RM: 288 of the "Sweet Interruptions Hotel"

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning sistahs.
Another day for muggy air and hot sun. No complains, at least I don't have a water bill.

Sue, you make me blush girl!! Hope the busyness were done in a motel room!!!
Cookie, if I were to live closer, that butterfly bush would be mine! Lol!!

Marion, benign isn't the word for my garden's neglect. More like a death sentence!

LK, if you had planted some clematis, how are they doing in your heat? Mine put up with the triple digits, but their feet I kept cool all the time.

Sis Kathy didn't return my call, I hope she's just resting at home. Will try again later.
Cookie, if you have her cell number, can you try calling?

Feeling much better today, the daily routines will be done at normal time. No cooking today again, got some sliced ham for the man. Nope, no green eggs.
He prefers I get some thick cut bolognas, and fry them. Errr.... that means cooking right?
Never did care for baloney bolognas! But give me some liverwurst!

Waving to Barb, Karen... Ronna and the lurkers. Hope your heat's bearable. Have a great thursday sistahs.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Waving back Jaye.
Been busy helping with Sean and Brandon's grad party this Saturday and finishing up their gifts.
Made Brandon a quilt to take to college with him. Took a picture of Sean pitching baseball and transferred it to fabric for a wall hanging for his room. Just need to finish up shopping for the paper products (plates, napkins, cutlery) and something new for me to wear. Been quite a while since I bought anything new for me...
Sending prayers to all in need and waving hello too~~~~~~~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have one clematis I got from Cindy a few years ago, and it puts out a few blooms now and then. But the ones I bought from bluestone did not make it through the winter!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Meeting an old friend for lunch today. We haven't seen each other since the 70s. She was neighbor who divorced, remarried and moved away. We then moved to FL. Both of us have moved several times since then. We found each other through a mutual friend just recently on FB, since then we have talked on the phone often. She now lives across the state from me so we are meeting in the middle.Gonna be a fun day.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Karen, that sounds like so much fun. I reconnected with one of my best friends from high school (actually was my maid of honor) several years back so I can relate to how wonderful this feels. She also moved many times including working overseas for many years.

Clematis... I keep saying I am going to purchase me one. Maybe today after the movie we can go visit a nursery. Need to do a little research on growing conditions first. I must say my walk around the "estate" this morning was so good. It doesn't take much cleaning up to really show right now. Felt so good too!!! I don't know if it was the winter we had or what but my hostas are "ginormous" (Kim's word..not mine) this year! We do need some rain however.

Waving to everyone, have a great day and please, please someone track Kathy down. I am seriously worried about her.

Off to see The Dragon with 2 sweeties!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Have a safe trip Karen!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Please say a prayer for my Dad. My Sister is meeting him at the ER, because the nursing home called her and said he is having problems breathing, and an upset tummy. They are going to check him out, to make sure it is not heart problems. That's all I know for now. Thanks!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

That was the most fun I've had since Frankenmuth. Her hubby is just the nicest and she is so happy now. Can you imagine a 3 hour lunch at Bob Evans? Separated making plans to meet again soon. Too bad we are about 3 1/2 hours apart.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you had a great time!

Update on Dad. Not much, but something!
They are keeping him overnight due to chest pain. His oxygen levels are low, chest x-ray is good, EKG is good. That's all I know for now!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Praying for your dad, LK.

Rain here today. We needed it for sure. Everything looks happy.

I'll try to reach Kathy.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Kathy just called. She just got home from the hospital. She is in a lot of pain, and was told her diverticulitis has flared up! She is on pain meds, and I hope she gets some rest!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I won't call tonight then. Adding her to my list!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sending more prayers too for your Dad LK and for Kathy.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks everyone.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Hoping both Kathy and LKs Dad had a restful night. Prayers continue.....

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh my!! I will not be calling her, too. Prayers going out for Sis Kathy and your dad LK.

I guess your dad will be monitored round the clock. Isn't he on oxygen therapy LK?

