Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Mary, good to hear from you.
Sounds as though things are coming together for you ..

Dianne, I think your Christmas gift sounds PERFECT !!! OH to be able to pop a home cooked meal in the oven after a busy day.

I have been having the hardest time getting to, and STAYING asleep. This time of year really gets to me .. seems the body is willing to sleep, but, the mind won't shut off !

Gonna water the house plants ..

(((((big, gentle, warm hugs for those in need)))))))
oh, and those (((((((solid hugs))))))) for those who can take 'em!!
So much heartache....... I wish I could just pray it away...... but I'm trying.....!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

And your prayers are so appreciated Susan. We all need them I think - I'll take some gentle ones please....
Having Sean over today - we may not do the project today though. All my paints are in storage and Norm is now on his way to upper Vermont for his job. We will do it another day.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

I guess it's 'officially morning' now.
The sun is up, and Jack Frost has been a busy lil dickens .. in other words, it's COLD.
Maybe that's why I couldn't sleep last night, altho, the house is warm with the woodstove going.

Hugs and prayers are never unappreciated Susan. Seems that quite a few of us are in need.
Mine are intermingled with yours and given free of charge and, with the best intentions.

Lorna goes for her 'assessment' at the health club today .. lordy, it's a full assessment, then and ONLY then will she start on her program. I'll swim with her, but, decided that I am too 'fragile' right now to attempt all those machines, but, I can follow along with Lorna and hold her canes, or, help her on and off the equipment. Getting her in and out of the pool will be the challenge .. but, we'll meet it head on and figger it out.

BLACK FRIDAY shopping here .. not for me though .. I think it's all hype anyway .. hope anyone doing it has success though ..
I like to SLOW shop, out of the crowds way.

How ya doin today Betty?
Hope you're feeling better ..

Off to watch the dogs roll in the snow .. it's 5F so that won't last long!

Morning all, wrote a long post at 5a.m. Just about to press send and iPad directed me to another site, poof, gone..wasn't happy. Lol

So will start again

Extremely cold, had snow last night, winter wonderland out there, the kind of day that as the sun shines everything looks as though it's covered in diamonds. Picture perfect for sure.

Mary, what great news, will take you a bit to know when peak hours are, add in festive season shoppers that I am not sure how you will manage getting it right..guess you do the best staffing and wait till New Year to keep a closer eye on what your needs will be. Imagine you being excited about doing dishes..so funny!

Susan, I so appreciate the prayers and hugs, yep sure do need them...sending some your way as well..now you've got me hungry for turkey..won't be as brave as you but will stop at Walmart and pick up a turkey stuffed roll..love them. Is Bob working?

Dianne, what a fabulous idea..they will be overwhelmed by your kindness..nothing like a gift that comes from the heart. Do you also have my winter wonderland? Plowman has been, should have rushed out to pay him for the season but wasn't that ambitious. Have to go find him this weekend.

Barb, perhaps you and Sean can do the wine glass lampshade as a pre project
Think he'd enjoy that

"M" glad you decided on not pushing forward re fitness..best of luck to Lorna but my dear must take it easy..maybe when winter is getting to you in March you can start and be fit for spring gardening

LindaKay, you feeling any better..bet you have that pooch laying right beside you. (grin)

Debbie, any update on Shannon?

I did my 'black Friday' shopping..called the fabric shop in Barrie and bought the Janome 1600p qc. Machine..early Christmas present for ME..each year being alne I like to have a pressie that I think Roger might have said 'go get it'. Well this morning as I hymmed and hawed, should I shouldn't I I heard him say 'go get it'

Now I have a room full of sewing machines..am excited though if it works on the grace frame like they say it will

Have to go to Barrie this afternoon to get it..off at 3:00 so will be there for 4:00

Know I will want to play with it tomorrow but am driving Jim's sister to the hospital to visit with him..lots of time later..have Sunday free

Well back to dusting/vacuuming and washing floors..if I don't get at it there will be no playing Sunday

Any of you considering gong out shopping today? Listened to breakfast television..they people they were interviewing we're excited about the massive sales and no one-ups

Will ask Rita if she wants to drive to Barrie with me this afternoon, go out for supper and maybe shops a bit..need a gift item for the grandsons..their major gift is in the form of paper, snowmobile passes, factory rec for dirt bike goodies, MED for camping..need something to open and ohh/ahhh about.

