Woke at 6:30 and got up to get away from the bad dream I was having and to be ready to work when Tony gets here at 7. I feel really good; very little pain from two half-days of physical work so I'm happy. A little soreness but not enough to prevent more work..

It's chillly; probably in the 30's. Once the sun comes up it warms up and layers of clothes come off until I'm in a sweaty t-shirt. I enjoy the pictures of the snow but had enough of the real thing when I lived in Michigan.

glad you aren't hurting too badly from all your work, maybe that's what all our old bones need, a good workout.

Garden Blanket..hmmm not so sure it's making me feel better but I'll smile as I think of all my pretty plants/shrubs underneath..as long as he hasn't destroyed what was there

Karen, Amelia must be loving being with you, can see you are enjoying her stay..how's it going, everyone helping out?

Susan, any updates on Bob and your mom?

LindaKay, I sent Shirley this link, hoping she can come post soon..

thinking of Judy and Debbie, sure hope they get over this slump

They are crazy!!!!!! I get chills just looking at that picture!!! Yes, I'm a cold weather wimp!!!!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Me too Barb, He's a hot body though and is always warm. Wait until summer no air here he will really be uncomfortable.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

He can get a fan!!!!! I'll take the heater _ LOL

Lyndonville, NY

Checking in to say hello. No new snow, just the bitter cold and winds.

Working on projects in the house to keep sanity in check, cleaning woodwork and such.

Miss you all....sending hug

Debbie

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Hi Deb-it's good to see you. Slow down on the cleaning - we won't see Spring until August at the least....LOLOLOL

N.C. Mts., NC(Zone 6b)

I wish I could get in a cleaning mood. I did spent about 3 hours cleaning my oven. I had to do that. I had made peanut butter fudge and to keep it in a safe place from my neighbors dog Baily. I put the fudge in foil and a Tupperware container with lid 13 x 8 and put it in the oven. Wellll
forgetting it was in oven. that evening I turned oven to 400 to bake a pizza.

You never want melted plastic in the oven. It was awful. I didn't try to clean one of the racks just thru it out. The bottom of the oven was the worst part.
I finally put the too big pizza in the confection oven. I made it go in. LOL had to clean that oven too.
My neighbor is home from the hospital. I'm so happy for her and me. Baily the Dog is home.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh my, was so nice of you to mind your neighbors dog, but what a trial for you

mulege, Mexico

The water line from town is broken so none of the hoses work. We went into town and they are working on it. Meanwhile, laundry and watering plants will have to wait. We do have a tank so I can do dishes but I don't think I will.

We planted lots of aloe this morning. It already looks much better.

I was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Went to college in Kalamazoo. Lived in Lansing for several years. Got my Masters at MSU. Don't miss it.

i'm battling mosquitoes. Poor me.

hugs, katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

mosquitos..yep poor you, wish it was me being bit, remind me of that when they are out this year Katie..how long will it take before water situation is fixed, did they give an approx time/day?
Ahhh you are a local gal to us then right Karen/"M"

oh Liz, laughing not at you but with you, here you are caring for Baily and look at the mischief he's created..did melt plastic before, in the oven, forgot..yep takes ions before the smell leaves.Baily will be glad to be back with his mom.

Holy smoly Debbie, you've been on a cleaning sprea for ions, musn't be a corner in the house not done..any updates on the new mom to be?

bored this afternoon so took a bag of scrap fabric I through in a corner, some part blocks from misc. projects..trying to make blocks with them, lord knows what it will look like but likely when finished someone will lol

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

LMAO Karen - even my "hot to the touch" hubby thought your DGS was nuts! Altho we see people dressed in the middle of a cold snowy day Just Like That here....
Katie - glad you got a "bit of a workout" and that you didn't overdo!
Betty - my mom has been moved, yet again, to a lesser-care hospital bed - still sitting up to eat her dinner, but they're giving her pureed food again..... takes too long to feed her regular stuff, we're thinking...

liz - sounds like what I did, Christmas Eve - lol We had the Christmas turkey in the sink, thawing, and to do dishes, I moved it to the oven, on a plastic tray. Then it's time to pre-heat to bake cookies, right? About 5 min into pre-heat, I suddenly realized....... TURKEY!! Only the corner of the plastic tray, and a bit of the plastic mesh & bag the turkey was in, melted. We got it out, threw away the tray, and put the turkey in the chest freezer until it cooled. It was fine lol

