Best/Worse/What did I learn today?Chat with friends
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr .. back to cold temps, not quite AS cold, but, damp mixed with cold.
Guess Europe got the rains this winter.
Have been so excited about watching the Sochi Olympics from Russia starting in Feb., but, am now starting to be very nervous that 'something' is going to happen, re breaches in security and the athletes.
Seems to be so much NEGATIVE coverage right now ..
Nursing a 'booboo' right baby toe .. I 'zigged when I should have zagged' walking behind Lorna and her wheelchair .. after 4 years I thought we had gotten it down to an fine art, but, last evening she accidentally ran over my baby toe .. of course she feels awful, but, we both know it was an accident, but, I'll survive ...
Think we might be taking a day off from the gym ... be nice just to kick back here. Have a recpe I want to make for 'chickpeas' .. high in protein, which is what Lorna is looking for. Have had the chickpeas for a couple of days, and, they won't coat and bake themselves it seems ^_^
Take care all

Oh, that pinkie toe has got to be hurting! Glad your taking it easy today!
Morning all
Thanks lindakay's, mystery solved..will look forward to seeing the pretty house my birds will live in IF we ever get spring!
Back to seasonal temps, might even go out and shovel a bit later.
Mom was going to come visit tomorrow for a few days and Sunday I was thinking of taking her for a ride to Meaford but with the impending storm coming tomorrow unlikely she will visit.
Not a birdhouse Betty, a bird feeder.
Hi,
(((((((((Marilyn)))))))))) I was so very sorry to hear of Your loss. my prayers and thoughts to the family.
Ouch on the toes, hope they heal quickly.
LoL, Linda Kay it's 21 right now and I'm running around with my jacket open!!
OMG, So a couple of weeks ago, I was driving driving home from dropping Jake at the train. The day was bright and sunny, just as I turned into our area, a cluster of birds took flight from one tree to another and my eyes did a pop!! Blinked and tried to see again but they were hidden amongst branches. I could swear I saw a robin!! In January?? Well shook my head, decided I was daydreaming of Spring. A couple of days ago we were blabbing about all this weather, I mentioned my sighting and Steve was equally perplexed, stating how he had just seen three the day before!! Today, I was again driving home, caught sight the of cluster and yeppers!! They ARE robins!! Yikes just wondering where they are living and what are they eating? oohh and another indication Squirrel's coat isn't very thick, Petrie is molting, hmmm will have to see what the plants are saying....LOL probably begging for water!
Yep Betty, we are expecting more snow here, sigh I believe 5more inches. tomorrow is the Bahamama party...very early this year, so have to finish things up...My chore of the day is to find the punch bowls and blow up the pineapple! Have some new comers!! Remember last year, a childhood girlfriend came. Maria is joining us again and bringing another friend Peggy. We were all cheerleaders in grammar school...And my new friend Dianna from Staples is joining us. Still waiting to hear if my Brother is coming, not so sure with this weather and upcoming blizzard.
Susan, Best of luck to Both you and Bob! Sure hope the MRI is good results.
Oh yayy Betty, so glad you heard from Shirley!! Hope she can come on soon.
Waiving hi Dianne!! So did you end up taking the other furbbie?
Yikes, you sure have had a rough winter...Lets hope Spring is right around the corner. Bet your all missing the walks.
ok, well I best go hunt down the punch bowls and get another load going.
Susan, sending positive energy and prayers for you and Bob!
Good to see you, Lil Injun! I've seen robins, too. All fluffed up, but definitely robins!
LOL at the jacket open with your temps. Glad to hear you have robins. That is a sure sign spring is right around the corner.
Party at Judy's..if only we could attend the Bahamama party..looking forward to photo's Judy.hope weather doesn't hamper travel for your guests. With all the purging and cleaning youve done surely you didn't throw the punch bowl out..
Doubt I will see a robin before May if I'm lucky.
Decided to call Rita and ask if she would like to take a roadtrip, not far, lol
Go to Meaford, have a feeder for my swap buddy but like to send something else..
