I'm assuming this is temporary (I hope so), but I just wanted to make sure it was DG and not that my computer just flipped out. The Banner still looks the same, but lists of Threads and all text within the Threads is now in a very narrow space with a huge white margin on the right and giant empty white space under my "Username".
Also, the Date/Time hangs over on the right, particularly where it says AM or PM.
Has this same thing just happened to anybody else out there???
Also just noticed when I clicked on Preview after typing my post, everything jumped to the right, now leaving a huge white margin on the left.
It felt much more balanced before, but that may have been on my computer & browser as opposed to some others.
I was recluctant to post so quickly since I just noticed it, but I decided I wanted to make sure it wasn't just my computer.
7/17 What Just Happened to the Page? Anybody Else Seeing It?
Nope you're not alone out there nutsaboutnature! Mine has done the same thing! I'm beginning to agree with the old adage…If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
Now I hope they fix it, 'cuz it sure looks broke now!!!!!

I agree!!!! Grrrr!!
Thanks, tim1 ~ I appreciate it!
I feel somewhat relieved now...I think.
Wow, you too, dillansnana? Okay, then I guess it's probably almost everybody.
It's everyone, and I've just sent a note to my tech counterpart to let her know things look uhhh, well...wonky.
My page looks fine, other than it's simply too WIDE, and I have to keep scrolling left/right to read the posts...and those blank margins on either side of the screen...
This is terrible. Personally I do NOT like the green color.
Gymgirl,
1. Are you viewing DG on a tablet or phone, or a laptop or traditional monitor?
and
2. If you're using a laptop or desktop monitor, what's your screen resolution set to? (If you don't know, I can help you figure that part out pretty easily.)
This is terrible. Personally I do NOT like the green color.
Ummm, the green color where specifically? We've always used green in various areas of the site, including hyperlinks (although it denoted read, rather than unread as it does now.
Terry ~ Thanks for the update. We really do appreciate you!
At first I thought my computer had gone a little wacko, but It didn't seem to be any where else.
I have not noticed a change in mine. I have to view at 150 to easily read the text, so I do have to scroll a little. I also have text set to larger, and am resolution at 1600x1200 on my desktop.
Terry Do you or Daves Garden have the capacity to notify all users that the site is experiencing technical difficulties or is under construction or some sort of general notice? That appears at the top of the home page?
Could this notice also be posted on the DG facebook page ?
Thanks in advance for your reply.
Well, let's just say that this wasn't an update and we aren't exactly sure why it's appearing this way for some users and not for others. I am reluctant to put up a message when something doesn't affect everyone; that tends to create more confusion than it avoids :-)
Not suggesting any course of action just wondering if DG has the capacity to notice everyone should this be deemed appropriate.
I noticed some 'wonkiness about the same time as this thread started, but now ok as far as I can discern.
Oops, I take that back! The sizing of more than the fonts has changed. Five photos no longer fit across the bottom of our July Blooms thread but are in two rows, three on top and then the other two. Wonky indeed!
Yes, we do have that capability, but we use it sparingly for two reasons:
1) If you use it too often, many begin to ignore it (the "little boy who cried wolf" effect :-); and
2) We've found that there is a "power of suggestion" phenomenon at work as well, and sometimes an alert will have people thinking/assuming that other things have also changed or moved when they haven't. Those are really frustrating conversations for everyone involved, and real issues and concerns can get overlooked in all the hubbub.
The text boxes are too small. The text in the message box is fine, but in the text boxes the print is much smaller. For me, it is hard to read. If I enlarged the page, I, too, will be scrolling.
Otherwise the design looks nice and appears to have had a lot of work and collaboration. I hope that the size of the text boxes gets repaired....
(edited for mis-spelling!)

my journal columns and font are all messed up and glitched as the font is now overlaping the photos column. anyone else experiencing this as well on their pc monitor?
It's a site-wide issue, affecting certain pockets of the site. Bear with us.
I don't know I was on about 2 to 3 hours ago and it did not look like it looks now. I sure wish these changes would get settled once and for all. I do not like the way these changes have been coming along. Looks like the old saying if it is not broke leave it alone is very true here with DG. And just paid my renewal.
Yeah, it has changed for me too. It's like the "tables" of the page are messed up. The "cell" of the table that houses the member names are as big as the "cell" that houses the posts. It didn't used to be that way, now my posts are ridiculously long, hehe, they were long before..lol
Just got on this evening, and after looking at a post or two...now my screen is behaving as nutsaboutnature states above.
This doesn't help with my psychotic episodes...and what's with the music??
Just adding that my screen is appearing as 'nutsaboutnature' posted.
Umm, there's no music :-)
I guess it is fixed now, because I don't see the problem. Maybe the width of the various parts of the display are not the most efficient choices, but I have no difficulty reading this thread. There does seem to be quite a bit of wasted space, that better use could be made of.

What should the screen resolution to be set at for best viewing?
Ok, you can now add me to the ones seeing a wonky screen!
Site looks fine on DW's computer, WIndows 7, Internet Explorer, look like complaints above on mine, Windows 8, Firefox. Please fix this ASAP!!!
riceke, it should be set to whatever is optimal for your screen. Mine is 1386 x 768. The techs did tell me that anything below 1280 x 720 may cause you to have to scroll left-to-right. (As will having your font set to a very large size.)
Has the issue been fixed yet? I'm still experiencing the same problems.
same probs here, too
Not yet - we are working on it this morning :-)
Terry,
I'm on my computer at work. Using Google Chrome, Windows, IE 9 Internet, network computer.
I'm seeing different screens:
Home screen looks like some of the space to the right hand side has decreased, but none on the left side. I can see all of the "New", "Message Board" "Who" "Last Post" and almost all of the search box column, except the red magnifying glass is cut off.
I can see all of the forum boxes I'm "watching" clearly, except the text is smallish.
Still about 3" of grey space on the left hand side of my screen.
When I jump to the "Discussion Forum" I can only see as far right as the time stamps in the "Last Post" column. AM and PM is out of view and I have to scroll over... Still a 3" grey space on the left hand side of my screen.
Finally, when I click on a Thread topic (Such as "Dave's Garden:7/17 What Just Happened to my Page...") I can only see as far right as VIEWS:2. Then I have to scroll to see VIEWS:252...
Hope this helps....
Linda
P.S. How do I check my screen resolution. I thought it was under the Control Panel, but I can't find it...
Thanks.
A major step backwards. The really narrow message window is awful. Sure hope it is temporary.
Actually, I tried reading my usual forums and it just hurt my eyes. I'm gone. Don't know when I'll be back. Too bad I did renew my membership last week.

Terry are you saying hang on help is on the way. I also have to scroll back and forth if I want to read it all and see who posted. Or the choice is shrink dink letters that I can't read. I am using a desk top with a 22 inch monitor. The text is using about half the screen.

Gymgirl, you have your DG font set to 20 points. (yikes!) Try reducing it and using your browser's zoom if you really need to have the font that big.
To determine your screen resolution, right-click anywhere on your monitor screen and you should see a link for "screen resolution" - click on it and it will tell you the current setting.

It was not an intentional change and is temporary.
I am noticing the same, where I didn't before, either because I just didn't notice, or it wasn't bothering me. I DO see it now, though.
