I wish I was up to table dancing Dianne! They were hoping 200 but then with it being a long weekend many were unable to make it..my boys couldn't but bought ticket and tickets on draws.
They have a cooler filled with liquor totaling $400 and Jason made a set of flower boxes for a raffle, Suzanne made a his/her no sew blanket, a friend of theirs donated a Sirius radio and many more draws so lots to buy tickets on, would be my luck if I won anything it would be the cooler. Lol
Thought diesel was around 2
Sharon has an American Eskimo coming back to her, believe he is 6yrs old, she is trying to find a home.for him.
When I went to Foodland this afternoon our little town was quite busy, already lots putting their boat in,,Georgian bay would be really rough going with these temps and winds.
Aching like crazy, won't be a late night I'm hoping, sooo could go to bed..in my Jammie's trying to force myself to get up..wouldn't it be nice if people would have functions n the afternoon?
Pizza dip is cooking so guess I should get a move on.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?Chat with friends old/new
Lots happening, as always here on the forum ..
Had a good time at the Market, bought fresh bread, local farm eggs, local baking ( no butter tarts), mostly met folks we knew and had many good chit chats ..
Came home, and but together the BBQ .. bless Lorna, she is so good at things like that.
Took her an hour, but she DID it ^_^
Wouldn't let DH near it as he gets so frazzled !
Windy here too Dianne .. and lots of wildlife making the 2 terrorists SPUN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have fun at the Buck n Doe Betty .. we call it a SHAG here .. cross between a STAG and a Shower ..
Lorna is having lot of pain in her good knee :-(
She really uses it a lot .. hopefully a cortisone shot will help .. sure hope so ..
Thing is, getting the appt .. because of her meds they have to be careful ..
And, so it goes
Toodles
~M~
Did have fun...was it I who said wouldn't be there long?? Wrong
Yawning and waving at same time
Night night
Gab in the a.m. And a few photo's to share
g'morning - can't sleep, so here I am....
Bob & I are both enjoying our jobs.
lol yesterday I got a call from the police - apparently "Bob's" truck (the one he sold the beginning of Feb) was found apparently abandoned, and his old licence plate was in the back seat so they figured it was still registered to him and called about it. I gave them the name & email address of the fellow who bought it. They said that Parking Patrol may still call us about it, but today the police came by to drop off the licence plate, which we can drop off at the Registry.
Today, I got a call from the police - this time about the rear ended that I was involved in on May 2nd. I hadn't gotten around to reporting it. I was hit from behind by someone who was hit from behind lol
I just have a scratch on my bumper....... nothing to worry about.
Boy, it sure was a "police" couple of days lol
Morning all,
Susan, nice to see you drop in, 3rd times the charm, it's when the police take you to the police station..lol neighbors will start wondering what's going on..
rumours will be just a going! Nice to hear both you and Bab are enjoying your jobs..perhaps you've both found your niche! How is your mom doing?
Going to be a gorgeous day, did the garden walk around this morning with coffee in hand, most favorite time of day, a time to organize oneself, a time to plan the plan..with that I've a load of wash in, good time to get the my bedding done, would love to hang it outside, wonder if I could just set the sheets on the railings, would smell so fresh..
going to find some work clothes, take off washroom trim, put plastic over counter top and wash wall with stp several times..have been told it has to dry for 24hrs before starting to paint so guess the rest of my day will involve playing outside (lawns to cut but no can do till neighborhood gets up)
Off I went last night with salads and 2 hot pizza dips
cool cake, too much dye, hands are still blue from it
so many draws
young man describing the items as each draw was made outdid Vanna White lol
Suzanne and her daughter Danielle (bride)
Danielle and Jason waiting patiently as to see who purchased by the crowd the most hand bands to see who would get the pie in the face..I thought it would be Danielle, but nope, was Jason..
Danielle celebrating
Jason's friends would have none of that, into the cake they went
crowd loved it
so now tell me what you've planned for the day??
Looks like a good time was had by all Betty ... food looks yummy.
Have never heard of the 'pie in the face' .. I don't think it'd done up this way .. but, I sure could be wrong.
Beautiful sunn day, so far, and about 50F .. hoping the day will stay nice.
Lorna and Gord are off for gas for truck and machines .. I may crawl back to bed .. took the MTX last night and haven't slept that well .. got short of breath and some dull pain in my chest .. trust me, it wasn't heart related, it's totally the chemo drug. Still it's a bit unsettling.
