Fa la la la la...la la la laaaaa ♪♪♫♫ very nice !!! Ho ho HO !!1
Wow the packages are so pretty. I am not a quilter but sure do marvel at the beautiful works. Must take lots of patience. Where is the santa warren thread?? Is it in the quilters thread. Why is it called that? Just wondering. Lol. Sounds intreging. I need something to keep me busy for the winter... I used to do counted cross stitch but havent done it in years now. I just get so bored in the winter. I am a spring to summer goer. And goer. Winter is pretty long.
Crissy I sure hope the arm is okay. Im sure there is much pain. Yeowee.
anyone know. Can fudge be fozen? All the recipes make so much and we will never eat it all before it goes bad. Well have a great week ladies and gentlemen.
The Santa Warren Christmas exchange was so named because of Dianne's DH Warren, who has since passed away.
Previously, we'd had a Gift Exchange just between us. Warren took a great interest in the exchange,
and we started to call him Santa Warren.
Then when he got very ill, we named it that, and it perked him up a lot. When he passed away, Dianne said she'd like to keep the name, and so it continues :-)
There is no specific thread for the exchange - it's loosely "housed" in this thread. We do have a "likes/dislikes" thread, but at the moment, I'm not sure where it is lol
We start joining the Exchange in Oct. By November "secret buddies" are chosen by whoever is the organizer that year (always Dianne now?), and then the packages are mailed out by Dec 1st.
Very well explained Susan!
We know Santa Warren is watching as pressies arrive and smiles as each recipient opens their box of goodies..as always we thank Dianne for letting us share Santa Warren....
Got up for toast, nauseated and in bed before 6pm..Rita and I chatted for a bit and it's now time to head back to bed.
Sorry your not feeling well. Hope your feeling better soon!
Think it's the meds.
Wing is just a howling..guess who is hoping for a Snowday tomorrow?
Advisory on for tonight so much will be cleared by morning.
Thank you, Betty. I know anyone coming into our chat would be wondering, and I'm glad that the question was asked :-)
Tonight, at the Church Board meeting, it was suggested that we do a Silent Auction. I think it's a great fundraiser...... The one who brought the idea, also brought a baby blanket, and a cross-stitched box made of plastic canvas. It was very well done! Rather than putting our names on the clipboard, to put in a bid, we'll use our donation envelope #s. This way it's really a "secret" lol
I have a friend that I've met on an online gaming site (Dragons of Atlantis), that I've invited to join our chat. Her name is Susan Luttrell, and I really hope she joins us. She's from Georgia, AL
Hope she joins us Susan. Anyone is welcome here.
Welcome Susan (from Georgia) know you're not here yet, but that doesn't really matter, it's the thought that counts ^_^
Well .. we had the 'Operation Santa' meeting last night .. myself (Mrs Santa), my son (Santa) the woman who has put it together (she'll be a reindeer, and her daughter (an Elf)
Susan, the arranger, works in a mine a few hundred miles north of Thnder Bay, called Musselwhite. It's underground mining, you work a week or 2 in, then, a week or 2 out .. anyway, she said she wanted to get together a group to visit the children on the Pediatric ward at our local hospital, bring them gifts, on Xmas Eve .. by the end of a few days, she had $7200.00 in donations, as well as donations of toys from local merchants .. this is now 'snowballing' .. as it now stands, we will be at the hosp on Dec. 24 at 1pm, initially it had been 6pm, but, the kids on the unti are usually starting to settle in to sleep then ..plus, many of the day staff throughout the hospital want to see Santa (skinny as he is now) .. all in all, I'm getting pretty excited !
No doubt, there will be LOTS of pictures as the local paper and the TV station will be there .. gads, I think I best get a wig .. my hair is just NOT curly enough !!
C O L D here .. -22F
Having my nails done this morning, then off to the gym to help Lorna work out .. MAYBE a swim, but, the chlorine is taking a toll on my skin !
Betty, you're starting to sound like I did at this time last year .. toast was my best friend .. comfort food !! I do so hope you start to feel better .. by any chance did your doc put you on Prednisone?
Susan, good luck with the silent auction, great fundraiser.
Best get a shuffle on
Toodles

Morning,
Pre-welcome to Susan from Georgia..yep, open door here, all welcome.
"M" sounds like so much fun..sure do miss Christmas Eve festivities that Roger and I used to do..big part of what I miss..
squawls in the area but not my area lol
Just called Sharon, Jim had a terrible night, mega pain, she's calling the nurse to come in today..mom, well she's in going nuts and difficult to handle. Wants to give Jim more meds, thank God he isn't at home with her as she'd overdose him for sure..
Pardon my way of thinking, but that might not be so bad, watching someone die over a long period of time is HELL ..we treat our animals more kindly don't we.
I sure understand your thinking Betty, Hell is watching someone you love suffer great pain.
I also agree Betty. It is probably one of the worst experiences I have had....watching knowing there was nothing I could do but hold his hand and tell him I loved him.
Hope you are feeling better soon.
Morning,
Betty sending hugs and prayers for Jim, Sharon & you...and family. Your mom is just feeling helpless, and with her issues it just is getting blown up more. Is Jim on liquid morphine? That is what mom was on....did wonders.
Also, Betty you received a large box...was on front porch last night. WIll open and take pics for you after my coffee.
