Had my pre-op Yesterday and passed. Am ok for surgery on the 25th. 14 days from now and counting down.

I have had a knee surgery ,, Not for replacement though ,, I am up walking around this morning .
Not here often but I read and wish you all well ,
Especially you marti !!! I hope all goes well with that for you ,, Most after a while are glad they had it done ,,Therapy gets to most , but it is better than years of nagging , aching , or knees sliding in and out of place ,,
marti , you must have incredible patience ,, from they way many of your posts sound .
Again ,, best of hopes to you with that ...

10 days and counting down til surgery.

We are due for snow Monday (today) and I have errands to run so am hoping they are wrong about 8 inches of snow.

We have snow ,wind , sleet , more cold , cold weather coming ,,

5 am here Hello!!! Tallulah_B I don't have much to talk about ,, except being up to early , lol

It's only 3am
dunno why I'm up, except that I'm worried about a friend in Atlanta GA area. She told me they sent her home from work early tonight, because of the storms - trees down, major winds & ice going home from night shift.
I'm in Canada, so don't know if her power is out, or just what's happening. I woke up after 2 hours and wonder if it's because I "sensed" her power is out...... She's a true night owl because of her job, and she's not online......

Marti I am here I have not so good news. The dr says Dialysis is in the very near future I am leaning towards not doing it.

Tallulah_B I do that here sometimes , worry about where someone went during power outages , That and winter weather makes the feeling worse ,,
Winter does not have to be stressful . but it is ,
Oh I knew you were in Canada , Northeast US , Southeast US, all getting bad weather ,,
I think I am like 5 or 6 hundred miles south of Ontario here ,, Anyway ,, Michigan is one state north ,, And Canada is one Province north of Michigan ..

Easy for things to go wrong or be stuck someplace when the weather gets bad ,, As you probably know , the US is the Tornado capital of the Planet ,,, Does not help your worries either I am sure ,, I type a little "off " not meant like it may sound ,,
Hope your friends all right and you do not stress out ,,

Friend of mine asked me to knit a baby blanket for a friend of hers.
I Just found the circular knitting needles. I've been tidying up my craft room (sewing, quilting, knitting).
I'd better get to a lot of clearing/cleaning - have an online friend coming here March 11th - first time meeting her, and I'm excited!! She's coming for a week!

Some of that goes on here every so often ,, crochet ,, Antique set was a gift at Christmas for a sister ,,
Stays away the worries ,, and all ,, usually scarfs these days ..

I've been snowed in for 2 days now and am going nuts. Its only a foot of snow but can't get my car out of the driveway because the snow plow piled snow at the enterance to my driveway. Darn thing!

8 more days til I have my knee surgery. That's if the roads clear and the weather clears so I can get to Lexington. My ride does not want to go if its snowing again. Can't blame them at all.

Change of plans. My surgery is Monday the 23rd.

Right now I've been snowed in for 4 days and don't see a chance of getting my car out Friday either. I miss my jeep.

I miss everything except this winter weather and physical problems .
it is too cold ..

Everyone came in hours late a few years back a day of my Hernia surgery we broke the scraper getting ice off the car ,, there was 14 inches of snow and ice that morning ,

In the last three days I have gone to sleep at my computer and fallen out of my chair twice then I fell backwards and bashed my head on the counter top and slid my face down the cabinet fronts and scrubbed my face on the hardware. Last night I fell backwards in the garage and hit the floor pretty hard. Boy what a klutx.

the weather remains stable and it is 49 right now.

I got a ride to Lexington for surgery. We will go up Sunday afternoon or evening and than I can shower like the dr wants me to. My pipes are frozen so can't shower here, plus my bathroom is unheated unless I place a heater in there which helps a little. The motel will be better.

yes, Marti - the motel Will be better - nothing worse than frozen pipes......
We have a plugged in heat tape on our pipes, because we live in a trailer too. One year the tape slipped, the pipes froze and burst at 2am...... we didn't know where the shut off valve was. We could hear the water spurting out. The pipe was right under an electrical plug-in, so we called the fire dept - they found the shut off valve and we called a plumber.
Did you shut off your valves?

