Kathy's new swap "Thoughts Of You"!! Anything goes!
This looks like a great one for crafters.
Can I join this merry band of chatters? I'm also hoping to do some sleuthing about some of ya'll that I don't know very well (yet) and find out what you like and don't like, info for some of the swaps - like the one you just linked to, Jaye.
Your more than welcome to join us! Glad you found us!
Come on over to the new room.
Morning everyone! Coffee is ready!
Your more than welcome to join us! Glad you found us!
Come on over to the new room.
Thank you, LK! :)
WOoooooooooooweeeeeee!!!!
Carole has found us!!!! Oh what a glorious morning to have venerable Carole in our midst of very loving sistahs!
(Yes, I'm feeling good this morning!)
We are blessed to have your presence, Carole. I think you're already aware that we call ourselves sistahs. Just an apt salutation for all women, we believe.
Welcome! Welcome!
Got lots to do today, think I'll have 3 cups of coffee LK.
Kel wants to help me in the garden, so I'm gonna "Carpe Diem" for sure! 2 trees and bulbs to be in the ground (Farmers Almanac deemed today as perfect)... put out pine straws...and getting rid of brambles.
Then when he's through with outside, he'd be replacing bathroom fixtures!!
Reward: His favorite Carnitas and he could have a soft drink to go with that!
Marion.. where are you?? Hope your house isn't floating!
Susan, please come out and play. You've been resting far too long.
Waving to all.. I'll be back later!
Again, so good to see you Carole!
I think Marion is down with her Sister and Mom?
Don't work too hard today Jaye, and don't forget the bounce in your pocket to ward off those skeeter! They are bad here!
Has anyone ever visited Belle's Garden? She has the most beautiful yard and is now making a memory garden for a golfing friend who passed away a year ago. It is going to be a really big event, lots of guests The garden is at the golf course and what a labor of love. Reminds me of the memory garden Sue made for Gigi. I was so impressed with it that I had to mention it here.
All is going fine here, just can't get myself out to work in the yard. Will have to check on my tomatoes though, they are ripening and hope to get a few to make us some
BLT's.
Well, thank you, Jaye. I'll be back. :)
Never heard of Belles Garden! Will have to Google it!
Nothing comes up in Google?
It's in a forum/thread here on DG somewhere. I've forgotten where I saw it though.
Boy it was hot today. It is 10:18, and it is still 96 degrees!
Hi Sue. I think I may have gotten plants from you in the past. Hostas maybe? I can usually remember those things but not this morning. :/
Wow, Linda. Hot! It is very cool here for this time of year. I think it has dropped into the 50s this early morning. The wonderful thing is the LOW humidity. Almost unheard of for July and August in our neck of the woods. We've yet to have much hot weather and I hope August doesn't jump up and bite us in the butt. :( They did say some of that Texas heat is heading our way later this week.
Habanero jelly sounds wonderful.
Ya'll have a good Sunday.

Hi Carol. I'm Barb from New Hampshire. I'm n the middle of moving so probably won't be posting too often but it is great to welcome you here. We are a great bunch and have fun with each other...
Morning everyone.
Carol in the 50's sounds nice.
Oh Sue, I love Habanero jellies! Bought a dozen jars at a craft show 2 years ago, and there are only 2 left!! I use it on bbqs too!!
I'll take 70s.. 60s.. and even 50s... You're in a good place, Carole!
Hitting the high 90s today and Kel won't be a happy helper! Got more straw to put out and he's supposed to prepare 4 spots for transplanting next week.
He said he's glad I follow the moon now, as he'd be getting some break. I'm just thankful that he's able to help some with what's piled on him.
When he complains of the heat, LK, I told him that at least we don't have yours!
Still haven't planted any veges here, Pegi. Guess my church sister spoils me! She shares with me whatever she plants, and boy, she does that in a grand scale! Her DH is just too happy to bag whatever I need!
Hey Barb!! You'd be packing that sewing machine last?
what I wouldn't give for a day of fiftys
Popping in to say Good Morning before I get elbow deep in peaches for the day. Trying out a new peach bbq sauce recipe on the side, so sent the hubs up to the deep freeze for something for us to grill with it!
Good luck with the peaches! let us know how it turns out!
