Happy Birthday Dianne ♡♡♡ many hugs.
I am here with kids. We are waiting for kyle to get here.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?chat with friends old&new
Pass the some cake if there is any less..happy birthday Dianne
Lordy, in Buffalo, felt with sunshine on my favpce that I was in Florida
Girls are still shopping, I'm in bed and loving it.
I bought 70 yds of Christmas fabric and 5 fleece throw kits so enough to keep me busy for awhile
Smilling as Rita said she would go to Joann's her and Darlene today and top me off with fabric so goodness knows what I will end up with.
Thunder, bet you think you've died and gone to heaven spending time with those sweeties, then add Kyle arriving, icing on the cake right!
Katie, mbeard and wig on its way
We got a touch of the ice but nothing like what you are getting in Canada. I am not to far north of the Massachusetts border and closer to the Atlantic Ocean than I was before. Plus I'm now in the river valley instead of up on the hills. Makes a big difference. We are due for rain changing to ice and then to snow tomorrow afternoon and night. It will be a bit difficult for those driving but should be over before daylight Monday....I so glad Norm will be home and not out...
We did a good house cleaning here today so we were busy most of the day. I have been doing a bit of crocheting to try to keep my fingers limbered. I started to sew the binding on my quilt that I made for my bed and the hands just kept cramping up. So I crochet a bit and then sew a bit. Passes the time! LOL
Hoping Dianne and Thea are safe. Both are on my mind.....
Hope you got good sale prices on all that fabric Betty.
Did, omg between $3 and $4 a yard for good quality cotton..always hard finding white tone on tone so bought 10 yards of it..the 72" fleece throw kits were on for $15
While the girls were shopping I cut one and did one, great pastime!
Glad no major problems with weather Barb and you got to enjoy your craft projects.
Not sure what those gals ordered for supper but bill $43. Must be hungry campers. Lol
Was gabbing with Sharon, arrangements were made for Jim to go to Bethal House on Wednesday..some New Years
Beautiful place though
http://www.bethellhospice.org/?page=residential_hospice
Looks like a wonderful place Betty. Will keep Jim and everyone in our prayers.
It looks like a lovely place Betty. Is it far from you?
Hope your trip home is safe. Great buys on the fabrics....
Looks like Thunder is getting lots of Grandma time.
Awwwwwwwwwww, splendiferous pics Thunder .. love the one with the baby in the bag !!
ENjoy your MOST precious family time ..
Was up and out early in MINUS 39F temps !!!! Went to the gym .. Lorna worked out,, but, no way would we swim, the wind was blowing towards the outside wall of the club, from the frigid west .. so .. we went for a bit of a shop then came home, roads are so slippery, salting them is useless at temps as cold as this .. so, sand is being put down for traction ... before the temps fell, 3inches of snow fell .. so that had to be cleaned up as well ..
Sure hope Betty had fair weather, but, I think the temps down her way are PLUS 39F .. talk about global warming !!!
On the lookout for firewood for our son .. his is dwindling quickly !
Best get a shake on ..
~M~
Evening all,
Girls were all shopped out, headed home around 11am after breakfast at Bob Evans
Stopped in Orangeville to visit with Jim..there was Sharon, with a pick breaking ice and crying.
She told mom this mornimg that Jim will be going to Bethel House Wednesday, of course she got how heartless she is, at least keep him over New Years Day, shaking my head..off she goes running into Jim's room and goes into a tantrum..Jm did not need to find out that way!! Doctor was going to explain things in the morning..we no sooner arrived did her hydro go out again..shaking and tears she just broke down.. We went to leave after visiting after a few hours , got just down the street and and a w a hydro truck, stopped and talked with the repairman, he said likely with what he saw with the lines it might be but a half hour..we turned around, went back, each grabbed a shovel, ice pick and worked a ridding some of the ice..am sure we are all hurting much the same now
I shall leave Tueday and spend the night and go to bethel House with her and Jim..
