Oh my............love chestnuts!!! You and your family will consume more than 3,000 calories Karen! Oh my.. hope there are enough couches and lazy boys for everyone.
Very considerate of Todd, LK. Would you be glazing the ham?
Well I changed my mind. Fixed another pot of soup instead of grilling. Used a can of Nacho cheese . some onion soup mix, stir in instant garlic mash potato, and I get instant soup! Lolol! Had some great Polish sausage leftovers and threw them in there.
My mother wouldn't approve my cooking style, but sometimes I don't feel like long laborious cooking when you still can get great results from shortcuts... just have to look out for the sodium.
Guess I'm supporting made in America products! Lol!
SWEET INTERUPTIONS 273
Judy so sorry that Skittles has left the family. Barb just let us know in the other building.
Julia's pretty devastated, read her grief on her FB page.
Skittles is happily singing in God's animal heaven.
LOL Jaye, it will be more than that didn't even get to what the others are bringing plus desserts.
I put sliced pineapple and cherries on the ham. Candied yams and fresh mashed potatoes.
Oooooh Linda that sounds sooo yummy. Got me drooling all over the keyboard.
Could every one send me a care package? LOL Looks like we will stay home for the holiday. I had a 14 lb. turkey in the freezer so it is "resting" in the fridge now. Dought if DH will eat much of any thing. Just won't eat anything I suggest. That leaves me a little frustrated.
It was so nice and warm out today, in the 70's. Stays cool in the house and DH says he is freezing.
I hope your DH feels well enough to eat on Thanksgiving, Pegi. The holidays are especially difficult when someone is ill.
Jaye, the talent is so outstanding on this season of The Voice, it's difficult to pick a favorite. I like Tessanne, Caroline, James and Cole. I don't have any clue who will win. Seems it's anybody's game at this point.
Well, cats got me up so back to sleep I go.
Sorry to hear that Pegi! Ask him what he wants, ice cream, his favorite food??? When my friend Katie was going through chemo, she was cold all the time. Even in the mid summer when it was 100+ she was cold! If he is in bed, get him an electric blanket for his side of the bed?
i'm stuck with all this foos. the storm is keeping inlaws away
Whoa, wish I could share in some of it. lol.
Who forgot to let the sun come out? It is pitch black here and the rain is coming down hard with wind gust. Guess Kim and I will just settle in for the day.
Jaye, Kim is doing better but the knee still hurts when she does certain things. The scrapes are touchy but healing. Probably good she has had this week off (actually furloughed) so it will help the healing process. Needs to as we will being seeing the girls on Thursday and Catie-Beth will be all over Kim and ...well enough said. :-)
Furloughed? Does that mean she gets no paycheck? That is pretty sad!
That is exactly what it means LK. That is one way school systems are making up for funding cuts......teachers are off with no pay. They get their usual paychecks minus the furloughed days. Kim has about 15 days a year where she is furloughed with no pay.
Sorry to hear that!
Hi ladies sorry I'm late for the party!
It's been raining accompanied by cold. But that didn't hold us back from the p.o, vet and grocery store trips. And yes, Kel gets a reward. Wendy's chilli and he paid dearly for that later.
Pegi, heads up girlfriend. We'll ask God tor Darwin to come out of this gloom, won't we sisters? If he;s not up to Thanksgiving with friends, maybe you could ask some of his friends to drop by for a visit? I'll send you a leftover box, if I'm cooking, but we're going out that day.
Oh.. I don't know how I'll act sitting through a meal with MIL... I'd rather be home. But it's not about me this time, I shan't trample on a broken woman.
So far she's having lots of regrets according to Kel. Still it's too soon for me to say she has changed.
Carole, from what I read, team Christina might have that chance to beat team Blake.
I tried watching it again, but once the "sparring" rounds started, I stopped, again. I like when the contestants weren't visible to the judges.
It's the same here too Marion. Teachers don't get paid for 'furloughs'.
Will Sue be joining you for Thanksgiving? I hope she's not celebrating it by herself. Too much memories in that house.
LK, Karen, I mailed the blocks out to you today. Sorry for being late. Just my body won';t do what my mind tells it to do!!
And no, I'm not depress... blame it on the cats. Carole did!! Lolol!!!
No hurry Jaye. I am still waiting on several more to be sent.
We are still under tornado warns, pouring and hearing thunder. All and all a very dreary, clammy wet day. Ducks on the lake are loving it. :-)
No Sue will not be coming for Thanksgiving. She is going to our aunt's home to be with them. It is only about an hour's drive thus she can be home to give her cats their meds on schedule. I spoke with her today and she seems excited about going so that is progress.
Jaye, if you are referring to the birdhouse blocks, mine haven't gone out either. I am having sewing machine problems. My Bernina is in the shop and my Elna is sewing but who knows for how long. I did get a call today and it seems the long periods of time not using my Bernina has something to do with it not working. I was shocked but the repairman said he had another one in the shop doing the same thing. Well, I should have it back the end of next week.
Morning sistahs, no worries on your block Marion. I haven't started on yours yet, truth be told.. :*( feeling sheepish here.
That's a sign of she's adjusting quite well to her new life sans mother. Good for Sue, Marion and I'm sure you can start to breathe easier now.
Thunderstorm and a heavy deluge of rains last night too over here, that Kel's compelled to put on some dvds as the satellite went off the air. It's funny to watch a man loose his cool over something one has no control of, especially when his shows will be repeated at a later time.
Read in bed and fell asleep too early! Guess I was tired from an unusually active day.
Have a great Tuesday sistahs.
Morning everyone! Marion andJaye, I hope those storms clear up for you!
