Best/Worse/What did I learn today,chat with friends old/&new
Thanks for asking "M"' Mom is going through a terrible time right now, more test on
Jim, headaches they say today are from a growth on the brain..they've rushed his appt with specialist to Tuesday, thank goodness.
She cancelled her surgery Tuesday, says Jim comes first, her's is not life threatening.
Dianne there was a lovely booth today with stained glass, thought of you. I especially like how they incorporate family heirlooms into them now.
Sending prayers for Jim.
Morning everyone. How are you feeling today Betty?
Movng slowly
I am not able to close in back deck, Rita called her brother an hour's drive away, they are coming around 11 and he and Rita will do the work, I'm only to supervise
Made a decision, although I was making great headway with the hockey quilts, in a work tote the two will go, if it doesn't get done for Christmas, oh well, can give it later
Rita will take out the equipment I need to drill our workshop pieces..I cam sit and so that even if I do it over the next 10 hours, slow but sure then tonight she will help me package them
Have all week but just incase I'm in bed at 5:30 every night or something comes up re Jim then they can still be mailed out as planned, that will entertain me...
As Mel's uncle died they are all going to viewing today and will stay till funeral so Kyle,Greg,Noah will be out of town, had thought they could give me a hand but not to be
As for the gazebo top, that could have been removed today but it's pouring rain, can't put it in storage wet
Slowly but surely weekend work will get done
And you, what are you up to?
Glad to hear your getting help doing the heavy stuff.
We are just taking it easy today.
Rainy here as well Betty.
Can tell you are not feeling 'up to snuff', but, with all that's going on in your life right now, it's no wonder.
Jim will most assuredly be facing changes, as will your Mom .. I keep you all in my heart and prayers ..
Am 'thinking' I might get a bit of a start on decorating today, the tree is up and lit, but, it needs some do dads on it .. have an apple pie to make, and, beef stroganoff to get together for supper.
DH was to have gone hunting @0400 with a bud, but, the rain cancelled that.
One wonderful thing happened last evening, I FOUND Lorna's resume (hard copy), so, she just has to fluff it up a bit (add/delete) and, it can be dropped off at the cemetery.
Best get to the pie dough .
Stay well everyone

Rita just helped with some heavy things, not heavy really, but heavy for me.
Emailed jeff and Lisa and explained unless this flare up ends the quilts will have to wait
Talked Rita to go on back porch, so i ca take stains lass pieces down, then maybe we can measure plastic, she is not happy that I'm insisting, says her brother would be more than willing to help but you know too independent
Goes from pouring rain to sunshine and back to rain within minutes..mild out though
Bet when you say doing nothing LndaKay you are doing something. Lol. Don't think you are a sitter either
"M" you are pleased with your pre-tree then? Great news on the resume
We Canadians are n Christmas mode, don't know how you gals do it with thanksgiving and Christmas only weeks away
Just had a call from a friend in Michigan .. we were to chat tonight, but, there are TORNADO warnings all over the US Midwest, first time it has happened in November in 25 years!
Any of you from the forum in these regions, please take care .
Hope your day is going well Betty, Rita is a big help to you for sure. Are you feeling a bit better?
Got the apple pie made, and the beef stroganoff is in the works, WAS going to decorate a bit, but have decided to wait a bit.
YES, I really do like the prelit tree .. would have preferred multi coloured lights, but, am getting to like the white. Am thinking the ornaments will have to be a bit smaller though as this is what I refer to as a 'dainty tree'
Off n runnin (sorta)

"M" you could easily add a couple of colored string of lights, would be exactly like you wanted..have done same in the past! Actually think I purchased musical lighting for the tree, must dig it up.
Rita' brother & SIL helped with closing in the back deck, I feel so good about that..Rita went to clean up as they took her out for supper, wanted me to come along but I said no thank you..must say my hot turkey sandwhich I got last night that I only took a few bites was mighty delicious, glad I opted not to go with them, besides I'm sure they need time to talk just themselves. While Rita got herself ready the others watched me climb nto both ponds to take the water features out, another chore that was laying heavy on me.
So now I've washed everything on the back dck, put a few Christmas things out there, even went into my pines and cedars and cut enough to make a nice arrange, emit for back deck.
Would love to get the living room tree and set it up but I promised to wait until Rita got back, could put up all the snowflake light strings that I put on all the windows, wouldn't take much energy
What else is not energy 'to do's,lol
They did announce on the news about high winds tonight, guess we will get tail end...thread is quiet, sure hope you all are out of harms way.
