Sweet Interruptions 276: Ringing in the New Year

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

They work good but I have heard of dogs especially big ones (like my neighbors) who will get excited enough to charge right across the line. They know the shock is very quick and are willing to get hit in order to escape(like my neighbors dog).

started reading my book
Dean koontz Innocence
so far pretty good

Karen, your neighbors must keep their fence on a low level shock.I keep mine in the middle.Hooch is close to 60lbs and they are very smart dogs.He knows not to cross his fence. He is a very strong dog and their are horses all down the road i live on.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Wow never tried a shock collar on gracie. She is so lazy. Really does not bark to much. We just have a rope for her to go out on. Other than that she sits on my husbands lap!!!! She ks a spoiled girlfriend. Hope sammy is okay. Kinda scary to have a dog like that in the nouse.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

We are the champions, my friends!!!! SEC has been dethroned finally.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

GO NOLES!!!!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Morning my sweet sistahs! Congrats Marion

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Morning, LK.

We're at a chilly -5 right now. Wish I was in Texas!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh, that is cold, it is 28 here this morning, frost on everything!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

This has been some Winter all ready. Will your brigs survive these low temps?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh I am so tired but a very happy tired!! Watched to the end of the game.

It is 19 on my back deck. I have ice all over the place where rain drops hadn't dried up. I think it will be a "stay indoors day today". I have keeping an eye (for all the good it is doing each of you) on the weather and thinking about all of those going through the heavy snow and minus temps.

Where is Jaye?

not work for Tim again....... uuuuhhhhhg !
get me out of here !!!!!
Congrats on the win Marion...:)
still !@$#$@#$ cold out , still -30"ish
cookie you think my butterfly bush will survive ?
or my roses ? I may be replacing some plants this spring. Cookie and i will have fun at the nurserys :)

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Sue, I think there will be several of us who might be replacing some plants come spring. I have mulched my really well but I have definitely pushed the zone on several things.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

even my camellia doesn't look like it survived. w that is sad

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

am beating myyvacum cleaner cuz it won't suck, and it's to cold to go buy another one. I hurt me toeicking it
anyone want a suckless vacuum? I bought inlmost brand new it is

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

ROFLOL, thanks but no thanks Kathy. I have one of those myself. Then maybe if I spent the time to get the threads from around the brush, mine might work better. Have you tried putting the tubing so you can blow it out? Sometimes that will work but then, maybe not.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

it's not plugged up, but won't suck. you sure you don't want it. it's a pefectygood vacuum if you overlook that one little flaw

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Truly I think I will pass this time. Someone else might like to have one and I certainly wouldn't want to be greedy.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Here is the top and a close up of the fat cat quilt I am working on. I still need to make the faces and put it together.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

That is so cute LK! I am thinking about working on a cat quilt this year.....my trouble is Kim and my sister will fight who gets it so.............

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

So... Make two!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I was afraid you were going to come back with that! :-)

We shall see how it goes.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Love it Linda. Great job and I really like all the different colors. I thought I might make a wall hanging of just one cat for Norm.....

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

That is just too adorable Linda. Perfect for a cat lover.

Marion I agree, you need to make two, can't play favorites after all.

Well getting crazy here in TN. DGS, wife and baby are facing eviction due to loss of income. Only help we can give right now is to take them home with us, which we are willing to do. Renting a small truck is more than we planned on spending right now. Plus his mom is pissed because they are moving, however, is not willing to render any assistance even though she has the room. I know I'm the one she's blaming but oh well. We're trying to schedule heading home by the week-end.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh Karen, good luck with that. ((((Karen))))

LK, it's adorable! Let's see, I see Riley, Smokey, Neeky, Bella, Moxie and Fifi! ;o)

I have a worthless vacuum, too, Sissy. Wanna trade!?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Geez Karen. Sometimes you can't win for anything!!!! The kids will remember who helped them and the mother will learn to miss them!!! Then she will wish she had been more of a help to them when they really needed it.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good afternoon sistahs.
I'm dead tired. Ran a lot of errands yesterday and with all the excitement last night, I was hoping to sleep in but no can do.
Cats need to be fed, and groggy me, walked out of the house with no coat. Just in my sleeveless jammies Thank God the sun shines 'warm' while the temps are registering 19!

Oh Cookie, I'd be frozen if I'm getting your 0 point 6. Have to emphasize that point!

Read, Sue, read. Bake, sew, look through seed and plant catalogues if you're bored. Watch the ID channel, teaches you how NOT to get caught with murder, in case you have that in mind! Lol!!

