Snow Squall Warning
Issued at Tuesday, 31 December, 2013 12:18 PM
Snow squalls today and tonight.
A snow squall has developed over Lake Huron and Georgian Bay and is shifting slowly southward. The squall currently lies across Wiarton and Southern Georgian Bay and is forecast to continue southward into the Collingwood area this afternoon. Late this afternoon or early this evening, a snow squall is expected to become oriented northwest to southeast and affect areas from the Bruce Peninsula to Midland to Lake Simcoe and possibly inland to Lindsay. As the snow squalls meander, they are likely to spread snow over a broad area. Near zero visibilities are the main threat. However snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm may be possible under the most intense snow squalls especially if they become more stationary. Motorists travelling into the regions should be prepared for sudden reductions to visibility and accumulating snow on untreated roads. Snow squalls are expected to weaken Wednesday morning. Please monitor the latest forecasts and warnings from Environment Canada at www.weatheroffice.gc.ca.
That doesn't sound good.
I went to urgent care and got more meds.
You can keep it.
Hope the meds help LindaKay! Are you trying to stay in bed
Betty, I am far more worried about you driving in that snow storm than about a cement truck falling into the ocean 500 miles north of here!! The cement truck driver survived which is a miracle given some of the drops off that road. That road, by the way, is one I do not take as the border at Chula Vista/TJ is very difficult both ways so I make the extra trip to Tecate where several of the Mexican border guards know me and even those that don't, don't give me a hard time. I got to the point where I gave some of the Mexican border guards a hard time back in TJ but that's only fun once or twice and they have delayed me for hours - which is their entertainment.
Our day has warmed up a lot. I have a little more energy so I worked some in the new garden and I'm catching up on the laundry. The dirty dishes are next.
hugs, katie
Betty, send me the snow, and, I'll send you this horrifying arctic air mass ..
PLEASE drive carefully!
Even though my car is brnad new, before we left this morning I put a blanket and some candles and those hand warmer things in a bag, just in case.
But, we made it there and back and I do not intend to move for a while .. have a veggie tray and some stuff from M&Ms to cook up for muching on.
May not even see midnight, but, I'll try ..
I think lotsa folks mad New Years resolutions as the gym was quite busy today ..
Jewel was very sleepy, she had a poor night last night .. will see if I get in to see her tomorrow.
Wishing everyone a SPLENDIFEROUS 2014 !!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR LADIES ^_^
~M~
Sending Happy New Year wishes to all.
I've been looking for Debbie and Dianne and now I'm getting really worried. If anyone has heard from them, please just let us know they are okay?
Betty please be safe driving. Maybe you should ask Sharon if she wants two patients????
Sounds pretty dangerous to be driving in to me....
LK sure hope you get better fast and you too Katie!!!
One step at a time with the projects Mary. That is all anyone can do.....
Calling it a day and a night, in bed, meds and hoping to leave for Sharon's early morning..drats muscles are in spasms, guess from being worried over going to the city. Feeling guilty, if I hate doing anything it's making a commitment then not keeping it regardless of the reason.
Add this to my regularNew Years emotions and I'm a basket case
So want to wish you all a happy NewYear and especially thanking you all for always being there
Like you all would be nice to get a quick post from Dianne,Debbie and Crissy
Night night everyone

Sorry to hear so much is going on at your place Debbie. Sending (((((((((((HUGS))))))))))) and prayers your way.
Debbie it's great to hear from you... Shane looks so grown up and so tall. His GF looks nice too... I know it was a blessing to have them there..
With the girls gone... I have peace without the drama. I was reminded of that when they returned for Christmas and sat there arguing Christmas morning very loudly and it was nice to know that they would leave ... hard to say but true.
Good for Kyle and Nate to keep you company on NYE.
M... please be careful in that weather...
Thanks Katie... they were busy today but closed at 3 and tomorrow. Funny picturing all the dogs in a twin bed with you. just like my Mom.
Betty stay home my dear ! No need for 2 patients as was pointed out.
HUGS all and Happy New Year !
Mary
Happy New year everyone!