Debbie, could you check with Crissy if her address the right me n the exchange..have to prepare her snowman kit and not sure where to mail it.
Katie, am hoping today was a good day for you..takes ever so long to heal at out age. Do you now have a vehicle
Hi Everyone,
The football game in Chigo is being delayed because of the weather. All of you there - please stay safe.
Time to tell you why I have been quiet this week. I'll keep it brief. Dana and Tom have been my neighbors for about six years now. There have been difficulties. I have worked hard to overcome them and Dana has, too. Though when she one said to me, "Tom is my husband and I have to do what he says" it was hard not to spontaneous do some projectile vomiting. Especially hearing this from a woman who raised buffalo - on her own - for twenty five years.
Any, Dana and I do like each other and I thought we were OK until last Saturday. Shortly after Tony left I heard a voice over a microphone. We have those cars that do that go by every so often and that's what I thought it was. Then a lot of people started parking in the area between our houses and the voices over the mic continued. This was about thirty feet froom where I was lying in bed, in pain, trying to rest. It went on and on.
After more than an hour I called their house, Tom came to the phone and asked what'g going on. that's what id'd like to know i said. He told me that they were having a neighborhood meeting about grading the road but he assurred me it was almost over. I was crying hysterically by this time. I thanked him and hung up. Neither of them has spoken to me sine. Tony has put up tarps to block my views of their property.
I am still doing some crying over this as I don't see any way gthat we are ever going to be friends or even friendly neighbors. It was such a cruel and needlessly nasty thing to do.
The up side is that I can stop making efforts to get along with them. I had really not realized how much it was taking out of me until this happened and I'll be reaching our to other neighbors when I am feeling better both mentally and physically.
What hurts the most is that I have really tried to get along with them and be friends with DAna as I like her a lot in many ways.
Even writing this I'm starting to cry again so I'll go see if the football game is back on.
I'll be back later. Thank you all for being here for me. It really helps.
hugss, katie
Sorry to hear about your neighbors Katie. I do hope they take the effort to apologize for what they have done.
Sorry to read this Katie. It sure makes things difficult I know. I'm keeping you in my prayers for you to be healed quickly.
Evening all,
Has the wind carried you all away?
Katie, my heart goes out to you, sometimes personalities clash and regardless how very hard you try you are wasting energy, kindness and friendship to no avail. We're you not suppose to be at the housing meeting re roads?
Deep breath, know we are here for you..doesn't help with your being so far away but still here.
Where is that Debbie off to, still making cafts for the ungrateful lady?
Just spoke to mom, she must be all cried ut, seems a little better tonight..likely it's because with the patches Jim is not in as much pain.
Did I say she cancelled her Tuesday surgery.
As much as I wasn't the best today Rita and I accomplished much
Back porch closed in, pumps out of the ponds, tree limbs in firepit and all the snowman kits ready to label
Now Rita is warming up soup I made and I'm going to help her with her knitting project
Betty, I am here. Have a couple days off, so just resting. I think work Wednesday and THursday.
Wind is horrible here, so be careful, will certainly cross the lake.
As far as I know, Crissy changed her address....I sent note and never heard back.
Will try again.
Debbie
Thanks Debbie,
Please tell me she is paying you and if so more than $4.50 hr.
Thanks re Crissy, hate to send the kit only to have it sent back
Wind here is just a howling..Rita is liking the back deck closed in, she smokes so it's toasty out there for her.
No Betty, she isn't paying me....but I am taking it in trade. Doing some Christmas shopping
with her items for girls.
Wind is horrible here also. Lights have flickered a time or two.
I will let you know soon as I hear from Crissy.
You still coming over Saturday?
Regardless how I'm doing I must
Have the posting /need mega supplies fron joanns and promised the girls. Really only a few free weekends for me until Christmas
Not so sure I will head south at Christmas, might be needed here!
Already made them aware I would show them where to shop but would need to rest a few times during the day and they would have to drive.
Well,I'm glad that you are getting something out of it.
While basement was in kaos today I got a few blacks out, routered the circles for light vases..Rita will make a few for Christmas gifts..need to get rid of all this wood that is in project form
Night night everyone
Holy wah..waiting to see if the wind will carry me and thee house away..no wonder I can't sleep!
Hoping all are safe!
I'm here, too
Betty hope the pain will lessen for you.
