What's your new year's resolution sistahs?
Mine is to be kinder to Kel!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I found you Jaye. Trying to hide on us!

I am going to try and eat healthier.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Did I give an invalid link? Tried to return to the previous room, but it froze on me.
Glad you found me LK. I'm always lost!

Great resolution LK. We'll try not to tempt you with calorie laden recipes!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

^_^

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I gave up making resolutions, didn't keep them anyhow.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I have to eat healtier too, just say I'm going to try. I never could keep a resolution so don't bother to make any. Hoping to get some work done around here, but I always say that and it never happens. I have an unplugged toilet now, just hope it stays that way. DH did most of the hard work, I just made my arms sore trying to use the plunger. One man on a video said he poured dish washing liquid down with some hot water and just waited a while then added more hot water. Seems it worked for him and without a plunger. May give that a try if we get it clogged up again. Went to the doctor and picked up prescription for the pain pills for DH. Each time they are filled I need to get a new written prescription and take it to the pharmacy. Most prescriptions are just put in the computer for the pharmacy. Well, I waited and waited. They told me it would take about 30 min. I finally went up and asked about it and said I had been waiting for an hour and for some reason the prescription just laid there and wasn't filled. I kept DH waiting in the truck for 2 hoours. I was so disgusted, but what can you do.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Ugh. I hate it when that happens. :( So frustrating!

I've only had one fish tank. We bought it from a neighbor in San Diego. They didn't have any luck with fish so I should have taken the hint. It was a fairly large one. Fresh water tank. I didn't have any success with it either so that was the end of that. When I was a child, daddy used to have a lovely fish tank and he was able to keep the water so clear and the fish so healthy. He had a lot of guppies, neons, smaller fish. I think I got overly-ambitious with the fish I bought. Perhaps I should have turned into a big terrarium. :-) Now terrariums are something I've done successfully. Back in the day we used to have bottled water delivered in 5 gallon glass bottles and they made great terrariums as well. :) I always get a kick out of this fella's terrarium.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Woke up this morning with no voice and sore throat. Will try to get into urgent are today.

Love that terrarium.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Awww Linda hope you're feeling better soon, seems to be quite a bit of that going around. Trying to dodge it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am just glad it is not the flu that is going around. So far 16 in Texas have died from the flu. Most of them in the Dallas area.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

mine is to start excersising again, and eat heathier. of course we have a fast this month at church, so one whole ay without food

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

So you're revolting against resolutions, Karen! I think we should all revolt against something this year. Starting first of Jan next year, I shall revolt against deep fried stuffs! Save cooking oil for sure! So that means no more fast food french fries.

Pegi, our WM here renews Kel's prescriptions automatically. No waiting.. just go when it's time. The drawback is, Kel can't compare prices with other pharmacies unless Kel asked the doctor to sign another chit.. and to do so, he had to cancel with WM. Good way for WM to make instant money.
I'll note that liquid soap trick.

Carole, it was my dad too that started my interest in aquariums. He had quite a big tank, but it was me that had to help clean the tank. Goldfish and guppies and sometimes he'd bring back something he'd scooped from the local rivers. They don't survive long in captivity.
Imagine that, a bog terrarium.. interesting!

Goodness LK, you just got over bronchitis. Are you overworked or overstressed LK? Please take care of yourself, and being lazy now and then doesn't hurt.
Gives your body a chance to rejuvenate, and your mind too!

Fasting is good for you Sis. When I was a Muslim, we had to fast for a straight 30 days, from sun up to sun down.
No drinks, unless you're ill. What did I get from that.. nothing spiritual (since I was already a rebel) but some weight loss and a gaunt look!!

Came back from the dentist. Got a list of what needed to be done. Seems my bottom teeth are okay. The top teeth... well... I'm not ready for dentures. :(

Happy New Year! was asleep by 9 o'clock

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We had a great New Years Eve gathering here in TN. Sadly half of these(MI grands and TN greats) had to head back to MI today. We will be here a few more days.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Well happy new years to all. We are getting hammered with lots of snow. We did trek to walmart and got some bad for us food. For when we watch the Rose Bowl. Then I have to be good. Found out the other day from the doctor my choleserol is 244. I really do not think I have to bad of a diet.... but was looking at the labels of the stuff here at home. There is lots of stuff there all no, no's. Stupid junk why is it ever in there? I think its so they can charge more for the other stuff. Oh well we will try and be good. I really do not do resolutions either. But I always lose about 20 lbs in the summer. Then the minuet snow happens it comes right back on. So usuually it is to loose weight. Ggrrrr.

Linda I sure hope you are feeling better soon. There is so much crud going around. Lots of coworkers sick. I have from the first to the 5th off our son has to leave on the 4th. Back to Texas. Well have a great new years everyone. Our fish are doing good.

mulege, Mexico

Happy New Year to all.

It is sunny and warm here. Last night was quite quiet here. The furbabies and I will have a whole chicken for diner. And maybe bones, too. It's a holiday, after all.