Barb, you're making great use of your skills! We know your DGS will love his quilt. Never done a photo transfer before. Show it to us when you're through, pretty please.
Few more hours before the great party, hope you've found something to wear!

That sounds wonderful Karen. Finally getting reunited with a friend and I bet you both have plenty to share with! That's decades of events, Karen!! Marriage.. children.. grandchildren.. not to include career.

Only one school friend reconnected with me Marion. The rest, I've lost their numbers and don't remember their names. Shows that I'm a loner then.
We watched The Lone Ranger, and we love it!! Don't understand why it was a flop at the box office when it's so entertaining.
Was Dragon 2 good? We like the first one.

Cookie, I think I've quoted the wrong kind of brisket. The one with all the fat intact is under 3 dollars a pound, when the flat one (trimmed) is at 7 a pound. Is that like that in Ohio? I know your gas is much more expensive there.

Not getting any rains today, though the weather was horrible last night here. Thunder and bands of lightning non stop for an hour. Not one single drop of rain!
Back to cutting for me along with some much needed sleep.

Sorry I didn't answer the phone, LK and Sis Kathy (if lurking). Got back from MB late last night.
Kel's bringing MIL for her checkup this morning. Even if the doctor were to tell her that she'd be able to drive.. she'd still find something's wrong. But I can tell you all this.. she'd be starting to drive around the shopping circuit.

Have a good Friday everyone.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Lots of much needed rain here last night. 9 inches they said on the news!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

That's some rain, LK!
You might need an ark!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Just about! Everything is wet and muddy!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

The gingers will love it!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I hope so! Still no blooms.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

We got 1 1/2 inches in the last two days. Much needed here.

Jaye, I believe I'm talking about the flat one. Stringy so you have to cut it across the grain. The only other brisket I know is the corned beef one. Everyone loved it. Need to write the recipe down for one of the ladies.

Today is the Hosta Tailgate Party at one of our members home. People are coming from Michigan, Indiana, New York and Kentucky. So 5 states. Tomorrow and Sunday are hosta tours. I'm invited to a high tea tomorrow, so I won't be touring hosta gardens. You have to have your priorities!

Hope that all passed a peaceful, pain free night.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

I'm here, not pain free, but here.Just checked my flowers, thJP's are at the roses again. Gonna set then on fire, if I can't have them the beetles aren't either.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Kathy, hope you getting to feel much better really soon. Fire? Isn't that a "wee bit" drastic? :-)

Cookie, oh how I wish I could be at that hosta meeting. I love hostas...not really a thriving plant in Florida but I do manage to keep mine going. Enjoy them for me, please.

Dragon 2 was good...or maybe the company made it better. I like the Lone Ranger also Jaye but again I don't think it was one of his better movies. Kim and I watched 12 Years A Slave the other night and really enjoyed that movie. Saw previews of several movies to be released that the kids have already asked for dates to see.

LK, that was some rain! It got really dark, windy and nasty looking here yesterday but alas no rain. We are really needing some now. Maybe today.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

I want to go see the Jersey Boys. I just love Frankie Valli.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Going to be a very warm day, so wish we could have some of that rain. Feeling pretty good, but don't know if it is good enough to clean up some of my mess. LOL Have this huge tomato plant and can't find any fruit on it. Some gal from hospice is coming out to see Darwin late this afternoon. I hope she has a magic pill so he will eat. Of course, he wanted to watch TV so of course he got it messed up again and I'm so bad about how to fix it. Finally got it working for him, one more time. Maybe I'll get some smarts on how all this works.

Wishing every one a good day.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

It's hot and I think the heat index reached triple digits. Really need some rains to bring down the temps some.

LK, the gingers don't start budding till late July for me. Some gingers around here took 3 years to bloom. You get hummingbirds, and I can assure you once those gingers start blooming, you'll get some beautiful long nose moths!

Cookie, I'd choose high tea too! So, will there be crumpets and scones and sandwiches?
Enjoy yourself.