Nice to hear from you Susan .. at least the Calgary police force is thorough !
Gonna go lay me down for a bit
Toodles
M
Sure hope Lorna can get relief from her good knee!
Sounds like you had a great time Betty.
Dianne, all I have to do is call my back Dr. for an appointment, but with me already having back surgery, there is not much I can do. My back just decides to flare up every now and then, and not much I can do but take it easy and sit on the heating pad. I am hoping once I decide to go through hip surgery that will help some.
"M", does your med always affect your chest like that? Maybe you need to tell your Dr if it keeps up?
"M" I'm with LindaKay, tell your doctor AND know you are a nurse and know symptoms of heart attack but still worry.
LindaKay feel for you, nothing worse than wanting to go go go and body says no no no.
Robert and Lorraine dropped in, I mentioned last night Greg put charger on lawnmower for me, ooops I didn't know I had to take either positive or negative off or remove battery for winter, now have it on my fall to do list..Robert had cleaned off battery terminals yesterday and he wanted to make sure I'd be cutting grass today so they dropped in on their way to Barrie, got me going so that is great!
Sitting here reading tsp instructions, guess I need to fnd rubber gloved..will get the room washed down, hopefully all goes well by noon I can play outside, have seeds I'd like to get planted.
Clouds over every once in awhile but weatherman says no rain in sight but he has been known to be wrong except when he calls for terrible weather it always comes true..
Greg and Mel are away camping with a group, Kyle and Noah had to work Saturday so didn't go, just called to see if I was to put Sophie and npNed out and take them for a walk and Kyle said they did it already so one less chore for me to do
Marilynne, remember, MTX can cause lung collapse. One of the "normal/possible" side effects is shortness of breath and chest pain/tightness. It is recommended that you talk to your DR if you experience the above symptoms.
Waving hello to you all. I am trying to keep up. Guess I will always be a lurker at heart...GRIN
Mary, hope you have a grand time at Disney this week.
Marion, great news about Sue.
M, Brava for Lorna....she is an inspiration.
So sorry for all of the sadness and pain that rears its' head... I hope each of you are blessed with good news and kindness.
Hey Jean, so nice to see you pop in! How are you doing? Are you doing any gardening?
Oh Jean, how wonderful to see you post! MTX and similar diseases should never be discounted..
Thank you for the blessings
I image your gardens are almost in their prime??
Jean, the girls and I will be at Sachmo Festival this year, read up on it, have you ever been, some say so busy stay away, others say not to be missed?
Just came in, filled lawnmower and think I've more gas on me than in the mower so giving it a bit of time before I turn it on, haven't worked in the washroom yet, all beds have fresh linen, vacuuming done but it's gorgeous out there so decided I would play first then work. Lol
When is your trip Betty? Can't wait to meet up with you girls! I think you said end of June or July?
End of July Lindakay, booked rooms in Texas, Austin, San Antonio and Houston..first night out on 25th is just outside Chicago, depending of course what time we leave.
Think San Antonio is around the 28th or 29th..
Wow, all tuckered out and it isn't even 1pm yet. Love cutting grass, not so much the weeder, have to leVe it for another day..with all the rain we've had the ditches in front have water in them so can't cut yet.
No wonder my tummy is hungry, its past lunch time,.Tempted to eat then put my head down for a bit and get at the washroom..clouding over so perhaps I should be putting lawnmowers away
Betty you have dmail. :)
I am doing better than expected, LK. Thanks for asking. It is still a long road back, but some of the changes along the way will make for a healthier life when all is said and done.
As for the garden, that is one of my regrets. I can not spend time outside like I used to. Vertigo is still a problem, some days worse than others. The garden has proven that sometimes plants can get along just fine without a gardener....and the weeds are thrilled to be left alone... GRRR.
Did the Lycoris aurea grow well for you? They should bloom this year in the Fall.
Yes Betty. I went to the first Sachmo Summerfest in 2001. I enjoyed it, and crowds do not bother me at events like this. I enjoy the music and get a kick out of people watching. Much like Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest, the SachmoFest is something I would recommend doing if the opportunity arises.
These are some of the irises and a clematis from this year. Many of the Daylilies are starting to bud out now.
Sorry to say they are gone. They were growing good and about two weeks ago I went out to water everything in the raised bed and they were gone. Bulbs and all. Not for sure what got them but I was so upset.
OMG Jean, what spectacular color!