Lordy Debbie, you sure do have a lot on your plate..hopefully the worse was over in 2013 and best to come this year.So glad you have Nate and Kyle to offer you emotional support.

BRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr .. another morning/day of frigid cold .. -46 this morning ... so glad I am NOT a dog !!!
Lilly had a very bad night last night, I stayed up with Gord til the APPLE fell, and, as I tiddled on to bed at 1230am, someone let off fire works, in the extreme cold, well, they sounded like bullets or mini bombs going off, Lilly and Piper started to shake and fret, the noise stopped at 1250, but, we couldn't settle Lilly until about 2am, and even then, she slept in my arms .. not much sleeping went on til she moved around 4am
Poor wee things .. it's not like the neighbours are close, it was loud due to the cold.
All is well now though ..
Debbie, huggin ya gurl, feel your pain .. can't tell you to feel better, or, that this will pass because it just doesn't help the hurt .. with me, it's my daughter in law, Alison, who is fast making our granddaughter Brooklyn a carbon copy of 'HER MAJESTY THE DRAMA QUEEN'
I almost (ALMOST) have to take a valium before she comes over (Alison) .. she is trying to be nice for our sons sake, and, it shows .. although, I must say she carried it off well this Christmas, but, I don't trust her as far as I could throw her, which isn't too far!
So glad to hear your other kids pitched in to make your holiday brighter.
BETTY!!!! Sheesh .. do you have an 'emergency kit' in your car, in the BACK SEAT !! We made sure mine was IN the car, not the trunk (which still is not working) .. that way, if need be, I don't have to get out of the car if I end up in the ditch.
BIG HUGS to you as well on this day ..
Staying HOME today .. just too darned cold to go anywhere, have promised to make beef stroganoff.
Take good care everyone
Toodles