The Meaford factory outlet also has Tiffany lamp shades on sale, wouldn't mind one..also looking for cupboard of sorts , need it for fabrics..maybe a stop at the fabric shop as well..think we will be housebound again this weekend! Rita will call by 2:30 and if not snowing we are off.
Joyce, took you and the girls to Meaford factory, them to the candle factory..think you bought a few items.
Love seeing the robins. Some hardy ones stick around all winter.
You did indeed and we loved it all!
Storm brewing here. Snow and then oh joy freezing rain. Got supplies in for a few days plus wood into the carport for a week. Pups got an extra walk just in case we can't go far tomorrow.
Ouch on the toe M. I can so sympathize with you. I did the same thing a few weeks ago. Did you tape your pinkie to the next toe as you advised me to do?
Hope you got your trip into Meaford Betty. Say it isn't so that more snow is forecasted for mid week, please!!! Actually I think I heard that on BT news this morning.
Stay safe and warm everyone.
Dianne
It's been a busy day. Planted a few more citrus trees, tehn continued with planting the ti plants, mother-in-law tongue and many, many aloes. The little hillside which faces the property of neighbors Dana and Tom has been bvirtually bare as long as I've been here. I put a few aloes on the top a few years ago and they have survived even though they rarely get watered. Tis is hopeful for all the ones we're putting in as if we can get them started growing they won't need much care to survive long term and the will gradually fill in to cover the hillside which will cut down on erosion. As a secondary benefit, hummingbirds love the flowers so the more they bloom the more hummingbirds we will have visiting.
A local worker named Chuiy came by yesterday and asked to borrow $25 for car repairs. Knowing how hard it is to come up with cash I suggested that I would give him the money if he would bring me two truckloads of dead palm trees. He came back later for another $7 and today for another $10. He got some friends to help and we now have a big pile of dead palms to use as water retaining material on the new plants. Tony and I both think part of chiuy's reason for coming back today was to see if the dogs would get used to him so he could come back late some night and sneak in. He has a reputation as a thief. Anyway, the dogs were fine with him while Tony was with him but surrounded him growling when Tony left. I rescued him but i don't think he'll ever try to sneak in.
I'm worn out again.
hugs, katie
Morning all,
February at last, ground hog day tomorrow, am sure he'll decide we've at least 6 more weeks of winter weather..big sigh
Dianne, we were told a big front moving in today, so far nothing, likely from the weather network it is headed to your region..glad you stocked up on everything. Did go to Meaford but by the time we finished at the Meaford Factory we missed the fabric shop..lordy, thought for sure on a Friday night the stores would be open NOT..fabric shop closed at 5:30pm..oh well, perhaps another time I can make it my main stop.
Rita ended up with the most beautiful silver lamp, black white pillows as she will make a black/white quilt for her new bedroom (when she gets her place) and a lovely candle holder, modern/slumped glass.
I on the other hand didn't find a whole lot..got a bird feeder (too cute and unusual) thought the windchime swap will be soon, bought a really nice one, few valentines day treats (stuffed talking animals) for Suzanne's granddaughters and a small stained glass lamp shade , just couldn't resist Dianne, for $10.90 one can't go wrong..know I should have bought more. They had one done with a motorcycle on it, drats, didn't know who I could have given it to so left it there.
Then we stopped into Collingwood and did a few stores, found what I wanted for a kitchen light..it's a fluorescent light unit that's there now, didn't want to paint the ceiling so bought a boxed in 4' x 2' , imitation stained glass insert for the kitchen, paid more than I wanted to but there, I needed it and bought it..will put a call into Greg and see if he has an hour or so that he can install it before he leaves for Mexico, if not, will have to be when he returns.
Katie, that episode sure makes me nervous, would have rather had your dogs just a growling and showing teeth as to discourage your new found friend from coming around..I'd have said they go for the throat on command, really make him thing.
M how is the toe?
LindaKay you sewing today or is it nice enough outside to be out enjoying it.
