No elves here Jaye.
Susan sorry to hear about your Mother. Sending prayers for her as well.
Sweet Interruptions Christmas 275
i knew i should have stopped by at Cookies today :)
Susan sending you and your mom love and healing thoughts.
glad to hear everyone has had a nice holiday.
Tim gave me a Keurig coffee maker........ it makes one cup at a time......... is it me ? ......seems awfully silly to make one cup at a time.............. when i drink 4-5 cups. I just want to pour my coffee .. not have to wait to make another one ? ! ......and the thing is huge !!! where am i going to put it ? i have no room.....
i enjoyed the poem. good reading.
My mom's doing worse...... she didn't recognize my daughter, forgot that I was divorced from my 1st and remarried, that I live in Calgary now (wonder what she's making of the fact I'm not visiting....).
She accused my daughter of trying to confuse her with the dates...
My daughter, Michelle, did not have a good visit with her grandma...... nothing like the good visit she had with my two sisters. She was coherent then, but later - no.
sorry to hear she is not doing well Susan! Will keep her in our prayers!
thx LK....... I really appreciate the prayers for my mom
Sending my prayers too Susan. It is so hard when you are so far away. Sending prayers for you too.....
Morning everyone! Fresh coffee is ready!
No new reports on my mom, this am. no news is good news, right?
Good afternoon sistahs. Home for a sec and off I'll go OOT.
No news is good news, Susan. Seems your mother might have dementia. She'd be in and out as you can expect, I'm sure. But she's in a safe environment, and that's one relief for you I'm sure.
Awww Sue, you could return that coffee maker and get you a Bunn? I'm with you.. don't get me a one serving coffeemaker no matter how fancy it is! I tend to drink 3 cups in the morning!
Ok.. I'm gone.. catch you all later!
Sending prayers for your mom, Susan. It does sound like dementia to me too. At least she has help at all times. I'm thinking Darwin is going to drive me a little crazy. Always calling me to do something for him, or trying to argue with me about some unimportant thing. Right now he is laying down with his oxygen on. He went out to clean the driveway where the van is leaking some kind of fluid. He is trying so guess I should be thankful for that. That one cup coffee maker would be fine for me as I usually only drink one cup of coffee in the morning, but for the die hard coffee drinker I don't think it would be so handy. Still very warm out so I guess I should go out and soak some up.
if she has dementia, it just started Christmas morning and that doesn't sound right - she never did before.......
Just got an email from one of my sisters re: my mom:
"they took Mum up for an MRI. The results from the lumbar puncture showed abnormalities. they have her on 3 medications.
she is probably similar to yesterday afternoon/night - they have someone with her all the time to make sure she doesn’t pull out her IV, etc. she is still in Emerg, haven’t gotten a room for her yet. they leave when we are there, so we made sure we let them know that we were leaving when they took her away for the MRI. they put something in her IV to make sure she would be still when they did it.
she does stare up at the ceiling ahead of her, and think she is seeing people, and even talks to them - but it isn’t that bad because what and who she is seeing are making her happy. She sees her old house, with her mother. she talks to her, and rambles a bit about friends, a boyfriend (Dad?). she also responds to our conversation, and she ate lunch for Alice.
not the positive experience we had yesterday, but, who knows, that may return if they discover what the problem is, medicate properly, etc. or then again, maybe not. "
and then a person I know online said "maybe she's not thinking she sees these people - maybe she really sees them"....... is this person trying to tell me that my mom is "at death's door".... NOT what I needed to hear just now......... idiot!! Sorry, didn't tell her that - she's 21, and obviously doesn't think before she says something.......
Hope they find out soon what's going on.
yeah, abnormalities can mean just about anything.
She did fall a couple of times a couple of months ago, so they'd watched her in the seniors' care home a lot more than they did b4..... instead of every 2 hours, she had to leave her door open and they would check every half hour.
Now that she's in the hospital, they never leave her alone
Where is everyone?
I'm here LK. Still having mouth pain, and yes, I took some antibiotics for just in case. Heal whatever germs, but the pain is there.
And, I have been, taking care of a very sick cat. When Kel got her, she's at the brink of death months ago. She recovered, Vet said she's a miracle kitty and now, all of a sudden, she needs constant feeding.
