All, I've just learned that I need to leave on a two day business trip in 3 hours. I haven't packed yet and there's no way I can get the robin packed and shipped before I leave.
I will be back Wednesday evening and will ship the robin Thursday.
Sorry I have to break rulz # 8 :-(.
CLOSED: 2014 Spring Round Robin Seed Swap - On the Wing (page 2)
Shhhhh ,,, We'll see if we cannot convince everyone that your Shor, from Manhatten and Rty from California .
Only don't develop a split personality while we convince everyone your two people , (for the trade time rulz ,,
As to the 15 of me , ? well , I better pass on explaining ,,,, ^_^
Ha!! Senile remark just made me literally LOL!!
Shorty, the robin has been flying so fast I highly doubt anyone will care about your rulz violation! Did you even get a chance to play in the seed box?
I'm taking a quick lunch break.
juhur7 I love your sense of humor.
Stillplayswithdirt I was able to look at about half of the seeds. I'll finish the remainder when I return home tomorrow night.
I'm back and the robin is preparing for takeoff today. She's really enjoyed the nice weather. She also gained a few pounds. I hope she doesn't need a new airplane before she can fly.
Susie, finally answering your question from waaaaaaay up thread about Queen of the Prairie. I have not yet started any from seed. A friend gave me two divisions of his. One was killed by either dog poop overdose, or neighbor's lawn spray. The other is spreading VERY SLOWLY. First and second year had one flower stalk. It is just starting to send up leaves now, and looks like it has spread a bit horizontally.
As with most prairie flowers, winter sowing is probably best, but I would defer to someone who has actually grown it from seed.
So many robin shenanigans! This has been a fun project.
Iowhen;Yes ! this has been an interesting Robin , lol
Hey Shorty_CA ; Changed the Robin (rulz a little) and into a Spruce Goose ,, So Rev' Up!! Those Engines , and Make Her Fly Anyway !!!^_^
Lets hope it does not smash any Postal Employee's though !!!
Juhur7 I remember that the Spruce Goose never made even one commercial flight. I'd love to become a super hoarder but I'm sure I'd be banned from this group for permanently parking the robin here.
I thought about putting her on a C-17 Globemaster or Boeing Dreamlifter but the pilots of those planes don't have a great reputation for landing at the right airport!
Now I have to finish going through all of the remaining bags of seeds and get to the post office.
Shorty_ CA LOL !!! My first thought about C-17 Globemaster .. They would make a nice gift for someone in Pakistan or Iraq ,,lol
That is of course if the pilot does not Hijack it all to Africa ..
Of course if you Postmark them The South Pole .? Santa Clause Would probably end up delivering them back to Amanda in NC ... C-17's lol ...
Howard Hughes never had permission to fly the Experiment only to test the Engines , He almost lost his pilot license over that ... Grrrrrr Rules and regulations , are sometimes silly , not always though .
What ever happened to the "Spruce Goose" ?
I can remember going to see it in Long Beach and well there was always a pack of people right inside the door stopped in their tracks with their jaws dropped. It was a great experiment.
Domehomedee: Last I heard was the Long Beach Naval Museum you mentioned is where it was , it was under going some kind of restoration .. But I don't know either ..
My guess would be the Boeing archival museum or the Smithsonian west ..
The robin is off to the next destination. She weighed in at 7.60 lbs. For you aerospace buffs I'm sure the call sign for the plane she's on will end in "heavy".
Domehomedee The Spruce Goose was in Long Beach. Shorty after Disney purchased the property it was on in 1988 they sold it. There weren't enough visitors for Disney to make a huge profit. It's at the Evergreen Museum in McMinville, Oregon.
Aargh I'm so excited! 7 lbs. of seeds! I think I'm more worked up over this robin than I was to open Christmas presents!!
The robin landed here on Saturday. I'll try to get it off by Tuesday at the latest - yippee!
Sue G
Yay!! Dont rush, but hurry up!! LOL I keed, I keed :))
Yay Becky! You are next! At long last, the Robin will be in your hands! All those seeds, are you excited?
Haha yes it is the highlight of my MONTH, and I can't help but talk about it to people who really couldn't care less about a box of seeds!! What is wrong with these people! LOL
I was just saying on another thread, my light shelves are all but empty, that combined with 7 lbs of seed is dangerous!
Sounds like a great combination to me!! I agree, what is wrong with those people?!?
Nanny, I love your enabling!! So what all do you have germinating now? Any special goodies from the robin?
