This years spring run-off will be interesting with all that snow.

Cocoa Beach, FL(Zone 10a)

So glad you got the packet. My grape tomatoes are the only thing doing well right now, but I've planted a few gazania seeds so maybe I'll have spring flowers along with my forced bulbs. The white iris are doing well.

cornwall, ON(Zone 4b)

Hey everybody come on out of hybernation. It is the 1st day of spring and although it is overcast with rain forcasted, it is above 0 and the snow is melting. Hooray for that! I'm so sick of looking at that dirty white stuff. I have gazania, marigold, geranium, begonia, datura, and more that i am not mentioning (-too many to list) seeds up.It had better warm up fast because I don't want to have to pot all these up. Half of my basement is taken up by layers of seed trays all sprouting seedlings. come on out and say Hi, best regards Sandra

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

hello . Wild asters are sprouting , Daylily shoots from older plants . Garlic I started from seed last year are showing up as are a few old sprouts of the Garlic .
It is a nice thought , plants and greenery returning . not much to see so far though .
Indoor starts , pepper salvia , marigolds . Tomato shortly ..
Spring ^_^ !!!

Yahoo!! Spring has arrived, why is it still snowing here? Okay, we're talking about SEEDS and not PLANTS just yet. My early Patio Princess tomatoes are started under the light stand, will be transplanted into portable buckets in a couple of weeks. Then on and off the porch depending on the weather and temps. We don't get seriously warm temps until mid-May or so.

Things are looking up!

Hi Juhur and Al -Patio Princess? Full size or cherry? How long til maturity? I have yellow cherry -Chello, Celebrity Full size, indeterminate, 60 day, First Lady indeterminate, 66 days, full size and some seeds that a friend sent me from Northern Ontario that he was given by an elderly Italian man (my friend says they are the best he has ever grown). Would you believe ?-the Celebrity and First Lady seeds were in a box Of my father's stuff that I recently unpacked so the seeds are 12 years old and even if only half sprout it will be amazing! So far I only have 1 or 2 of each one of the above that have actually sprouted but it is eary on yet. Will give them another week.

Hornell, NY(Zone 5a)

Patio Princess is Burpee hybrid, don't know if they are available in Canada. It's a short determinate tomato bred for large pots and containers. Fairly early, but I also start mine 2 - 3 weeks early anyway. It's a "large cherry" about golf ball size tomatoes. Info at http://burpee.com
Contact my D-Mail if interested.

I've grown a few tomato seeds 10 years old or more, all depends on how they have been stored. Some will germinate, some won't. Only one way to find out, win or lose. I would just space them out in a cool-whip container with a good quality starting mix, then pluck out the ones that grew for transplant into a flat. Some folks have their own recipe for doing this such as adding a very light dilution of Miracle-Gro to the water to help.

Okay Chit-Chaters, where have you all been? We're finally eatin' tomatoes here in NY, seems like we're about the last ones on the entire continent! Sandra sent me some seeds from Manitoba that turned out absolutely delicious!

Is the Newbie Thread still intact?

Hope everyone is happily gardening!

Be Well!

Those are nice maters! I have a bit to go before I can pick mine. Not quite ripe yet for that full blown flavor that I'm craving for my BLT sandwich.
In the seeds for newbies dept. I have been harvesting the Columbine, Larkspur and Bolero Marigold seeds. Checked the Eastern Blue Star (Amsonia) and Hollyhocks and found Jester's Jacket is blooming, tiny pink flowers, so cute. Had to give the Columbine pods the freezer treatment as they were full of tiny beetles. All good now! My red raspberry crop was so sparse there was hardly enough for a little grazing let alone desserts of any kind. I'll miss my raspberry jam this winter, but raspberries are too expensive to purchase for jam making. The asparagus was excellent this spring. But no apples. Late frost got them all. I sure hope we get a nice fall so lots of tomatoes will have time to mature.

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Mine are about gone. Still picking some bell peppers though...

Cocoa Beach, FL(Zone 10a)

I'm not getting enough peppers so I have to buy them and corn on the cob.

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Hi everyone - time marches on! :)

hope you're enjoying what's left of summer. I am still nursing some seedlings. I have been REALLY behind this year what with school and all. Better luck next year, and/or I am about to start some sunflower seeds which will bloom well into November.

Good night!
A.

Hornell, NY(Zone 5a)

I'm still looking at (maybe) my last bacon, lettuce, and tomato salad for the season. Just adding a little Italian dressing and a few blue cheese crumbles. The garden is drying up pretty good despite the cool summer here in New York. Time to start getting our new catalogs for next year! LOL

I have my fall crop of peas started and my butternut squash are looking good. Beets were very disappointing, no size at all. A few tomatoes still green but of good size.

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Holy CROW we have fallen down in here!!!

How is everybody? We have folks on the round robin thread already talking about beginning their winter sowing on the solstice. It's right around the corner! Me, I am still just cleaning up the yard from summer. Slowly. A single black plastic pot at a time. :D

Hope everyone is reasonably well and settled in for their long winter's nap.

Yep, still alive and well... I'm searching out a few seed catalogs for my "perfect" tomato for next year. Trust me, I've tried dozens.

Christmas lights are up and running, it's starting to look holidayish here.

Good to hear from everyone!