happy new year all
Thank you so much "M" - the card is lovely and so thoughtful.
And a Happy New Year to all!!!
Norm and I never made it to the ball either although we did try. About 11:15 we both woke up in our chairs in front of the TV - got up and went to bed!!!!
I agree. Loved that card.
Loved the card as well..waving to all
big sigh
was up just after 4:30am wanting to get an early start...NOT
couldn't believe the amount of snow we received yesterday
when daybreak finally came I knew without the plows I would get nowhere
photo 1 is where my car was parked, snow up to mid door
thought after a few e-mails saying how disappointed Sharon and Mom were that I was not there I thought I'd shovel a bit and try to get out..made about 8 ft and stuck in the snow
knew I wasn't going anywhere
then comes the township plow, scrapes about 3' of snow at the end of my drive..thought about getting shovel out but no way, I wouldn't survive that amount of shovelling
so now it's wait until Andrew gets here to do my drive and hope that he'll help me get out
ask me if I'm happy
wouldn't care if it weren't for the circumstances
very nice card M, thanks and same to you.
Betty, just don't know what to say, other than I love you and send you many many hugs♥♥♥♥♥
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Betty)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
♥♥♥♥♥
please be very careful when you go out
Deb, ditto the hugs above. sew Happy you have had time with Shane. sorry the child is being the drama queen...
Linda K hope you are feeling better.
Happy New Years well wishes for every one.
Betty, you need to have someone on standby with a snow blower to do your drive way! You should not even think of picking up a shovel!
Not going anywhere, paining like crazy
Sharon called, my SIL Kim will go spend the day with mom when Sharon leaves for Bethel House at 1:30pm..it will be hard for mom so company is a must.
Surprised to hear that mom will stay at Sharon's..she will go spend the day with Jim and Sharon will spend evening and night
Andrew just came, he said yesterday's fall was well over 1 foot.
between he and Kyle I am mobile
snowbanks are now taller than I, can hardly see the back shed..Kyle thinks they would make great snowmobile jumps
With travelling the ice I'm glad to see Kyle wearing ice-picks around his neck
reminded me that he has 3 friends wanting the wool neckwarmers that I attached deer hyde to
(Barb did you ever make yours-would help so much when outside in the cold..cold/wind cannot penetrate the hyde)
Kyle's proud of his new machine
it's a winter wonderland out there
will call Jeff and let him know I'll not be there for supper then think a lay down is in order
unless things change home is where I shall be
LindaKay I have a snowblower under the deck, new, likely used only a few times, thing was I'd never be able to get it out
going to call around to see who I might get to do front deck and walkway..told Kyle not to do it as a few of his fellow snowmobilers were waiting for him on the trail..great day for a ride.
Take it from me Betty .. and I know you know what I'm talking about .. 'arthritis and EXCESSIVE exercises are NOT a match made in heaven', set me flat on my can last year, and not for a day, for a few months ..
I can't imagine how disappointed you feel ..
The snowblower scenario is what we live with here in the north .. once that plow plows up a 3-5 foot windrow at the end of your driveway, yer kinda SUNK (literally).
Just made a pumpkin pie .. thank heavens for microwaves .. had to thaw the pumpkin pulp out .. wasn'y on my 'to do list' .. so .. I'm off to sort out 2 weeks worth of meds and vitamins.
Take care all
~M~
OHMIGOSH .. wonderful pics, would LOVE that snow here (OMG, did i TYPE that)!!!
Good to hear your staying home !
Kyle is such a handsome young man, love his sled !!!
~M~
I agree "M", not a good mix! I sound like an overplayed record "I'm in pain, I'm in pain"
my new year resolution should be not to mention it..let's see how long I can last.
wanted to post these little angels
Addy, along with mega health issues is home with Alex
A Happy New Year for the family I'm sure!
Again, thanks for your prayers, miracles do happen
past time, but thought it was cute. so I am sharing.
'Twas the night before Christmas,
And the quilts were not made.
The threads were all tangled, the cookies delayed.
The stocking weren't hung, the pantry was bare.
The poor weary Quilter, was tearing her hair.
Stacks of fat quarters, tipped over in streams.
Visions of Log Cabins, had turned into dreams.
When what to her wondering eyes should appear,
But a bus full of quilters with all of their gear.
They went straight to work with just a few mutters,
Sorting and stitching and brandishing cutters.
The patterns emerged from all of the clutter,
Like magic the fabrics arranged in a flutter.
Log Cabins, Lone Stars, Flying Geese & Bear Tracks
Each quilt was a beauty-even the backs.
Her house how it twinkled, her quilts how they glowed.
The cookies were baking, the stockings were sewed.
Their work was all done, so they folded their frames,
And packed up their needles, without giving their names.
They boarded the bus, and checked the next address.
More quilts to be made, another quilter in distress.
She heard one voice echo, as they drove out of sight,
Happy quilting to all and to all a good night!

Merry Merry, Happy Happy, Quilty Quilty Y'all!!
Smilling Thunder, love the poem!

Hello and Happy New Year!!
We had a nice evening...Steve made this fish soup from a recipe he saw in the paper.
It was really good but he added extra hot stuff and it was too spicey for me.
Next time he will make it without the hot! Anyway, lile fools we went out in the storm to the Cuz house...hared dinner and nice comversation and came. home o bring in the NY with the kids. Jake & Em had just one couple over Scott & his girl and Breenie was sleeping! She awoke long enough to cheer in 2014. We followed her lead and went to bed too.
So today has been just a nice lazy day, Steve and I are having a catch up on all the recorded shows marathon. It's still snowing...but looks lovely.
Oh, Debbie, so sorryy to hear of the added drama. So glad your son is there.

Well be back shortly to comtinue...right now Dh and I are going to make breakfast!
Update on Dianne!!!!
I just got off the phone with her! She is FINE. BUT still no internet or connections/computer. Because of the snow and ice storms....the connection is the last of the worries for the company.
She MIGHT hear something as to the problem on Monday the 6th.
The ice is so bad, even poor Diesel slid down the hill to the lake....and then so much trouble getting back up! BUT they are fine....dealing with the weather.
She does have her car back and repaired....but because of so much snow and ice, afraid to go out unless absolutely necessary.
She sounds very good, and sends Happy New Year wishes to everyone!!!
