Anna, I didn't see a list at the top from you. Did I miss it?
2014 N Central TX RU May 18th (Arlington) TRADE THREAD #2
So glad you changed your mind Anna and are going to join us!
Dennis SPWD would love to have the other one as her want list is for Agave's so I am asking for her please http://www.yuccado.com/agave-lophantha-splendida.html Thanks
If no one else wants it, I can take the coralberry. However, let others have first dibs on it.
SWPD - If it's not too late, can you set aside any of the following tomatoes for my guest? I think her 1st choice is Mortgage Lifter. She also would like : Matt's wild cherry, Blueberry, Black cherry, Yellow Currant, Cherokee Purple, and Pink Bumblebee.
ALL - Please review my list to make sure I'm listed under 'Giving" everything I've promised.
I still can't commit but want to send my love and hugs (and some plants) to you all. I will drop them by Dennis if I can't be there.I also dug up some blue morning glory seedlings if anyone wants.
I am ready also without pictures. Going to a plant trade in Houston tomorrow (no pretrades) and wanted to be ready and double checked for Sunday. I sure hope I haven't forgotten anything.
Wow I've been offline more than ever this past week.. I've never been so busy I swear, between kids school, sports, out of town guests, roundup, and now a vacation to port aransas on Thursday, I'm swamped! Tomorrow I plan on labeling everything I promised with recipients names.
Txflower, I'll put aside what I can of the tomatoes but I may not have enough of a specific variety.. I'll know for sure tmrw.
I know I have a few things out there that won't be too pretty after this week.. I'll update tmrw as I go. Like the kalanchoe (I think I promised some to baja) is completely white like it sunburned! I don't know how that's possible since it's been outside but I guess I changed it's exposure juuuust enough :(
Sandy you are a doll, thank you so much for looking out for me with the agave! Yes Dfwdennis, if that variegated beauty is still available I'd love to bring her home :))
Bananna (I love that name btw) if it's not too late, and if no one else wants it, I'd like the kerria, it's really pretty and I see it likes shade! And a morning glory seedling too if you still have any? Thanks and I hope to meet you at next RU :)
I just want to say that whatever I end
up with, I will be truly grateful for !
You are all just the greatest bunch of
people !
Becky, If the kalanchoe looks bad, bring
it anyway. If it doesn't make it doesn't
make it. Not to worry. It wont go extinct
(understatement)
Night to all. Get your rest for the big day,
day after tomorrow !
Becky
Ok I'm so happy you said that Becky, I'm the same way, plants can go through their ugly duckling phase with me and I love them nonetheless ;)
SPWD - No worries about the tomatoes. It was a last minute request.
ILJ99 and Stephanie - Haven't yet stocked up on coffee grounds as I've stayed indoors most of the week. Will try to get to 2 different Starbucks on Saturday. Have to remember which ones will give away the used coffee grounds. Rather surprising that some do and some don't. But since Dallas has a Starbucks on almost every corner, I should be able to score. Worst case would be that y'all would have to split a 5 gal. bucket of icky used coffee grounds.

If you can't find them, don't worry. It's no big deal! Don't go out of your way to get them.
I agree with Stephanie don't go to any trouble as it was a request not a requirement :) Relax and enjoy getting ready to come. ou are so welcome on me asking Dennis for the Agave for you. It is a variegated one and very pretty
OK I labeled the plants but they are small and taped on. That is the best I can do this time. If you are getting more than one of something I only labeled one of them.
Also, some of the plants have been in pots a long time and are not looking great. S. pentstemonoides and downy skullcap especially. They are all alive but need TLC and less sandy soil.
Good luck. Just called the closest Starbucks. They'll have 2 bags for me this afternoon. The place is walking distance altho I don't think I'll walk. :D (Maybe I can find some used chewing tobacco to add to the mix? :D :D )
Baja - bring your hard-to-find zinnias and marigolds. I'm sure you won't have to drag them back home.
Gotta go get some stickers to label things. Still want to know if I should bring 4 bags of oak leaves. Stephanie, how many do you want?
I'm bringing a bag of small to medium sized grower's (plastic) pots if anyone needs some. If not taken, they'll be going in the recycle bin next week.
Don't have much to trade this year plant wise.
Steve
I need some pots Steve.
What Steve said.
I thought I would post this here too.