Pedialyte, honey, Nutriical every hour via tube. She's not eating solids. I know, it's just a kitty, but that's us, want to give God's creatures a chance.
Got to tell you all something funny. This morning, Ida called and her panic voice can be heard over the phone when Kel answered her.
She swore that there's a helicopter that landed across our property and made Kel get out of the house to check it out. She said it sounds like a helicopter and she saw 'landing lights'.
We are surrounded by pine trees, no open field ahead of us.. so how could a helicopter land? The sound could be true, as nearby is a military base and our air space is shared by them!! But landing.. that's MIL for you.
Kel made me laugh when he lied that he saw the blackhawk and it was taking off.... just to shut her up. You cannot tell her any better as she'd just bring you down with her madness.
Anyway, Susan.. an old doctor once told my late father in law (Ex parent) that our body is like a circuit box. One wire not grounded, there we go off kilter, brains and movement especially when we're old!
We'll continue to pray for your mum and your family and that lady, I'm sure, she's not trying to upset you.
not much going on here.
Tim is home. He may be laid off for a few weeks... uhg :P until the weather is better.
i m going out on new years with out him. he is not a " go out and have fun kind of guy " so i will go with friends and have a wonderful time with them.
Can't wait for the Stanford game ! and the Rose Parade . love it.
Susan sending you love
looks like i have to keep the stupid coffee maker. Tim got a bit pissy when i made the remark about it only making one cup at a time....... Idiot..........im not bitter. LOL
Sue, that coffee maker might be a white elephant for now. But who knows, later when the desire to have just that one cup of coffee in the evening, Kreug would be ideal.
I'm looking forward to the Rose Bowl too. MSU's chance doesn't look too good.
So know now you have Blackhawk choppers landing in your forest! ;)
Sue you have a good time new years.
Oh LK. Kel is still laughing! Soon she'll start accusing the Arab owners of a local gas station of being Talibans :(
Troubles with a plugged toilet and it seems to plug up again in a day or two. So, I've been watching videos on unplugging them. DH wants to go over to Lowe's and get chemical cleaner but unless we can do it with the auger I just don't want to flush chemicals into the sewer. Now that I watched a few I may give it a try myself.
Watch out for those UFO's too!! Just hope she doesn't see any of those little green men around.
Those who plan on going out New Year's Eve have fun and be safe. We prefer to stay home. It was a different story when I was young and single, just memories now.
How about a new room Jaye?
Pegi, hope you get the toilet fixed soon!
Hello all. Thanks for the invite Jaye. Been a busy weekend I had to work. We have a rotating weekend. I work tuesday then im off for 6 days. It is very cold here tonight. Saturday was so nice, sunny. Today I walked out of work and bbbrrr. The wind is whipping. Really enjoying my son being home. He has to leave soon.. he has two fish tanks in his tiny barrocks room, I went and bought a small tank last night. Now I have to get some fishies.. looking forward to it. Kinda wish I wouldve gotten a little bit bigger one.