That's what Kel said too LK. Must be practice runs. He said all ammunitions had to be tested first if not there'd be duds all over Germany!
Your Fatz Katz are so pretty!! Now I want to do one for Siti. But I won't start now.. got to do Brad's memory quilt first.

That underground electric fence works for some dogs. My ex' nephew's Doberman won't stay in its' perimeters when it sees a stray dog across his house. He'd hear a 'yelp' and when master heard loud barks he knew that that dog was already charging towards the stray.
It wasn't cheap 15 years ago.. around 400, but I'm sure as Cody said, since WM carries it, it should be cheaper.

Hooch gets a steak now and then, huh Cody?

If that keeps Gidget in check for her behaviour, Sis.. that should be a big help to Sammy's safety.
Wonder of technology
I don't want a vacuumless cleaner Sis. Send me a real cleaning help!

Ronna, my little Chi can outbark a big dog!! But we won't stop her as she's my 'alarm'. We used to have Hambone who's my outside alarm.
But Hambone has moved to Kel's mother's fenced in yard, and he's her security dog since FIL died. Hambone doesn't bark much, but his growl is menacing enough.

Football:
Congratulations Marion and her Noles!! Winston didn't give up! And Kel couldn't stop his excitement when your team answered that last Auburn touchdown.
It was a VERY good game.
Eventually the streak had to end, I'm glad it is Noles that end it and NOT Urban Meyer!!

I'm looking forward to the implementation of the Playoff system. Teams that only played in cupcake schedules have to really prove themselves, like Notre Dame.
I'm beginning to get disgusted with my Tigers' Marion. We will be losing more, and they're not seniors, to the NFL draft.
The emphasis on getting a degree before drafting isn't Miles' top priority. I believe that's how he recruits, telling these kids he'd get them ready for NFL and they can leave whenever...
You don't hear me diss Miles, but it upset me so much to find out 2014 will be ANOTHER building year for us.

Now Sis, Mizzou will be a great threat in the SEC. It doesn't matter if Manziel return.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh Karen, I wrote a mini novel and there you are lamenting on your grand's misfortune. But then, we can look at a glass half full right? You're there for that reason, to 'rescue' them.
I so agree with Barb, your wonderful act of LOVE won't be forgotten by the kids nor any that know you. PErhaps that's one reason your house hasn't sold yet.
All according to His plans.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

JOHNNY WHO?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

You read it right, Sis. Johnny Football Manziel!! You may dislike him but he's pure entertainment when he's on the field!

Carole, you need to replace all this fb talk with basketball. All I know about College Basketball is that LSU isn't doing so good!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Karen, I so agree with all the others and would do the same in your situation. Like Jaye, I think there is a reason for all that is happening. Just enjoy having them with you. Stay warm and safe on the drive home.

Needless to say Kim and I were beyond excitement last night. One of Kim's friends who works on the same floor with her went to the game. She is an Auburn fan big time.....nope didn't go there just likes Auburn. Can only imagine how she will feel returning to work with all the garnet and gold working around her. I am sure they will all be nice to her but I am also sure their smiles won't shrink any.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Thought I would share a picture of Kim's baking assistant. Guess what she did for the cake?

Thumbnail by abbisgranma
TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

She put that cherry!!! That's the most important job and I'm sure Kim has promoted her to be her cake taster!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Yes she did inspite of Kim insisting it shouldn't be there. Nope...no tasting of the cake, now the frosting I can't say....they both had green tongues when I took them home last night. :-)

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Lol!!!!! Got to match Auntie's 'attire'!! That is just tooooo cute!! Marion, you musn't let Kim have all the fun!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh I didn't. Kim posted a picture of us on FB...me teaching her how to make biscuits from scratch. She really didn't do bad until she got her pan full and decided they should be "dusted' with flour. "They do it on the cooking shows Grandma". I think not!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh my.. we must have watched the wrong cooking shows! Lol!!

By the way Marion, did you see Winston's head, bowed deep in prayer after the Auburn TD? His postgame speech:
"“We champions,” Winston said. “We can share that. We are champions together. And through everything that we went through. Through all the haters. Through every single thing, we came our victorious. God did this. I’m so blessed. He’s so blessed. All the stuff that he handled with Ethan (Fisher, the coach’s son) and he come out here and coach us? That touched me. And it’s nobody but God. It’s nobody.”
I'm thinking.. he's not Tim Tebow... and that's a good thing.
