L A Z E E day here .. for me anyway .. I am plagued with this danged arthritic stiffness and pain, but, I did help hubs make and bag 2-3 weeks of dog food .. cleaned toilets (OH how glamorous) and, am now awaiting the arrival (supposed) of DHs brother and wife for coffee and a visit. made THE fatal error of putting out a plate of dainties, way too close to me !! Had to move them back into the fridge LoL
Lorna put the picks on her boots and went for a good walk .. i could have perhaps made it half way .. they don't tell ya that in the winter, these replacements get COLD .. someone told me that 2 years ago and I thought she was crazy !
Gord made a huge pot of turkey soup, looks nummy, tastes sweet for some reason, must be either the turnip or carrots he used, he's quite the 'BUDDY CROCKER' when he wants to be.
Betty, I must say I wish I had HALF your energy, 2 trips from the house to the garage and back is my limit ..
It'll stay decorated here til past NYears Day.. May put a few slightly annoying (in the way) kinds of things away ..
I sure do hope Sharon is able to access Hospice for Jim .. I do believe my friend Jewel may be going into Hospice if a bed is available and she can make it. I should have gone to see her today, but am waiting til tomorrow
Compnay has arrived

Best/Worse/What did I learn today?chat with friends old&new
"M" keep reading the downfalls of hips..yikes, me who is always out and about in the cold, really have to consider this entire situation..hear you about the goodies!
Believe they have a bed for Jim, now for Sharon to say the word..will be soooo hard
Omg Katie, knew right where the beard/wig was, even had curlers in the wig to make ringlets, didn't do a very good job. Lol
Just emailed Jeff, know he is busy this week it asked I'm to check the Santa suit to see if he has a wig/beard..think the one I have is the old one..once he confirms he has a set then if you want off this one goes to you
I'd love it, Betty. Thanks, katie
It's yours Katie, Jeff just said he has the new set I ordered a few years ago
Will take a photo later, might be something you will not want..wouldnt be offended
Darlene and Rita are enjoying themselves, offered me a plane ticket, not no, have to pass on it
They are going to flea market tomorrow and will stop at Joann's, said if the store has Xmas fabric left they will top me up
I'm cuddled into my new grandma chair, trying to fing the setting I'm most comfy in..maybe I just like playing with the buttons. Lol
Betty, Sharon just posted power is on!!! Thank God!!!
Christmas morning started out badly, I have to say.......
I called my Mom to wish her Merry Christmas and a staff member answered - said she's not feeling well, and the ambulance was there to take her to the hospital.
Checked her for UTI (nope), then a stroke (not obvious, giving her an dye test to see if it's a stroke), and will give her a spinal injection to see if it's meningitis. She's been admitted, and has gone from being disorientated and confused, trying to remove her clothing, etc....to getting antibiotics and looking normal.
She's now recognizing people, knows it's Boxing Day, and is being kind again.
She said she wasn't well yesterday and was having terrible nightmares of being barred in..... maybe that's why she was removing her clothes - felt trapped?
Anyway, she's having coffee by the spoonful, ate a hard boiled egg, and is having proper sleep.
They are going to check to see if she has meningitis (on the brain/spine?!).
They won't release her to the care home until they're certain of what it was, and that she's well enough to go to the home.
I was very scared for her......... she's not in my city - she's in Winnipeg. Lots of family to look out for her.
Glad to hear Sharon fast power.
Sending prayers for your Mom Susan.
Thanks Debbie, been on the telephone with her...even Jim wanted to get up and do a jig..
She had started today a Facebook petition having everyone contact power provider so they could get the line just between her and her neighbor repaired..apparently under the circumstances many called..not sure that us the reason it's repaired but she is enjoying heat..she said she will get Jim to the washroom then will use the jacuzzi and soak..her back is paining terribly..the lifting water jugs to flush toilet, logs for fireplace, gasping up generator..I'm thrilled for her.
Susan, had they changed your mom's meds..sometimes they will call for hallucinations, ie being imprisoned..glad she is feeling better..a fright for you.
she's doing worse..... no new meds
she's hallucinating, doesn't recognize my daughter Michelle, or her husband.
Forgot I'd gotten remarried, thought I was still with Steve.......
Forgot I'd moved to Calgary (wonder what she thought about me not visiting)........
They're going to do a spinal, to see if it's meningitis..........
Morning all..
Sure hope Susan your mornimg post will have better news and there is improvement.know you feel helpless living afar and not being able to be there. Sending hugs along with prayers.
