Coffee break #98
up to 94° this afternoon. 84 now. Come on Mother Nature!!!!!!!!!!!!
Prayers appreciated for my brother in law, Iggy, after operation and round of treatments, the last MRI showed growth in the brain tumor, he will need another operation(unsure of what date)
How awful, Jen! Will certainly pray for your family......Sorry to hear about Victor as well.....hoping things improve for him & his family. My grandie, Anni, had 4 teeth pulled yesterday...baby teeth just wouldn't come out, & she is a tiny 6 year old.....she's doing well, back in school today.
were her 2nd teeth coming in?
my kids were just at the dentist and he said they can be late and maybe not until 7-8 years old that you lose 1st tooth
It is genetic( I lost my baby teeth late)
and now the boardwalks on fire

That fire was on the TV news last night. How dreadful for the recovery of the people.
Yes, Anni's permanent teeth were already in, her tiny mouth was a mess....the baby teeth weren't even loose.....Awful about the boardwalk, like those folks haven't been through enough......
Poor little Annie! Mike had the same issue as a kid....too many teeth for his mouth, so he went through the same thing. It all worked out well for him in the end.
I hope Victor knows that we are all thinking about him and his family.
Yes, Garret had to have adult teeth pulled & a palate stretcher...he had a small mouth.....then he grew to 6'2", but has stayed around 175 pounds......he didn't get my metabolism, as he eats like a wolf!
Same thing happened to my niece, never heard of it before. Today she has one of the most beautiful smiles!
They can do wonders now!
Yeah, must come out if the adult teeth are already there
Getting nothing done today...just saying
got some weeding done, but rain is coming on Sun. Perhaps easier to weed afterwards, but it takes out a day.
I'm trying to clean my house...this is break time for me.....
If you think of it, tomorrow, Monday afternoon, our 12th grandy will be born down in Texas. Appreciate it immensely!!!
That's great Jan, congrats!!
Congratulations, Jan. Number 12! I am impressed.
I just got back from DC, learning fed govt rules and opportunities, and it was a very successful trip. I am hoping this leads to an opportunity to play with the big boys in my field. Seemed like the threat of government closings as well as the Navy yard were right next door.
The national mall was pretty empty now that tourist season is over-- I took one day to tour all the gardens there and spent a day at the National art museum. Lots of wonderful ideas, such as: Asheii magnolia over one pond and waterfall the size I am intending, but camera and cell phone weren't working well enough to take pictures. Must replace all batteries.
Praying everything is fine with the new grandie & Mom......Sounds like a great trip, Rosemary!
Thanks y'all. You know I will post after I get THE call.
Rosemary, glad you were able to enjoy some idea-collecting time. Bummer about the pic situation.
Vivian arrived Head full of dark hair. 8:13 lb. 21". Woohoo!!!
Woohoo!!!! Welcome Vivian!!
Great, a big girl.
Yep, we grow them BIG in our family. Hehehe.
Hurray for Vivian! Hurray for Mom! Hurray for Grandmom!
glad to see someone else has big babies too.
Congrats!
Great news, Jan!
Woohoo is right, Jan! Congrats!
Thanks y'all!
Does anyone know the ID of a deciduous tall tree in CT (zone 6)? It has glossy green oval leaves with blueberry-like blue berries in the fall? Thanks!
How tall ? Could be Inkberry Ilex glabra but I have never seen on taller than 10-12 feet.

Sorry not to have a shot as my computer which is less than a year old has crapped out. Needs a new hard drive and it has all my photo's on it, but I should be able to get them back. Patti
Native trees that have berries are hackberry & black cherry......that's all I can think of off hand.....
These are about 40 feet tall. I know it isn't a black Cherry, but I will check out the hackberry. The blueberries look exactly like edible blueberries. The leaves are very glossy.
Thanks, Patti & Marilyn!
Leave it to Hank to solve it...! It is a Black Gum Tupelo. 😉
Ha, Leave it to me to not have looked at our window to see the stand of them that we planted in 1983. It has nice fall color too. Nyssa sylvatica Blackgum or Tupelo
I guess with a stand of them there's a good chance of getting fruit. What are the odds of that with only one tree? Tupelos are among my favorites, but I probably wouldn't have guessed it either. This month I planted one near an ash tree. The ash trees farther from the house got company from a new yellow poplar or lindodendron. Seeing them all grow makes less worry about the borer threats to come.
I passed right over the tupelo in my Audubon New England book....never noticed the berries!