Judy, how's the weather for the Bahamama Party tonight? find the punch bowl?
I'm rubbing off on Rita, around 5:30 I thought I could smell coffee brewing, yep, Rita made coffee and was downstairs working on a rag quilt..grabbed one and came down as well..did inventory of what I got done in January..some completed, some need quilting, so quilting this weekend I shall do..Riley decided to rest on her window perch and watch the crazy ladies sewing before daybreak lol
off to vacuum, wash floors, get dressed and ready to play downstairs
what are you all up to?
Don't know where you find your energy Betty. It has been nice here during the day. It was 65 yesterday. Not working in the gardens as I know we still have a good chance for more frost.
I got my swaps packed up yesterday, and will take them to the post office this morning.
I got this pattern in the mail yesterday, I might see what fabrics I have. Need to decide on a color scheme.
http://laundrybasketquilts.com/Shop/Images/dresdenstarwebL.jpg
Oh my LindaK, the rust and amber look so nice, and, the pattern is lovely ..
OMG! I thought you were joking re Ground Hog Day Betty, but, it IS tomorrow ..
WOW .. time will fly after that ..
Had thought after listening to the weather last night that you would be SOCKED in with snow.
I guess it's Dufferin County which would be closer to Lorna's Aunt in South Hampton?
At any rate, someone, somewhere is going to get bunches of snow, we'll be stuck with COLD .. -35 right now :-(
Katie, I sure do hope your dogs carry on like our 2 Terriers do when someone comes into the yard, both Lilly and Piper go bugnuts! Have had people go outside the fence and wait til we have settled them. They have never bitten anyone, but, then again, no one has ever been 'bad'.
Feel kinda uber nauseous, gonna throw on the dishwasher and go lay down for a weee bit .. dam chemo :-(
Toodles
~M~
How long do you have to have these treatments "M"?
Have been up since 4 am and can't seem to shake a chill I have. Parked myself by the woodstove and even that isn't helping. Saw a gorgeous sunrise...... I know red skies in the morning sailors take warning but it was incredible. No snow yet but it is coming. I am more concerned about the freezing rain forecasted for overnight.
Katie, I always trust my dogs judgement about people. They have never proven wrong even in 1 case where I was positive they had a person pegged wrong. Diesel and Duke won't let anyone in the door until I tell them it is Ok and if we are outside won't allow the person out of the vehicle until I give the word. I like it like that. The oil truck driver I met on the lane Thurs told me he was glad they were in the house when he came as they didn't give him a warm welcome. Once I give them the word the 2 are big lovey goofballs.
I hope everyone has their Santa Warren exchange now. If you haven't received yours as of today please DMail me.
Think I will follow M's lead and have a little lay down. How is the toe M? Maybe I will have some rice pudding first though. Nice comfort food.
Stay safe and warm everyone.
Dianne
I think Riley has the right idea. Bad arthritis for me this morning.
Don't worry about my "friend." The dogs had him circled and he'd grabbbed the lid of the garbage can to use as a shield. I think Mexicans are more intimidated than Americans about dogs and my four can be very scarey. People who don't know them always wait outside for me to open the fence and prefewr that I lock them up on the patio before coming in.
Dr. Oz told people they should do a "star jump" when they get out of bed to get their energy going. It was interesting to watch. For myself, I'm grateful if I can get out and stand up. Thought about jumping this morning and laughed and laughed. As I schuffled off to get coffee.
How is everyone today. "M" hope you are feeling better. Dianne, are you in deep snow again?
Has Home Depot called you Susan? Sure hope so. And that Bob is OK.
Sometimes the pain is so bad that I just want to go back to bed and cry. I'm so glad you are all here. And Tony and the furbabies are here. I think if they can stay cheerful I can do the same.
hugs, katie
Good Morning!
It's snowing, still. i guess we are to end up with 5-6 inches?
Well Jake started a job last night! Works for Zoups. Will work from 4-10.
In answer to your question, Betty, Since it's supposed to stop we should/might still have a great turn out.
