Hey Cody, doing good here. How about you?
*Sweet Interruptions* Room 263
my bill is so high, brcause I have central air and 2 window unirs on. the house sits smack dab in the middle of he sun we, or rather I avoid the subject of mony
yep, just came home and my air isn't working. 83 in the house and rising
No trees here either to speak of. Two ash trees and lots of mesquite bushes.
got the airman on the way
My son-in-law (or should I say step son-in-law) is a A/C and heating man and boy he sure is kept busy, especially during the heat waves. We don't have central air, and now I know one reason is cost. Sure would be nice to have it though.
it's fixed. $150.00 but its fixed!!!
I'm home!!! With a foot that is so swollen I can't wear my shoes. I did end up with a cortisone shot and the doc says it will hurt for 3 days or so. I can live with that if it goes away then... If it doesn't, he said he has other treatments. Last resort would be to cut the nerve. I guess this one is important to your balance.
I do have some news. Norm and I are moving about 40 miles southeast of where we are now. We used to live in the Derry/Londonderry area of NH and now we are moving to north Manchester which is the next town. It is really a city but we will be on the outskirts. We found a building with two bedrooms (one to sleep in and one to quilt in!!!!) and the heat/hot water is included in the rent. No more shoveling or mowing lawns for Norm. He has certainly earned the respite after the last four years... Also his job territory has shifted east as well so this will give him a shorter commute. The boys are growing older and don't really need Grammy to watch them anymore. Their lives and also my DD's and SIL's lives are so busy now. It will be good for me to be back closer to all my quilting friends. My friend Elaine is going to be upset I think but we need to do what is best for us. We are going to do it slow and easy. we start rent there Aug 1 and end here Aug 31 so that will give us a month to get things done. Lots of purging going to happen. So if I don't post as often, it's because I'm packing or tossing or sleeping!!! LOL
Glad to hear you found a new place closer to work for Norm. Is it closer to the Dr.'s also? Please take your time, and get help for the heavy things.
It is located near the interstate (but you can't see or hear it) which makes it very convenient for Norm. His territory has shifted from the Vermont and all of New Hampshire one to eastern NH and the lower third of Maine. So it will work out good for both of us. We won't be doing any of the heavy stuff - that's for sure. I can't and he is not allowed due to the cancer operation on his arm. I'm just glad we have kids around to help....I wouldn't want to have to pay a mover....
Wow!!! A piece of welcome news Barb! Norm won't have to spend too much time on the roads, and you'll be in quilting heavens. Paradise come winter, when the snow shovel will be history. Wishing all the best in your new surroundings.
Don't forget to update your addy.
Welcome back Cody. Your a/c bill got to be low. With the rising gas prices... consider yourself lucky. Hey Alex!! Waving!!
Sue, can you take pics of the kids with their zoo, at the fair? I hope they both get some blue ribbons.
Good luck to NOT spending our DHs money!! Lolol!! Yep, send their behinds to work and we do the spending.
Marion, my father was the one that speared me towards a love of reading. He didn't do that with the rest of his children, thinking the younger ones would follow my passion.
He'd make sure I read the daily papers and the trips to the local library are almost weekly. Too poor to buy any new books.. but I spent lots of time on the bookstore floor till I have enough money saved for one!
LK, I hear you sistah. It's only about a year ago, that we see a reduction in our cooling bill. We live like you, no shade until I planted a fast growing pawlonia tree. Now we have a tad of shade over the bedroom.
Both kitchen windows are replaced with double paned ones, since then, we set the a/c to 72. Used to be 68.
I couldn't get on yesterday! The pc was acting up. and I tried to use the tablet, but DG won't recognise my password there!
Glad to be back on and seeing Sis having another issue!! Lolol!! At least you're not sweating this time!!
BBL!
I am sitting here counting my many blessing about my excess number of trees as our utility bill has been low....so far. I will tell myself to remember that when I am cleaning up all the limbs that fall and the huge pile of leaves we contend with in the fall. :-
Yesterday was a fun day. We went shopping for school supplies...not only for the returning students but the teacher. It was funny watching the GDs reaction to the supplies Kim was buying for her classroom. Yes, Kim spent a "small fortune" out of her pocket for basic supplies that there apparently are no funds to cover. Sad!!!