news re: my mom, from my sister who went up to the hospital today:
"Mom is amazing. She is so back to herself. She says she feels normal and except for bed head looks good. Michelle if you go up today could you please take a brush to do her hair. It is really bothering her that is so flat. Once she is stronger I will wash her hair. She had a bowl of oatmeal porridge, a boiled egg, orange juice and coffee for breakfast. Fed herself for the most part. Just need a bit of help holding the coffee. I got some Fixodent for her teeth and she talks louder and more clearly now that her teeth are solidly in her mouth. She isn’t at all confused now. Just remembers the bad dreams and told me about them. I never knew she could drive a bus!! I talked to both resident and her doctor. They still aren’t sure what caused her problem. Because they started treating her with antibiotics as soon as she got to St. B the spinal fluid may not clearly show an infection. It needs to be properly read by the experts. Same goes for the MRI. Should have that done tomorrow. They are going to stop the IV fluids as she is eating and drinking now. But will continue with the 3 antibiotics. Her white blood count is 4 and that is okay. They like it between 1 and 5. They have done blood work to check her heart as well. Will know much more tomorrow about all tests. The doctor thinks she will have a 2 week hospital stay and said she has 4 days under her belt already. She didn’t like that too much. I think she expected to be released and time now. He then said it will all depend on what the tests show. Thorvaldson has very strict criteria for her being discharged back there and the Dr. said they would not think of discharging her until it is safe. Then he laughed and told her they can’t afford to keep her for no reason. She is quite weak and he wants to see about getting her a walker and having her get some exercise to get her strong again. She liked that. Again a rule for getting her back to T’s. The way she is eating, that will help. After he left I talked to her about not going home too soon and maybe getting sick again and having to come back maybe even sicker. She could see the sense in that. Ruth, she was very happy you had sent an email to T’s to thank them for her care and also another one to let them know what is happening now. She said she really appreciates T’s. Can’t think of a better place to live. Her room is nice. She thought it is in the poor part of the hospital, but I explained it sure is not. I wish I had such a nice room last time I was in Hospital. She is in a one bed room with her own bathroom and a big window with the sun shining in. When she sits up she can look out to south/ east Tache. Very pleasant. Much nicer for visitors as well. "
Tache is the street right outside the hospital - very picturesque
That's encouraging. I know you are relieved.
Hi Ronna. :)
Morning everyone. Susan that is great news about your Mom! Will keep her in our prayers!
Ronna, glad you joined us!
It is a cool 35 this morning with winds from the North, and with that comes the pollen from the mountain cedar tree's.and it is making my allergies go nuts. I woke up coughing, so I took a swig of cough syrup, as soon as I can breathe again, I will go back to bed.

The news sounds great Susan. Maybe you can relax a bit now. It sounds like your Mom is in good hands and that she is being well cared for.....
Morning all.. Thanks Linda. Seems like you are a very busy lady here on Daves. I like different chats too. Hello cville nice to see you here too.
Susan sounds lime your mom is doing great. Good for her. I have seen many great things happen in a hospital. I work in a small hospital here in Plainwell. Sounds like she is in the best place for her right now. Prayers for her.
it is very cold here again for us too. 17 this morning. Even got some fresh snow! Oh yippie skippy. (Just kidding). I have been looking on hallsons site for some nice plants for tne yard.... Spring fever going on in my brain. Almost the new year.
Susan, I'm so happy your Mom is doing better! Well, here we are girls, almost another year to put behind us!!!
Hope you all have a beautiful day,
That's very good news Susan. Your mother's recovery will be helped tremendously by her environment too. Positive caring staff and a view that she can enjoy
Prayers still going for her, dear Susan.
Welcome, welcome Ronna! You will fit in nicely here since you'd be having fishies!! Three of us.. Carole (cville), Cookie (JoyceT) and me, now know where to look for kitty food!! Lolol!!
How many gallon tank did you buy.
Pegi, did you get your toilet unplugged? You must have some muscle gal.
LK, it's 60 here. Poor you and your allergies. Hope you'd sleep them off. Ever try drinking spiced teas to help with your sinuses?
Okay, I'm blessed with warm weather now, but I do think of my 'snow' state sistahs. I know it sounds like a cookie cutter statement, but please sistahs.. avoid the cold if you can. Am wondering too if you're getting flu and pneumonia shots. To some, they're a necessity especially if you have health issues like me.
I'll do a new room later this evening. Kel needs the pc and says the android is 'acting' up on him.
Later sistahs.
I have lemon and peppermint here. Need to go find a good spiced tea.
I found a really good tea called cinnamon spice. It is so good. My husband says it smells like Christmas! It is really cinnominy. Well my fish take is very small for a srarter. Only 5 gallons. I know you are laughing at me. But we have a very small house. We had to move like four things even before we could put it in the living room! But I will enjoy it.
my son has a 45 gallon salt water tank. Would love to see it.
Not laughing at you Ronna. It's a good start for a fish. I have a 30 gallon tank sitting in Kel's workshop, collecting dust. With so many cats, it would be a wise idea to turn that tank into a terrarium one day.
I make my own 'chai' or spiced tea. My sister sent me much needed spices like cardamon for my tea. Lipton's make excellent spiced tea bags too..
Come on over sistahs. Share some secrets with us!!