Red Letter Day today!!! Bob went to have his CT scan (will get results in about a week), and when we got home - and email from my daughter!! Bob's ex has given up, and there's no court date tomorrow - she signed off on the Child Support!! So, she isn't getting $$ from us, for the "kids" that are 25 & married (since 2010), and 22 & working full time! Neither of them live with his ex anymore, either!
AND, got another email from a friend (Eva), whose sister (Mary) is a Supervisor at The Home Depot. Eva'd asked me to post both our resumes on their site. Mary told Eva that she'd told HR to watch for our resumes, that they're posted! Here's hoping.........!
Please keep us in your prayers!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Katie and Karen, dare I say, Karen's DGS is dressed EXAcTLY like some of the people in Thunder Bay today, doubtless it'll be on the news tonight ..
Guess we're all a flutter as it's 12F !!!!!!!!!
Actually stood outside the gym today and spoke with a friend while the SUN beat down on us, we were laughing because each of us had our jackets OPEN !!
SO, Karen, I can see where your DGS is coming from ^_^

Katie, you're going to have to get a camera so we can see all the aloe planted, sound so nice, have yet to look up M in L tongue ...

The Southern States have sure taken a whalllop to the rump !! Feel bad for the folks unaccustomed to snow and ice and COLD.

Liz, I once melted a brown tupperware bowl in the microwave making peanut brittle !!!
VUT TA MESS!!! My Mom was staying out here for the weekend, and she just about fainted .. SCREAMED that something was 'happening' in the 'cooker oven' .. by the time I got into the kitchen it was a simmering blob of brown plastic, corn syrup and peanuts !! Took a bit to clean it up that's fer sure, feel bad for ya. Glad your 'doggysitting' is done.
Hope your neighbour is doing well.

Guess I should mozey .. found out the funeral is Monday for Jason, not too sure if we'll attend as Gord has an eye appt that was 6 months in the scheduling. .. time will tell ..

Hope everyone is fit and well and, MOST of all, HAPPY ^_^

Toodles

Here's hoping things are looking up for you Susan. Wishing the best for you and Bob both.

TWO thumbs up re Home Depot Susan, and, HURRAH re the exs decision to drop the payments !!
A banner day for you
YAHOO

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh boy, nothing worse than the smell of meted plastic. I agree, it is hard to get rid of that smell.

Susan, glad to hear the good news. Let us know when you start working.

Victoria Harbour, ON

what fantastic news Susan, now if Home Depot pans out for one of you AND good news on Bob's health issues it will be worth celebrating..

it's that time, stopping to look at a cupboard and need gas..ohhh this morning I couldnt find my wallet, thought to myself 'self you'll be walking home' as I should have stopped this a.m. and filled up..found it this aft. tucked in one of the pockets of the tote I made..lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad you found your wallet!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Me too!

mulege, Mexico

Susan, that's a lot of good news. Sure hope the Home Depot has a couple of jobs for you and that Bob is all better to take one.

Betty, I think you are right - that my old bones just needed a good workout. This was my third day of a good half-day's work - followed by afternoon naps. I think a lot of the improvement is due to working with Tony again. It is realy a pleasure. Neighbor Tom came out while we were working and said it looks good.

I think having two trailerloads of plants is similar to having a full tank of gas. A feeling of security and abundance.

I arranged to sell my extra wringer washer to the son of a friend of mine.

hugs, katie

Water is back on. They usually get is fixed rapidly unless a hurricane has broekn the line.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

lol Betty "self........." You talk to yourself that way? lmao
hooray for "found wallets"!!!

We didn't go out for dinner tonight - snowing a fair bit, and Bob didn't feel like driving in the white out...

N.C. Mts., NC(Zone 6b)

Glad you got your water back on Katie.
About the smell of the Tupper ware, I didn't smell anything. The smoke alarm went off.
Think I have it, tupperware was too old to smell, at least 50 yrs old. but then my nose is a lot older than that. I really didn't smell anything. Whats wrong with me or my nose.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

-14 then add in wind chill factor brrrr but they are calling for a week of seasonal temps coming up so hurrah spring is likely around the corner..groundhog day on Sunday so we will see what he has to say.

Katie Greg and Melanie are off to Mexico next week, Noah will stay with me, here is hoping your weather improves for them..Noah will stay with me..going to feel like a hotel..Rita leaving for the city for a week, mom possibly coming for the weekend and then Noah..wonder what I will do when I'm finally alone. Lol

Katie, watch, your wringer washer ripens lke a charm, no sooner will you get ripped of the other this one will go on the blitz..know I asked several times but don't remember you replying, did the Santa beard and wig get there?

Barb, was at the post office last night, nothing from you

Liz, Rita and I were just talking about Tupperware, you don't hear much of it anymore do you..guess all these $$ store containers have done them in...could be the chemicals in a lot of plastics that smell more than others.

Susan, no not really 'talk to myself' that way but a do say it to make a mental note..often I forget what the mental note is lol

Have to go in search of something for Suzanne today, her irthday is tomorrow..seeing as we are going to buffalo on the 15th. Maybe I will just give us dollars and she can get herself something.