Glad you mentioned flowers / weeds, weeds are flourishing, just thinking how on earth will I get all the gardens weeded, just weed what you can and enjoy what blooms, can't do it all.that being said what did I do today? Dug out another 3' along the side of back shed, thought it might be easier to cut grass up to the flower bed then to whipper snip.
Am sure some days are. Overwhelming for you while others you see sunshine and know you are blessed!
Thanks for thumbs up re Satchmo, booked room at Hotel Place D'Armes in April and was surprised I could get a booking at same time of the festival....would hate for the girls to be disappointed.
Well I've gone and done it, layed down, fell asleep, woke around pm and went back to sleep while thinking I should be doing something..there went my schedule but what I did gain is a headache.
Ok, going to try to make up time
Jean, thank you so much re the side effect of MTX .. I'm in quite a quandry here. I TOLD my rhuematologist I was having shortness of breath and a cough when I saw him in April .. he said ..'OH' .. that was it .. I questioned it to no avail ..
It's a wicked drug, and, I can see myself coming OFF of it .. that said, I would be leaving my 3 types of arthritis UN treated :-(
Many questions ..
50/50 day here, broke in the new barbie .. steaks were delish and the Caesar salad was a hit ..
Rain off and on, ON right now ..
Making it an early night
Toodles
~M~
Well you will have questions ready to ask at your next appt "M"
Mouth watering re your steak, maybe tomorrow I shall try and cook myself one, not sure I have propane though.
Looked like rain here as well but has held off.
Thought things over, enough is enough, can undertake the washroom this week. Medicine cabinet, mirror will have to come off the wall and I'm not up to it. I decided I'd make tomorrow a me day and just play.
Hello Jean, so nice to see you posting. I think about you often and wonder how you are doing so your update was nice to read. Love the plant pictures.....I have trouble growing both here.
Hello To All;
I am trying to keep up I promise ! Moonie your iris and clematis are outstanding.
I purchased a clematis for Hubs last Fathers Day and they are rare to find at an acceptable price... it has been blooming for us for the first time but blooms are white (thought they'd be purple) but they are very nice and I have iris that bloomed for the first time (from previous swaps) that are just gorgeous. I am blessed to have *NOT* lost all that I thought I did....
Dianne. ....(HUGS) Love hearing about the pups... hoping they will behave especially Duke....I am sure it is difficult for him to acclimate to his new home.....Takes time.
Betty so excited that you can go back to your Place D'Armes - that is where you stayed last 2 times if I am not mistaken and it sure seemed like a perfect location. Will have to research Satchmo.... there are festivals every weekend in New Orleans ! That is one I've heard a lot of....
Katie sad to hear your mom's treatment of you...surely that is unacceptable and abusive.
Marilyn - Steak sounds delish. I am still paying close attention to remedies to cough and LOCAL honey is one. Pineapple juice is another (Fresh) that I have heard of recently.
Betty I have beautiful YELLOW daisy like flowers and think of you often - they are from seeds you gave me and are brightest things in the back yard as of yet.
YES - work tomorrow and youngest DSD and her beau come in town. I have a "Crock pot breakfast" recipe I will try for Tuesday morning and we will leave est. 6am for (drop off Belle) and then New Orleans Airport.
I am NOT a savvy airline traveler as we usually drive. I found a beautiful carry on bag that seems to fit requirements (10x16x24) and it is the one Betty brought me last year and that gave me a HUGE SMILE! LOTS of pockets to put things like kleenex and sample sizes for stuff if the kids need them.
Hubs, me, DS, his GF, DSD20 and her BF. We will (hopefully ) depart NOLA airport 10a arrive Orlando 12:40p.
DSD in Orlando is down. Broke up with BF. Not able to secure a part via audition. Not the end of the world to me but to her it is.
VERY difficult to leave "The Shop" . Hoping it is not a horrible decision. We are still growing and seemingly on the cusp of "Breaking Even" Our Average Day in May is $963 and I feel we need $1200 per day to make any money on this venture.
Feeling very bad about my Dad who just got home from Heart valve repair surgery. I made those ressies way back and they are non-refundable....
But somehow feel I should have cancelled this trip to be with him.
He is recovering better than anyone imagined. Hoping to head his way July 4th weekend.
Hugs to all and missing you all ever so much
Mary
When I am able to do some more clean up, LK, I will send you some more. Mine just died back for the summer rest, so I will gather a few for you. If you think it might be a critter, you can use 1inch hardware cloth and make a "cage" for the bulbs, or just place them in 2-3 gallon nursery pots and sink the pot in the bed. That method makes it really easy to divide them.
