Thanks Jaye!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Back in awhile. :)

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I found the crumbs to the new area. Luckily Kathy didn't eat all of them before I saw them. :-)
Not much going on here....doctor's appointment. A OK, so that is behind me. Spending lots of time on the phone with my sister....knew it was coming but unfortunately I am not trained to deal with her situation. If only she would realize that there is another world out there besides sitting and watching her cats all the time.

Jaye, I know you have cats but they don't control your every hour and all activities.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Marion, I have more cats than your sister does. I now have 10 indoors! But you're right, they don't consume all my time. Just the necessary feeding times, grooming and that regular shouts of "No (insert name)"
You know that's your sister's coping mechanism. She has convinced herself that she can't fit in a 'regular' world and her cats became her crutch. If she's not getting help, like any addicts, she'd have to hit rock bottom to realize she that lifestyle will just push her to deeper depression..
Cats are supposed to be your companions, not your whole world.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

You have pretty much described her Jaye. They are her whole world. Today she had one that was sick; took it to the vet and now she is going to a specialist with her tomorrow. Apparently they can't tell if it has a fur ball (extremely possible) or a mass in the stomach. I have talked with her 6 times already and I didn't get home until noonish.

I really don't mean to put her down but I am truly getting more concerned. She goes no where as she has to be home to do all the meds; I have told her I want her to spend the holidays with us this year...can't trust anyone to see they are medicated at proper time. Atleast when mom was alive, she had to go into town 4 times a week but now...nope. Maybe once every 10 days or so....other times is on the phone with me.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

went to dr. yesterday for my itchy couter. good a bacterial infection

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I'm so sorry for your sister Marion. It is such a difficult adjustment for her. I think I would not be "available" every time she calls - maybe every other to get her used to you being a bit busy yourself. She needs to be needed and right now it is her cats that fulfill that need. It will wear off a bit in time. But you need to be able to heal in your own way too. We are so glad you know all of us are here for you. Sure wish there were something I could do to help......

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Barb, thanks for you comments. I do skip a few calls as I am so trying to get caught up on the things I have had on hold for so long. Yes, would do it all again but now I must pick up and go forward. The scary part of this situation is she really shows no judgment where cost is involved. I love my animals (and especially my newest baby...what a joy) but I just can't and wont let them control my every movement.

I so hope to get back to sewing soon.......still trying to wrap my head around the fact I am not leaving a week or so. Really strange after 3 years.

Kathy, I told you about sitting on wet ground!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Sorry to hear about your infection Kathy. Hope it clears up quickly.
Marion hope your Sister gets some help.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning sistahs.
Sis Kathy, what were u doing sitting on wet sand?

Marion, don't beat yourself over your sister's stubborness.
She chose to play Florence Nightingale with your mum, and now she's gone, Sue still chose to lead a solitary life, and this time, playing pope to her cats.
It all boils down to, its Sue's choice, not yours.
She's wise enough to see what she's missing, but I think she kept all humans at bay, because she lacks confidence and it's easier to deal with familiarities than the unknown.

Do what Barb suggests, pull away from her. Surprise her by not calling for a week or more.. if you could.
Make her miss your ramblings on the grandkids, the kids, your 'events'. For now the only 'outside' news she gets is from you.
No psychiatrist here, but I think she's taking part in life through you. and that's enough for her. Hope you understand what I'm trying to say.

My news for today.
Marion should be happy to know that Kel's getting a DRE and a PSA procedures with his annual physical today!

Nothing planned for me.. just the usual housecleaning and laundery and cooking and ..

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Jaye, how extremely perceptive of you regarding Sue. Funny things is....I don't call...she does all the calling. "I think she kept all humans at bay, because she lacks confidence and it's easier to deal with familiarities than the unknown." That is it in a nutshell! She will not even try new restauants...so sad. Also sad, she doesn't really show much interest in the granddaughters. Sorry I have vented so much but I did have a feeling this is what would eventually happen and I so hate to see her become a recluse...worse than she is.

Congratulations to Kel. Yes, September is Prostate Cancer Awareness month and it is something that is very dear to me. I just wish it got a little more attention but unfortunately this is one area men do get neglected. Give that big boy a hug for me, please.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Very sad for Sue Marion, but this is her own choice. She may decide to come out of her shell a bit on her own or with a bit of coaxing. Maybe not though as it sounds like this is a long time habit for her. You have a life and it's a pretty good one so don't let her pull you into her pit. There are places to get help handling grief, encourage her to find a group.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Still need prayers for Steve... Message is copied from Hollies Facebook page...