Katie - I don't know what to say..... the pain you must be in........ some neighbours are not giving or neighbourly, no matter what you do. I agree with the others - do not wast your precious time, energy or emotions on them.
I will hold all you dear people close to me in prayers.
I wish I were close enough to give you the hugs you all need.....
Betty, I hope you don't mind, but I created a like, dislike thread for the 3rd annual Santa warren exchange. Susan asked the other day, so I thought I would make a thread.
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1341941/
Look at all the early risers!
How are you feeling today Betty?
Hi Everyone,
I got a pretty good sleep and am feeling better. Still dealing with the loss of a friend (and her dog) but accepting that there is no going back. Too bad Tom wants to play a big shot. We're in a small Mexican village and it doesn't go over well. After six years he still hasn't caught on so I'll just stay out of his way.
My father was an elected official and I met many really important people, including two Presidents. I once had a private chat with Harry Truman who was one of the nicest people I've ever met. And the then-govenor of Michigan once asked me for my leftovers from dinner. So I'm not overly impressed by a contractor from Washington State who thinks he's God's gift to our little town.
Our citrus fruits are ripening. My lemon tree is loaded; I give a lot of the fruit to my friend Saul and he sells it in his store. It goes fast to the Americans as we usually have only the little green limes. I also have red grapefruit and tangerines. Tree-ripened tangerines taste like honey. Wish you could all be here to share.
My neighbor Alfredo came by while I was putting in a little time in the garden the other day. I flagged him down and gave him a tree (I think they call it a cotton tree) for the slope he is working on. He was charmingly grateful and it was a good reminder that most people are
wish I was feeling more energetic but my ankle is still a little sore and swollen and slows me down. I tend to forget there really is something still wrong physically that I need to take care of. Then I remember my "I will not hurt myself" agreements with Diane and Betty and sit for awhile.
I can play on the puter and listen to chris Isaak who has replaced Steven Tyler in my affections. I'm so fickle. Sorry, Steve.
hugs, katie
Wind had us all up very early.
I keep the windchimes up 24/7 so, we had a whole lotta 'dinging' going on!
Still quite wild out there, my brother says Lake Superior is hard at it wave wise ..
Katie, neighbours can be down right malicious at times .. I sure hope you can ignore them.
Betty , seems you got lots done on the weekend . just try to take it easy before this coming weekend .. and, prayers for Jim for sure.
Linda K, thanks for the like/dislike thread ^_^
Have a super day
~M~
You are a sweetie LindaKay
I posted on the link
Think Dianne's power could be off
Struggling today but am sure I will live
Susan, how is your weather
Well, I am sitting here laughing. Got a phone call from neighbor asking a "BIG" favor.
They need a Santa Claus for the community Christmas on December 1st, and she wanted to know if DH would do it.
I am shocked. He said yes!!! Gets to ride firetruck through town, then sit down at village hall and talk to the kids, and give them candy canes, etc.
I will have a camera handy for sure!
Precious Debbie, he will so enjoy it!!
All the municipal /organization christmas parties Roger would be Santa..he'd have been so offended not being asked..
I'm thrilled he agreed to so so
did they not need a Mrs. Claus
DIBS on Mrs Claus, still waiting on my outfit to get here LoL
Betcha your hubby will have a ball Debbie ^_^
~M~
Betty that is beautiful.
Love it!!!!
thanks, brown isn't very festive though
sitting here cutting out 5" circles out of christmas fabric to make a couple of christmas ball runners..nothing special, just something to entertain myself, can't get into trouble doing that!
Suzanne is off getting me lunch, don't want to go out!
It's still blowing and snowing, crazy kind of day
Post that runner when your done!
Home and in bed, thought I'd check up on you all..
winds here I believe has reached 83, nothing by your standards..so much destruction.
hoping you are all safe..Dianne wondering if you are involved in the power loss
hit sleet/snow and high winds..sure is nasty weather
Betty be careful in those winds of 83 miles per hour. Those are some strong winds.
Hey y'all, I'm still alive!! I'm loving my new full time job and I still work at Hobby for extra money until the 1st of the year. I'm settling into my new house, I'm having a blast starting over, change has done me good.
I hope that everyone is doing good, I'm not going to be tired tomorrow night and I'll come on and catch up with some threads. I hate being away!
I'm praying for Jim and your mom Betty. My goodness when it rains it pours!
Hey Crissy, glad you popped in to say hello. Glad to hear your settling into to your new place.
