Nevaeh looks like a princess, hard to believe that she's with her GRANDPA .. young looking fella ^_^
Like Barb says, great to hear the parents get along .. makes a big difference as life goes on.
The 'Mom situation' .. well .. I was the first girl in my Dad's family in 27 years .. as well as being the only daughter after 3 sons .. I was spoiled rotten .. and .. I sometimes think back and am almost embarrassed by that fact .. somehow or another the Nuns turned me around .. took'em 4 years, but I finally came to the realization I was NOT the only person that mattered .. my dear Mom (and Dad) God bless'em were my whole world .. my brothers were much older than me, and, my Mom and I were best friends in her later life .. she died in my arms, and, with my blessing, she had suffered long enough ..
NOW ... we had some dandy disagreements as well, but, usually after a couple of days of 'cooling off' we were thick as thieves again ..
If Heaven had a phone I'd be on it talking to her right now ^_^
34F right now .. a LONG weekend here in Canada, and, SNOW is expected in my area .. it won't stay, but, it'll be a wee pain in the butt for a bit ..
Lorna is off to see the prosthetist at1pm .. he is going to have to get his act together BIGTIME now that she's going back to work !! She needs adjustments NOW ...
Think I'll see if I can manage a coffee .. if any of you have a Keurig coffee maker you'll understand .. I bought some KCups of coffee, and lordy, is that coffee S T R O N G !!!!!!!!
course, I bought 10 of them !

Love that picture Karen!
Ladies, so sorry you all had hard lives growing up.
You can keep the K cup "M". Too strong for me!
Barb & Marilynne, It's just Nevaeh's grandparents who get along. Her mom is the one who is living with a guy she left re-hab with and just had a baby and isn't talking to most of the family. Nevaeh's grandmother has guardianship, she and my son couldn't stay married but get along well now. They went together to give Nevaeh this trip.
I'm so happy that my children, grands and greats, have no doubts they are loved by all around them.
Morning all, lordy should be by body clock mid afternoon as I knew Robert was coming over for his boat cuddy cushions and the last one was only 1/2 done soooo 2 a.m. I woke up, shook my head and talked myself into staying in bed, then came 3:30a.m. nope, go back to sleep, 3rd time was the charm, got up at 4a.m. and was just finishing off when he arrived. Had him do the stapling on one of the main cushions, only one with a wooden backing and he said I saved all the work for him. He was thrilled, wanted to pay me, said no, insisted and took $200 out and said likely not enough, I said just give me $50 nope said we would go halvers, $100 , we started to laugh as I said I lost 3 shrubs this winter and I'd go buy them this afternoon and plant.
Rita left at 8:00, shed a few tears she and I, Robert was shaking his head, said they way we were acting it was as though she was moving to a different country vs a few streets away.
Today I will wash the walls, wash bedding, dust, floors and room will look as though no one ever lived in it.
Nice job on the cushions Betty! Bet it won't be long before she comes back for a long visit!
Going back to 'moms' my grandmother raised me and she was an angel, and like you "M" I could do no wrong! She was one of the most old fashioned grannies, loved to sew and quilt, ohhh guess I did learn something lol When in her last 3 years of life we took turns visiting the home, my day was Saturday as I worked, I'd take her out to lunch, a ride..always the same thing when I'd arrive, she'd say 'how did you know I was here?' she could tell me stories of her youth and yet I'd walk out of the room and as I entered she would ask the same thing..she lived to 99, infact 2 other of her children were in the same home and a few had already passed on. She'd say nobody would visit so I bought diaries and left them so that as each visited they could write..when she would tell me that I'd read her entries and she'd say 'I believe it because you tell me but I think you say it just to make me feel better..We'd go and visit her son downstairs who had both legs amputated, she pat the area where his legs were and say 'Oliver, you would feel so much better if you walked' ooops, had to say he had no legs , she was amazaing, well love, Sooo miss her ..
Guess I was blessed with her raising me..know I was.
hugs for those remembering their motherly experiences, both good and bad..
and you are right, send Debbie my way for a few weeks vacation, do us both good.
Navaeh's a gorgeous young lady. I always kept in touch with Jeff's ex wife, she has done a marvellous job raising the boys, Jeff as well, but there hasn't been any squabbling, keeps me updated, always receive something on special occasions from her, sure makes life more interesting.
Meant to say Katie, you always give me a chuckle with your posts, you've such a sense of humour.