Sure wish Dianne would post..she hadps had the same weather we've been having, worried about her!
Judy, how are you feeling after your test, glad its behind ou right
Mary, anxious to see what you got in Santa Warren exchange..must go through last few threads and see what everyone got again..kow I got spoilt
Thunder I believe is on her way to spend time with the family
Now what are you all up to..
Barely has sleep last night, guess the excitement of Sharon getting hydro, thoughts of how difficult it must have been to tell helium and mom it's hospice time.linda my cousin had same kind of night, we chatted via emails
I even made my 2014 Christmas list, now that is above being bored right or is the word agitated.
Snowing again, thought I might go to Sharon's but weather here is not conducive to travelling, might clear
up later though
With coffee in hand I will see if I can't put one of those storage units together..they will be on rollers, hope they fit under the tables with ease

Good morning. So glad to hear the heat is back on for Sharon - it has been a long time for her. Hope that Mom and Jim agree about it being time for hospice.
Praying that things are better this morning for your Mom Susan.
I have an easy day today and may try to out again tomorrow. I have some things that need my attention so if I am really careful I think I will be okay..... Due to going to my daughter's on Christmas Eve, I missed my SILs birthday. First time in nearly 30 years!!!! It is on the 24th and I have always tried to keep it separate from Christmas. Her family never does.
Barb, you feel none the worse for wear going out on Christmas Eve??? don't overdo
Is Norm home this week? drats don't you feel badly when you miss someone special's birthday..busiest time of year so likely she will understand. Now you must do something extra special for her.
Sharon said she feels terrible, like she is saying time is at a premium..everyone is upset
Played with putting one of the little storage cabinets together, I'm in good form doing so but the company missed the side rails for ribbon etc and the insert that goes on the top...they will have to be called...
Have another coffee and attempt the 2nd one..feel badly though, they were meant to help organize me and they will not fit under the table..about 3" to tall,,guess if the coaster were off they would but I will find a place for them..
thinking of finding a place for the knitting machine that way the 2 cabinets could go in that location..have been asked to make a few neck warmers with deer hyde so didn't want to move the knitting machine
speaking of deer, some have been in the back yard, saw the foot prints in the snow..will have to keep my camera nearby
few photo's taken here Christmas afternoon
have to change my Christmas shopping method..big joke was if one boy got something the other was sure to have same in the box
Jeff didn't open his gifts, knew what Greg got he got in a different color
sooo next year for sure, everyone gets something entirely different
Both Caleb and Braeden enjoyed getting rain coats/pants..with them in the wilds for 7 weeks and only tents to contend with they needed something to keep them dry
A 'cool' good morning from Canada's North, nothing like we've had, but even though it means snow, we'll take the 'warmer' temps.
Susan, why are they thinking your Mom might have meningitis? Maybe it's just a matter of ruling out everything, poor dear to have to go through all these tests.
Keeping her in my T&Ps.
Hurrah for power for Sharon! I do so hope she was able to convince Jim that Hospice is the best place for him to be .. her poor back, bending from a high level down to a low level is just a killer.
Barb, my SIL bday is the 26th. They were here yesterday for coffee and I wished her happy bday .. she said, that over the years her bday has always been lumped in with Christmas, her Mom tried to make it special, but, it was difficult .. now .. Sonja's granddaughters (7&5) MAKE her birthday .. .they decorate and make a fuss, Sonja said a tea party was in her future yesterday .. luv those little ones ..
Betty, good luck with the storge unit .. wish we were closer, Lorna is a whizz at stuff like that!
We're off to the gym before the snow starts ..
TOODLES
~M~
Susan, I hope things are better for your mom this morning. And, Betty, big hugs for you and Sharon and hope all goes well getting Jim to hospice.
It's chilly here and I'm stiff and headachy, Nothing a little tiime and aspirin won't take care of.
And furbaby snuggles. They all come in when I wake up and get petted. I lit the propane heater and Scout is in my bed by it whle I am in the kitchen with coffee and computer.
Will get back to sorting/organizing in the kitchen when I', more awake.
Am I the only one who will work hard organizing/sorting while tired and then have no recollection of why I did what I did and where things are? I've learned to atke my time and quit before my mind goes totally fuzzy.
hugs, katie
Love the Christmas pictures Betty, those boys sure are growing!
Katie, I have tried cleaning when really tired, and I searched for weeks for some stuff I put away. Won't do that again.
Barb, be careful if you have to go out again!
Susan, hope there is a good report today on your Mom.
Listening to the news, Texas has lost 13 people due to the flu this year! Worst area is near Dallas.