Forgot, had a question about a Christmas gift

You know I made mom a double sized quilt in black/white and shams she kept hinting about and went on and on when she saw the one I did for Melanie saying she only gets leftovers, meanwhile there it was wrapped for Xmas

Now that Jim is not doing well, that mom will be selling house and cottage, already has a doz or so quilts she made and with downsizing not sure what she would do with it..should I find something more practical or give it to her..likely at some point she would give it back to me

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Go to the top of the page and click on Guides and info. Then on the right side of next page click on the extras tab. That will take you to the address exchange on the left side of the next page.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty I would go ahead and give her the quilt.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I would too Betty, I'm guessing she will have a sour remark about it but go with your original intent and tell her it was done long ago. If she gives it back, so be it, enjoy yourself or re-gift to someone who will. I'm sorry if it sounds mean but some people you cannot please no matter what and I'm thinking that nothing you give her at this point will be well received.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will give it to her

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - I'm taking the return would be that, like my mom, she'd forget who even gave it to her, or in the downsizing yet again, she give it back to you?

Now I 'm looking forward to turkey, nice it was your Thanksgiving Day yesterday, all you " 'mericuns" lol
This is a turkey that our Church "overbought" for one of their dinners, and sold to anyone who wanted, at cost - $10 for a 17 lb'er. We'll have some as leftovers, naturally, but next Thursday is the monthly "drop in center" delivery from our Church, and Bob & I do the deliveries of sandwiches for the homeless, care of the Church. I guess I'll have a lot of Turkey sandwiches to add to what the good people of the Church give to us to deliver to them.

Always don't God's work Susan..here is hoping your name comes up in his good deed book soon so you too can be blessed!

Sun is absolutely gorgeous, took a break and while sitting here I close my eyes, feel the heat and think I'm on a Florida beach

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Spent some time reading and catching up....True that we are not given more than we can handle....but sometimes I think we don't have faith in ourselves and our ability to cope...

Good thoughts, prayers and hugs for each of you... You are all in my thoughts daily.

Sadly, my FIL passed away from hypovolemic cardiac arrest on the 17th. He was 88.
Things have been very unsettled and we have made many trips between home and Thibodaux where the in-laws live.

This is my DD's tribute to him.

"Be as good as you can, as often as you can".
My Papa Buddy was a man of few words like so many of his generation were. But, when he did speak we all listened. He was a tough guy, and while I didn't always agree with his political views or his intense dislike of cats, I will miss him dearly.
He was a hard worker, an excellent teacher, a WW2 veteran and my Dad's Daddy. I am so thankful I got to see him recently and that my kids got to meet him.

So am I....

Victoria Harbour, ON

My condolences on the loss of you FIL' difficult time for sure. Love the memorial words Jean..he will be missed but his love still with you all.

How are you doing, think of you often and always add you to my prayers!

Susan,Dianne and "m", not sure if it's just Ontario but new law as of Thursday that it's mandatory to have carbon monoxide detectors in the home..going to Canadian Tire after I pick up my machine, hoping they have them and I find them on sale...had one at the farm, not sure what I did with it

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Good to see you posting Jean. I have been thinking of you a lots lately. What a beautiful tribute to a grandfather. Tears are trickling down my face........

Unfortunately Kim and I need to make a trip into town....I had so hoped not to have to deal with all the Black Friday insanity but her computer is ready and it will make her preps for work on Monday so much easier than what she is doing now. So Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's into insanity we go..................

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sending my deepest condolences Jean. Sounds like he was a wonderful person. I love the wisdom.....
Also glad to hear you are doing well. Always in my prayers...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear of your FIL passing Jean. Sending lots of prayers your way.
Betty check wuth your fire dept. Some big cities here give them and smoke detector free.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will do,

Had a big list of things to do in Barrie, traffic at a dead stop re Black Friday sales..