The girls had been riding with me and Kim but when it was time to go with the mom, Catie-Beth got almost in her mom's car and yelled: "Wait!" She came back to my car and after giving us more hugs and kisses asked Kim if she could look under the seat.....asked why..reply:"I left my dignity under there" You figure it out as I sure can't. Then went off happily in her own little world...good thing they know her!!!!
That is too cute Marion! Let me know if you've found CB's dignity! Such a precocious little woman. I bet there were other unexpected pearls of "self proclamations" from her that left you wondering....
Ross sure would have enjoyed his grandaughters.
Kim is an honorable, compassionate teacher that can't see her students struggling.
State govts. priorities have gone to the wayside!
NC state cuts back teachers' pay, already ranked 34th and school fundings right up to college. We are slowly becoming the state where only the rich can afford tertiarly schooling :(
There'll be less help from the teachers now I'm sure, but I'll do my part in donating some much needed supplies at the local elementary.
Thanks for bringing that up Marion.
You are right Jaye, she realizes some just can't afford some of the items needed during the year so she has a "borrowing box". Surprisingly enough some of the parents who are better off have sent donations for this box. Teachers everywhere are going through this..such a shame.
CB did find a little frog in Target and tried to rescue it. She found a person who worked there and wouldn't stop until the little frog was captured and turned loose outside. Certainly entertaining when she is around. Abbi is settling down more so just rolls her eyes at her sister's antics. What a pair!!
Good Sunday Morning sistah!!
You're taking a break Cody, but I'm sure the minute Alex is at his dad's, he'd be wanting to come home!
Marion, you should do a journal on CB and Abbi's shenanigans! They certainly have very fertile minds..
Forgot to tell my sistahs of the a big bag of tomatoes I had 'stolen' from my visit with Carolyn. Not wanting them to rot away, I think I'll attempt to make a sauce with them. Got my provencal herbs, and all I need are fresh garlic.
Have a great relaxing Sunday, sistahs.
Fresh sauce sounds good Jaye!
Friday night my cousin's husband took us to The Wildhorse Casino for dinner, I had all you can eat Lobster, yum yum but I only had two. I wanted to sample the other good looking foods they had, lol.
Yesterday we went to a lake called Jubilee in the Umatilla National Forest, the weather was perfect, the water was awesome and the fishing was great. it was catch and release because the fishing is so good but then you catcha lot of little ones. I had a big one on and lost it right at the boat, my cousin thinks it was about 2lbs, she got a good look at it before it flipped off the hook :(......I also caught a lot of SUN, lol.
Just a few pix of the Umatilla Forest..................in the last pix you can tell which way the wind always blows, poor trees are bare on one side, lol.
I can no longer sleep without my CPAP. I never used to use it but when I started dating hubby 7 years ago, he couldn't get a good night's sleep because it woke him up whenever I stopped breathing. I decided it wasn't worth it for me to have a stroke when I'd finally found someone who made life worth living, so I started using it faithfully. Totally worth it! :)
There is NO way I could live in this house without A/C. We have a 150 year-old white oak in the back yard, but it doesn't cast shade until after supper. Otherwise, the whole house is in full sun. It doesn't help that these modern houses don't have enough windows to get a good cross-ventilation going. The power bill is insane, but it's one of those bills we just have to grin and bear.
I always try to donate school supplies at the "off" times of the year. People are really good about donating at the beginning of the year, and at the holidays, but about October and March, supplies start to get pretty thin. Another thing that teachers often spend their personal monies on are books. I donate books through BookMentors.org and the teachers always send such heartfelt thank you notes. I was lucky in that most of my schools were run by the Dept of Defense (Army brat) so we were never short or classroom resources, art supplies, or even tissues.
It has finally stopped raining EVERY day, so the garden has gone wild. I haven't been able to get out there for the last two weeks and I'm dreading it! Doesn't look like anything is a total loss, so it's mostly just tying up tomato plants and weeding, weeding, weeding that needs to be done.