"M" didn't have any problem putting it together, just wish they would have included the side bars for the dowels, would have come in handy for ribbon
Greg was born New Year's day, not many wanted to go to a children's birthday party after being up celebrating the New Year..we kept telling him how much fun it would be when he grew up, everyone would be celebrating with him..then Roger died and that put an end to totally enjoying new years.
My goddaughter Stephanie picked a date in October to celebrate her birthday, she finds it more fun than having her birthday on the 31st of December.
Katie, with a little bit of tender loving care the set could look wonderful..at least better than a mop lol
LindaKay, flu is making rounds here as well..Keep out of it's path
Sharon's son Brian was unable to join her Christmas day as he was so sick, wasn't the place to be at Sharon's
perhaps when this is all over a proper Christmas can be had

Testing how smart I am..be honest
Senerio..I bought a cabinet that has insert compartment missing on the top (little slats of wood) and on the side, I have the 3 dowels they provided me but not the 2 wood sections that holds the dowel
My thought, go in, they can open a box and give me parts missing
Sounds logical to me seeing as the parts are no larger than an office envelope
Or
Put everything in a box, have to take the entire cabinet apart , shove it in the box helter skelter as nothing ever fits the same, carry it to the car (heavier than heck) give the box back to them, they replace the box, I carry the Box back in the house and put it together again
DOES my way not sound more practical or it me being difficult..
Some store policies don't make sense
Hope you can just get the parts you need!
They say I must return the box, the just can't open product..shaking my head..so they will take a full box of mixed up screws, dowels, wood but can't just slice a box open and provide me with the parts
That is pretty sad.
Good Morning.
Oh Betty, So glad the power is is back on at Sharon's...Awe, I sure hope she will get her hot tub time in too.
I know when Steve has had it, (heavy lifting days) That is the first thing he does is check out his jacuzzi!
Anyway, Whew...They sure have had a rough Christmas season, but thinking back, Must be thankful for all the Love that has been spread, during the difficult times.
I sure enjoyed all your photo's of the Holiday. Now, your list is already made for 2014, not even here yet, LOL...so i DO hope you enjoy the "granny" chair! Love it, we have one of those medical chairs that lift up and down, well mostly Steve sits in it, but When my leg doesn't feel like working, I'll utilize the buttons too.
make sure you have a snuggly blankie while you rest upon it, you certainly deserve it.
OMG, yes sure glad that test is done! Well Steve's was a completely clean, while mine wasn't so...So am really glad the Doc pushed this all important test, He said everything looked benign, will be testing so will find out in a few days...I guess now we can relax for next 3 years, 10 for DH!
For the moment We are again with out insurance until Cobra kicks in, but all our appointments have been complete, with good results, for this I am so very pleased, But oh yeah, we stuffed our faces well last night, ahahaha, decided I would never be able to be on that show Survivor!
Susan, Keeping You and Mom in thoughts and prayers. Sending you tight armwraps, I know how hard it is to be so far away. I am glad you have family with her to keep in constant touch.
Barbara, this was the first time in all the years, I missed calling my DN on her Mom's, my beloved Sister Sylvia's Birthday, (12-4)...I am sure, Your SIL will understand when you make a Birthday call. You didn't forget, you were excited to be with family after so long having to stay inside...OH, How wonderful your Christmas picture is, Brought ear to ear smiles to see You and Norm on Christmas day.
Linda Kay!! Just love the family picture, Oh my gosh Dylan is just adorable, as is your other Grands..So glad they spent Christmas morning with You and Todd...And how are you feeling? I sure hope you are much better.
Was very glad Katie, you get fur snuggles!! LOL, I forget where i put things when I'm not tired! If you are (dare i say) a List person, perhaps might be helpful to keep it going on where you put some things, especially when your too tired but keep on going. Well after your wonderful Christmas, I hope you Make the time for yourself.
Sooo...my phone is back in order, lol in case anyone wants to ringle jingle!
before handing over my old phone, Steve got a card reader to retrieve all my pictures...Was glad to get those back.
today, is a major day of catch-up...House has been put back in some order, and today will be running up and down the stairs with Laundry, yikes! Got a load going and now going to eat a good breakfast.
There is so much to do, that I've put off for the last 5 months, it's kind of insane...
One thing, is getting back in touch with all my friends here in the threads. You can't even believe hopw much I've missed you all...
So sending everyone Love and Armwraps.
I need to let Breenie, get on this computer for a while...So, ill check in with Tabby.