Need Prayers Again:
Steve woke up in A fib this morning around 3:30am. That is where the top part of your heart just flutters and does not beat properly causing an irregular heart beat. This means his heart is not pumping oxygen rich blood to the rest of his body causing him to be light headed. We are in the ER now and heading to ICU on cardiazem dip. Hopefully, he will convert to a regular heart rhythm on medication.
Steve is getting a CT right now. The cardiologist want to know why he is having A-Fib. Looks like the plan at this point is to increase the medication and wait. We will be here in the ICU at least until tomorrow. They are allowing him to eat and drink now, which is good news. That means that they are not planning on any surgical intervention. Hopefully, that will include not getting shocked. Thank you for all of your prayers and please keep them coming.

Also, my Sister is not doing well, she has extreme nausea, and they can't get meds to help her! She still can't walk.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

So many prayers being sent your way LK. Is this your sister in Michigan? If so the prayers will head that way also.
Sending prayers for Sue also Marion.....

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

LK, add me to the list sending prayers. I sure hope that can find a medicine that will stop this from happening so often.

Thanks everyone for your thought about my situation with my sister. At 67 I don't think I can change her and yes, I don't always answer the phone. I have things to do, place to go, granddaughters to spoil and anything else that crosses this mind.

Tonight my biggest thought will be getting Kim to rub my back with the good of friend of ours...Ben Gay. I have been hearing thumping noises all day but contributed them to the dump trucks downloading dirt in my next door neighbor's drive. Not! The 2 dead trees in the front decided to come down all by themselves and were totally blocking the driveway. I attempted to move them so Kim can get in tonight but oh boy, this old body will be paying for it tonight. The trunks are about 9/10" in diameter and one piece is about 10 feet long. It was a chore but at least Kim can get under the carport. Ohhh, my aching bod. :-(

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

MARION!....Good grief Woman! You should know better than to lift something like that alone. We simply do NOT need you laid up because you threw your back out or strained your gizzard.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

ROFLOL, I'd be more worried about my gizzard. :-)
I sorta rolled and twisted until I cleared the driveway.....just at the edge as it was way to heavy to move much further.

Would you believe the workman next door saw what I was doing and not one of the 7 offered to help. So much for the men of today! :-( I am off to a nice warm shower and some Tylenol and I should be okay.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Marion. .. Hands on hip with foot tapping. Take a muscle relaxer if you have some.
Yes it is my sis in Michigan. And her youngest son Steve is in Tennessee. She is so upset that she can't get down there to see him.
Thanks for the prayer

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Will pray for Steve and your sister's recoveries, LK. Must be hard on you as you're too far to do anything for both. Looks like Steve's in a capable doctor's hands.

Marion, what are we going to do with you? Are you in competition with Sis Kathy as to who could do the most damage to herself? I bet you got an earful from Kim. I am sure she wouldn't mind parking on the side of the road till the driveway's clear! You could pull a muscle, or heavens forbid, injure something!!

I understand your frustrations with your sister. But don't feel guilty, she's happy in her world. What you think she should have a life like yours, isn't what she wants. Maybe she chose not to be close to your grands as she doesn't want to 'intrude'?
As long as she's not making crystal meths or turning the house into a bordello.... what more can you do? Her cats are her only comfort and taking care of them makes her feel important and needed.
Go on and continue with life!! One day, she'll want what you have!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye you put that so well! Sometimes we can't help those if they do not want it!

Morning everyone!

lk, payers for steve
MARION, I thought I taught you better than that

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Ladies, ladies. I am okay. I just rolled and pulled the tree until it was beside the driveway. I am fine this morning...truly I am. LOL Jaye, parking on the street would be dangerous for Kim's car with all the heavy truck coming in and out of the next door neighbors. They have already knocked my mailbox over....yes, they set it back up but not steady by an means.

You are right as long as Sue is happy then why should I worry myself...................

Off to do some errands this morning. One of our nurseries have Pegoda plants and I want one for the yard; need some ingredients for making a 7 layer dip; and anything else I can find to get into trouble.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh my LK!!!!!!!!!!! Why oh why did you post that picture!! I have seen them here, doing the same thing, sometimes sleeping in the middle of the food tray, sleeping. I'd be smiling away!
Cats are like that, they don't discriminate ;)

Morning sistahs. Got some bad news to relay here. Add our Canadian sistah Susan in your prayers please. She and Bob really need a financial break.
Let's send her supportive cards and remind her that she's loved very much, rich or poor..

Nothing much going on here, except for laying out mulch to get the plants ready for snooze. We are supposed to get a chilly and wet winter. B ut I don't trust that prediction, so, I'll still do at least 6" cover.

