Marti, I would love bothe the savlia and lantana. My S Coccinea croaked
a few yeas ago in the drought and rhen I got sick & never replaced them :(
Becky, I would love any sorts of cacti - did you know http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/66798/ is peeled, de-spined, but into
pieces and then candied ? The candied cactus is then used to stuff into tamales.
But they have to grow big enough to work with, and that might be a long time LOL
2014 N Central TX RU May 18th (Arlington) TRADE THREAD #2
Baja. I can bring you a Spineless cactus.
Rodger that, Baja. I'll bring them for you.
Baja I had no idea about the Horse Crippler being edible, but I'm not surprised either. It's amazing the plants Americans shun, that are appreciated as valuable food crops elsewhere, isn't it? I did freeze some prickly pears last fall, recently thawed them out, juiced them, and add a few drops to my hummer feeder, just enough to make it slightly pink. It's a great attractant and not harmful like red food coloring or even beet juice. The beet juice can poison the birds with too much iron, but hummers have been observed dipping their beaks into overripe opuntia fruit, and it's deemed "safe" for them. Sorry to get so OT, I'll bring you some cacti also :)
StillPlaysWDirt, I'll bring you the alpine strawberry.
OK I left off somewhere in the first trade post! (please keep replies and requests short, thread is getting way too confusing. I went back and picked up these additional requests and trades.
I will add these to my list with others.
Asking for/from:
Ilovejesus – Org Crocosmia blubs & the L.A. Iris
Tx flower child – Clay pots & square suet feeder, if one is left
Bring for:
SPW Dirt – Yellow sedum http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/873/
N3rdLaw – JP Phlox
Baja – Flame Acanthus
Stephanietx – Rudbeckia & poop (from fall)
Covenant – Frostweed 1g
TFC – I am bringing cuttings from ? epi – cererus, Blue Crown Passiflora
Steadycam – B & B Salvia, Golden Groundsel, Rudbeckia
Sheila - A square suet feeder is yours. Clay pots will be generally available. I haven't yet done an inventory of sizes, shapes, etc. Let me know if you're looking for a specific size clay pot. But I'll put 'giving Sheila clay pots' on my list, as well as the suet feeder.
I didn't know that you have a cutting from an epi-cereus for me but am very happy to know it! Also didn't know you were bringing me a Blue Crown Passiflora but also very happy to get it. Unless I hear otherwise, I'm guessing these are in addition to the West Tx Mistflower and Lyre Leaf Sage.
I still have a pot of TX betony, 2 Salvia pentstemoniodes, 2 wood violets and 1 fame flower if anyone is interested.
N3rdLaw - I'd be happy to take 1 of the Salvia pentstemoniodes off your hands. I see where it's evergreen (dunno about this year) and that's a good thing.
Just saw where others would like the salvia pentstemoniodes. Let them have 1st choice b/c I do have a lot of salvias coming back.

Covenantgarden and Steadycam- Doing a last minute check and saw that y'all want clay saucers. I can definitely bring you some of various sizes. I've got a number of them laying around that I have to try to remember to turn upside down before the skeeters start breeding in them. Haven't inventoried them yet but will still add them to my 'giving' list.
ILJ99 - I have two trellis that are 12 inches top to bottom with birds and vines, etc. on them. Will be glad to add them to your yard art collection if they sound like something you want.
ALL - Is anyone interested in any or all of the 120 or so 3'' plastic pots for transplants? Would just as soon recycle them if no one is at all interested.

Txflowerchild, yes please bring the 3" pots, I can def use them :)
SPWD - Thank you! You got those little boogers! If I find more being discarded (people round here are landscaping) would you want them?
ILJ99 - Do you want me to put your name on the two 2.75 gallon plastic pots or are you waiting for me to inventory all pots? I'm asking b/c of something you put on your list that I'm giving you. I'm just trying to clarify, but either way, no worries.

Yes please :)
Also all, I have some list updating to do later today when I'm not busy, bear with me..
tx_flower_child I would love to have these
two trellis that are 12 inches top to bottom with birds and vines, etc
two 2.75 gallon plastic pots
I pretty much have all sizes of pots covered but the 2 gallon and larger sizes. I can't seem to talk any landscapers into giving me the ones they want to throw away. I hope they recycle.
I have atleast 10 Amaryllis I can also share. picture below. They are not in pots and have bloomed or finish blooming this year already. A lady didn't want them and so I was so glad to take them.
ILJ99 - I will put your name on the two 2.75 gallon pots. And will also bring those little trellises along with your whirligig. Agree that it is awful that so many of the nurseries and others don't at least recycle the pots and flats. The one place in Dallas that I know does is North Haven Gardens. I used to take stuff there but now I save it for the RUs.
I will gladly accept an Amaryllis or 2 (or 3 or 4).
OAK LEAVES
Stephanie requested oak leaves and I have 4 bags of them. (Did you want that many?) I could swear I saw that someone else wanted leaves but I just went thru all the lists and didn't see another request. Could put my glasses on. Anyway, due to yesterday's storm, I lost some small branches and could bag up plenty more oak leaves. I could also mix them with magnolia leaves (mine), pecan tree leaves (neighbors), dogwood leaves (neighbors) and still have to look to see what else is down.
So please let me know if you want leaves, only oak or mixed bag, and how many bags you would like. I use the 39 gallon bags but I only fill them about half way so they're easy to carry.
Thank you.
You got 4 amaryllis and still have plenty to give everyone that wants atleast 1
After every RU I am completely out of the 3" pots so I would like some of them as well, Txflowerchild.
Sandy, I would like 4 more of the amaryllis bulbs.
txflowerchild - Please and thank you for the saucers. :)
Sheila - Thank you for the frostweed! :)
Cheryl, I'll take one of the salvia pentstemoniodes. How tall does it get?
SPWD and Steadycam - I updated my list so that it shows you each are getting 'some 3" plastic pots'. That way y'all can each decide at the RU on how many to take.
Cheryl, I would love to have one of your Salvia pentstemoniodes please.
Okay all, I think my trade list is finally complete.. if I've forgotten something, please lmk. Also, Tuesday will be my last day to dig plants, so if you see something please let me know by Monday night.
ilovejesus, do you still have any of the amaryllis left? Also, yes I would love one of your iris :)
steadycam, I would love a coral vine and magenta iris if they are still available.
txflowerchild, can I please have some southern wood fern? I saw a very pretty fern at walmart today and it turned out to be a SWF!
It's yours stephanie.
Hello my friends! I am not sure if I can make it to the RU. No trade necessary.I can send along with Dennis
1 french hollyhock
1 coral berry (native)
1 double kerria
But you can't trade hugs if you don't come Anna! We will miss you if you don't make it my friend.
SPWD, got you down for coral vines and magenta iris.
Anna, we would miss you if you didn't come.
Sheila I have one for you too.