Sharon and my brother Mike made funeral arrangements yesterday
Want to comment on posts but taking me all my time to type, took meds and now can't hold my head up
Gab in a.m.
Get some sleep Betty. Bless you for all you do. Will keep all of you in my prayers.
Sending prayers of comfort tonight Betty for you and all your family. My heart is heavy knowing all you are going through especially at this time of year. Please know that Norm and I are holding you close with our prayers....Hugs and love,
Barb and Norm

A lurking soul dropping by to give you blessings of comfort during this time Betty.
I read you all everyday just have not been posting. You all are in my prayers and your terrible weather is in the back of my mind every day. I take the pups on a long walk every day and during that walk I have a long talk with Heavenly Father. Your country, our country and the world and your weather are mentioned daily.
Betty, my cousin's husband is dying of the same cancer. Cancer of the bile duct. They have been married since 1952. Got married right out of highschool. Her husband's name is Ray. So Jim and Ray are both in my prayers during my walk. I have also included Sharon because she is under so much stress. Maybe Sharon should give your mother some pain medicine to mellow her out.
Love you all. Hugs, Sharon
Hugs and Love to all of you, my dear, dear, dear friends..... new & old.
Just to bring you up to date, pleasantly, on my mom's condition. This email note from my sister who'd visited mom in the hospital today:
"Mom is amazing. She is so back to herself. She says she feels normal and except for bed head looks good. Michelle if you go up today could you please take a brush to do her hair. It is really bothering her that is so flat. Once she is stronger I will wash her hair. She had a bowl of oatmeal porridge, a boiled egg, orange juice and coffee for breakfast. Fed herself for the most part. Just need a bit of help holding the coffee. I got some Fixodent for her teeth and she talks louder and more clearly now that her teeth are solidly in her mouth. She isn’t at all confused now. Just remembers the bad dreams and told me about them. I never knew she could drive a bus!! I talked to both resident and her doctor. They still aren’t sure what caused her problem. Because they started treating her with antibiotics as soon as she got to St. B the spinal fluid may not clearly show an infection. It needs to be properly read by the experts. Same goes for the MRI. Should have that done tomorrow. They are going to stop the IV fluids as she is eating and drinking now. But will continue with the 3 antibiotics. Her white blood count is 4 and that is okay. They like it between 1 and 5. They have done blood work to check her heart as well. Will know much more tomorrow about all tests. The doctor thinks she will have a 2 week hospital stay and said she has 4 days under her belt already. She didn’t like that too much. I think she expected to be released and time now. He then said it will all depend on what the tests show. Thorvaldson has very strict criteria for her being discharged back there and the Dr. said they would not think of discharging her until it is safe. Then he laughed and told her they can’t afford to keep her for no reason. She is quite weak and he wants to see about getting her a walker and having her get some exercise to get her strong again. She liked that. Again a rule for getting her back to T’s. The way she is eating, that will help. After he left I talked to her about not going home too soon and maybe getting sick again and having to come back maybe even sicker. She could see the sense in that. Ruth, she was very happy you had sent an email to T’s to thank them for her care and also another one to let them know what is happening now. She said she really appreciates T’s. Can’t think of a better place to live. Her room is nice. She thought it is in the poor part of the hospital, but I explained it sure is not. I wish I had such a nice room last time I was in Hospital. She is in a one bed room with her own bathroom and a big window with the sun shining in. When she sits up she can look out to south/ east Tache. Very pleasant. Much nicer for visitors as well. "
Tache is a street just outside the hospital.
Morning everyone! Susan that is good news on your Mom!
Sharon, sorry to hear about Ray, will add him to our prayers!
It is a cool 35 this morning with winds from the North, and with that comes the pollen from the mountain cedar tree's.and it is making my allergies go nuts. I woke up coughing, so I took a swig of cough syrup, as soon as I can breathe again, I will go back to bed.
I'll include Ray in my prayers too.
