As a non physician I can tell you that it will pass. Nerves take a long time to heal.
NE Pets Forum #27
I hope you are getting a medical opinion, Louise. There are hand specialsts that do nothing else. I'm speaking as one who is fixing a nerve problem in my face. In my case, They are not even scheduling the post op until four months and PT is in eight.
Sorry, Louise! Hope your hand feels better soon......Nicki is healthy, growing, gaining weight....pretty soon, I won't be able to pick her up! Good thing she learned to climb the stairs when I first brought her home.....even though our wolfhound was only 8 weeks old when we got her, she never could do indoor stairs....outdoor ones were fine, but she had to sleep downstairs....well, she wouldn't have fit on our bed anyway!
Lucy, thank you for that encouragement that the nerves will heal eventually. That really helps my spirits! I have found that using a carpal tunnel wrist splint around the house instead of the regular splint which I do use when I am around people who might grab my hand or bump into it seems to be helping some with the burning.
Rosemary, I have an appointment on the 18th to see about the nerve stuff. I am glad to hear that you are progressing with time, and I hope you continue to be careful about falling. You have been through enough. The timing you mention for your PT, etc also gives me some encouragement not to be impatient. It just seems that the entire summer has been a wipeout since this happened right after our RU. Oh well, there will be other summers, right?
Marilyn, Nicki sounds like a gem to me. I look forward to meeting her at some point. Everyone stay well and upright! LOL
So glad to hear you are keeping your spirits up, Louise. The carpal tunnel splint sounds helpful until you can learn any more. I am confident you will heal, and sending my hugs and prayers.
Sounds like puppy Nicole is starting to grow. I have seen pics of standard poodles standing up on their hind legs, towering over any humans. Even our half standard poodle is a really big guy. Good thing the poodles are on our side!
Nicki is getting to the fresh stage! Louise, anytime you're at the condo, let me know.....we could meet some place in between!
Very cute!
So alert, too!
Thanks....yes, alert she certainly is....this dog misses very little!
Thank you, Rosemary! I am sending you healing wishes as well.
Marilyn, Nicki is a bright-eyed beauty. I do hope we can meet soon. I miss being around my friends this summer!
Thank you. I'm getting better all the time. I'm very glad I had the surgery but 5 hours of anesthesia wil not l mean a quick fix. Swelling is quite reduced. Cliffie is completely himself again after his ordeal at about the same time. My bill was only $300, but his was about $4000.
Best to be a vet. ☺
At least the vet doesn't have to deal with insurance paperwork
Glad both you, Rosemary, & Cliffie are doing well! Louise, would love to see you, Hank & the girls!
Yikes, Rosemary! That is quite a bill! Glad you are both better!
Marilyn, we will work something out once we close the farm! I hope fall is beginning to have some color where you are!
Aww! I what a fun little girl!
The Rosemary and Clifford gardening team is back! I had taken the day off to finish tasks. Bags of mulch have been staring at me all summer. With my encouraging and yelpy partner I added to a swale and extended the mulch another two feet wide along a 30 foot border, almost extending it to the property line today. Fortunately the new neighbor is going to match the color and style of our fence. Fingers crossed that my beautiful trees and shrubs started over 20 years ago will not be harmed as they build their fence closer to the road than ours. Considering how hard it is to garden in the front yard with Clifford on a leash, I have to admit the neighbor will have a more usable lawn area for their dog and their toddler.
You're very lucky you have such a cooperative neighbor, Rosemary.....I'm hoping that whomever moves in nextdoor will be a good neighbor to me! Bear problems once again.....the bird feeders across the road from me were bent like pretzels! I hate that I have to be outside with Nicki at 11 at night!
I would think that the bear would not like to meet Nicki.
Oh My! I hope you are prepared in case you meet a bear. I wonder how pepper spray would work. I imagine everyone has heard about the bear attack in New Jersey. I haven't heard whether they learned the bear was ill through autopsy but that was one theory about why a brown bear would attack a human.
A rabid fox here in CT bit 5 people this week including a child on the school's playground....maybe bears get rabies, too.....I never heard that they did though......
Babysat for my granddog last night....played musical dogs, Oliver outside, Nicki in....Nicki up in bedroom, Ollie out in the hall.......finally got to sleep only to be awakened at 5am by son & DIL's alarms......really....who sets their alarms to go off on weekends at that time!
☺ He probably doesn't change it.
When I spoke to Garret last night, he said the alarms are programmed Mon-Fri. They forgot it was a holiday! I like my old alarm that has to be set each time i use it....less complicated....
