NIGHT OWLS ONLY - OPEN: 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. (4th Call)

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Good morning everyone! I got some sleep last night, but am up now for the day. The humidity here just gets to me and I spend the day laying infront of a fan and snoozing during the heat of the day. We've had some rain and the garden sure loves it. Mostly it rains at night so the plants get a chance to suck up the water before the sun burns it off.

I still have my niece and her husband living with me but hopefully not for much longer. They have a chance to get a 2 bedroom apartment in Richmond that they will share with her daughter. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that to happen, but will not hold my breath.

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

Dianne hi yourself pretty Lady. Getting stronger every day Alaska is ON.

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Good morning!

I have no idea why I'm awake having gone to sleep late. I should be sleeping like a stone. Instead wide awake, so why fight it? Suppose I'll get a cup o Joe and start my day. I do like to get an early start now and then. Look like maybe today is my lucky day.

I'm blessed with good health, but I know out there some of us are struggling. I surely hope you have a pleasant, easy day today.

I've been putting out bird food on a post I fixed for the birds outside my kitchen window. It's fun to see the different birds that come to the site. Now the have given my a present for feeding them. I have this beautiful sunflower growing from their seed. There are other plants growing near this sunflower that I think are from the bird seed also. Just waiting for them to bloom.

Hi everbody. Happy 4th !

I cant sleep for stressing
about the co-op !

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Oh no. That's the worst thing about a project like that--it becomes all-consuming. OTOH, you want to feel like you can do stuff. It makes you feel good to complete big projects!!!

Massachusetts (which is called Taxachussets) and I disagreed about how much tax we owed in 2007... that year we had a BIG Federal refund and I KNEW I wouldn't owe any state taxes. But I hadn't filed a state tax form explaining that we didn't owe them anything. :(

So in 2012, they started sending me letters about how I owed $4000 in state tax for 2007. I just had to file this stupid form. Meanwhile, +we moved from MA to Texas. DH moved April 13 and I didn't move until June because my DD graduated from HS on 6/4. It was chaos!

In May, the state kept threatening me to pay them $4000 and I knew we didn't owe it but I was trying to pack 25 years worth of stuff into boxes by myself....I was totally overwhelmed. On june 1, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts seized $4000 for from my bank accounts!

So there we were in texas $4000 short. The worst hpart was it was all my fault! I couldn't talk about it to anyone....DH doesn't do money, and my mother had warned me about it and I was embarrassed and felt guilty and couldn't tell anyone.

So I pretty much stopped sleeping. All night I would think about that $4000, and all day I did the normal stuff, grocery shopping and laundry and FAFSA forms for the two kids in college. I didn't want to tell anybody so I didn't. I think I got in the rhythm of not sleeping then.

Eventually, I filed the form and got $4000 back.

Bulb co-op I just flashed on how awful I felt and how worried I was those first months after we moved.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Just got home from the drive in where we saw Earth to Echo and How to train your Dragon 2. Enjoyed both movies, but will now try to get some sleep.

Sleep a little elusive here tonight , last night ,movies are good for that ,,

We had planned (and paid for) a trip to Mexico, but my passport had disappeared. Finally at 10 pm Saturday night, after looking all day, DH found it in a sealed box in the storage unit. It wasn't my fault! Off We go! Vamanos, adios amigos.

¡Que os vaya muy bién!

Itt's 3:30 and I'm wide awake, hot and itchy, watching Project Runway Allsttars. The upside is that the a/c is working. I had to switch out a fan that wasn't working.

Took some meds for pain and itching.

All in things are OK.

There are worse things than having trouble sleeping. Had my first trip in my new-to-me Suburban and all went well. Got back last Friday and it takes some time to rest up and get back to a fairly normal sleep pattern.

Everything is OK here. It is our hot and humid season when we all go into survival mode. We remind each other that there are no big deals.

hugs, katie

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Katie, I always think of you when I am in Mexico
I also am worried tonight about my daughter. She's 23 and I think she needs surgery. Her persona is hates snots and blood; doesn't know how to relax. If she has this surgery.....I feel like I should be there.