LOL, were nuts here and people will travel. As far as we are concerned, it's actually the perfect weather for Bahamama!! So we shall see who braves the elements...Yep I did find the punch bowl, lol right where I put it last year! But now I have to find the other one, if I don't ,it's ok, well just compromise with something. Still have the last minute stuff to do, but need to make some rounds first...
Ok..I have to go clean car to take Jake to work.
hope you feel better M.
Ohhhh., got to dash...enjoy the day, and be careful if your braving the elements too.
LOL on Rita, looks like she was there all night! Riley has the right idea.
Took my playbook to bed with me, and I complain about my grandkids and their electronics.
I will likely be on methotrexate for several years :(
It's supposed to be protecting my bones from the psoriatic arthritis. Just makes me feel ishy the day after. My belly is so noisy!
Have a baby ice pack on my baby toe, which is taped to its next door neighbor. It feels not too bad.
Laying here listening to the washer and dryer and dishwasher do their thing. Happily Lorna is good with helping out.
Checked the weather online, yoikes! Quite the storm way east of us in Bettys area, Dianne as well.
Just bet on the Super Bowl... Chose the Seattle Sea Hawks.
A big 2bucks. Lol
TTFN
M
House all spic and span, even got t a couple item done on my February organization list I received this morning. Did top of the refrigerator, seeing I'm short it often gets forgotten so did that and my fork/knife drawer so now I an play.
Got a jacket to fix for mom, the healing quilt throw Jim got from his sister a Christmas needs a tad more quilting so I will do that, Lenny gave me lines jeans he asked me to repair, Sharon's stained glass piece that she stepped on at Christmas and felt so badly soooo if I get at it they all might be done by supper lol
LndaKay, where do I get my energy? Not so sure it's energy or the need to keep moving because of body pain. Rita said she was hearing quite a bit of groaning from me this mornimg, yep, time for painkiller!
'M' it sure is snowing out there, I talked to soon..
Thought I'd wait until 9am to call Greg re putting up new light fixture and living room plus, didn't want to wake him..he answered, said he would try and find time before he leaves for Mexico tomorrow night but that he was in South Hampton, he and four guys left for a snowmobile outing. Guess I should have called at 6am.to catch him..early riser like his mom.
Judy great to hear about Jake getting a job, hurrah! What time does your company come tonight? Glad the weather will not force them to stay away..what are you wearing to it?
Dianne, nap won't do you harm..glad you've got hydro and a warm fire going..that alne would make me nap.
Katie guess the days of hard work have gotten to you..enjoy the weather, sunshine will surely help you.
"M" maybe if you lay quiet for a bit and listen to the humming of the electrical appliances you'll fall off nto lala land, better than counting sheep
Mom just called, she is in Barrie, wanted to know what the weather was like, snowing just like Barrie, not sure if she will drive here tonight or early tomorrow mornimg
Best I go get her things done
Guess what? It's snowing!!!!!!! lol
Must be damper than I thought as I ache like crazy today too. Saw the GP yesterday and she just upped my pain meds. I hate taking them but think I will have to give in today.
Betty I sure can't blame you for snatching up a SG light. Are they made offshore? Motorcycle lamp sounds interesting. Doesn't Greg ride? How long is Noah with you? How is Kyle handling school?
Think I will go for a nap now. I was so chilled I didn't want to leave my seat by the woodstove.
Safe travels for your mom Betty if she does decide to set out.
Mary how did you make out with the storm last week? Hope the witch got herself stalled in traffic and was late for her own meeting. Tsk, tsk I need to bite my tongue.
Dianne
Dianne, hoping mom doesn't take the road Neil morning, all who ride with her say she is not as watchful as she once was but then neither am I. Lol
Know I'm gong to kick myself for not buying the motorcycle shade, Melanie's mom and dad live in Meaford so next time she or Kle takes a ride that way I'll have them see if there are more different ones. Nfound a lamp base, not sure where I bought it, looks kind of antique, might put a new electrical fixture and put the shade I bought yesterday on it..too bad it's got pink in it.