Sorry about the allergies Linda. I have them too but since it is only about 15* here right now, they are leaving me alone! I'm grateful at times for the cold!!!! We have a wonderful skim of ice everywhere here this morning but we did miss the snow. Just five miles north from here, they got 3-4 inches and then it got deeper the further north you go... My brother got about 10 inches. It will be a fun day on the roads for Norm but he says he is not going anywhere until he knows the roads have been sanded.....
Morning all ... trying to remain positive at -42F
It isn't easy !
Susan, good news re your Mom .. I sure do pray she improves daily!
Sharon, so good to hear from you .. sad news re Ray .. I will be going to Hospice today to spend some time with my friend/colleague, Jewel, she too has cancer .. pancreatic and is losing her battle. Just hope she can be kept comfortable.
Mary, Debbie did a fab job on your Santa Warren present ! LOVE the scarf !!
Hoping Dianne is doing OK .. been awhile since she posted.
Betty, how are you feeling today ? I sure hope the frigid temps from the north don't spill down to you !
Almost (almost) forgot tomorrow night is NY Eve .. bought some munchies from M&Ms .. and, Beef Stroganoff has been requested for Jan. 1 supper ..
LindaK, allergies would be stopped dead in their tracks here !! Hope the cough medicine helped.
Barb, do so hope you and Norm are spared the snow .. 10" is way too much !
Lorna has blood work to be done, then off to Hospice, so, I best get at it ..
HUGS and happy thoughts for everyone
Toodles

Morning all
-8 right now, saw wrning on my screen saying 'snow squalls' .
Although its bitter cold and we did get an inch or so of snow I can't see we will be getting much, that being said weather can change within minutes..here is hoping not...
Susan, your sister's email must be giving you hooe that mom Is indeed back on the mend..a fighter for sure.
Sure wish there was news on Dianne, Debbie if you. Are lurking and have some could you post..I also get worried Debbie when you are quie that you are having a tme of it..know you are in my thoughts and prayers as well.
Sharon, feel for your family as well..we are both losing loved ones by that terrible 'c'. Only thing we can pray for is the lord not letting them suffer for much longer.
LindaKay, you've been down for a month or so, hard to shake..maybe another trip to the doctors. Know you must really be having a tme of it when you say it's back to bed for you.
Barb glad norm is staying out of harms way and waiting for the roads to be sanded...see they'd be just done ours early this a.m.
Ahhh Mary, can see you smilling from here..lovely pressies
Now how would someone know about your love of Disney characters. Lol
I can see that scared draped around your neck, you will be the ency of your office..are things settling in for you and lance and staff..now come the time when you will get staffing schedule more in tune with patrons.
"M" how right you were, we were shopping in Buffalo and didn't need out winter coats, this morning we are in the deep freeze.
Melanie visited last night for awhile, sure taking her time to beat the flu..they are going away tomorrow, 3 days in Detroit, have tickets for the outdoor hockey game..not sure who is playing this year..don't think it matters, this New Years Day outdoor game is a tradition..hope no storms.hooe she is up to it..bought her a few things in my travels Saturday..she loved her pandora charm with her initial..new craze, we had charm bracelets and they have pandora bracelets..managed to find a lot of gluten free products, she appreciated that.
Jeff was up Saturday and Sunday snowmobiling..had a great time..Kyle sold his snowmobile machine yesterday and bought a new one..likely he will drop in to tell me all about it.
Guess its off to organize the craft room, should take all day, clean, meditate, clean, do inventory!
Still have one cupboard unit to finish building
Now what are you all up to today?
Busy putting away the decorations for another year....My brother and his wife were here for coffee yesterday and as they looked around the room and remarked on things all they heard was "I made that!!" When we moved, I kept a few family things from my Mom and Norm's Mom and the rest went to my kids... I kept all the things I have made with Betty and that is what they were seeing!!! LOL Between mileage, gas prices and sickness this is the first time in years they have been at our home at Christmas time. It was fun showing off Betty!!! Thank you. They also fell in love with the stained glass wise men that Dianne sent to me. Against a white wall, they look beautiful. I'll try for a picture before I put them away....
