Nera is doing great!! She keeps the dogs in check for sure. Harper could care less and just lays there and watches as she runs by. Winston on the other hand wants desperately to be friends and she wants no part of it. Told him so with a right cross and left hook to the nose! It's so funny to watch a 165 lb. dog back away from a 6 pound cat!

She's a little toughie! Haven't heard any more news about MaggieMae, so I assume I will be picking her up in 9 days.......

Ronnie - Never underestimate a cat! My gray stray who is now in the house, Meeyow, used to attack the neighbor's Pit Bull when she got in our yard. Run like heck at the Pit, rake her face with his claws, and run back on the porch! Meeyow wanted to take on every dog he saw!

Nera is funny with Winston, last night she was sniffing his feet and looked like she was going to go after her tail. Then she will act like she hates him, spit his and swipe!
When she is hungry and wants her dinner she shows no fear I think she would let Winston feed her if he could. I love her to death, she sleeps at my feet and kisses me in the morning to wake up!

That is very nice.

I babysat for my granddog, Oliver, last night, & will be back up to the farm again tonight....he wouldn't come in for me until 12:30 this morning.....I could have throttled him! Tonight, if he doesn't come in by 10:00, I'll let the coyotes keep him.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

No you won't! :)

Thomaston, CT

No, I know......I'll be out there in the pitch dark yelling for him, hoping the bears are still hibernating!

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Doesn't he come for a hot dog? Or a nice marrow bone? It sure is different when it isn't your own dog, isn't it?

Thomaston, CT

Nothing entices Ollie! He only comes when my son calls him.....however, when my son called to check in he told me not to let Ollie out after 8......I didn't....he awoke me at 6 in the morning to go out, but came back in at 7....so I had one good night's sleep! MaggieMae is coming at 7 Sat. morning....guess I won't be getting much sleep after that, unless she's trained for the night.....

Thomaston, CT

Meet MaggieMae! You can see she looks a lot like Suey, but Mags is taller & heavier boned....she also has some brindle patches on her, & not a lot of freckles. So far, she's been very quiet. I gave her a bath & she was excellent! She's 10 months old, older than I thought......her shelter photos were obviously taken a few months ago.

She looks very nice. Too many new places & a long ride will make her quiet.

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

She's a beaut! I love those wise, slanted eyes, and the beautiful markings.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

What a sweet face!

Thomaston, CT

MaggieMae had a wonderful night.....not a peep, I let her out at 6, came right back to bed & slept til 8. I took her into my fenced garden area, went up to the road to get the papers, & there was Maggie! Either over or under the fence.....thank God not much traffic on Easter morn......she came back 5 min. later.....I kept calling & shaking the treat box.....so, she will never be outside unless on a leash! Can't trust the fences!

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

We dealt with an Easter walkabout also. There's a sweet little poodle girl down the road from us so we knew where to look. Cliffie had a look of real satisfaction. His jailbreak required him to scale a stone wall that is much higher than the hatch to our car--the one he looks at us like we have to lift him to get into.

South Hamilton, MA

She might not have gone out of the fenced area if she was accustomed to the place but you are right to be careful. Glad that there was no damage.

Thomaston, CT

Maggie was coughing like crazy this morning....afraid it's kennel cough, even though she was vaccinated against it in Feb. Hopefully, it's a mild case, & I already have her vet appt.

South Hamilton, MA

Too bad.

I have my priest's cat here. we're trying to figure out if he and Mona will get along. My priest is retiring and can't take him with her. so far he hasn't left his cat carrier.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Go and watch the My Cat From Hell episodes that show how to introduce cats. He is the best!

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

still in hiding

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Poor Baby. He is eating and peeing and pooping? If Mona isn't attacking him, you will probably be alright.

Thomaston, CT

Good news....no sign of kennel cough or heartworm or heart problems.....may be just allergies......Good luck, Jumper....I hope Mona will love her new friend!

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

took him back. all he did was hide and hiss at us if we came near. He actually took a swipe at me. when I cat sit him at his house, he never does any of that.

Thomaston, CT

Sorry it didn't work out....guess Mona will have to be happy by herself!

South Hamilton, MA

Believe me, Mona will be happier by herself. She was annoyed to find Salem there when she moved in.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

yes she was.

Learning new things about MaggieMae daily........she loves to gather up any of my clothes & puts them on my bed.....she took 2 jackets from a bench downstairs & transported them upstairs.....sneaky, I never heard her!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

do you think you can get her to hang them up? LOL!

South Hamilton, MA

My in-laws had a lab which was a collector of indoor objects.

Thomaston, CT

I think she's part hound....has some brindle patches on her.....has not barked yet, nor whined.....she did make a few whimpering noises in her sleep last night.......sounds like a baby, right? Wish she could hang up my clothes, Memory!

Thomaston, CT

Sad news on MaggieMae.....she has started to show signs of aggression, growling at folks that are near me.....I've contacted the shelter to return her.....She's wonderful 90% of the time, but I lived with an adopted aggressive dog for 8 years.....I won't go down that road again.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

That is so sad. I support you in returning her but I know that it isn't easy to do. Have you thought about adopting an adult dog so you will know the temperament ahead of time? {{hugs}}

Thomaston, CT

I guess I just want a pup, since it will be my last.....maybe an older dog after this one.....

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

These are difficult but often necessary decisions. My heart goes out to you, Marilyn, but better to know about the aggression now as opposed to later. We have found that a very good foster program had a very clear idea about what a dog is like before the adoption.

Thomaston, CT

I'm not going to adopt this time....going to raise a pup, although I'm not sure what kind.....

South Hamilton, MA

Puppies are messy, no matter which kind ☺

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Puppies of any kind steal our hearts away.