Please, please be careful if you are traveling today. Enjoy your visits with all those you Love.
Got to love those quiet catch up days Judy! Glad you feel all the tests went well..load off your mind.
Wonderful things you getting your life back in order, does that ever happen? lol
As for the chair, not convinced Judy I like it, kind of puts pressure on the back of my head where I don't need it..maybe it's just me, will give it a go
Is Steve off until the new year?
Guess you will start planning for NewYears..is it you who has the NewYears' Eve party?
nahhh think I'm thinking Halloween
well, going to try the 2nd cabinet, here is hoping no parts are missing
I am in Jacksonville. On my way to see #1 son and babies. About 6 hours left to travel.
Love and hugs to everyone.
Hey Judy, amazing how fast house chores accumulate when you get busy!
Thunder give those little ones hugs from us please?
Betty, I hope all the parts are there or you. Lay everything out before you start putting it together.
Can see you smilling Thunder..so around 6pm I will likely hear the kids screaming grandma/grandpa's here. Lol. Enjoy your time with them
Believe everything is there LindaKay, got 3 of the 5 drawers put together..they change mode of construction I swear with each piece. Lol
Now to figure out how best to organize the room
Betty - I can believe your not looking forward to New Year's Eve..... and Greg too, even though it's his birthday... Sorry to hear Brian was too ill to join Sharon, but really glad she has her power on!
Return the box??...... well, I hope they have someone on their end to bring the box into the store! As it's heavy, hope you have someone on your end to put it IN your car. Or are you saying you didn't have to return it as everything is there?
katie - as always, take it easy, pls
Thunder - how awesome to be with family - I know you're grinning from ear to ear :-)
Judy - how awesome that Steve's tests are completely clean! 3 years for you is great! it means you are doing well!
Sorry if I missed anyone - know that you are thought of, and loved.
No new reports on my mom, this am. no news is good news, right?
Heya!
Everyone is still in semi busy mode, organizing or building things or visiting .. enjoy everyone.
After the gym Lorna dropped me at the hospital to see Jewel, her hubby was coming out with her brother carrying bags of clothing, I thought 'OH OH', rolled the window down and Ted told me Jewel was going to be transferred to Hospice later this afternoon.
He was happy I was there as he hated to leave her alone, and, good thing, as I entered her room, she was trying to get out of bed, happy she was too weak to do so .. I sat on the bed and tried to amuse her, but, she knew she was going 'home' (she graduated from St Joes Hospital nursing where Hospice is located) .. hard to try and divert someones thoughts, and, when Ted came back to the room, she was furious with him for having left her .. stayed for a bit longer, got her up in the chair, she seemed better after that and I left, albeit, reluctantly .. told Ted I would bring the dogs up to Hospice to visit next week, or Sunday .. he would so like to bring their dog, but, he's afraid he'll bark too much ..
LOVE the beards !!! Both are just awesome !! Katie, what a wonderful gift ^_^
Susan .. thoughts with you re your Mom ..
Judy, good to hear your tests are over .. bad me, have never been :-(
Beautiful light snowfall here .. and, mild temps ~~
Best get a shuffle on, actually, no, I am walking LOTS better .. YAY!!
Toodles
~M~
Susan, Got a call, if I bring the part #'s and receipt they will provide me with the parts providing that is they have not her so that is better. Any update on your mom? Makes for a long day waiting for a call.
"M" sorry to hear about Jewel being admitted to hospice, think after someone telling you that you've cancer, telling you hospice is next must be the final blow as you know end is near.
Jim's sister and niece came to visit today,Jim broke down. Tomorrow my brother Benie and nephew Ross will visit for a bit
Visits tire Jim out
I spent 1/2 hour on the telephone with mom, she just doesn't know how she will manage living on her own, doesn't want to, told her there is no alternative
"M" one is a beard. And the other a wig..must go in search of your address Katie so I can get it off into the mail..know it takes months before you receive anything fromcanada
Wonder how Crissy is doing
Hi...Taking a break here for a few.
Did a lot, although you cant really tell just yet!! geesh i just hate when that happens.
but got all the laundry sorted and finished 5, yikes still have about 5 left! Kitchen just needs a quick sweep...all the wrapping has been condensed, re-bagged and ready to go out and recyclables broken down, ready to store... managed to work on a project, one of which is workshop snowman! play with Petrie and catch-up on a few shows on dvr.