Marion, 12 years a slave, is on my Netflix que. The Butler was awesome too. Whatever you recommend, I'll just have to wait when it's available on Netflix!
Lucky kids!! My grandparents won't take us out to movies.. too many of us!
But I was treated to Dave Brubeck's concert by grandad when I was 12. Yep.. grandad was the one responsible for my jazz likings.
Your two girls will have so many memories of G'ma 'spoiling' them!

Sis Kathy, take care of yourself and don't go out there setting fire to the roses!! When replacing them, make sure you don't get the hybrid teas, just floribundas. JB don't care for the floribunda variety.

(((((((Pegi))))) How about Ensure or Boost for Darwin. He'd get his nutrition from them.
Maybe entice him with some milkshakes or ice cream.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for letting me know about the July bloom time Jaye! I will let you know as soon as I get one!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

LK, err.. the buds come out in July.. probably bloom in late August!!
We sure need to have a real life escape button with the heat we'll be having!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I heard that.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Jaye, I have Ensure in the house, plus instant breakfast and tempt him with ice cream once in a while He did the Ensure and "liquid" breakfast today but wanted nothing else. A new nurse came out this evening and she said if I didn't have a way to get meds for Darwin they have volunteers that will do that and even a messenger service called A-1 that will deliver it. So a nice young man brought the new prescription from the doctor for morphine pills later on this evening. I do have to sign up for the volunteer services, but didn't do that yet. So, if I feel I want to go shopping and be away for an hour or two I can always get a volunteer to come in, think that is so kewl.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I am glad you're getting all sorts of help. God is making sure you're able to cope, PEgi.
May tonight Darwin sleep soundly.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!
Pegi, glad to hear you have help if you need it!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

It is truly wonderful the services that are now available through hospice. Insurance companies have found it so much cheaper for patients to stay at home rather than be hospitalized so most are willing to pay for whatever needs there are. I'm keep you both in my prayers Pegi.....

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Gotta be less Barb. Just got the paper work for my 2 days, over $11,000, over $2000. for IVs. $1,500 for ER visit, and $3,675 for "observation. That doesn't include the Drs. who stuck their heads in the door and said Hi how are you? Sorry but that is obscene.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

What were you in the hospital for Karen? I agree, they are not cheap!

Last year when I went too the ER for my diverticulitis, I got a separate bill from a Dr. that was $1500.00. When I called and asked what it was for, they told me that this Dr.'s job is to approve all ER visits, and he gets $1500.00 just for signing a paper! If he does not approve it, you don't get seen! I have never herd of this before!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

When I got so de-hydrated a few weeks ago. Still waiting to see how it's all gonna shake down and what it will cost us.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Make sure you drink water Karen!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I'm really glad that Pegi's getting help from a volunteer program. That's one of the perks in living in a big city.
None here. Kel will have to do it by himself if I should be bedridden. touch wood.

Karen, please force yourself to drink!! that's my biggest struggle.. not drinking enough. But I learnt from too many Charlie horses, to always be sipping on something.

Sis Kathy, some folks posted on FB that they're encountering an infestation of JBs. Did you send them their way? The threat of torching them must have scared them!
Hope you'll get to feeling better!

LK, since you had the rains, now you have to watch out for the mosquitoes!

Waving to Barb and lurkers!!

Had to return to Mucinex D yesterday. Loud ringing in the right ear, I'm sure can scare the fleas away! Lol!
Anyway, bad storms passed this area last night but no wetness till early this morning.
I'll take the sprinkles!
Cooked a roast in the slow cooker when I can't sleep last night. Kel's lunch's all done. No appetite for red meat. The price of a roast is ridiculous nowadays.
We'd soon be having insects for protein like in some third world countries!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I'm fine now. At the time I had a bug so bad I simply could not stand to eat or drink, if I forced it, it bounced. My big error was letting it go so long before I went for help. My oncologist told me there is a hydration center That I have access to if I ever need it again. Save me a trip to the hospital. She also told me if I go 8 hours without being able to eat or drink, that is the time to seek help, don't wait days.
