Sliding on in to wish all The Sistahs a very Happy and Healthy New Year!!

Sistah, So much has happened in 2013. And I have been such a bad Sistah..
I let too many distractions happen that i have not come to chatter with you. I apologize to you for that.
Just a few things to let you know about, although you may already know from Julia's facebook.
the week before Thanksgiving we lost Skittles. She had a a fatal run into the kitchen window, was very devastating to all of us. My heart still aches missing her. Then on Thanksgiving Day evening, Julia and David gave me an early Christmas present. Another baby, only 7months old. We call him Petrie!! It's a cute little Sun Conure...doesn't know how to fly just yet, and so far not to interested in "speaking" lol. Well it's finally getting used to it's cage and the toys. ROFLOL, the kids took it shopping and to get their photo taken! Yep, finally got my picture of the Kids, "All" of them! Next i'm working on getting her to hop to my finger, lol she not getting it thus far. But when she wants to find me, she flutters to the floor and walks around, chirping at the top of little bity lungs! Oh she is all green with a grey head, and of course very cute!

Also, Dec. 12, Was my last day on the work front. Lots of stuff happened, But the main jist is I just cannot handle Retail. Loved what I was doing, but it was to stressful for me to deal with "some" of the customers, not to mention the insane varied hours...And, I was doing everything But what i was hired for.
So for my own emotional well being gave 2 weeks notice and walked with my head held high, while i still had some self confidence. So, i am back to the job search...Meanwhile Steve, the kids and i all had physicals, and dental stuff while I still had insurance, now i have cobra for a time. We were able to crawl out of the financial hole and got caught up...So some great things happened too. LOL, we are good to go on the getting old thing, and it seems, my aches and pains are just that, getting old!!

So, since I've been back at home, I've been trying to get caught up on things that were just let go of since i started working...So, ive been doing lots of reading, and writing (letters)....Working on a special project that I am hoping to finish today, what else is new, I am late again!

Dear Sistah, I was so Sorry for you and Kel's loss... I know Murdock is with you always.
Oh and i was just smiling away at your Christmas dinner with Kels cousin! wow, what beautiful trees!

OMG, was thinking about you all big time yesterday as i watched the Rose bowl parade!! Remebering our gathering at the Rose Garden and playing Princess with Phylis and BJ!! Gosh that was fun.

So, its been mostly lurking around again but now maybe i can get to the computer more! We are snowed in here! still going!

I hope that you all have been well and I hope that many, many good things happen for you all in 2014!!
OHWAH, Hope to see you in April.

got to dash for a bit.

Love & Armwraps
Judy

Here is Petrie, she was having an afternoon nap!

and the gardens in a blanket of snow...The build up on the greenhouse is just from last night, Jake keeps it pretty clear so it doesn't cave.

Just wish the sun wouls shine. Really need it lots!!!!!!! Have a great day all.... my hubby has bees smoke free for 130 days! I am so proud of him.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Sweet little birdie. ♥♥♥

Congrats to hubby on his milestone. Not an easy thing to do.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hello everyone. A continous downpour here that makes Kel a grumpy redneck! Too stubborn to use an umbrella, so he got wet today. He thought it's straight home from the doctor's, but I had plans for a trip to the grocery store. If Grumps needed to be fed, he got to get wet again!

We don't want you to have any hallecunitations, Sis Kathy. Glad that Phenegran and Loritab work out for you. I'm glad that it's winter, so that means no yard work for you! Are you ready for the game tonight?

LK, at least your head's returning to normal. Don't grab any cold drinks, continue with hot teas. That project can wait sistah. Your health is much more important.

I am so sorry that you had to quit your job sis Judy. At least u hadn't invested too much of your life into it. Petrie is so pretty.. now you have another 'puppy bird'!
Skittles is now happily giving my furkitties a fright in pets heaven!
With time on your hands now, you can return to quilting!!

Ronna, tell your DH that we are very proud of his 130 days! His lungs must be thanking him too.
If he had been smoking for a long time, giving up is not an easy thing to do.
Now you have to focus on getting your cholestrol numbers down.

Carole, Kel has shown interest in writing now. He had purchased some books to help him but he has not picked on a topic. I told him he could start writing on something he is very familiar with, and that's farting!! Lolol.
Secretly, I am glad that his interests don't involve drugs nor alcohol. It's bad enough we have to rely on medications and I grab that cabernet now and then!

I had mentioned Kel's second cousin, Brad. The one with a 100 Christmas trees.
He wrote this 'poem', a soliloquy I called it. .
No drama...... just sharing and I believe a few sistahs will be nodding along with me!

Some people are never happy
Unless they're bringing someone else down
Never want to see someone smile
Only want to make them frown

Selling their negativity
Like a virus; spreading throughout
Never a kind word to be said
Unhappiness they seethe and tout

I can no longer bear these a**h***s
Or the **it spewing from their mouths
I'll let them know where to get off
Oh, my word you should not doubt

I've said it before, I'll say it again
And this time will be my last
I've been good as long as I can
But now I must show my **s

I'm done with trying, done with caring
It's time for me to rebel
Now all these people dumping on me
Can kiss my *** and go to *bleep*!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Very well said Jaye.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

i'm not gong to comment

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Kel and I thought so too, LK.