Marti please take a can of spray lyisoil for the motel.. I am not saying your staying at a dirty motel but why take a chance. Spray all the areas you grab with your hands to steady yourself. Ask the motel for extra linens,

Ernie, I always travel with a bottle of lyisoil spray. And fabric refresher.

Glad to hear you're home. Pain right now is expected as you heal, but it will get better, and you know you have my prayers :-)

I'm having less pain everyday and moving around more freely. Today I start PT and we'll see how much they hurt me. I still cannot straighten my leg out completely. The day after surgery the PT at the hosiptal had me lie on my back on a hard table then he leaned on my right knee and pushed down tilthe knee hit the competely straight mark and 0 degree. You want to talk pain! I almost hit him, but he got away from me before I could hit him.

Saw my priamarily care physican Tuesday Morning. The dressings are off and she says the incision looks very good. I've lost 10 lbs since March 23rd. I'm still not hugury. Tried to eat a chicken pot pie for dinner. Got 3 bits down and fed the rest to the critters. And chicken pot pie is a favorite of mine. My dr is concerned about me not eating and tried to find out if we had meals on wheels here in town. We don't!! Í'm gong to try and pick up some ensure or carnation breakfast drink to replace the meals I'm not eating. Any suggestions?

I don't know what to say, Mary - I know that Health Food places have "bulk up" drinks that help you gain weight, but I also know that they're pricey. Ensure is definitely something that hospitals give people to gain weight. How's your sense of smell?

The dr can writa a prescription for Ensure & it will be covered by ins...

Guess everyone's been sleeping better. I just woke up after a few hours of semi-sleep. May go back to bed. Having both mental and physical problems since I visited San Diego last month. Had a visit with the IRS and found that my Retirement people (probably one person) lied to the iRS 25 years ago, causing me endless problems with them since then. Very upsetting. I think I know what I will do but I don't like it. This is a horrible organization. Employees and Board members band together against retirees

Add in an abusive person on another thread and I'm not having a great time.

Tony is still with me, four hours a day, six days a week. More help than I can begin to describe. His daughter will be 15 on the 27th. I got her a computer.

My four dogs are all healthy and our weather is perfect. Lots of things are growing and blooming.

I need to bite the bullet on going to Oakland for a while.

I'm awake and bored. My knee is healing well from surgery (total knee replacement). Was told I could go back to work on 4/9 but on 4/4 I pinced the sciatic nerve in my left hip and could not go to work. Darn! I'm still having problems with it and am now getting Pt for it. I am so tired of laying around the house. The first 2 weeks after surgery I was here alone and having trouble getting something to eat. Than some friends found out and started calling and coming over every day to check up and help me plus they were having to move as the trailer they rented was sold and the new owner wanted the place empty to do some work on it. Anyway we worked out a deal and they moved in here with me and have been taking care of me and my trailer. The pipes under the trailer had cracked again in the freeze so He (Tom) replace them and got water back on for us all. Now he is going to fix the toilet whick was installed incorrectly just before they moved in. It is not seated right and leaks water from the tank. She (Renee) had taken over the kitchen and cooking. Plus if I need help dressing, shoes put on she helps me. I'm getting better at dressing myself and can not get my shoes on by myself so am cutting back on how much she helps me. They take me to PT and the Dr's appointments as I'm still having trouble driving.

Glad to see you post as I've been wondering how you were doing. The early months of recovery and pt are no fun but soon you will look back and barely remember what you went through.

I'm having another restless night. Neither asleep nor awake. Thinking a lot about my retirement association and what to do. It's been up and down like a yo-yo since I talked to the IRS people. Plus being tired from the long trip. I'm getting better but, like Marti, I want to be all better right now, darn it. Patience is not one of my strengths.

Took a couple of Benadryl and half a pain killer and will go back to bed.

Amanda, you haven't posted. Are you sleeping better?