As for Noah, I just have to pick him up at 5:30pm once he finishes work, take him for supper then home..seeng as the dogs are hard for me and they need their own run he will spend the night at his house, I'll get up early and go make sure he is up for school n the a.,. We'll see
Kyle spends time at his girlfriends house in penetang, often doing something so at 18 he will do his own thing.
What meds have they given you Dianne? Same here, try not take take anything but I did need something today.
Meant to add just how lovely the quilt is LndaKay that you gave the link to
Mind is working on how to incorporate the template I bought from Missouri quilt..thing is I've fabric left from the quilt I made for a wedding gift, almost same colors
Your snow passed to the north of us this time. Temps actually made it into the High Thirties today. Tomorrow too so I get to go out for a ride. No shopping planned - did that the last time and I made a deal with myself that I wouldn't shop again until it was really necessary. My fabric stash has no bounds right now.... But I'm working on it LOLOL
I'd like to get into your stash Barb, I really can't say I have one other than Christmas fabric.
Glad the sow is missing you, likely Debbie and Dianne are getting it..enjoy an outing tomorrow!
Still snowing
I have the babbling brook playing on iPad, head is pounding big time
Will get supper over with then head to bed even if it's not to sleep but rest. Rita is headed downstairsm she only has 2 rows more to do and her rag quilt is done. She leaves tomorrow for a week or so and wants it done.
I tried Betty's approach of moving too fast for the pain to catch up with me. Mixed results. Caught up with washing the dishes and got a soaker hose set up in the new garden. Tony got a long hose installed to water the aloes on the little hill.
Chuiy brought another load of palm trees and asked for another $30 and said he'll bring another load on Monday. I told Tony to try to act as if I'm annoyed about the request for more money but the truth is we're both delighted. Chuiy has a big truck and we now have a huge pile of dead palm trees which are a great help here in the desert. They make great mulch and hold water like a sponge which helps plants to get established. This may work out well for all of us.
Neighbors Dana and Tom have invited me to their Super Bowl party tomorrow. Dana said there will be two small children there. I'll probably play with them whle the grownups watch football.
I also took another big step forward in getting the kitchen organized.
I've gone past being depressed about the pain and am now just angry about it.
hugs, katie
Hello To All;
Dianne - Thanks love... things they are "a-changing" at the office.... I don't really care like I used to... maybe it's noticeable.... Witchy gave me a huge new account hmmm... wonder why?
I did contact another GM at another broadcast company.... maybe interview with him.
Katie... hope your new contact works out.
I'm just sick. May have to fire DS. not good. I'm too ashamed to tell what he did. problem is we need him.... to fill in for another person next Tuesday. such a small company it's impossible to have a lot of folks to fill in for one another.
At any rate he did not register for school so now RENT will be due every month.
Betty I equate to Noah....know how you feel about all that.
Hope DIanne and Debbie do not have the horrible weather
LK - did you lose stuff in this freeze?
HUGS
Mary
Bob had his last test today...... standard abdominal scan.
haven't heard from Home Depot yet.
Katie - don't go moving too fast...... and Betty - don't go encouraging her, or yourself!!
Mary - what an awful position to be put in - to have to fire your DS....... don't envy you!
Dianne - hope you're warmer now.. :-)
I know everyone else posted, but such a busy group you are, that I miss stuff..... sorry, ladies!
you're in my thoughts, always :-)
Morning all,
Mary so sorry to hear your DS is not working out, your heart must be breaking to have to let him go ut if it's in any way hampering the success of your business it's a must, not easy but a you can't let things slide as other employees will resent what is going on as it could jeaperdise their job security if business suffers from it..hugs. How is Lance enjoying it?
Better note is that witchypoo is realizing she isn't intimidating you, you likely are giving back the attitude she is giving you..good for you. Hoping the interview goes well with the other adv firm!