Karen, guess our mom experiences makes us better people and moms
well best I go have something to eat, worked up an appetite
I am going to the hairdresser's at 4, although she says she doesn't want any food that is in the cupboards and freezer I'll pack some up, lots I don't eat, some I'll never get to eat so it will help her stock up
It's snowing!! I thought we were done with that, at least it's not sticking. I does look pretty coming down, though!
OMG, tell me it ain't so..
you must live at the very tip of Illinois?
I never thought that your temps were so much colder than our and that you had snow at this time of year..will it damage the flowers/shrubs that are just starting to say hello?
Hubby and I both had struggles growing up, I think it made us better parents as we were both determined ours would have better and always know they were loved. He was such a good hands on dad. Still is as a grandfather. Never see one of our kids, grands or greats that we don't get a hug & kiss coming and going.
Grrrrr
Mom just called, nice as pie..she is about 4 miles from here helping my aunt Muriel pack as aunt Muriel moves from her home on the river which she signed over to her daughter then some to do's now she doesn't want to stay there, going to a seniors apartment building..mom was coming nto town for crates, might drop in..yuk
Talked to mom but she didn't drop in..I kept my cool, never mentioned a thing, voice soft and low..she went on about still having so much to do and all the furniture she's giving away, I don't need any, she mention the lawyer called HER, an untruth and said she couldn't get out of the deal but likely the couple who bought could..she was telling me all that was wrong with the place and likely they wouldn't buy it if they knew..another untruth..
I said that if the only condition was that it past home inspection that nothing else they can do..so was quiet..know she is up to something, perhaps it's just stirring things up for attention..we will see. deal closes I believe the 6th or 7th..Jim's birthday was the 6th and my DB Mike's on the 7th..
so I was a good girl
feels like it should be late afternoon, guess when you get up at 4am it should feel that way. put my bedding on the back bedroom Rita stayed in, dusted, vacuumed and even cleaned under the bed..
ooops, stained glass 4' blue heron still hiding under there, golly he must be 6 or 7
he'll be an antique by the time I decide what might be done with him.
Good luck, Betty!
Feeling a bit slow today. Didn't get up until 5 till 11. Of course, I didn't get to bed until 6:30, so guess I deserved a few hours of shut eye! Spent last night in the ER with Bill. He was afraid he was having a stroke or had a blood clot in his leg. All tests came back negative and he is better today. I'm wondering since we're coming up on the anniversary of his big thing from last year if some of it might be mental. Don't think I will mention that to him, cause I know it is very real what he is feeling.
Guess I better get busy. I have 41 plants to get ready to transport to the G/C plant sale sight.
Cold here, too!
Karen you're DGGD is adorable. She'll never forget that trip!!
Betty, he wants to live in Ohio......
That is not good about bill Joyce, of course you just might be on the right track..was overwhelming and he's bound to think of what might have been.
The way you work just you deserve to be relaxing..
No, don't think he wants to live in Ohio otherwise he would have said 'take me with you!' when you left here last year,,poor think, must think of a place to set him
No he definitely doesn't want to live in Ohio!! He should live at an address that is on Blue Heron Point!! Hint, hint! He would look lovely in my family room. Oh, that must be my "outside" voice speaking. :-)
I think he would look better in Texas! ^_^ Betty you better get him finished, you don't want him to be lonely all by himself stuck under the bed!
He is finished, lost interest in what I was originally going to do with him
Ohhh off for hair cut..much needed
Whoa! wait just a darn minute here. That fellow definitely wants to live in northern MI. I have a steel one which hubby set at waters edge. It's now completely under water. I just miss him terribly. Sniff sniff.
^_^ Looks like Betty needs to get busy and make one for all of us! ^_^
Now that sounds like a good solution especially since she is never busy.
Betty, you're going to have a RAFFLE for the HERON .. ^_^
It'd be like a SWAP ...
No $$ involved .. just votes or something like it ... hahahaha .. always the organizer am I LoL
Best of luck with your Mom .. I think she's 'untethered and blowing in the wind', doesn't quite know what to do ... what was is no more, and, she simply doesn't KNOW what she wants to dowith the rest of her life ..
Lorna had a MEGA visit with the prosthetist .. he is absolutely over the moon because she is going back to work! FIRST above knee amp he has had that has done that ..
SO .. May 28 Lorna gets a NEW leg from the measurements and such taken today .. May 29 she meets with the head Honcho from Toronto .. and signs her work contract .. all so exciting, and, scary at the same time ..