Cancun was wonderful.

Springfield, OR(Zone 8a)

Where is your daughter Carrie? That has to be hard, worrying about a child long-distance. Should we hope she doesn't need the surgery?

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

I have been up since 4 just can't sleep.

Marti I have typed this 3 times and lost it for one reason or another. So here we go for round 4. I feed the birds to. I have a birdfeeder that my departed fil made for me it holds 50 lbs. I also use 3 peanut feeders. I buy the peanuts from the supermarkets rather than the pet store because the cost is peanuts compared to the pet store. Just be sure to get unsalted penuts . I also use suet feeders as it is a good source of heat in the cold winter And I am sure we all use hummingbird feeders.

I to get some pretty vagabond flowers growing under and around the feeder.. That's ok because I pull a lot of them and feed them to bunny the green house Bunny.

OMG it's nearly tomorrow. I guess 3:15 isn't too too bad.

I've been trying to wean myself off klonazepam. I've been taking it (as much as 3 mg a day) for about 25 years! I was down to 1 mg a day for the past 2 years, and I just decided I don't like being controlled by a drug, especially a "controlled substance. " So I shaved my 1 mg tablets over a period of weeks, and tonight I'm finally down to .5 mg, half of what I was taking in May!!!! That may have to do with tonight's insomnia, or maybe not.

Springfield, OR(Zone 8a)

And do you feel better off it, or nearly off it, or is the feeling better the not feeling controlled? I can imagine the latter might feel like freedom? Of some kind, anyway.

I'd only when we can't sleep it meant that we don't need to.

mulege, Mexico

It's 5:25 here so I can post though I haven't much to say.

I signed up for Lumosity and have been playing there. It seems to help me stay "above" some of the worst pain and moods but I don't see myself being off pain meds for awhile, maybe forever. I'm grateful they really help me and at a lower dose than is permitted. My choice seems to be either takes the meds or stay in bed. Sometimes I do both but not often.

Carrie, what is happening with your daughter?

It is our hot and humid weather here. My friend Tony still works for me six mornings a week and is a lifesaver. I got up at 5 today when I woke up in the hope of working with him on an insulation project.. I had a quick trip to Ca. and got back about ten days ago and am still catching up on my rest. My new-to-me Suburban did not have any problems on the road. It uses a lot of gaws but is smaller than the ambulance I had and much easier to drive on Mexican roads.

Summer is really quiet here. Most Americans go north and those of us who are here - both Mexicans and Americans - tend to just go into survival mode.

hugs, katie

Well, I can't seem to get to sleep and yet I'm tired. Last Friday a friend and I left for Midland, michgan for his daughter's 8th birthday. We got there about 1 am Saturday morning (got out of here late) spent Saturday at the birthday party and visiting with his family than we got some sleep and spent Sunday at the Antique Flea Market. He had an invistion by his son for dinner and fishing, so he dropped me at the hotel and I enjoyed the quiet til he got back late that night. We left about 12 noon Monday for the approximately 9 hour drive home and got home at 9:40 pm. I dropped him and his things at his place, than got home intime to see my program on at 10 pm. I like to watch "Longmire" I enjoyed being gone for a few days, seeing new country and places, but am also glad to be home. My little dog spent the 4 days chasing the cats out of the bedroom and not letting any of them spend time on the bed. According to my niece, she was being a little snot and very upset that I had left for a few days. Of course, since I got back, she has not let me out of her sight. Right now she is laying on my feet while I'm at the computer instead of staying on the bed which is right next to the computer. She is using my foot as her pillow. Such a little snot!!

Hi yall, checking in, been up worrying about stupid things like money and
why my son has such bad taste in women. It all sounds so boring, so I
will cease and desist.