Autumn is my favorite time of the year and it feels like Autumn now. The air is just heavenly and no mosquitoes!! Thank you God for the start of 70s temps.
Will be back.. sleeping beauty woke up.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Well, I envy you those temps. We were down but now back into the lower-to-mid 80s all next week. :( Fall is my favorite too but summer is still hanging on here.

I did think our hummingbirds had left on the migration but I spotted one just awhile ago, busy drinking from a flower. Also noticed a lot of nectar gone from the feeder this morning. So they are still here. They shouldn't be around much longer though.

Re: being a recluse. Yes, everyone's journey is different. Sometimes I'm more reclusive than others but there is an ebb and flow. These days, keeping to oneself doesn't always seem like such a bad idea. :)

It got to be global warming!! Your zone is supposed to be cooler than that at this time of the year Carole! Let's hope you have a mild winter.
Love your hyacinth bean plant. So you take full advantage of your hurricane fence. Yep, need to cover up steel!
Real life dealt me the 'recluse' card too, and I am getting used to this. As long as there's some social online media, Thanks for that affirmation that as long as one's happy, it's okay to be a recluse.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I think I need to explain. Nothing wrong with being a recluse but she doesn't use her computer very much, isn't overly fond of having people in or definitely doesn't like leaving her place. But as you said, if she is happy then who am I to judge?

....but the calling me any where from 5 to 10 times a day. Well, that says something to me.

This message was edited Sep 27, 2013 10:17 AM

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

I agree. All that calling definitely says something else.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh dear.. Marion, my ex was that way when I moved here. Not that many calls per day, but that daily ring makes me ill at times.
He wasn't too needy back in Louisiana as I was about 20 miles away from him.
After a few years here, he reduced the frequency and now it's down to once a week! Lolol!

But your sister, that's something else. She needs to move closer to you!! She won't admit it, but she's jealous of your life! Oh dear...

Cooking venison now, donated by my church sister. Her DH loves to hunt but won't eat venison, so I got lucky!
And Kel doesn't care to try anything else that's not sold in supermarkets, unlike his dad and brother! More for me!

Looking forward to April. Can taste that fried turkey!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

A warning from Audrey from the other building.
Take heed sistahs.

"WARNING!!!
If any of you have Yahoo, when I tried to get on this morning, it asked me for my e-mail and passphrase...NOT password. Of course it didn't take it, and it told me where to go to fix it, and change something. Stupid me! Of course I did! Something to do with proxy servers. That locked EVERYTHING up! I had to go to system restore twice to fix it, but it's done, now. DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING! I couldn't find it to correct it later!"

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I dropped Yahoo a long time ago because of all the crap I kept getting.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Got my Pagoda plants.....guess what I will be doing tomorrow? I am sooooooooooo looking forward to getting down right dirty, nasty in the yard. :-) Kim will be home and she can answer the phone. he!he!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Ah! Good plan. :)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Charge your camera now. We will be waiting to see your dirty work.

Kathy sending love and prayers sistah.

LK that is how i feel in that pic ! aaahhh got wine and chips tonight. I wil never loose them last 10 bls if i keep this up LOL
we did 150 gals of cider today. i m tired. 7 hr day.
other then that , going to Cookies tomorrow for a get to gether, then savannah has a sleep over . then ???

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I haven't been keeping up with the posts lately. Sending prayers for all those who need it. Glad Kel is having a PSA test, so very important for men's health. I'm with Marion on that subject. PSA level for DH is slowing going up, but doctors aren't too worried about that so guess I shouldn't either. DH went to regular doctor and got stornger pain killers, hyromorphone and we will see if that takes away his pain. DH is always worrying about becoming addicted, but the doctor said don't worry about that but need to get rid of pain. Also gave him a pill to help him when he feels sick to his stomach. Why go through life in pain if there is meds to take it away. We can be a stubborn bunch when we want to be. Our temps. are going up and down, mornings are chilly so I guess fall is in the air.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I got the bug.. am happy that none of you will catch it from me!

So, I'll safely give HUGS to everyone!

Need to check on that pagoda plant Marion. Little girls like to play in the dirt too!

The only apple cider I'd drink is Martinelli. The one with the fizz, Sue.

Pegi, your DH should qualify for medical marijuana. My BFF says it's helping her.

Back to football or bathroom...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear your not feeling well Jaye. Hope your better soon.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Me too! Hopes for real speedy recovery.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Unless the football score has changed since I last checked...Jaye maybe even sicker. We might even need to send a care package for Kel.......how dare him be for a team Jaye isn't. :-)