Here's whats been up with Petrie, she has been learning quite a bit. She actually spread her wings! well, actually she flew about 3 feet...I think it rather freaked her out and she fluttered to the floor. So i've been working with her, standing close finger held out. She does a lot of bobbing and flapping of the wings, however hasn't figured out she has to let her claws go. Oh good gosh, she is the biggest mess maker!! We had to move her water again cause she keeps pooping in the bowl. She has been playing with all her toys in and out of the cage. But she still is afraid of the puff...
Oh Susan!! Geeze...I had been meaning, for days to tell you how beautiful Your Nazareth Cross turned out!
Betty, how did you make out with the second cabinet? Hope you will be able to get the pieces you need.
No Steve went to work today, most likely he'll be off Tuesday early and Wednesday...No no party for new years, we have a habit to stay home lately. Not even sure what the kids have planned, but hopefully all will venture home just before midnight to cheer 2014.
Ok got to make a salad and finish up kitchen before Steve gets home!
OH Yeah, M!! quit being chicken and get the tests done... LOL, like you this was the first for me for most of them.
Well, Thunder should be getting lots of Hugs and kisses by now...You enjoy every moment!
Linda Kay, what you been upta?
Judy - ty, re: the cross - I'm pleased with it
Just got an email from one of my sisters re: my mom:
"Here's what my sister emailed me just now:
"they took Mum up for an MRI. The results from the lumbar puncture showed abnormalities. they have her on 3 medications.
she is probably similar to yesterday afternoon/night - they have someone with her all the time to make sure she doesn’t pull out her IV, etc. she is still in Emerg, haven’t gotten a room for her yet. they leave when we are there, so we made sure we let them know that we were leaving when they took her away for the MRI. they put something in her IV to make sure she would be still when they did it.
she does stare up at the ceiling ahead of her, and think she is seeing people, and even talks to them - but it isn’t that bad because what and who she is seeing are making her happy. She sees her old house, with her mother. she talks to her, and rambles a bit about friends, a boyfriend (Dad?). she also responds to our conversation, and she ate lunch for Alice.
not the positive experience we had yesterday, but, who knows, that may return if they discover what the problem is, medicate properly, etc. or then again, maybe not. "
and then a person I know online said "maybe she's not thinking she sees these people - maybe she really sees them"....... is this person trying to tell me that my mom is "at death's door".... NOT what I needed to hear just now......... idiot!! Sorry, didn't tell her that - she's 21, and obviously doesn't think before she says something.......
Susan some people can see others that have passed. It does not mean your Mom is passing also.
Judy not doing much here. Just catching up on rest from the holiday.
I know that, LK - it's just that hearing this was not what I needed atm...... I'm worried/scared enough. But, like I said, the person who said it is young and inexperienced in the feelings of those who are going through such things.....
Judy,Petrie will be flying in no time now that you are home and can spend more time with training..not sure many people go out as much on New Years as they once did.lyou will enjoy bringing in the new year wwith Steve just relaxing..maybe you can take in a movie or better still get a new movie and popcorn and put your feet up
As for the cabinet, put 3 of the 5 drawers together and decided to do nothing for the day
Susan, always worrysome at their age when they start a downward slide..let's hope the meds get things under control today. Jim was having terrible hallucinations and once they got meds under control it helped..sending you hugs as I know you are just beyond yourself with worry
Promised the girls I would take them to Buffalo today, spend the night and return home early Sunday morning stopping at Sharon's for a quick visit then homeward bound.
Sure hope you get some sleep before your trip.
Travel safe Betty .. at least it's warmer, here as well ..
Sure hope you're up to the trip ...
Petrie sounds as though he's gonna be 'good to go' in the flying dept, and, soon !!
Typical laundry/housework day, have 2 beds stripped and may be able to put the sheets on the line if I shovel a little path out the gate .. if not, it's ok with me ..
A temp of 26F this early in the day is unheard of in late December!
Planning on a quick trip to see Jewel in Hospice, either today or tomorrow .. am hoping her restlessness and agitation will have been addressed and handled .. she was exhausted trying to get out of bed.
Prayers are with them that need'em , don't we all ^_^
Toodles

Happy Birthday Dianne. Hope the power is back on and that you and the boys are safe.
And here's me wishing her a BELATED BDay last week, oh well, she is in my thoughts.
LindaK that cake looks totally decadent .. save me a piece !!
Barb, did you get any of the 'ice storm' in NH? I think I heard some parts did, VT as well.
Diann'e area was hit hard, and, I do believe she is in a rural area which means she'll likely be last to get her power back.
Laundry marathon continues, decided against hanging the sheets on the line as it's snowing off and on ..
Have a great afternoon