Mebbe a glass of milk will help. hugs

Hi, folks. Awake - as usual -and I'm tired and achey. I wonder if my tablet is keeping me awake, but then I remember lying awake watching inside of my eyelids, and then 2 years ago switched to smart phone, and now tablet all night?

marti, KY - MI??? Seems really far, but I love to see new places. Remember when driving a few states away would have different food and different styes of clothes? I think those days are long gone.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

My trip to Michgan went well. I put 1140 miles on my jeep. That's up and back plus driving around Midland, Michgan. We left here Friday about noon and got back Monday night at 9:30.
The hotel we stayed at had trouble with the electricity to our room and we would find ourselves in the dark. It happened Early Saturday morning sometime, cause I got up at around 3 am to use the potty and no lights. At daylight I went down to the office and complianed about it and within 1/2 hr the lights come on, but than Sunday morning it happened again about the same time. It was funny because the microwave, refrigerator and air conditioner still worked but no lights and all wall plugs along the lower part of the wall did not work. The plug for the microwave and refrigerator was high up on the wall. Anyway they could not get the breaker for the lights to our room to stay on so they moved us to another room and no more problems. IT was just the one room that had a problem.

I'M BREAKING MY RULE!

Just this once. I did not sleep a wink overnight yesterday, but had an excellent night of sleep woke to another beautiful day.

I am looking forward to getting back to this thread once my master's work is finished in August. I think we've got a great spot to unwind and enjoy hearing everybody else's shared misery of sleeplessness. After all - misery loves company. :D

Have a great day. Now I will go back to abiding by the RULZ.

Well, I got my house back to myself. When I let my niece and her husband move in last Feb they were surposed to be here just long enough to find an apartment or trailer to rent and they agreed to help me out with some money towards the utilities while they were here, but things got bad. My niece is an alcoholic and spent all the money buying beer and being drunk everyday. Her husband has a pace maker and is not surposed to drink, but he was drunk most days also. And brother what a mouth he has on him when he's had a few beers. Anyway yesterday, I was laying in my bedroom, watching tv and I guess I dozed off, because I woke up, the house was quiet and I got up and walked out into the rest of the trailer and found their bed and most of their stuff gone from my craftroom. I called my nephew next door about it and was informed that they had moved out and gone with her daughter to Richmond to live. An hour later I got a text message telling me that they had moved out. They owe me some money, but I'll neer see it. Plus while they were here my refrigerator quit and I did not have the money to replace it so they made arrangements to buy one from Aaron's on payments. She said it was a birthday present to me. She has been makiing payments and says she will continue to make the payments but I'm worried that she will not do it and they will come and claim the frig. I also payed to have Dish network installed because they said they would help pay for it and did not, so now I'm looking at having to cancell it and do without TV again, unless I can come up with about $200.00 to get Time Warner Cable.

I have an interview Monday morning for a possible job. It will be part time, 18 to 20 hours a month at miniumum wage, but at least its a little extra money coming in and I need it. So keep your fingers crossed for me that I get the job.

Rancho Santa Rita, TX(Zone 8a)

marti, praying you will land that job !

Yes, juhur, I just said "hey." I didn't mean to wake you up! Sorry.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

With nothing better to do at this time of the morning and can't sleep, I am playing Yahtzee by myself. After 5 months of my niece and her husband living with me and complaining if I made any noise during the night, it is nice to have my house back to myself. I checked with Aaron's about the payment on the frig and it is almost $62.00 a month that I now have to work into my budget. My niece and her husband said they would buy it for me as a birthday gift when my frig went out on us. Now that they have left they say they won't make anymore payments on it. Aaron's manager said they will work with me on this months payment when I explained the problem to him.

I am glad they are gone. I was so tired of thier drinking and snipping at each other. And he had a really foul month when he was drunk. I was raised by an alcoholic mother, I just can not stand drunks. Now I can put my craftroom back to use as that was where they were sleeping.
I told the nighbors that they were gone and they feel that they should throw a block party to celebrate. I did not know how much trouble they were causing my nieghbors until now. I told them they should of caught me and told me, but they said they figured I had enough problems with them living here and did not want to add anymore to me. If they throw the block party, they said they will make me the guest of honor. LOL!!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I am glad they are gone too, marti, it sounded like they were causing unnecessary stress for you.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I am causing stress for myself!