Well TN is not warm but it sure is much less cold. My oldest son, DGD's dad, and the rest of his family decided to come down too. It was a surprise to the greats and as you can expect, it was pandemonium when we all arrived. He hadn't told his they were coming either until just before they left yesterday morning, then said for everyone to get dressed as they had more gifts to deliver. It's delightfully crowded here but all are having a good time.
Susan so glad to hear your mom is doing so much better.
So sorry I've been Mia. It's always sic a busy time here. We had 14 for dinner on Christmas. It was a lovely day. I have so enjoyed all your pictures of Christmas at your homes.
I am so sorry for all of you that are dealing with upcoming deaths at this time. It is hard enough dealing with them at any time, but at the holidays it is worse. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Been trying to get used to my new Christmas gift. This is an IPAD that I'm using. What fun!!!
Here's wishing you all warm weather, or at least warmer!
Can't believe the time..whose idea was it to organize the craft room..omg talk about disaster city..doubt if I work non-stop I will get it done this evening..lots gong to the garbage
Did a lot of heavy moving, luckily Ann dropped n for the last hour, what a Christmas she has had, heart gone out to her..
Ahhh Barb, you touched my heart keeping this workshop pieces and the high praise..hope you noted that Sean had many of the same pieces.
Karen, more the merrier right..can imagine the fun you are haing, much like Thinder is having with her grandkids..they are so adorable.
Waving Joyce, know you will love your iPad..glad it was a good Christmas for you.
Had a bite to eat, now time to get downstairs and try and finish my project
Been resting most of the day. Starting to develop a sore throat. Drinking hot lemon tea hoping that will help. If not I will go see the Dr tomorrow.
Sounds like you have been very busy. Sparkly buttons are pretty on the floor. Too bad you can't seal them with something to make it permanent.
Somewhat tidied up this area-photo 1
tomorrow morning will tidy up the stained glass area-photo 2
another to do tomorrow morning will be oiling the knitting machine..wish I had room for the other 2 - photo 3
girls are coming in the morning, I didn't realize it so have a bit more cleaning to do..too tired to do it tonight so off for a hot chocolate, maybe a few cookies and a good night sleep
worked hard so deserve to open a box of chocolates I got or black licorice
most of them Lindakay got swept into the garbage, no patience to do anything else with them but it is a creative idea you have..
sorry you've come down with a cold again, hard to rid yourself of one when you get another
Too bad we're not all closer to help your sort and help you remove items. Just as soon as your trash man leaves your going to say darn I needed that.
Likely I will Lindakay, always the way
Kyle dropped in, knew he would. Lol all excited re his snow machine..he's his father and grandfathers boy for sure.
Calling it a night
Night/night
Betty no way can you have too many pairs of scissors. I love and collect sissors. Everyone knows to not touch my scissors, I'm a real pain about that. I'm so bad, I bought my boys Gingher tiny trimmers of their own because they kept sneaking mine to trim their beards.
I had some wonderful button boxes some from my grandmother and hubby's grandmother. but when we moved I had to let them go, no longer had room for them.
Too Funny about the scissors... and sparkle buttons....
Sparkle or glitter is the "Gift that keeps on giving" or so we say...
Thanks M for the kind words...Yes Betty I am starting to think I can exhale now... not perfect but trying to get in a routine...
Congrats Kyle on the new mobile.... seems like just yesterday.... Joyce got Hubs an IPAD for christmas and he is on it quite a bit how are you liking yours...
Hoping Deb and Dianne come out to play.... love to hear from you all
(HUGS) For you Susan and your family.
M a special place in my heart for those with Pancreatic which took Mom. Crying last night as I sent Mom her Christmas card (donation to local dog charity with card).
