All the best with the new truck, I would like to get a new car before I get any more miles on the Firebird(never gettting rid of that!)
Coffee break #98
Happy birthday to your little one, Jen! Great, Ronnie.....glad your new ride will be good for the little ones.....I can fit 3 car seats in my Explorer...you've got to think of those things with grandkids!
Got a call from a friend this morning....her DH had to have part of his leg amputated due to diabetes....life is short.
That's sad to hear RD :( yes life is short.
Yep, it is!! Wake up call.
I like it Jen
And don't like the fondant and overly handled cakes anyway!
Happy Birthday to "M with 2Ds"! She is a doll! And I think your cake is awesome.
I have been having so much fun with my grandies from Colorado this week! They leave tomorrow and the house will be so empty. The 5-yr old wants to carry Bailey and Carli everywhere and have them sit with her all the time. Bailey cut her eyes over at me one time with a look that would kill! They have been sooooooo patient with her.
The funny thing about this photo is that it wasn't posed for the photo......this was often the scene whenever I sat down, and Hank decided to capture what we call "Grammy Buried Under a Pile of Kids & Puppies"........which was the byline for this visit. LOL
Love that cake, Jen
AWWW, Louise, I KNOW you have enjoyed every moment of being buried with grandies and dogs. Too funny about the dog's eye glance.
We had a perfect day at my niece's house for a family gathering. I wish more would have been able to be there, but living thousands of miles away kinda limits that. Their 1100 sq. Ft pool was huge. Enough room for a whole slew of people. There was a sun shelf that was enormous with steps down to a shallow area that gradually deepened. There was a little u-shaped area with a built-in bench so you could sit in the water and have a conversation. You climbed up some steps to a hot tub. Next to that was a wall of rocks that you could climb on with a waterfall that you could jump from. A regular water park. They still have some work to do on it to finish some of the tile work and landscaping, but this summer they are enjoying it. We were looking for a place to take the RV on Labor Day. We may just have found the perfect place. Heehee. Wonder if they would mind if we parked in their driveway.
Family fun is so precious (including pets).
louise where are you in that picture??? :)
Flattened! I seem to have "lap dogs" and "lap grandies"!!! Of course I just hate it. They are leaving in the morning for the Cape for a few days, and boy will they be missed. I'm sure Bailey and Carli will be happy for a few moments of peace, but they were both so good with the kids. 😁
Love that pic Louise! Isn't it great when the dogs are good with the grands!
Jan sounds like a fantastic visit!
Could I ask for some prayers for my DDIL, her step dad that has dementia is doing real bad, he isn't expected to live much longer. Been a rough weekend for her and her mom, and my GDs Sophie and Luci are very confused at this point. They know he's real sick and are more upset because their mom is so sad.
On it, Ronnie. Difficult for kids when they don't understand all that is going on around them.
Thanks Jan.
I not usually one of the over protective moms BUT do I or do I not let me kids go to one of those EXTREME bounce places? It's not just a kid type one
and their waiver states in capital letters no less " THERE IS A CHANCE YOUR CHILD MAY BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED"
usually they kinda gloss over it... injury or death may occur...but to phrase it like that??? sheesh
I wouldn't since it's not just for kids.
Prayers for Ronnie's DDIL.
We had a great weekend though our kids were working. My brother and SIL were here and we toured the local museums. We learned that the Harvard Museum of Natural History in Cambridge has an interactive map of plant and animal classification. it was really cool. And I felt the way my dog must feel when we take him for a walk--hungry for stimulation, although my channel is through visual arts, not smell. MFA and its renovation looked really good. Sackler Art Museum will reopen after their renovation in September, so it's on the must see again list.
Thanks, Ronnie! And yes, prayers for your DDIL and the grandkids' unsettled feeling and confusion. It is always so difficult to try to explain the inexplicable complexity of the dementia diseases.
Jen, i don't think you are being overprotective at all. The words, "EXTREME" and "MAY BE KILLED" do not readily go with young kids and common sense. ....INHO.
Same here, Ronnie.
Had more bad news myself. Just found out a cuz died last November. And yesterday, that another has lung cancer. Again - my mom's side. Not even sure if she ever smoked. 55 yrs old.
Had our stickball game Saturday. Great time, as always.
Thanks guys appreciate it.
Victor sounds like they may be predisposed and the smoking of course doesn't help. So sad.
Cool that you still have your stickball game. Loved playing that as a kid!
Oh, Victor. Sorry for the sad news.
Sherri: your NOID plant above looks like some sort of Mullen.
I had lunch with Marilyn yesterday.Great to see her.Got caught up on some gardeners news.
Very sorry about your sad news, Victor.
Thanks, all. Update is grim. Already spread to liver. Apparently started as melanoma which she recently had removed. Wonderful person, gifted painter and instructor. Only recently a grandmother.
Geez, so sorry Victor, do they all live in the same area?
Sad for the family now & grandkid won't benefit either.
Thanks. No, the one who died was in WY. This one is in north NJ.
Terrible news! Too close to home....prayers for you, Victor, & you & your family Ronnie.....Louise, your grandkids are just beautiful! The girls are patient little creatures....don't know how long Suey would take it before she ran & hid! Great seeing Jo, & her always wonderful gardens.....lots still blooming, but her deck containers were fab! Here is Faraday, my niece's cat, on top of the tv, & 3 containers I especially liked at Jo's......
Hi Marilyn.Glad you made it home safe.It was great to see you.
Sorry I missed you Marilyn just got back from out west.
Sorry to hear more sad news, Victor.
Marilyn, those are wonderful container pics.....just lovely, Jo! Do you bring all of those inside for the winter?
Thanks, all...sorry I missed you also, Deb. Went to GroMore for peaches....not very sweet this year, too much rain. Should have a nice apple crop, however.
Oh man the peaches at the farm down the road are sooooo good, you actually have to eat them over the sink they are so juicy
Bethlehem Fair is approaching.....my roses are beautiful right now, I'm sure they'll be finished by next week! Really having a hard time coming up with entries this year, am hoping others will have the same problem, but there's always someone who has outstanding flowers blooming....maybe they store them in the fridge!
In the words of my son " 1 down 170 more days to go"
very funny, Jen!
Jen and Marilyn....HAHAHAHAHAHA! Thanks for giving me a smile and a giggle !