Waving and good morning to all. Getting a few snow flurries here...but nothing much so far. Just cold.
Waving to all....Decorating our tree...it is a REAL one for first time in many years...wish cats would leave it alone!!! Can't wait to put my new ornaments on it!!!
Debbie
Am sure each and everyone of you have gone through that experience...watching Roger although 21 years ago this New Year's day he lost his battle with life (seems like yesterday) still hurts like the dickens..heart goes out to you all, this time of year is difficult, almost unbearable..if no cancer cure found then make things easier for the dying...Sharon Debbie is giving him morphine needles and some pain meds..she is hoping the nurse on his home care will drop in today.
Mom is headed to the cottage for a few things..weather not the best in cottage country, slap me good, thinking if she got snowed in for 1 or 2 days what a blessing for Sharon and Jim! Devil will get me for that one.
Ooooh Debbie, anxious to see if it's Santa Warren pressie, or Warm and toasty pressie..hurry/hurry!!! lol
I bought some 'pine' tree icicles..would love a real tree, perhaps next year, but with these pine icicles sure smells like it's real.
Talked to Sharon re my going to Florida, she said if things were reversed (even though I committed to bringing Rita to Florida) that she definately would NOT go!! That's just the kind of person she is..hmmm guess I'm being selfish so guess I'm staying home
moved us over...
come join in
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1344028/
Rita should certainly understand the circumstances now Betty. I would not want to leave myself either. Especially to be there for Sharon if no one else.... Keeping you all in my prayers....
NOT Rita, it's me torn between going and staying
Betty, you know I love you Bessie Lou....but this is the time you need to say NO....and stay home.
Not just for Jim and Sharon, which really really need you....but for your health.
There will be other trips....but right now, you need to get you...and family to where they
need and support. Especially this time of year.
Yell at me later...is OK...but, you need to stay put. Said with love and sisterly advice.
I know, I'm truly being selfish, guess it was the cruise that was planned as a christmas gift for me, a stop at Joyce's, a night at Opryland Hotel..just so much going on, I just wanted to run away from it all.. but like mom, it's not about me right?
'Betty if it was ANY other circumstance....I think it could be overlooked. But not this one.
If Jim passes in next week or so...maybe can reconsider, but right now, don't think is advisable.
And even then, Sharon will need you to deal with Mom.
AND....you don't want to hear "you left me when I needed you most" from either Sharon or mom. Will haunt you for life with that.
Words of wisdom..yes, I know it's the thing to do!
Betty, no one here would blame you for wanting to get away but, like others say, and as you know, this is not a time when you can leave. And knowing you, you would never forgive yourself if you did. But, please, do what you can to plan for after. How about a vacation in Mexico? You would be so welcome here.
I'm dealing with ankle pain. stomach upset, inconsiderate neighbor and pre-Christmas angst. I think I may have damaged the ankle tendon in the accident. There is still some swelling on the left side and some pain. Not a lot but I'm tired of it and would like a vacation from having to deal with it. The stomach upset may be due to insect bites so I'm vacuuming, spraying and doing laundry.
Did one of my "i'd rather put it off" things yesterday, talking to Tony about the upcoming part for his daughter who will turn 15 in April. This a big deal for girls here and Fely, Tony's wife, is going all out to the dismay of some of us. Fely has been soliciting donations in amounts of $500 or more. She came to me Sunday and asked for fabric which is no problem. She also wanted to know when I'd be making a trip to Ca. I reminded her I don't have a car!! duh.
Fortunately, Tony is on the same page with me. We want Barbara to pay attention to continuing her education, hopefully going to college and having a profession in which she can be self-supporting before she has a bunch of babies, etc.
Nothing like trying to do an intervention on a culture. Tony and I talked a lot, about Fely's upbringing, about that of many American women vs. Mexican and what choices can be made. The good news is that tony is with me on this and his daughter is very smart and capable.
My suggestion is to encourage Barbara (daughter) to think of this as a stepping stone in her life, not the biggest deal ever after which everything else is an anticlimax.
Meanwhile, I am back to the insect wars.
hugs, katie
Tough choices Betty, but, you're wise to stay home, 'in case' , as Debbie says, for Sharon's sake for sure, and, you as well .. if you're home your better off re health care for yourself ..
Watching someone passover is tough, I have been at bedside many many times, but, I have always felt blessed to hold their hand, and help them on their next journey.
Is Jim on 'sedation', morphine or dilaudid are one thing, but, a dose of an anti anxiety medication is a god's send .. we use, nozinan or ativan along with the pain relief.
Gadzooks is it cold here .. got the nails done, went to the gym .. and have a chill going on BIGTIME !!! The thought of going for a swim nauseated me !! So, we'll save that for Thursday.
Tomorrow, Gord and I go out and about .. always seems I'm done, and KAPUT, something else needs to be purchased .. ahh well .. it'll be a nice day to just be together, although, whereas I am a POP IN here and there shopper, DH is a 'stick to a route' typa guy ! One thing we agree on is FINN PANCAKES for breakfast at a well known Finnish restaurant, so yummy, but it'll sit on the tummy LoL
HUGE hugs for everyone ..
Toodles
~M~
Katie, you need to check that ankle out, and get proper treatment. What happened for the accident? Did someone hit you?