Snow on our horizon .. cookin up a stir fry, best I get to choppin stuff ..
Toodles
~M~
Nope, Betty never has anything to do! ;)
busy, whomever?
"M" thought mom might have dropped in but she didn't, busy helping aunt Muriel..exciting about Lorna, let's hope she doesn't overdo trying to prove she can do the job as before..luckily the dr. Is supporting her going to work.
Stir fry sounds delicious..I've spaghetti left over and bought corn on the cob so that is my eats.
Hair cut nice and sort, made 2 perm appts..on for early June Nd one for the week before we do our roadtrip.
Was in town, Lordy got everything done in record time, think likely because I had a list.
Managed to buy paint for washroom, cupboard will be white, walls grey/blue/silver, brushed nickel light fixture, mirror with brushed Nichols clasps, brushed nickel everything. Lol
Got all I needed in line of groceries to make salads and hot pizza dip
Met next door neighbor while at Foodland, Corey is the one I gave the metal shed to last year, the air conditioner when I had central air..said he'd be over to look at the cupboard I'm trying to get rid of, nice piece but too big, says he takes everything that is free..front of this cabinet has a beautiful painted insert..I should just keep the insert and keep the panel I painted.
Hope he takes it, I sure need space in back shed..next week's cleaning project. If he doesn't take it I'll set it at the road, someone would take it.
Big sigh, tired, and I'm yawning, just made myself a coffee and took a few treats out of the freezer, can you guess what Marion? I will share Marion if you guess what my treat is. Lol
I'll take a butter tart along with the heron!!! He is beautiful -- I know!!!!! Hope you decide what to do with him Betty. He is so beautiful and deserves to be seen.....
I'll have plain thank you, I knew it was butter tarts, too!
Oh Betty, he did whisper to me EVERY night while I was there, didn't I tell you that? Thought I must have.
The insert is beautiful, you should keep it.
Starting to drag. Wish me luck tomorrow!
Insert would make a pretty table top with a good protective finish on it. Or serving tray,
Wait just a minute! I want a butter tart or.....one each please.
I still say the heron belongs where I live on Blue Heron Point!
Morning,
Drats it's one of those nights, you awake Dianne?
I'll have to make another batch of butter tarts lol
Morning and OFF we go ..
DH and myself are off to the Country Market .. LOTSA Butter Tarts there Lol
Have a splendiferous day everyone ..

Heading out to couple of garden club sales today. I've got some plants that I'm donating to my local club. My penstemon and Monarda were just spreading too much, and I feel bad throwing out healthy plants, so I potted some up for the club to sell.
Have a good day, everyone!
Deb
Both your mornings involve things I'd love to do, maybe one weekend!
"M" you had better buy a dozen or two, they will go quickly with these gals.
?don't think Pestomen and Monarda are plants we have here, will google the.
I a,ways look forward to our plant sale, usually 1st Saturday in June.
Does remind me I have to divide some of my plants
Girls will be here shortly for their sewing day..BIL coming over wanting a piece done he didn't realize he needed, sooo busy busy day ahead
Cold and windy here. Was raking on the east side of the house and it quickly became a lost cause. Switched to the gardens on the south side of the house and lo and behold I found hyacinths and daffies in bloom. My red orieental poppy has survived.... wooohooo.
While I was not sleeping last night I looked out to see a doe munching down on the 1 hosta that has come up and flourished. Not too worried as it has been chomped down to the ground several times by either deer or rabbits. There are 5 other hosta in different gardens just starting to poke through. Plus 2 of my bleeding hearts and the 2 Goat's Beard are doing erll also.
Have fun at the plant sale Debbie.
Stopped yesterday and looked at some bedding plants but since I already have some downstairs plus it is too cold to plant I resisted.I could feel my hand starting to itch and reach out but was a good girl.
I knew it was butter tarts too. I think I will make some as my contribution to the Storms Lane Social on May 24. It is also Diesel's BD so I will probably make a cake to take along also. If not cake then rhubarb pie.
Now I feel like I want to sleep so think I will take a nap. Think I will set the clock though so I don't sleep too long.
Later!
Dianne
Dianne,
sleep while you can, I've been going through these 'awake all night' nights, keep thinking of forging through so I will sleep through the night but that doesn't seem to make a difference.