That's okay Sis Kathy. Bradley's a Christian, and he's not one to cuss, but he had reached his limits. So this surprised us when he expressed himself this way. He's being sincere, no sugar coating. I'm sure he asked the Lord for forgiveness.
God knows we all have weaknesses and still can feel pain. Bradley's pain is not new to some of us.

Happy New Year to everyone
Jaye Stanford just gave up !! could you believe the last few plays ? what was they thinking ?
had a wonderful NYE with a friend. We danced the night away
i had a good quick mom get away , felt good.
Tim is back in West Virginia. We are talking after a big blow out. Things have settled for now.
Judy so cute your little bird.
Hope those who were ailing are better.
many hugs to you all
snow and severe cold , down under 0 for next couple days.
brrrrr

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

We staret out our new year with some warm sunny days. Sorry so many are suffering with snow and cold. I am waiting for some rain though. I'm wondering if my front lawn will ever be green again. DH used to keep it so nice, but when he couldn't mow any more and no rain everything turned brown. Next week the doctor appointments start again. Was so nice not to be running off to the doctor every other day or week.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Jaye, yes I work with one in particular that person who is like that. To the point. Thanks. It really does bring you down and all the coworkers too. Yes, my hubby did smoke for over 40 years. He would cough and wheeze. Also he found out he had an uppper respitory infection for a long time and he did not even know this. So goes to show you. Take care of your self.
It was a blamy minus 8 this morning. Cold to say the least. At least we are not suppose to get any snow today. But for the next five days snow is on the menu.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Good Morning Ladies,

Those of you getting rain and snow and are complaining about it.......You could send it this way........One of our main lakes (Folsom) is so low that they are calling it a pond :( Our rainy months are Dec (Not a single drop of rain), Jan (may get some on the 11th, but not holding my breath) and Feb........ I can just imagine what fire season is going to be like :(

that bama game just plain sucked!
wind chill of 9 degress here

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cindy your lake looks like ours. Hope you get some rain soon.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hello everyone

Sue, Stanford didn't want it bad. Good to read that at least you are talking it out with Tim.

Pegi, you never gave up on Darwin. We'll keep on praying that the Lord gives you the strength to take care of Darwin's needs.

That's scary Ronna, an URI and DH's unaware. 40 years is a long time, and he'd have that smoker's cough even though he quit smoking. I am sure, food tastes better now for him.
A negative attitude co worker does bring down the morale of the rest. Can't the management do something about it, as it brings down productivity too?

Sis, we are sick over the loss. Saban didn't complete his 'process'. That late pass interference penalty kinda sealed Oklahoma's win. I quit watching after that call and slept.

Yes, Cindy, dry spells are forest fires best friend! I'll send you our rain and the cold too! If it keeps going on with no relief, your water supply mighy see some restrictions by your county.

Hey LK, how are you feeling sistah?

On the mend Jaye. Still a little stuffiness in the head, but feeling better!

Working on this for my friend in San Antonio. Late Christmas pressie!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I just HAD to print that one out LK!!! That is what Norm calls our cat; has done so for years....

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I like that LK! I'm proudly wearing the sweater you made me, and everywhere I go, YOU got compliments!!

Lol Barb.. don't we spoil our furry babies!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Can't wait to see yours Barb! I am making all the squares fat cats, no filler blocks in between. I am also making it a lap size quit.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

You're undertaking a courageous task LK. No filler blocks.. what a woman!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I'm cheating LK . I'm only making one fat cat block for Norm to hang on his wall!!!! I do want to search for fabrics first though. Our cat is a calico and I want to find something like that....

Here she is stoned on fresh catnip on Christmas morning!

Thumbnail by Quilter5bdsr

Lol Barb, that is so cute and funny.

fat cat blocks and then there is a cute cat pic ?? i have no idea on the conversation LOL .
a fellow who works with my husband complained he spent his last 5.00 on cigerettes and has no fuel to get to the next job site in West Virginia ........ yea husband isn't happy with this guys prioritys LOL .
Jaye i guess we are talking it out ? same conversation as the last 8 yrs. Im just waiting for the right moment if there is such a thing. when kids are out of school that is when the ball comes down.
today i got upstairs and went through all the junk. scrapbooking, arts and crafts, toys, ect.... 4 large bags later of stuff and 4 large bags of garbage and some furniture ( plastic ) its down and ready for Goodwill. ( not the garbage )
Judy i remember the droughts when i lived in Ca wow. Hope you can get some rain soon.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh my!!! Stoned on catnip!! Lolol.. funny Barb. They must be priceless entertainment.

Hi Cody. I'm wondering if Alex have a pet yet?

