Yeap Miss Debra was there I had met her years ago at an ru and when I was 'working' and traveling I had stopped in Wichita and went to dinner and she took me to meet tropicman. The ru was held in Sedalia about an hour from Lees Summit.

We had a ton of plants, omg.

DeeJay I can't hardly remember my own name, so I wouldn't be to tell you if the iris came from me. A lot of times I buy iris when I swap from the iris farm down the road from me. I haven't dug any iris out of my yard for several yea

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We were stationed at Whiteman AFB back in the 80's. We went to Sedalia quite often! Glad you were able to meet up with her.

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

These have been in that box since i got them back in about 20002-3 Nap Time :)

I am about to declare war on the darn cutter ants we have here. I have tried everything, and look what they did to my roses! Everyone of them are stripped! AGAIN!!!

Well I spoke too soon, about pests I decided to transplant a hardy hibiscus, I know it was the wrong time of the year but it was now or never. The strange thing is the few sprouts I had coming up from the roots, something chewed into the stalk, not all the way just chewed a hole in the stalk. Anyone know what that is?

I sure hope it survives.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Post a picture, and maybe we can decide from that?

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

when is the Best time to transplant roses ? I Have 2 that need to be moved.
LK try some Hot Pepers spray on your plants I read somewhere that it will not hurt the plants & bugs will not go to the plant . so it should work on ants , they say also cinnamon
also keep ants away . Little late now all these tips so sorry for your Lost .

well coffee is gone
here is my 1st poppy & Peony of the season :)

Thanks Susie, I will try that!

Love your blooms!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I don't know about ants but when I planted my rose garden, I used bone meal in each hole. I guess that's what the dogs were after because they were relentless about digging them back up. I finally sprinkled red pepper very liberally around each rose and the dogs never went by them again. I've used the same when planting tulip bulbs to keep out the squirrels.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susie, I found this article, maybe that will help with moving your roses?

http://www.heirloomroses.com/care/transplanting-roses/

Thanks Karen. I will give that a try too! I will go buy a bunch of dried peppers, and grind them up!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

does it work for Japeneesa beetles?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Sorry, no clue but it wouldn't hurt to try.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

Thanks Linda

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

One thing I do know about red pepper, it will NOT deter birds at all. Birds have dry mouths and so are not affected by the hot. In fact my parrots loved red peppers on their food.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

My parrots loves to east fresh jalapeños. He peels them and eats the seeds.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Yyeeeoooowwweee. Jalepenos! No thanks. Nothing new blossoming for me yet. Come on would ya? I had to move a rhodedendrum the other day the poor thing looks so awful. Sure hope it does better in its new home. It already is sprouting some new growth. Pretty amazing.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Wow I think I have been busy but when I look around I am not sure what I have been doing. Now my body is sore so I must of been doing something, right? LOL. The birch trees and the maple trees have finally lost all of their seeds, good grief it was AWFUL, this year. I think I finally got them off the patio and all the furniture, the gardens are loaded so I will be pulling trees for the next 15 years.

I still don't have all the plants out of the solar room or the garden room! How sad is that.

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

TY LK the info is helpfull .

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

My first Denver Daisy and Black Eyed Susan's finally started to open today. And of course I ad to take pictures of other things. The last on is my Alamanda bush

Beautiful colors in your garden!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

thank you

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

For some reason I'm more bothered this year than others by what I cannot plant.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

what can't you plant?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Her yard is mostly shade, she needs shade plants. I also think she has sand?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

In the woods all sand and shade. I have a few Hostas and some Lily of the Valley. I get a bit of sun on the deck so have a couple hanging baskets and tomatoes. Grass and weeds don't even grow here. LOL