Cold here as well, hope you are dressed well as to not catch a cold
I never have much luck with bleeding hearts..wish I did
so love the white ones..were a grandma's favorite
last week there was but a sighting on my goats beard, this morning they are about 3" high, the hops are growing a half foot each day, fastest growing vine I've ever seen..3 arbor will soon be covered.
Linda and Dianne ate last of the butter tarts, one left on counter so I took out another bag..time to make another batch. think they would go well at the social. ohhh is Diesel 2 or 3?
girls left, please with their bags, lordy this is Linda's 6th, 3rd black and white!
Fun having them here today.
Now it's making salads and hot pizza dip for the stag/doe tonight. Linda and Dave are going so I shall get to chat with her again tonight. we will look at schedules and she and Dianne will come up in a few weeks and do a xmas tree skirt, think I made 12 kit bags so no cutting involved
Robert dropped in, cleaned all the battery cables for me, need to charge battery again then I can be grass cutting..tomorrow I'll get at it..
no rest for the wicked they say!
It's hot and humid here. I just sold almost 200 t shirts to the local Rotary club. Am working on another order for a group down the highway.
Had a great visit with my neighbor Lisa Marie yesterday - over two hours. There is so much going on for me. I was able to talk a lot, get some good information and keep reminding myself of priorities. So easy to get discombobulated.
Today Tony told me there was a bad fire in town. The house where I lived for five years - which got flooded to the roof two days after I moved out - got burned up. Also the house of a former friend who turned on me in a "kill the messenger" situation. (she was also owner of my former house that burned up.) Tony and I just grinned at each other and shed some crocodile tears. We're so bad!!
We should be able to pay for the land my house is on next week. We thought it was paid for but found out just over a year ago that it wasn't. One of those Mexican things. While I have survived the time since then it has been difficult and a mojor part of my many depressed times. Now that the crisis is nearing an end, I'm just exhausted.
We can now start to get back on track for home improvements. Don
t know when the car license will get resolved or I'll be able to go to Ca. but I'll worry about those things later. If I'm meant to see Amma this summer she will arrange it.
Don't worry if I'm babbling I'm shedding major worries.
hugs, katie
Omg, all wonderful news..well perhaps not the house burning down but the t-shirts, that is a plus, your getting social with Lisa Marie and that the land is finally being put into your name.
Know you are disappointed in not being able to drive to California but perhaps in a few months it will be sorted..can you drive it at all where you are?
Shed the worries all you want, so nice to see you on a roll!
The store next door is promoting Korean food, we're dishing Unt free meals..didn't know they were, was out saying goodbye to Linda and Dianne when Clara's son came over and invited us to try the food..talk about yummy, bought something pre-cooked but frozen, not sure what it was but delist.
Well, got the fixings for the stag done now I need to bath and make myself presentable.
Sounds like you all keeping busy today? Hubby is helping by clearing the east side garden. My back has been giving me fits lately, so he is doing all the lifting! It is nice to get that done! I need to get angel trumpets in the dirt!
Great that he can do the heavy work LindaKay, so envy yo u having trumpets, can't grow them here.
When do you go back to the doctors?
Babble away Katie. We are all good listeners and very proud that you feel you can share these things with us.
Has anyone heard from Susan? I hope things are going well for her at the new job.
Never did get a nap but did lay down and read for a bit. Got a bit more exercise in this afternoon then I had planned on ... Sir Duke decide to take off. He is like greased lightening. Finally found him down by Mosquito Creek - I heard beaver splashing into the water so figured Duke had to be close.I had just turned my head to look at a bird and he was gone. Diesel sticks with me so I didn't have to worry about both of them marauding around the neighbourhood. Diesel is going to be 2 on his BD Betty.
Have fun at the Doe and Buck tonight Betty. Planning on table dancing? How many people are they expecting?
Oh Mary departure date is getting close. Not that you are excited or anything.
The sun just came out - nicest part of the day. Still windy and chilly though. I had the thermostat set at 58F and the boiler clicked on. Yep it is cold. Feel sorry for those camping at the local campgrounds. I certainly won't be going in swimming this weekend.
Does everyone have plans for your long weekend? Hoping it will be a big weekend for the local businesses. The community relies on tourist trade. With the price of gas I am wondering if it will stop some people from visiting.
Barb what are you and Norm up to this weekend? Can you BBQ where you are now? What happened with the hanging basket idea you had?
Time to think about something for dinner. I'm thinking fish and chips. I miss the old fish and chip shop we had in my home town. Remember when they used to wrap your order in newspaper?
Dianne