You mean you grow plants from . . . seed? What are you some kind of earthy type person. Or, I bet you have . . . a green thumb.
Whenever anyone tells me I have a green thumb I tell them no I learn about growing seeds by researching about it. . . they hide magical information like plant growing in books.
LOL Dee, exactly!!! 😄
lol dhd! Well I have 3 kinds of tomatoes, Lunaria, Passion Flower, White Liatris, Pumpkins,Squash and getting ready to start a bunch of other stuff. Some of it will be direct sown as soon as this rain stops so I can finish working the garden soil. We have heavy rain for the 2nd day in a row, so it may be a while til it dries out enough to finish :(
Seeds ,, hmmmm . What are those ? oh I know !!!^_^ That mountain in the corner weighing down the shelf ..
Something ate my tomato plants yesterday , time to start a couple more , thanks for the reminder ,
Until you get to a certain age (most of the time ) Seeds are something you peck out of apples , oranges , or that something that people eat ..
(is that an old people Joke ?) I keep inadvertently doing that
Ohh the rain can put a damper on things, but be happy you have it. It stinks to be on water restrictions, honestly if we didn't have a well, I wouldn't be allowed to water my gardens. I keep running into roadblocks with my 330 gallon rainbarrel, but that's a whole nother story..
Ooh lunaria, I've been wanting to try some of that!! Have you germinated them before? Hope Ma Nature gives you a break to get your plantings done :)
Ju, your old people jokes are well received here.. Keep them coming! LOL guess I'm old, I knew I felt it sometimes, but dang!
Ya well, lol thank you SWPD (Becky) The jokes are not as funny as when I was very young though , somehow they lost something along the way .
Rhubarb came up last night , Couple of variegated thistle seeds sprouted also . Borage came up in the Garden , difficult for me handle correctly , one of temperature and conditions needs ,
Better to let it grow the way it wants to .
Lots and lots of tiny plants here ,only getting started .
numbers of my failed perennials has me a little worried though .
First time, on the Lunaria. I will let you know how it does. SPGardens sent me the seed. He's got some up already 1/2 inch, mine are just starting to break thru.
I got called in to work again this week (30 miles away) so I still have the box. It should go out no later than tomorrow since this is my last day at work. I am so sorry to have kept it this long.

Sue, I suppose one more day won't kill m..
In other news, a Texas woman died this evening, cause unknown. Bystanders said she was babbling incoherently moments before her death, but could make out just a few words..
"Why Sue no send?"
If anyone has any information about this "Sue", we urge you to please contact your local authorities for a reward.
Lol, Becky! You have been very patiently waiting, I am sure. I was first stop, and it seems likes foever since the Robin was here. I am still working on planting seed from the Robin, and probably will be for a while.;)
Yes ma'am, I really am waiting patiently, hope no one thought me rude above. I get a little goofy sometimes :))
Sue dmailed me earlier and said the robin takes flight again today.. Woohoooo
Greets:
Looks like things are progressing as they should. Several of you have my contact info on FB and email address in case something comes up.
It's a very stressful time here for a variety of reasons. No need to go into it, just saying I am thinking of you all and hope I am not being a terrible hostess. HA!
Anywho. Hope the Robin has been good to each of you. I still owe Sue (CheerMom) a package.
Love,
A.
Amanda, I feel a variety of your pain. Tenants moved out. Been in the rental for 9 days now. I hurt so bad its not even funny. Knees are black and blue, hands are killing me from scrubbing and painting. Im exhausted. Only a few things left to do though.
Put in a new counter top and a new kitchen floor. My dad was helping and then ended up having an emergency appendectomy night before last. All is good though.
Ha ha Becky...you're such a good little Gollum!
LOL , the Good Humor Thread , I don't have much to say , although I rarely truly do , lol
I Only wanted to say Hi to you all here ..This is a very cheerful thread ,
Amanda , Hope your doing better or the things around you .
I am only hanging in by a thread , and am only here by the threads ,,lol he , he ,
Basil and Hyacinth vine from the robin are looking good so far .. I still have lots to get to ...
I checked the Post office website and they said the Robin was supposed to be delivered yesterday May 3rd. Another box I sent the same day has already been delivered.
Sue G
Hopefully just resting at an inspection station. Sue, perhaps you fed her too well and she's a little bunged up?
Maybe the zombie at StillPlaysWDirt's house scared the robin. Better dump the zombie before tomorrow so the robin feels comfortable landing. rofl...