Did (big grin) make my way to the fabric and brought home that quilting machine..
Kind of laughed, she said she had something for me because of the purchase.. A goodie box, printed value $259.00. Hmmm how come for free, said a gift for you..get suspicious when someone gives you something for free

That being said, here I am with 4 machines, Rita starting to sew, I bought her a reconditioned one, she doesn't know it yet, had Michelle at the shop ask if I wanted to take Suzanne's machine home to her, I said yes, Rita didn't get suspicious..it's an older metal model, but comes with a warrantee

We just ordered chicken souvlaki next door, we'll eat, get organized in the sewing room then I will tell her to see with her own machine..

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

You have to be one of the most generous people I know Miss Betty. Can't wait to hear her reaction!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Betty she is going to be so happy.
So what was the free box?
Post a picture of your machine too please?

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'll never be rich. Lol.
What to heck, it comes back twofold

When I quit doing what I'm doing now for play money I spend it, when I no longer do it, I will tighten up the purse strings then likely will be penny pitching

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Congratulations Debbie....I know your heart is singing. Glad you got to talk to Shane. Hugs and grins for the Grandma to be.

Thank you all for your kind words of sympathy and concern. Betty, please know Jim is in our thoughts here.

Lyndonville, NY

Jean, thank you. My heart is happy, yet confused. Apparently everyone knew but us.

I am so sorry for your families loss. So hard this time of year...any time, but the holidays leave
such deep hurt.

Debbie, omg/omg doing happy dance..you will be a grandma..see that, Lord listened to your prayers, well perhaps the kids had something to do with it..I am ever so pleased..can't even imagine the high you are on grandma!!!!

Debbie, mouth watering here..sure did have lots to be thankful for..gabbing with Shane and then the news..how is she feeling..

the child, what can I say..

Jean, thank you, prayers are certainly needed

Friday night, thought I'd get an early bed time but not..Melanie came, enjoys Rita's company and all are sewing..tonight Mel's finishing a rag quilt, Rita just finished hers, now on to her placemats, me I'm just excited about the new machine and laughing, think I have more machines here than the fabric shop lol

Photo1:Rita is sewing on her machine, loves it and was soooo excited, thought she was sewing on Suzanne's when I repeated, no this one's yours..pressie from Mrs. Claus

Photo 2:Husqvarna machine just spoke to me, said she was working A-1 and why now that she's sewing properly am I putting her to bed???

Did you ever ask yourselves how you can get into trouble trying to be nice..

war going on..

I hadn't met even after 43 years Jim's sisters nor his brother..whenever they got together guess we were busy or never got invited, seems odd now but regardless I've not met them..

you might remember that Tuesday when I was at the hospital I asked Jim knowing that his sister lives in Barrie and doesn't drive if he'd like me to pick her up..he said he'd love that..ok I called her, introduced myself and said I'd pick her up Saturday morning at 8pm

Mom call all upset, guess another sister (who drives) lives about 40 miles south of Barrie, really on my way to the hospital..she and her sister got into it, why was one asked and not the other..the ones not invited hung up on her sister 3 times..mom was going to call her and see if she'd like me to pick her up..drats

then mom asked me to pick her up, 1/2 hr. further to pick her up and drive her home because Kim and Mike are at the cottage cleaning up and winterizing for she and Jim

so what was suppose to be a simple ride to the hospital, doing a good deed everything got screwed up and a lot of bad feelings

Betty, that is horrible! And you just trying to help! This just brings out stress in families.

I can see Debbie the reason for not telling you..didn't want to get your hopes up and then something happen.

Congrats Debbie. I would be upset too being the last to be told.

Love your new machine Betty.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lyndonville, NY

Thank you, I just needed that validated in my mind....because that was what I thought too!

Well, six hours....and SHannon is still in the ER. Waiting for results from blood work, chest xray and ultrasounds. We might sleep in tomorrow.

Baton Rouge, LA

Deb they knew that it was an ultra sensitive subject for you but now that you know I am dancing the happy dance for you !

Jean - Many prayers headed your way very sad... beautiful thing DD said though...

Santa Warren pressie can't go out yet... will have to be Monday.

Today was great but we were $100 short in the register so hoping it was something OTHER than one of our awesome new employee's taking out cash...
Already love them all so hate thinking that they would do this to us....Surely there's another reason (like that DH can't count LOL)

Hugs
Mary