Thanks for the kind thoughts and comments. I do try to keep up with you all and hope you know that each of you are in my thoughts often.
Marion, some of the clematis seem to be doing better this year than they have in a while...I think some plants thrive on a bit of neglect.
M, you may find this of use re: MTX

I have a white Clematis also Mary. Hugs to you...sorry Disney didn't work out for DSD...have a grand time and give worry a break...
Morning all,
Barb, what an absolutely handsome young man Brandon is..a looker his girlfriend is as well
How proud you must be! Hard to believe our grandsons are no longer babies but all grown up.
Mary, sure do miss you, yes, same hotel right in the French quarter that you came to. Fantastic news re the Shop , am sure the individual you are leaving the responsibility to will try to impress and do well..you'll have phone contact to help out should they run into trouble. re bag and yellow flowers.
How thankful you must be that your Father's surgery went well and he is quickly recovering, before long you will be able to visit.
Sorry to hear about DSD, will she return home? All overwhelming things for her.
Jean are these photo's from this year? Beautiful..with high temps sure hooe you have a window you can sit at to take in the beautiful view.
Marion, are you playing in the gardens? Bet you are so enjoying being home!
What a gorgeous morning, changed my plansas I said yesterday, just was taking on much too much so today I'm sitting with coffee in hand deciding how I will fill my day, just going to do bit of weeding and whatever
Enjoy your day..wish I had some pretties to post but just a couple blooms in the gardens.
Morning everyone! Jean that would be awesome if you could send more, and I will place them in pots this time! Thanks so much. Love your blooms!
Barb, your Grandson sure looks happy! Like Betty said they sure grow fast!
Mary, enjoy your trip, I know you will be thinking of the shop and Father in law, but try to have a good time!
Got mirror and cabinet off the wall, thinking of setting it in the garden, could add a few bobbles to it and make it garden art..was unsure about painting the washroom, but changing to a more modern mirror would not have been possible without painting!
Lordy, I've got a hunger on
Ate a blt, corn, ice cream and still looking for more
What's with that?
Hi every body !! I am back. a long, crazy, emotional visit with DIL and grand daughters. I had a very hard time with emotions, baby Ryleigh 1st birthday, and Daddy not there. we skyped for her cake. That was wonderful, but hit me hard. I had to leave room. Malena came looking for me and we hugged and cried together, over missing Daddy.
Her Mom gets upset when she cries, she came and started to say something...guess I gave her the evil eye, as she said " I guess I will just leave you two alone" I said "good Idea" . poor baby gets griped at, and told to "suck it up" whenever she starts to cry no matter the reason. she is ONLY 4, she should be able to cry when she misses Daddy, when she falls off her bike and skins her knee....
I had a lot of angry moments this visit. I try not to interfere in how they are raising their kids, but OMG to tell her to suck it up when she falls!!! that really pissed me off!!! no wonder she does not want to try riding when just her Momma is there. And DIL says " I just don't understand why she won't ride her bike!!!" ARRRGGHHHHH @#%#@#@$^&*
It was good to have a visit, but hubs and I came home a little more than frazzled, we both slept in this morn, and now just kinda fiddlin around. going to go do some sewing soon. I know that will calm the beast within...
Jean, beautiful flowers, and it was good to see you posting.
Mary, take a deep breath and have a great disney visit.
Betty, DON'T WORK TOO HARD, yes yelling, love you and want you to take care.
Barb, wonderful prom pics.
can't think of what else I had to say
thanks for being here for me to vent to, Y'all are the ONLY ones I can cry to....
Love and hugs ♥♥♥♥
will be back with a few photos from phone.
Thunder, I am so sorry this visit was stressful but I am in total agreement about the crying issue. My DIL tells her girls to do the same. I see red every time it happens. The are children for pity sakes!! Better get off my soapbox before I say things I shouldn't.
Barb, Wow!! Handsome grandson, date and horse flesh. I can see you smiling from here. You have reason to be proud.
Mary, enjoy Disney...as if I needed to really say that. LOL
Yes, Jean some of my plants are doing much better since this past winter....especially my hosta. Talk about putting on growth!!
Betty, I have been dabbling in the yard but mostly cleaning out the last 4+ years of accumulated debris. Ah being home is wonderful, fantastic and the absolute best place to be for now.
Waving to all..off for some errands and a doctor's appointment.