Katie your property must be some size to have the need for all the palm tree leaves..this new found friend still put me on guard, know you can look after yourself butttt
Have fun at the football party tonight..not being a fan of football I'd be joining the little ones as well.
Judy, will you be suffering today after the Bahamama gathering? Lol
Bet it was a success!
Just finishing my coffee and out to clean off the cars so Andrew can do a proper plow when he comes n a bit.
Likely a busy day, mom comes this morning, wants shams made for the quilt I gave her for Christmas, drats didn't even check to see if I've enough fabric.
Other than that not much interesting happening!
Morning everyone.
Mary after I lost the tattoo shop I opened for my boys I tell everyone to NEVER work with family. Sorry to hear about your son.
I think it is too early to tell if I lost anything in the garden. Hopefully I will see new growth on something soon.

I think that picture of Rita looks like she's about to fall asleep right there on the sewing machine! LOL.
I'm all caught up in reading and waving Hi to everyone.
We had a high of 57 yesterday, can you believe it? Anyway, big change today. Only supposed to reach 20. It's a wonder we're not all sick as dogs with this yo yo stuff!
Yesterday 5 of us girls ( including Kathy and Sherry, Betty) went to Centerville, Indiana to a candle factory. (Warm Glow). It reminded us of Meaford, only much bigger! Then onto a gardening shop and finally an antique mall. Had a wonderful time and finished it off with dinner at Texas Roadhouse. Oh gosh, I love to eat there!
Drats Joyce, how I would have loved to do the day with you!! What did you buy??
One weekend I'll come visit..NOT just a quick coffee drop in
57 wow
Snowing again, poor Andrew, he sure is fed up with plowing..oh well he did have a few good years not having to do so, my turn to take advantage. He was thankful for the extra $100 for having used the bobcat to clean the yard of sow.
Rita just left for the city, she will not be back till a week Monday. Mom was to come but roads worry her, can't blame her. She is at her rother in south Barrie. Did ask if I could make the pillow shams and she would pick them up tomorrow though
Morning,
No new snow here. Had rain last night which froze driveway solid.
Jeanna, Carrie & Andy coming for DH's super bowl party. He does his big
food spread. I just watch the commercials.
Miss you all. I am fine.
Debbie
Debbie, missing you as well, need you to pop in more often, miss my Daisy fix. Lol
Sounds as though most of your homes will be just a jumping, all screaming for team of your choice, some the same team and others the opposite team.
It's been quiet today, managed to get mom's pillow shams done to match her quilt..know she wanted more white in it but I made it to match the quilt. ,Lordy took me all day, can't believe it.tomorrow she will meet me in Barrie so I can give her the shams, her jacket I fixed the sleeve on and added more quilting to the prayer shawl given to Jim and seeing as my brother Berie will visit with her next weekend I'll send his Christmas gift as well.
All that remains is Lenny's jeans and Sharon's stained glass piece to repair and my to do list is done. Now if I could find more energy think I'd go try and get them done but not.
Glad I made double what we needed for supper last night leaving me with supper tonight.
Hope there is a good movie on while you watch your game
Enjoy!
hubs will watch the game. I will cut some fabric. Maybe sew some too, not sure. I do have a binding to do the hand stitchin on. sew I could be social, and keep him company??? we will see.
finally feels like Florida today !! got warm Hooray !!
hugs to Y'All ♥♥♥♥♥
Thunder, Darlene just called, her company flew home this morning and now sunshine!
What are you working on? I think you should work on the binding and sit with hubby..watch you don't prick your finger thought when he shouts hurrah.
Drats, fighting a terrible headache again, likely the weather causing it.
I made a quilted shawl for a woman at work, she is going through Chemo, and she gets really cold. she can wrap it around her shoulders and cover her arms too. and can lay it across the bed when not using it. it is made similar to a bed runner. I did it in reds, a few strips of pink, and a few white strips too. not sure is I have a picture of it??? will have to do that before I give it to her hubs.
gonna mess around with the computer a little bit, then go watch game and stitch binding.