Cindy, love the view, and those frogs! Sounds like your having a great time. Glad to hear you had some good lobster!
Lanakila, funny how those darn weeds can outgrow the plants we want!
here is a pic of a wind chime Betty sent me for Gig's Garden.
Jaye yum on the tomato sauce
Cindy sounds fun all you can eat lobster ! wow .
Marion to funny on the little frog in Target LOL so cute.
why do weeds grow more then my plants ??? GLad to hear it stopped raining for you Ianakila.
good tomorrow to you all
good night my friends stay well and safe
Cody, that is so pretty! Love the roosters an chickens!
I am doing well. Just really tired from watching the Grandkids. My son will be here this afternoon to pick them up. Been a long time since I have had little ones around for a whole week, don't know where they find all the energy! Dylan is 15 months, and MaryAnne just turned 6.
Gardening between the drops! Looks clear here for a bit.
Miss you all, so, so busy!
Morning everyone! Who has more coffee???
Grab the last cup before I finish the pot off LK! Sure need to refuel today.
Morning sistahs. Cindy, you need to make that trip to Sissy's often! Seems you really had a good time apart from the smoke.
Wonderful pictures! You need to find out Cookie's secret in getting a tan without a tanning bed or sun. Now where's a pic of Sissy? Is she too shy?
Your vast garden and pond need your constant attention Cookie. How is Bill doing now? When will his next check up be? Hope he'll get an A plus.
Did Betty make that windchime, Sue? That is beautiful and lend a graceful presence among Gigi's flowers for sure.
Awww Cody, bless your heart girl. You still have that apron. Don't preserve it, use it!! Dmail me your address, I want to do something else for you. Got to write it down here so I commit myself to it!! Lol!!
Jaye got good intentions, but she's kinda scatterbrain and tends to forget things!
Sis Kathy, may this week be accident free for you! How's the sleep study.
Carolyn's husband didn't do his at a hospital, but at home. I was there when the "Liberty" (medical supply) technician drop off a portable monitor.
It records his oxygen intake, heart rate... how hard he's breathing..and also his snorings. Imagine that. But of course at a sleep study lab, he'd be tested for more.
Lanakila, my church does a yearly school bag drive. Each member buys a backpack and stuff it with school essentials. Then hand them to the church town's elementary school and let the principal distribute them.
Kel reminded me that our town of 2,000 has more than a dozen churches and he's pretty sure half of them are doing the same drive.
So, it will be a good idea, if I were to contribute during the 'thin' periods. Good suggestion there!
As for donating books. We were doing that, and dvds as well, to the local library for years until Kel's business crashed.
This town has cut its budget by half and I doubt it get much from the state. Sad thing when the town's priority was to erect a clock tower, and build a 'white elephant' visitors center.
There's no need for a fancy clock tower as where it's erected, a bank is next to it, with a huge electronic clock blinking away time!
As for the visitors center. It's inconveniently located, away from highway traffic!
At all times, you'd see only one vehicle at the center, and that's the worker's.
Now the city council wanted to build a larger parking lot.. go figure! They said the 'pork belly' money had to be used, or else it would be returned to the state. What a waste of our tax money.
LK, I went out to pick up some Turks Cap bulbils for you, and all sprouted along the leaves' axis too soon!! The rains did that!
Sorry sistah..
No worries Jaye, maybe next year?
I SLEEP STUDY PEOPLE WERE MEAN. SARA HAD A SLEEP OVER SATURDAY, MIKE HAD TO CALL THE NEIGHBORS TO COMR STAY BECAUSE I WOKE UP AT 2 WITH CHEST PAINS AND COULDN;T BREATH. HOSPITAL SHOT MR UP WITH DEMERAL, THE 2 NEEDLES OF MORPHINE AND SENT ME HOME. TOLD THEM THERE WAS A HORSE AND SNAKES IN MY ROOM AND TO HAVE SECURITY COME KILL THE,M
Hope your ok now?
Sis, thank God it happened at the hospital! What if you were at home?