Gypsi, the hollyhock has rust...do you still want it?
Woo wee!! Gypsi I'll bring you willow branches too :)
Still trying my best to fulfill all requests, really getting excited too ahhhhh!
Just bring me 1 bag of leaves.
Only 1? I've got 2 with your name on 'em. Would anyone else like oak leaves?
ILJ99 - I am bringing some yard art that I will put your name on. If not to your liking, no worries. I'm sure they'll find homes, even if it's mine. Just too hard to describe everything.
Okay, I'll take 2. Just don't need too many more.
Well, I don't want to force 'em on you. :D
No worries. :) I've got a truck to haul 'em in!
Ok. They were individually picked up by me. Each and every leaf. (You wanna buy a bridge?)
Sandy and Gypsi, I got the willow cuttings, how do you want them? Wrapped in damp paper towels in a grocery sack okay? Lmk and I'll pack them however you prefer :)
Also sandy, for your cacti, since they are all fresh transplants, I can either individually wrap all of them no dirt, in one box to save space (and your fingers) until you're ready to pot them. Or I can pot them for you. Up to you, but I need to know soon or they're going in a pot of soil :)
You can just place the branches in a grocery sack. If you want to spritz with a little water would be fine. The cactus would be great in a box. Easier to transport and save me a lot of pain :) Thank you so very much :)
ILJ99 and SPWD - The Southern Wood Ferns will NOT be potted as that might save their lives. They will be muddy and damp and I keep paper towels and plastic bags in my car. Will know tomorrow, but might have enough for someone else as well.
To everyone who wants clay pots and saucers as well as various and sundry plastic pots, they will mostly be on my table and y'all can take what you want. (I will have some specific ones, like hanging baskets, separate for the designated owners.)
I have some sprigs of chic. mint that have little roots on them now if anyone might want them.
And I now have a ton of coffee grounds stinking up my car. It will be a lovely drive to Arlington.
That is fine about the ferns. I take if stinking up your car you don't like coffee?
Coffee is one thing. But a ton of wet, nasty coffee grounds?
BTW, got an email from my guest. Susan said she is bringing some coffee grounds and some small (3 or 4") pots. We should be well-stocked.
Car is mostly packed except for small things & door prizes. I'd better put a post-it on my door so I don't forget to bring the hummus, etc. And now it's time to get out the veggies and chop! See y'all tomorrow.
BECKY AND ALL, Opuntias will "take"better if the fresh
pads are not planted directly in soil. They need to
calolus over before they will take root.
And on another topic but related, once I went to harvest
some pads and got the brilliant idea of using really thick
oven gloves.
All THAT sis was fill my fingers and the gloves with so
many glochids that I had to trash the gloves !!!
Me and my big ideas sheeeesh !
Ok everyone's requests are filled and I boxed up each persons trade for sanity's sake! LOL
Flowerchild, don't let me forget your guests box also. I actually had enough of each! Should I bring a pot to set the wood ferns in?
Sheila I managed to transplant a yellow asclepias tuberosa seedling for you without upsetting the root! :)
Sandy, I got the willow branches wrapped in damp paper towels and ziplocked. The cacti all got potted, sorry I misplaced my phone and couldn't follow up in time. All but the pencil cactus, it's wrapped in newspaper to callous before potting. The rest are rooted "live" plants.
I'm really short on space in the truck already, plus I have a guest riding w me with another door prize/dish.. I may not be able to bring much aside from pretrades. I did put together a few mason jars of bulk seeds and some baggies for interested peeps :) and some random packets of extras, lots of natives.
SPWD - Um, I don't know how I can not let you forget my guest's box. As for the ferns, I think damp paper towels and baggie or ziplock would be good. But you'll be getting lots of pots and you can decide at the RU. I just find that Southern Wood ferns are easier to plant in the ground than in a pot.
Don't worry. Be happy.
I have all pre-trades labeled and ready to go. Will bring the extras on my list that were not spoken for. They will be up for grabs, no trades needed. I'm excited and looking forward to seeing everyone! My hubby had a remote-controlled car practice race (his new obsession) rescheduled to today and I thought he might bow out, but he's still coming. He said he wouldn't miss it as he really enjoys the round-ups! So do I!
I have to cook eggs and pack up. ayayaya,.... worked all day yesterday. Making coffee, and buying a big thermos of some type.