Squared off the 12 - 12" blocks for a Christmas throw this morning while I had coffee..Lordy I should have bough more white tone on tone christmas yardage, you sure go through it.

January was productive in the sewing department, will have to take a photo of what I accomplished..get to tick off a lot of names on my Christmas list.

Well, best I have another coffee

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

+10F here .. temps expected to go down a bit during the day, with a 'chance' of snow.
All I can say is 'YES'! No more -40 !

When my brown Tupperware container melted in the mic, there was virtually NO odour .. my Mom just happened to peek inside the window of the mic and saw the bowl caving in on itself.
I eventually bought 2 more, I find Tupperware more sturdy than the
Dollar Store stuff, altho, I sure have a cupboard full of that stuff, drive myself crazy DAILY trying to find the lid that matches the container.
There are Tupperware dealers in the phonebook here, and, there are always tables set up at the country fairs .. it's suprising how well they do .. some of my Tupperware is over 30 years old!

Off to the gym and some grocery shopping ...

Have a most splendiferous day everyone

~M~

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Marilynne, I'm with you on the old Tupperware. I know some of mine is close to if not at 50 years, my canisters in particular. I haunt yard sales for the 2 quart Mix N Store. I've gone through several and fear I now have my last one. Just don't think I can make pancakes without it. Or as the kids have always said..Paneycakes.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Betty, I thought you bought yards of the white Christmas fabric! You must be sewing up a storm!
Be careful if you have to drive in the nasty weather.
It is 32 here this morning, supposed to reach 60 today!

Valentine swap is open for one more day, come and check it our.

Tupperware is guaranteed for life, if it fails return it,

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I just went on Ebay and bought more sippy cup lids. They disappear.

mulege, Mexico

Good morning, everyone,

I've been out transplanting citrus trees and I'm a bit sweaty and my hands are sore.

betty, the Santa things went to Chula Vista and I haven't been up there since the accident when I totaled the ambulance. We are checking now to see what kind of papers I need to take the new van to get it registered in Az..

I think my days of relatively heavy labor are catching up with me. I'll do another tree or two and then take it easy.

hugs, katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay..Rita bought 11yds - all used
I bought 15 yards, used about 1 1/2 yards this morning for the scrap it together quilt..amazing just how much white ones uses..it's ok because when I run out I'll just buy white on white.

Just telling Suzanne that with what I made so far over 1/2 my other than family are done..having fun though especially with the piece I'm doing today, used up even the corners I cut off the tree skirts, put them into a block and voila a pieced block

going over to Fabricland, used up all the batting I had as well, if I want to quilt the 4 pieces I have sitting there before going to Buffalo for a roll I'll need some, that and thread then on to Popeye's for chicken dinner, both Suzanne and I are hankering for it.

Katie, do they not return mail when you've been so long in retrieving it?? Your body is talking to you, time to take a break.

Used to have tons of tupperware, not sure where it went but I do know I've not one piece

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

At last our ice is starting to thaw...amazed at how much there was on the roof. Beautiful warmer weather today with a bright sun making the droplets sparkle like diamonds. Glad it is all going away.

I-10 from the exit we get off to come home has been closed for about 200 miles since Tuesday evening. They are hoping to open some of the stretch later this afternoon.

Talk about extremes...from low 20 on Wednesday to 80 by Sunday. Thats Florida for you!

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, you got a big box delivered here from Karen???

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad weather is improving Marion..did Kim have any days off school because of it.

Wonder how Mary and Crissy made out?

Debbie, only box I can think of is a birdhouse swap box..maybe Karen had my name

Fess up Karen. Lol

When you get a chance Debbie can you open it up for me?

Barb, still no birdhouse block

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Had an email from my cousin 'over the pond' in England, he has DAFFODILS !!! In BLOOM.
He's in heaven, but, is guarded about being TOO joyous.
Hope he'll take a pic ..

Not much happening here, dogs finally got their coveted WALK today, haven't been walking them in the cold, DH got his exercise too ^_^

Betty, I see you have snow heading your way .. Sault Ste Marie is getting it now, are you Karen ?

Off to watch Corrie

~M~

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty if I did, I sure don't remember. I was in the birdhouse block swap but not the birdhouses.

Yes Marilynne, we are really getting it again today. Thermometer says it's a tad warmer but we have a bitter wind so don't feel any warmer to me. Thought it would be a good day to go out but it was rough getting around.

Hubby's cousin in Germany writes that they haven't had snow except for a bit in the alps. I sent a photo of ours just so she could see it.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Now I'm curious, will check birdhouse swap, maybe there is another Karen?? Hmmm

"M" Rita was just talking to her brother, he was saying a northern front is making its way to Texas then from Texas norh east to me..sys it will arrive Wednesday bringing more snow than we want to see and yes snow coming saturday