Sue, only your heart can tell you when it's time. My sister filed for divorce from her husband of 22 years a few months back. She waited till the youngest is 16.
I have also started getting rid of junk!! What I haven't used in years.. like size 12 clothes.. off they go! Lol!

It's gonna go down to the teens. Yes, the teens here sistahs. Supposed to be 22 actual temp, but
the winds helped bring the temps down. At least, no hurricanes, tornadoes nor snow..
Kel has a habit of calling me up from work and reminding me to allow a slow stream from a faucet. Yet, he kept forgetting to turn on the lamp in the pump house!! So.. I'd have to trek out in the cold, to do so.. gingerly managing my footsteps in icy cold puddles and shooing the cats that weave through my legs!
Brrrrr.. great time for hot cocoa and football!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Love that picture Barb.

Jaye be careful going out on that ice.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Uh, here I am again up at 3 a.m. sure wish I could sleep thru the night. Gggrrr. Well gotta get used to it I guess. So sorry for the droughts there in ca. Looks awful. We kinds went thru that a couple years ago. But not now. When all this snow melts? Who knows.
we are suppose to get another 8 inches by monday. It has been so cold here. Minus eight yesterday and the high was only 15. Today a nice balmy 28.
My son has to head back to Texas today. He had to rent a car and drive to Champiagn Illinois meets some of his Army buddies then ride with them to Texas. It really saved him , ots of cash. His truck is not good on gas. Sure wish I was going with him. Last year I did it was so uch fun. I rode back with him then stayed with my uncle (who is one day older then I am) and his family. It was so much fun. Never ever been out that was. We went to a rodeo and seen some sights. Then I flew home. First time ever doing that. Well I've rambled on enough. Have a great saturday all. Prolly be back later.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Cold here too, Jaye. 18° right now. Forecast is for snow and 2° Sunday night going up to a whopping 7° Monday and back down to 1° Monday night. Ugh. So far, the coldest temps have been the mid-teens which is cold enough. I've got to keep the water dripping as well and pray that my car comes through it okay.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! How about some hot cocoa to warm those that are cold! It is 37 here this morning.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

It's -10 here this morning!!! A bit chilly it is. I'm so grateful for Norm and that I don't need to go out for anything. Had a haircut appointment for yesterday but that got cancelled. I'll set it up again later.
Yes, our fat cat is just that - fat. But the vet says she is healthy and that is all that matters. She is getting old so we are not going to put her on any kind of diet. She will pass happy when the time comes...... She was a rescue cat from a neighbor who had an abusive child.
He was going to put her down and we said we would take her. They moved and I have often wondered what that child is like now.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Hot cocoa sounds delicious about now, Linda. :) Our temp is going up today. It's already at 30°.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We are upside down, it's 26 at home and 16 here in TN, supposed to get warmer here today. even rain tomorrow, and the word is MI is going way low....just in time for us to go home.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Stay warm ladies!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I lost you for a while. Sorry about the loses in bowl games ladies. I just hope that isn't setting the stage for Monday night. Not going to think about it......

Kim and I got home late last night after spending 10 hours driving, stopping and driving. A semi had turned over on I-75N and it has traffic backed up for over 15 miles. We covered 10 miles in a 2 hour period!!!!! Appeared to be some time of substance that required them sanding the highway fairly heavy with sand. The signs said it was 28 when we arrived in Tally. Great trip, Sue was sad to see us go but maybe she will think more seriously about moving closer.

Lots to do today and refuse to leave the house starting tomorrow afternoon. No way will I venture out in the weather that is headed this way.

To those already experiencing this, stay safe and warm. Jaye, just tell Kel I said NO MORE after dark ventures for you!!!

This message was edited Jan 4, 2014 11:03 AM

Hi Jaye!! Yes we have a big boxer dog.He is a big protected dog.He barks who ever pulls up next door to my dads.Needless to say no ones will not come up to my yard.He runs lose in the yard, but he has a under ground fence. So he know how far he can go in the yard.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Due to the drought we are having, fruit and veggie farmers will only get 5% of water, so a lot of them are not planting this year. So therefore fruits and veggies are going to be very expensive. So I will be growing a lot of my own this year (veggies)....I think I better head to the river and start packing water and fill a rain(less) barrel, before it dries up ^_^

This year has started out way better than last year. Doug and I will be getting out more to ride. Going to a show next Saturday, then to an Old School Biker saloon for some CRAZY partying. Plus I plan on learning to ride my sporty, my hand has finally healed to where I can pull the clutch in, Thank the Lord.....

Enjoy your Saturday, Ladies

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Boxers are great guard dogs.

Sounds like your going to have lots of fun on the bikes Cindy. Just be careful. Road rash can be quite painful.

Marion that makes for a long trip when traffic shuts down like that.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Yes LK, I watch constantly!!!! And I will be so bundled up in leathers I won't be able to move, lol.....but the 10 day forecast says 66% chance of rain that day so we may end up driving