Think I've had a touch of flu. I usually have a nice burst of energy after surviving - and even enjoying - another Christmas but I'm still on slow. However, I've gotten some work done in the new garden. We picked a midget watermelon yesterday. tony was supposed to take it home with him but he forgot.

We have chard, spinach and squash doing well and a brug that I moved from a very shady spot where it was not doing well is putting out new growth.

No complaints here. I'm taking it easy so's not to get really sick.

hugs, katie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Love the family photo Karen!

What part of Texas does your son live in! That is quite a drive, hope he is flying.

Nothing growing in our gardens here Katie, frost has killed everything for the year!

Please be careful giving chicken bones to the fur babies, they are not good for them. They splinter and get stuck in their throats.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

well, we had ham, turnip greens, black eyed peas and corn bread for dinner. it was yummy!
prayer nite, i'll be thinking of you in church tonite.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

How is your back doing Kathy?

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Thank you, Jaye. We do too.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I still have some UFOs Jaye but this is the year (it says here in fine print!!!).
Hope to get the binding sewn onto the quit for my bed tomorrow and then get to sit and do the hand sewing. Nice and relaxing....

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Happy New a Year, Sistahs!!!

I had the Yankee traditional meal tonight. Roast pork with sauerkraut and mashed taters. Oh yum!

I hope we all have a quiet, safe and healthy 2014.

Hi everyone!!!
Happy New Years!!!
Hi Jaye, thanks!!! I wish you the very best this year too.
For the ones that is sick,i hope y'all get well soon.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

You read what Ronna wrote, Karen?? Stay a little longer in TN if you want to avoid snow.
I don't think it's wise for you to be travelling after the fall either. Hope it's not a nasty one. Nice group picture there. So envy you with a large family.

Ronna, the only thing I looked out for on labels are the sugar content, since I'm diabetic. As for Kel, he compares the sodium amt. since his bp is quite high. Cholestrol can sneak up on you. Yes, it's natural to turn to fatty foods in winter.
Good luck on eating healthier food.

Sending you healing vibes Katie. Watch that flu please, don't let it turn into pneumonia. Lots of warm fluids and you having no energy.. thats your body insisting on rest for recovery. The garden can wait, and I'm sure Tony would want you to lay off the
physical work.

If Wednesday bible studies fall on a holiday, Sis.. our church would cancel them. Thank you for remembering us.

U know I'm gonna ask for pictures once you've finished your project Barb. Got a baby quilt to finish, and I think that will be next for me. After all. football is almost over and I can concentrate on perfect seams!! Lol!

And I think as much as I tell our sistah here to rest.. I'm sure LK hasn't put away her sewing machine.. right LK?

Cookie, that roast pork sounds good! Never had sauerkraut with it, and I love the red ones with apple bits added.

LSU won!!! Anyone from Iowa here? I can't believe the Hawkeyes' fans booed at injured LSU players. That's something we frown upon. No one wants to see kids hurt on the field. Still, with a new QB and young defense, LSU managed to win. Poor Hawkeyes.. they had bragged that LSU didn't scare them before the game.
Shame on me. I was screaming at the screen after the game "WHO owns you now? And that's for booing at my kids" Lolol!! At least I didn't cuss.
Yah, I can be a bit looney when it comes to college football.

Sorry Sue. Stanford didn't want it bad. MSU certainly showed up even without their star D captain.

Okay.. back to the game. Baylor and UCF on. Oh.. managed to pray during the Rose Bowl halftime!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

((((((((((((Cody))))))))))))))) AND ((((((((((Alex)))))))))))
Love you both!

Yay LSU rules!!!

((((((Jaye)))))we both love you too.))))
(((HUGS)))

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I'm OK Jaye, a bit bruised, a swollen knee and some other sore spots. I manage to do this two or three times a year, a bit of a klutz. Staying down today and maybe tomorrow, then will be OK.

Roast pork and sauerkraut just seem to go together, in fact pork any way is good with kraut. I like to add apple and just a wee bit of brown sugar to help mellow the kraut. Makes the pork fall apart tender.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Karen what did you do?

Morning everyone. Still coughing but my head is not as congested.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

One of my usual Klutz moves, tripped over a floor vent of all things, (just don't take much for me). Feeling better today, staying on my hinny yesterday helped. I've had bad knees nearly forever so of course it's the place I hit the most often.

Hoping you are feeling better, sucks to be sick over a holiday.

Really enjoying our time here in TN. Brody 4, shows up in the middle of the night to snuggle with me. I don't have the heart to send him back to bed, who knows how long I'll be able to get the extra cuddling.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

lnda, my back is about the same. had to stop the percaset, cuz they started making me have halutionations, so now it's loritab, and Phenergan. the Phenergan makes the loritab work better and don't upset my stomach.
go t the pain clinic on the 14th.

geaux TIGERS!
