Zoey is HATING the thunder ..

Best get to bed, busy day tomorrow (cute vet) LoL

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - if I were "one of four" for the bathroom in the morning, I'd be first in, and through in 2 minutes....... no moss grows on MY feet in the morning!!

yaaaaay for Jordan's surgery going well!!

well, cleared a lot of my sewing area, and feeling about ready to do some quilting, embroidery, etc!
My soon-to-be-born grandson is giving me the motivation! Yup, have a friend's baby quilt to do, then a whole bunch of Round Robin quilts to do, and send off! Yes, I'm back onto feeling up to all of this. I may take some with me when we go RV'ing on August 5th :-)
We're gone for 5 nights - and I'm REALLY ready to go for a break!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you have your motivation back Susan!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all,

Just jumped into bed, long day for sure ..remember how when travelling with kids when they tired they would do nothing but laugh at anything and drive you crazy, well that was Linda/Suzanne tonight!

What a day

Went for a tour at South Fork, outskirt of Dallas where parts of Dallas was/is filmed.

Truly enjoyed it ..saw how /where the series was filmed both for the new/old
What was nice is they allowed you to sit in the rooms, even put our feet in the pool..
Bought me a souvenir, a gorgeous dressy laced cut top, highly priced but what to heck.

Then downtown Dallas, yikes that was an experience
Luckily we were able to do the Texas School Depository, stood at the window of the 6th floor from which Lee Oswald shot President Kennedy..the museum is so well done

Even stood on the "X" where the bullet first hit him and on the second "X" where the fatal shot hit him.

Soooo very interesting

Now in Waco, 2 room suite, absolutely gorgeous

Nice way to finish our day

Jean, so happy to hear Jordan's surgery is over and he is doing well, what a relief for you all.how frightened you must have been when it was taking so long

Holy Marion, seems Kim just started her holidays and already she is going back.

Lorna must be feeling good about herself knowing what she has achieved is the talk of the town.

Waving to all others

Big sigh

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I needed the "boost" lol

Karen - the embroidery book you sent me is really going to get a workout! There are so many adorable things to embroider for a baby!!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - busy busy busy!! Sounds like you're having an awesome time, stepping back into history!
Looking forward to seeing that beautiful lacy top you bought :-)
Also looking forward to having you back in Canada lol One of these days, we MUST meet! Maybe when I go to Winnipeg, you'll meet me halfway? (Winnipeg IS halfway lol come see me there lol)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Drats, been up an hour and we don't have to leave until 7 or 8

Seems Suzanne's alarm went off at 4:00 kept beeping til I finally had to wake her..she went back to sleep, snoring loudly enough to wake the dead, thought if i went to the living room area i might be able to doze but she just got louder, guess I'm up and at it for the day.

Susan, so nice to see you are on a roll, camping, will the 5 days be at same park area that you were at last year when the bad weather hit?

Off to check Austin's weather then bath

Gab later

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Nice to see you post Susan, even nicer to hear the happiness ^_^

Betty .. feel bad about the early alarm and the snoring .. I think today you meet up with LindaK?
The Pres Kennedy stuff sounds very interesting, as does downtown Dallas, can't imagine how busy it must be ..

Last evening the clouds opened (again) and we got hammered with rain, along with thunder .. nice none of the gardens need to be watered now :-)
Lorna has 20+ beds to cultivate and weed today .. always tell her to take it easy ! Right now she is so happy about having her work recognized .. she's floating ^_^

Hope everyone has a good day .. thoughts with those traveling .. Katie, Betty and crew, and LindaK.

Betty is in Austin today, and San Antonio tomorrow. I will be meeting them Wed morning sometime!

Katie, I hope you made your trip OK! Pop in when you can!
"M" please tell Lorna to take it easy!

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, keep an eye out on this thread, not sure what schedule will be tomorrow

Just got into hotel room, did a tour of Texas state building, not wheel chair friendly, Linda took a tumble down many stairs, trying to convince her to go to hospital

She is wanting to go to airport

Will have updates

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh No! That's awful. She should absolutely be checked out. State building and no facility for wheelchair access. Ooooooo call a lawyer. Better yet call a newspaper, lawyers will be calling you.
JK but really outrageous that it happened.

Victoria Harbour, ON

After a man helped put her in the wheelchair another came to say there was one at the back of the building, hello, had to park a mile away, no sign anywhere saying wheel chair access

Would never call lawyer..she was sick to her stomach, more in shock

She took a painkiller, calming down, all of useeingill well, upsetting for sure

Quite a discussion as to what will happen today/tonight with plans

I tried to be diplomatic with all thinking up a plan

Told Suzanne and Rita to go scout 6th street re entertainment and that my knee was paining so I would rest it a bit and would they pick up supper for Linda and I

Then around 7 IF she felt like it we could call a taxi, take us to the boat who will bring us under the bridge to watch the bats and then return to the hotel (seeing the bats is what Linda was looking forward to

Agreed that once she is comfy in bed we would go out..I will come back saying my knee is out..don't want to leave her on her own

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Diplomacy is surely your middle name Betty ..
Feel so badly for Linda .. a fall is SO upsetting .. I'd give her 24 hours to re group and recoup ..
everyone will know better then as to how she's doing ..
Hope you do the 'bat boat' ..

