7th annual DG Christmas Workshop..now elves need to get busy

Ocean Springs, MS

Karen, he is awesome! I love it! I'm almost done except the signs and putting him together! Think I'm gonna steal your snowflake idea for the green patch! : )

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Awww thanks, you are most welcome to steal it. LOL

in Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

You did a awesome job on your snowman Siliolegma . He is so cute.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Karen !!! your snowman is wonderful!! I have not worked on mine yet, but I have been watching along...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Sitting here with coffee in hand, Christmas tree bright as it rotates and gives me a view of cherish ornaments, fireplace aglow, now all I need to make the perfect day is seeing more of your snowmen!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

No Sean yet Betty and I will wait until I can have him here. I may ask Mom if he can play hookey one day from school. She works nearby and could bring him to me in the AM and then pick him up when she gets out of work...

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Thanks T & Patty, He kind of grows on me since I'm no longer "nose to nose" with him. I'll take him down state with me and the first who says Awww isn't he cute..wins.

Been making a few of those 3 D paper snowflakes too. Not at all hard, directions on you tube. I used foil Christmas wrapping paper and cut my square 4" and that is plenty big could even be 3". Pretty to hang in a window.

He is adorable Liz..glad you had a checkerboard stencil helped with the hat..I didn't mention it because I didn't want anybody rushing out buying one

If you have any kind of stencil, please use it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am keeping this one, but have traced the pattern to make more for gifts.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Quick when you are making several, while paint is drying on one you just move over to the next!

Ocean Springs, MS

Gonna post a picture of my snowman soon. Just been busy with other things!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Thanks Liz, I made a cloth scarf because I knew without a doubt that I couldn't paint one. This was fun but really I don't have artistic ability at all.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not so Karen, love the creativity you had doing your project.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I think you have a lot more creativity than you think you do Karen. I just love your snowman!!!

I may make a scarf for Sean to use instead of painting one. Our time will be limited because of a pending snowstorm here over the weekend. That will help with cutting the time down. And also a simple hatband may be in order as well.....Any other time saving thoughts anyone?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sounds good Barb..maybe if you base oat the snowman and signs??

You could do same with yours as well as not to offend Sean, could say they arrived that way in the kit..likely he wants to do it all by himself but that would lead you right into the next step

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Geeze Barb, I wish I had thought of doing a hat band too.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I love the painted one you did Karen. I thought you did a great job on it.....

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Thanks Barb, it's the old nose to nose with it thing. I really do like it and had fun making it, but I will give it away as I have no storage room. I'll still be able to see it every year, Where ever it goes.

Geeze DGD just sent me yet another picture of a wedding dress she wants me to make one like.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That's an honor for sure being asked to make a wedding dress...I was about 23 when SIL who had no $$$ (came from a millionaire family but disowned if she married my brother) so I made the dress..was quite exciting as I remember.

Would you do another project with us Karen? Or did you find it too confusing

Finally sun is shinning..oh happy days

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I've made most of the family wedding & bridesmaids dresses. For oldest DD was 10 gowns as we had 4 flower girls,. There were 4 little girls in the family so.....

I wasn't confused at all Betty, your directions were very clear, I frustrate myself, because I wish I was able to paint. I go over and over fixing stuff because to me it looks all wrong. Yes I would do it again and probably gripe and moan the whole time.....again. LOL

We have sun at the moment but snowing earlier and most likely will some more as that is forecast for foreseeable future. Terrible cold too.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Today Im going to do shading in smoosh and move onto the mittens.

Betty as usual, you've done an outstanding job on the instruction, Thank you for all the time you are giving is to create such a fun and beautiful treasure! THIS one I am going to date, should have and will all the others!

In your Christmas hustle and bustle thread, think you forgot to mention the melting snaow man!

Oh yes!! Liz...I did find the lamp shade betty sent! And yep had to take everything out again but thought it was so fun and very quick.lol all i need is one of those battery lights and it will be complete...
Also, did you make that standing snowman in the background?

Oh yeah, Betty also the the tomato cage snowmen I don't recall reading either, lol.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Love your wineglass Judy. Great job
and your snowman is coming along great too. Before you go too much farther do you think you want to bring the snow up a bit higher towards the hat? The hat curves and yours looks like it will go straight across!!! Just a thought here......