Oh Thunder, heart goes out to you..think that is part of what is wrong with the world, it's ok to cry and show emotion, why do people try and stop a natural process then they say kids are unfeeling! You did very well letting it slide, not so sure I could have. How wonderful you were able to Skype with your sun during cake time, I'm sure once he went back to his lodgings and alone he may have shed a tear or two..what these boys give up for the well being of all..when will he come home? So love the photo's
Still thinking of relocating?
Marion, you are getting there, bit at a time..have you been speaking daily with Sue?? I gather she is doing better as you are still home.
Got the washroom washed with t.s.p. now have to rinse now and let dry..one step closer to painting..says wall must dry thoroughly before painting so might just wait for the weekend but will do edging near floor so that I won't pain the new tile.
Big sigh
Sorry to hear you had a bad visit Thunder. It is so hard to tell daughter in laws how to raise their kids! ((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))
Marion, sounds like your busy sorting and remodeling, you don't over do it either!
SUSAN, just saw this post on downstairs computer, best I press 'send' after a few days'
Morning all,
Susan, nice to see you drop in, 3rd times the charm, it's when the police take you to the police station..lol neighbors will start wondering what's going on..
rumours will be just a going..lol
forgot the photo's awhile back..
took off the mirror and medicine cabinet (which I don't think will match, bit country for a more modern look but we shall see
3rd photo shows how the wood has aged, couldn't possibly install new mirror and seeing the lights and darks sooo that made an easy decision to paint the pine.
got the little water feature together on back deck, didn't put it inside over the winter, was so sure the pump froze, but hadn't.
one weekend I'll set aside when I power wash the house time to take grime off the decking, won't be for a few weeks so I'd best be patient
It's hard to say anything to a daughter too. Stacy thinks nothing of "putting me in my place" if she thinks I have overstepped her line.......
Beautiful photos Thunder. Both girls are so darn cute......
I chuckled at Thunder's use of Y'all... My brother from NC was here over the weekend and that is all we heard. We got together yesterday afternoon. First time since 1987 that we have all been together.
Love. The family photo Barb, can you tell us who is the eldest down, no age required, just line up!
Great you got to get together Barb!! I know I sure enjoyed my family visit last fall !!
Betty , My house is for sale. don't know if, or when it will sell, and don't know where we are going, if/when it does. we are very torn between closer to beach somewhere here in south. or closer to grand daughters, somewhere in the hills of Northern Georgia, or North Carolina. have looked a bit at South Carolina also....
Just found out my brother, from Hawaii, is moving to South Carolina. and.....If my niece's family moves (as her husband wants, in three years) to South Carolina!! My Sister says she will move there too!!! as she does not wish to live far away from her daughter, or two grand sons. and she says she will be taking Momma with her!!
Maybe we will all end up in SC wouldn't that be crazy!!
My son wants to remain in the area, North Carolina, after he gets of military. so we are thinking that is a good place to think about. closer to grandkids, closer to my Momma (currently Massachusetts). Kyle will probably end up being at a base out of new england, RI or Virginia area, so we would be closer to him....Waylon?? who knows. If the rest of us end up in NC, he may just re-locate ?..
Hubs would be much Happier in the hills, with changing seasons. I am thinking I would be Happier, closer to grands. I love the beach, and hubs is willing to look at places closer to a beach, but he would be much happier in the hills, as long as I could go for a beach visit now and then I would be fine. From anywhere in NC, SC, or even Georgia, we could go for a weekend to the beach....
I don't like snow, but if we can get what we want for this house, and I can retire....I would not have to drive to work in the snow, I could hibernate with my sewing machines on snow-days I would be more than fine with that.
only time will tell.
we are trying to make a move that will be good for us. not a move for kids or grands, or other family. but closer to them all sure would be nice. As we are hoping this one will be our last move.
Lots of decisions Thunder, as you say both you and hubs have to be happy or it will not work!
Know I'd sure be opting for the beach vs snow. Lol The cold this year sure played havoc with these old bones.
Guess you will not have to worry about it till the time comes.
My mom's doing fine - 95 yo now - wow!! Guess we're all getting older.......
4 years old "Suck it up"????????? NO! They need to clean their eyes lol Sorry the visit wasn't what you hoped for (((((((Thunder))))))) I agree - she'll be afraid to try anything if she's afraid to get hurt & cry.........
(((((((((((Hugs))))))))))) to all those in need, and to those who don't know they're in need - you ARE loved :-)
Here's a funny for all y'all sewers out there - http://prntscr.com/3kosli
