I'll let you know tomorrow. The temp is dropping here and tonight will be the freeze. I'm not a happy camper. :(
She's about to... Spring has sprung!
i'm afraid my peach tree will freeze, any suggestions anyone?
Kathy, do you usually get enough rain to keep the baskets watered or do you do a lot of hand-watering? Last year we had good rains and I didn't have to hand water the containers very much. But the year before, that's all I did all summer. Or so it felt like.
Peach trees:
http://homeguides.sfgate.com/protect-peach-trees-during-freeze-54398.html
I usually have to hand water them, but this week the rain is doing it. so much I hink they might drown!
Jordan one year I did cover part of the tree. It wasn't windy and abfew peaches are better than none.
No I am not happy the daffs were beautiful. Iris are growing like craazy so the weather needs to get its act together. The roses were starting to leaf out. Think later in the week we are suppose to hit 30's again.
I water my hanging baskets everyday. They are on the porch sobrain doesn't get them.
thanks for the link. I will cover my poor lttle tree. it would break my heart if it got damaged
some of my baskets are hanging on the porch, but a lot are in the front yard on shepard hooks, or hanging on the fence
Just don't cover it if it is windy cause it will cause.more damage than good. Usually you wont have frost if it is windy. If it doesn't get too cold I have read you can water the.leaves BEFORE the sun hits the.leaves and they will be ok. Something abt sun hitting frost causing burn might see if u can find an article. I have never done it.
Sounds beautiful u should post us some pics. I love hanging baskets. Have u seen the baskets with the holes.in tune side so the plants trail faster?
I remember in FL they run sprinklers to actually make a light coat of ice on citrus trees, protects them from frost.
will take pics when the rain moves out, if it ever moves out
i'm gonna try putting a tarp over it, or putting on Christmas lights, lie the article said. please pray for my peach tree
I haves read and know from experience don't use plastic. It will frost under the.plastic for some reason.
Do a search on Pamela Crawford she designed pots with holes.in the side but u can do the same thing with.moss or a drill with a hole bit in it. I would.love to have her pots.but cant afford them. I did buy one of her books she has really studied what plants work in pots the best and gives suggestions.
I have seen the sprinkler going also when freeze is coming, for fruit trees as well as strawberry fields.
OH MY! Our black lab dog is sitting here by my feet, and just farted, then looked around like who did that! And boy does it smell! Bad dog! ^_^

Thanks LindaKay I am on the kindle and don't have a clue how to past and copy. I have decided.to.make myself get efficient using this. First off using the keyboard on the screen. Hench too many periods cause I miss the insert button and hit the period. So I apologize.
I really would suggest her book course they are not cheap but she has done a lot of research.
I subscribe to Country Gardens and I've seen her work in that magazine. Very nice.
I have seen her on pbs with a gardening show can't think of the name right now. not p allen but a short guy from the south.
good news, my peach tree survived the frost! we put a tarp over it. now I can stop worrying.
Great, Kathy! That's good news.
my clematis survived on their own
everything looks good at my place so far, looks like the brug in ground I left out and had wrapped is doing fine.. the clematis I got in swap is also happy and going well.
Glad to hear plants and trees made it through!
hopefully that is the last frost of the season, since we usually don't get frost after the first week of april.
Happy for everyone. I am sure it is not our last frost but almost everything perked back up.
can someone find me some Helleborus "Double Queen' ? LOL
I have several Hellebores but not that one. It's pretty.

Ah, ha. I found every body here too, hehe. Am looking for more threads to watch. Usually just have 3 am watching. So hard to keep track of everything. Good saturday all.
Hi Ronna. :)
good morning. beautiful day here. tilling up the garden, planting another peach tree, and planting more flowers. did my grocery shopping early this morning.
Glad you found us!
We went to alot of garage sales today. They were a big ole bust. Disappointed too. Oh well less trash to carry home. Right?
I haven't been to any yard sales yet but saw several signs up at various houses today. It was a beautiful day ... but storms are coming around these parts. I do love a good yard/garage sale!
same here. Ronna, storms a brewing.. lots of garage sale signs, I went back to my new frieds place who has these huge gardens and another younger than me couple showed up to help, we dug up about 25 rougue ROS, Caltalpas, and Crepe myrtles, moved the two giant ones to the younger kids place, but we really got a lot of stuff done for her. I do have a 4 ft tall bare root catalpa tree now if anone wants it, and some ROS.
Does anyone have any men's ties they are it using? I have a friend on Facebook looking for them for a quilt.
ROS, rose of Sharon? What color?