Busy sewing Christmas pillow cases for a charity on Facebook! Kids at the shriners hospital.
We missed the bad part, LK.
That's you for sure, always giving.
Beautiful day, in the 70's. Opened the windows to let the warm air inside. DH is still feeling bad so we will stay home for Thanksgiving, but I'm OK with that. Good news from my SIL, the bone scan on my brother showed that the cancer didn't go into his bones and will start chemo in a few weeks. Thanks for all the prayers. Everyone have a great turkey day.
You too, Pegi. Happy to hear your good news!
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Wonderful news Pegi!
Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!!!!
Absolutely joyful news there Pegi! God is good!
So many things to be thankful for. The roof over my head, my stomach never goes hungry this year, Kel has mature another year... and I give thanks for the company of my wonderful sisters.
Be careful my 'snowed' sisters if travelling.
Have a lovely Thanksgiving.
Pegi. Glad to hear the good news.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Don't eat too much.
I finally went to the Dr. this afternoon. I was told I have bronchitis, both ears are infected and a severe sinus infection. Went to the pharmacy and came home with prednisone, amoxicillin and singular.
Well, gee, Linda. I hope you can still taste your Thanksgiving dinner. But hopefully you are on the mend now.
Thanks. I hope the meds kick in soon! I have been up since 3, just could not sleep. Looks like a nap in on the agenda today! Glad it is just Todd and I today!
I got up around that time. Made coffee and so forth. We're having a quiet day as well and I'm thankful for that. It's what we need. :)
Are you cooking a turkey?
We are having ham. So much easier to cook!
We are having a little turkey.
Happy Thanksgiving all. We're making preparations for our dinner on Sat. Looks like we will have decent traveling weather tomorrow. Out of touch for a couple days, no internet access where daughter lives so don't be talking about me while I'm gone.
Happy Thanksgiving to all! Up at and had my turkey in the oven by 6:30, back to bed for a couple of hours. Kim is now working in the kitchen so I am checking in to wish every one a safe, happy day. I am so grateful for all my internet family and send each a hug.
happy turkey day
I hope all enjoyed their thanksgiving dinner. I was so surprised that DH is back to eating. Since he wasn't feeling like going any where for the holiday I took the 14 lb. turkey out of the freezer and cook the old guy nice and golden brown. DH ate a decent breakfast and then when it came time for supper he asked what I had. He ate turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, dressing and later on asked for pie. Well I had 2 small individual peach pies in the freezer so I nuked them and he even asked for whipped cream for on top. The most he has eaten all week, hope this continues. Thankful we had a good day, pain pills working again. The oncologist told him he could skip a treatment if he wanted to, so today he said he is going to ask for the month of Dec. off. I guess he wants to make sure he feels good over the Christmas holidays.
It was a beautiful sunny day here. I see all the great snow pictures my niece in New York posts on facefook and I remember having such fun snow days when I was a kid. Her two really enjoy the snow. I guess all kids do, it is when we get old and achy we don't appreciate it.
Good morning sistahs.
I'm over the moon to read that Darwin did have a fantastic Thanksgiving, and our sister Pegi here can at smile the whole day! Thank you God, for the doctors' commonsense to allow Darwin not to pursue treatment till he feels better.
LK, bronchitis takes time to heal, and the symptoms are so similar to a bad sinus, that's why you thought you'd have to clean out your sinuses. Prednisone will help you with any prolonged hacking coughs.
Marion, any leftovers? What did Kim bake?
Hopefully the weather stays good for Karen's Saturday meal. Wouldn't we all love to be at one of her family's meals?
I'll even sit on the floor for a plate!!
((((Sue))) holidays and Gigi's birthday will be rough for you. Her memory will live on in your heart forever. God left you two angels to pick up the broken pieces. And I'm sure Gigi's sending happy fairies to minimise your sorrow. A good bottle of wine helps too ;)
When you and Tim fought, it's a step towards 'communicating' that's how I see it.. Have you tried getting a mediator?
Nothing wrong with a small turkey, Carole. Not much leftovers, so not much waste.
That's what I'll be cooking again this weekend. Of course, this time, baking it in a traditional oven.
Ryan's food was very good, but I can't say the same about the company. A zebra can never change it's stripes as it's born that way.
I think I had mentally recited more than 2 dozens Lord's Prayer, at the table, and on the way home. When Kel turned around and asked me why I was quiet, I told him that I was praying.
He wouldn't want me to cuss on Thanksgiving day!
After we drop her off, I couldn't wait to get in the shower to get clean and start afresh!! Yes, I felt like I had stepped into some muck.
'Nuff said.
22 right now, and today, I'll be trying to finish another UFO!!

Sorry to your dinner turned out that way Jaye. Good for you for holding your tongue.
Thanks LK. It made me wonder if it's me that's imagining things. But after replaying the scenes over in my mind, I'm convince I'm normal!! Lol!!
Drink lots of HOT tea LK. I will have to get more of those delicious instant Apple Cider. Only hot tea that Kel will drink. Think I'll get two boxes, your fault LK!!! I like it too!
Always room Jaye, we set up banquet tables as DD has huge living room. Many years ago we got our own tables and chairs as renting so often was too expensive. We also own two big tents for summer parties. If nothing else my family do know how to throw parties.
About ready to get in the car and head down. Beautiful sunshiny day and word is there is minimal snow down there so expect roads will be clear. Guys will be doing a bit of hunting today and tomorrow and also have plans to get the cannons cleaned and put away proper until next year. We store them at the farm as there is room for the trailer in a barn.
All who are shopping today have a good time and hoping you bag many bargains.