Trip to the vet for Lilly and Pipers yearly check and shots .. went well .. only $300. !!!
Lilly has some tartar buildup on one side, estimate for a teeth cleaning? $600.+
Good lord, I'm going to be looking for a job soon !!!

Supper is on the ready .. best get the table ready ..

~M~

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Had a bit of excitement here yesterday. Norm was at work and was in a tornado!!!! It tossed his van around a bit but didn't tip it over. There were 69 homes damaged as well as the city hall in Revere, Mass. He is fine but said it shook him up a bit!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh Barb, how terrifying, we're you aware he was in this storm?
How is he doing today?

"M" she is asleep, might do her the world of good

Rita and Suzanne will be back in a bit with eats

Am positive Linda won't be able to go

I will stay with her, just can't go and leave her alone. She emailed Dave her hubby, I'm thinking he will want her home..because od her hip, leg and chest problems he won't want her to go on..he only checks his emails early evening so guess we will have to wait

Says its mid 90's with a feel like of 103

Turned off a/c, I'm just freezing, have a feeling it was a shock to me as well..

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh no, Betty! How awful for Linda! I'm so sorry it happened. Sure she is beside herself thinking she is putting a burden on all of you! Prayers going up for all.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Awww so sad for Linda, all the planning and something so unnecessary puts the kibosh on it. I do hope you saw the JK in my other post...means just kidding...as I was. Seems strange a state bldg. wouldn't have a plainly marked handicap access though. I suppose it's a problem with older buildings to do a later fix.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear about her fall Betty. Keep me posted.

mulege, Mexico

glad I have all of you to keep me in line. The trip was long and hot and humid but I stopped often, before I NEEDED to, knowing the trouble I'd be in if I had an accident or something. The worst part was a long slow three hour line to the border but I got through with no problem. The US checkpoint was posted as having dogs but they didn't and I protested. The guard told me it was too hot for them. I was disappointed so they probably were pretty sure I didn't have any drugs and let me go.

Xrays went oK this morning. I have to have a biopsy done as they cannot be sure all is OK but also not too concerned that they aren't. Probably next week so I have a few days to read and rest. I'll find some spots near the ocean and veg out.

thanks for watching out for me. I'll be back soon.

hugs, katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all

Just got back from the hospital

Thankfully after the X-ray Linda was told that she is one lucky lady, no breaks ..she will be unable to walk for the next few days so wheelchair it will be. If the prescription doesn't work not sure what we shall do. Omg the thickness of her thigh and what colors

After bringing Linda to the hospital she insisted because there was a long wait that we go to the congress bridge and see the bats. Had made reservations for the boat tour that goes under the bridge to watch them, I truly didn't want to but had I not she would have blamed herself..
At dusk out they came, they estimate a million and a half leave their abode under the bridge to go in search of food..interesting for sure, when I got back to the hospital I told Rita and Suzanne to head back to the hotel

Big sigh

LindaKay, will update you in the morning

Katie, glad you made it safely

Tired, really tired so must try and sleep..had very little last night guess it I'd catching up to me

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Betty. How is Linda doing? Hope she is not too sore. Just wondering what time your going to be in San Antonio?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sending prayers for Linda this morning and so glad to hear that nothing was broken. But bruises and sprains seen to take forever to heal. Will she be able to sit in the car?

Norm is fine after his adventure. He lived for several years in Iowa and they have tornadoes all the time. He said the difference this time was that there was no warning. Of course he was driving and not watching weather reports. And Neither was I - I was sewing... But he is fine. I feel bad for the people in Revere though. They have over 2 million dollars in damage and 65+ homes damaged. FEMA will not help unless there is over 100 million in damages and over 100 homes damaged!!!!
What the heck??? An emergency is an emergency!!!!

Made a cover for my sewing machine yesterday. It came out cute. I'll try to get a photo today.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

WOW!! How quickly things can change ..
Re handicap access to buildings, over the last several years I have written letters, spoken to gov't officials/managers/store owners to complain .. seems it just is NOT a priority, even though there are LAWS governing accessibility .. I've watched Lorna struggle up HIGH steps, being watched by emplyees inside, most if not all were sympathetic to her plight, but, hands were tied.
I wish you the best Betty, you're a good friend to Linda, but, the next 3 days she will be really sore ..
Hope you can still meet up with LindK.
As for the bats .. yikes .. my Mom made me a 'bataphobic', used to tell me they'd get caught in my hair !! Still think about that, but really like the fact they eat all those bugs !!!

Have a workshop at the University this evening .. so, since i've been up since 5am .. I may just go back to bed once Lorna is gone ..

Katie .. THREE hours in line !! YIPES .. what if you had to go to the bathroom, I always think about that !!
Hope the biopsy is negative .. thoughts are with you .

SO .. will have Linda on my mind today, and the crew .. also wondering how Mary, Dianne and Debbie are doing .. well .. I guess pretty much everyone ^_^
There's that Miss Martha Mirror LoL

Morning all, just about ready to wake the girls, didn't have the heart to do so before now but must..we will be moving a lot slower this a.m so not yet sure when we will leave

LindaKay, so sorry about this, can't say exactly..we were lucky yesterday, check in was to be at 3pm but they let us in at 10

Hopefully riverwalk hotel will do same.