The shop is doing okay... numbers not as great once you look at costs but I think I heard businesses lose money the first ??? 3 months? year?
The customers are mostly VERY happy and that is what counts. I wish I could quit and be there all the time but for some crazy reason.... Witchy poo has been very nice and all of a sudden giving me new accounts (THAT never happens!).
We'll be in a project 1/6-17 that will be very tough.
Hope I can get back on here more often now..
Happy New Year to all and (HUGS)
Mary
Hugs backatcha Mary, and, a very HAPPY NEW YEAR ^_^
This pancreatic cancer diagnosis for Jewel was in late Sept and, it has travelled fast ..
Sorry to hear about your Mom. Life can sure boot ya in the butt at times !
Speaking of 'butt boots' you wouldn't be doing that here this morning, at least not outside !
We are at MINUS 45 F .. unreal .. cars and trucks won't start even though they are plugged in .. and, we're going OUT!!
Need to top up the gas tank, visit Jewel, go to the gym and hit a grocery store ...
SO .. I best get on my way
OH .. Betty .. so many snowmachines (sleds) buzzing about out here, i shiver when I see them, but, the operators are dressed to the MAX !!!
Off n runnin
HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE DAY ~~~~~

-45? BRRRRRRR!!!! I would look out the window and say forget that!
I woke up with a sore throat and no voice this morning, so I will take a hot shower and see if I can get into urgent care when they open at 9. In the mean time, sitting here drinking hot lemon tea.
Morning all
Cold one and storming, sure hope it clears so Wei can drive to Orangeville.
June called last night and asked if ok the girls came today, of course, but with it being stormy doubt they will.
Dress warm "M" mare your temps usually this cold. I'm sure Jewel will be pleased to see you..
It's no wonder the cars don't want to start..don't most have block heaters..think I shall check my owners manual, my last one had it so likely this one does as well.
Mary, know how the memories of our loved ones resurface and the pain returns even after many years, sending you a big armwrap. As for the business am sure it takes time to build a clientele..most have spent their $$ Christmas shopping, housebound for a shortime but will soon be back and wanting a special treat at your shop..think they are right, a year or so will tell the tale.
Karen, LndaKay I'm glad I'm not the only one who seems to be collecting scissors lol
Oh my LindaKay..sure hope you get in to urgent care..be a quiet New Year's Eve for you and Todd.
Good morning, friends. It's chilly here but that still means above freezing so I'm not complaining. Much. Can't believe I grew up in Northern Michigan.
Guess I'm still recovering from Christmas. Not sick, just not much energy. With all the bugs that go around this time of year I am not pushing it.
The dogs are very good at helping me not to overdo. It does get a little crowded when all five of us are on the twin bed but it's nice and warm.
Part of the four lane road between San Diego and Ensenada fell into the Pacific Ocean the other day. Part of the whole geological thing that separated The Baja from mainland Mexico. Someday we will be an island.
I did work on the new garden for a while yesterday. Progress not perfection.
Looking forward to a quiet New Year's Eve. May cook the whole chicken that I have in the freezer.
Mary, hope you have a busy holiday.
Betty, as always my thoughts and prayers are with you and Sharon and your family. Such hard times for you and for Marilynne. We are all feeling blessed here.
Where is Dianne? Has anyone heard from her? I'm worried as I know others are, too.
Be safe everyone.
hugs, katie
afternoon all
Katie, does all the sinking of land not frighten you..what a brave woman you are braving all the elements you face daily.
just finishing supper to take to Sharon's, roads are terrible, alert is on but she's called about 5 times asking when I'm coming so guess it's a must that I go tonight even with the squawls..drats and more drats..
Pat and June just left, Pat taught June the fundamentals of her new machine, June was thrilled with what it does..as they gabbed I took mine out, sewed a few lines, changed it over for quilting and got it on the frame..perhaps this weekend I will attempt to quilt something
off to pack bags and finish supper that I'm taking with me
if I'm not on-line do enjoy your NewYears eve