Hi Barb. Thanks for the welcome. I'm guessing you made those purses in your avatar? Gee, what a nice bunch of gals. Why have I never gotten over here? Hmmmm.... But I do get chatty at times so just slap me down when I do that.
It's still only 72 right now and it's almost noon. I'm getting so spoiled! But mentally, I'm trying to prepare for a rude awakening in August.
Peach bbq sauce does sound good. That's funny, lanakila, adding the meat to go with the sauce. :)
The only veggies I've planted so far this year are an heirloom tomato, a hot banana pepper, a 'Giant Marconi' pepper, onions, a lone purple cabbage - and I always have various herbs (lots of herbs). My leeks have bloomed and gone to seed. We do have a lovely Farmers' Market here.
About to head back north, hate to leave TN but it sure has been a loverly week with the grands and greats. Heard it's cold at home so not looking forward to that. Maybe our house sold while we were down here think we could be so lucky?
Karen, Barb makes those bags for the kids at the cancer hospitals. She makes them to hold crayons and a coloring book, and she donates them for the kids! Aren't they wonderful?
Belle's Garden is on DG. I believe it is in Beginning Landscaping. Don't know how I happened to come upon it, but got so involved in looking at her pictures. She just started the Memory Garden for a Friend. My yard looks like the local junk shop compared to hers. Oh well, one of these days!!!
Linda, did you mean me? Carole? :) I agree. Those bags are wonderful and they would surely brighten the day of a child with cancer. I know they love them.
Pegi, I'm glad to know where that thread is located. I knew I saw it somewhere. Gotta go look again.
Gorgeous Cindy!!! He did good....
Lanakila, here's a recipe you might like.. http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/fresh-peach-salsa
Cindy, you truly have a green thumb and very artistic fingers! You have a beautiful postage size garden. In my next life, I want something small like that!
Karen, I saw the pics of Amelia's first birthday party on FB! I pray that you'd get an offer for your house soon.
Pegi, I am lucky that our place is well hidden, for we don't plan our garden well. The style, is "Let's plop the plant there!" The hung windchimes gave its' only cohesive look!!
Kel calls it the "Complex Avant Garde" style. I think it's more Hippie like :(
Yes, we have a resident "Bag Angel".. aka Barb!! She's so giving with her time and pocket just to ease the kids' hospital stay.
Carole, our LK here is great at gathering donated quilt blocks and putting them together herself.. all for charity. If I'm not mistaken, she's also making Quilts of Valor.
Then there's Thunder (BarefootT) who donates self made kiddies' quilts.
Their generosity truly humbled me.
It's been a good day for us. We bonded for a couple of hours in the garden. Yes LK, I didn't forget the Bounce, and I even sprayed some Off for added protection. Big macho Kel suffered later!
He cut down volunteer maple trees and trimmed the 2 Cypress trees besides preparing a bed for more amaryllis. The heat didn't bother him, just the mosquitoes!
Later, I 'upgraded' his treat, from a promised Mickey D to a meal at a Chinese restaurant!
Sounds like you got a lot done Jaye!
Gee, Cindy, you made me very homesick. We lived in Redding for 17 years. Not far from Marysville. What a lovely garden you have there. I sometimes get very weary of our half acre. Especially this time of year. You know how one plant leads to another, etc, etc. Can't complain about the heat and humidity this year though. Yet. Still, I think I may become a semi-retired gardener one of these days soon.
I call my gardening style Messy Eclectic. I think it must be similar to Complex Avant Garde. :)
Happy Birthday Jaye and my fondest wishes for many many more!!! Enjoy!!
Oh man I missed your bday Jayegirl, HAPPY belated Birthday!!!! My grandma's bday was July 28th ^_^
Dug up my Dahilas at my mom's, they just were not doing good at all, only about 8 inches tall, so now I need to find a place in my garden. After seeing what sunlight my garden gets, I'm going re-do it all over for next year. Plus I'm going to take over the other half of the yard. I'm getting lots of seeds from people on TPE, so I need more room. Doug will be happy because he won't have to mow, lol.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAYE ♥♥♥
LOL oh plz forgive me I'm still brain dead from all the driving......HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAYEGIRL!!!!!
