11;33 my time here. The SU wants to be woken (waked???) up about midnight.........he's leaving for NY. I just went in and told him I wasn't staying up till then. He said "I won't be able to get to sleep anyway". LOL
I had a fierce headache when we got home about 10:30. Took 3 Advil and it's better now. Part of it was from ice cream and the other I don't know. Plus the ice cream gave me an internal upset too. almost didn't make it home and was thinking of stopping in a cornfield before we got here. Thankfully it didn't come to that. I'm not lactose intolerant, I just can't deal with ice cream or frozen custard or even ice milk (think Dairy Queen) anymore. Sends my innards on a bathroom marathon. Can eat cheese and yogurt, so I don't know what it is about ice cream. Not like I need it in the first place.
Was at the sale barn only about an hour this afternoon. I was relegated to the back helping tag calves; my first time doing that. Wasn't too bad, but we only had 109 calves, so that was a good number for a first timer like me. The new girl that usually helps tag is being taught the computer stuff that Norma and I usually do, so in case either one of us can't make it for whatever reason, Kelsey can fill in and do it.
Guess I'll go get horizontal, since I ran out of lives in Candy Crush on the iPad.
NIGHT OWLS ONLY - OPEN 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. EST
Hi rockette ... I knew I'd forget someone yesterday. :(
Anna, who is SU? I guess I'm not familiar with that abbreviation.
Three cats out the door. Cat herder indeed.
Fell asleep about 6 pm last night and slept until almost 1 am. Don't know how to act. Plus I had a nap yesterday. I do generally get enough sleep - just not on any kind of schedule I guess.
Well, have a great Thursday. I'm off to the grocery - after daylight, of course. :)
SU is Spousal Unit. LOL
Who, by the way, is 2 hours gone by now.
And I guess I will go back to bed. It is wonderful, I have the ceiling fan on HIGH!!!! He gripes about my having the fan on unless it is 105 and not a breath of air. Men!!!!
Gotcha. :)
Hee hee. I was thinking significant udder. :D
I've been up for about thirty minutes. Like a fool I set the coffee pot to go off at 6:50! I have the dogs and cats to care for two doors down. One of the dogs has been crated overnight so I am up early. Carole, I made it to sleep just before midnight. Can't say I could sleep your hours, like the sun, my polarity would have to reverse completely (?!).
Is that your neighbor's dog? I know you've mentioned one before.
I have heard a very sorrowful sound coming from the dog in the yard behind us. The owners have always been kind and interact. I've not known it to ever have been tied up, but I couldn't see it yesterday and I fear it is so. Might have to investigate myself today if that sound continues. That's how in get n trouble folks. Stay tuned. :/
But!!
Have a schmaaahhhh velous day.
Hello All who are bathed in moonlight (too frequently)
First let me say that is one fine pup you got there Carole, perfect and would make a most excellent Hallmark card model.
About the dairy -- the response and the severity of response can be "dose dependent" and it also is food-type dependent. So..... If you love the foods containing lactose, don't give yourself a huge bolus of it or choose the right sort -- like a harder cheese as opposed to a ripened. Small curd yogurt as opposed to large. If I had to go do my business in a corn field I PROMISE you that there would be a mystery sound reported on TV soon after. I don't even want to think about what sort of stomach ERUPTION it would take to get me into a corn field during the DAY - when I could SEE what is slithering toward me....... If I actually had to go into one at night...it would have to be that there was a lethal event about to happen. I know what you are all thinking ...."if you gotta go bad enough........" But, I am telling you -I will literally burst first. I had to take my son's dog out during a midnight emergency ( he is blind - the dog that is ) (and a littler dementia) anyway....I was on the gravel drive....it was so dark a ways beyond the house that I could not see my hand. Sam HAS for some reason to climb up on leaves or brush to do his business ..... He got a few feet off the path into the woods before I could lift him up and out. (I should have put him on a leash but he is so normally slow and cautious....I knew I could control him -- I just wasn't paying attention in my hunt for slithery things on the ground--- I had to step into the woods.... I was like a screaming banshee ....poor Sam. Scared that crap right out of him! What sort of animal the neighbors imagined was loose in the woods --- who knows but it will likely be a kid-scary story told round the fire years from now.
I am in bed. Hope sleep will not elude me tonite.
HhhaahahHhAhaha. Rosie I was thinking the same thing about the cornfield. Musta been really bad. Got my BF taking 20,000 billion active cultures/day for his crabby gut syndrome. He hasn't had a problem in months. Of course as you noted it helps to watch what goes in as well, and I cook with a minimal amount of fats and lots of vegetables. I read the "anti-inflammatory diet for dummies" recently and much of it was news to him. He has been loathe to admit the problem.
Rockette... I LOVE your garden sign! Made me smile this morning.
Spent most of my day chasing after other people's critters. Not a hard day's work, but I was exhausted when I got back around 5 pm. Passed out on the loveseat and woke around 7. Only to dash out the door and stArt he cycle all over again. The cup o joe I made before fell asleep at 5 was on the coffee table (apropos!) and reheated when I woke. Left the half full cup at my friend's house. D'oh!!!
Enjoying the mild weather. Could really stand to have some weeds pulled out there.. just have to DO it. Ack.
One of the young rabbits in my yard comes when I call. It is the sweetest thing and leaves me smiling like nothing else all day. It is always accompanied by a chipmunk! Strange pair, but cute. Definitely very cute.
Well I have a new ailment with one of the senior cats, and he quite literally slept on my back last night. No wonder I was exhausted today. My bad for feeling sorry for him and secluding him in my Room.
Tomorrow I think I will hide somewhere and try to get some work done. Wish I could put an air conditioner in my "hidey hole" in the yard, the play house left behind by our 'LL. I converted it to a study last year, but it gets too hot in the summer. Had ideas about putting up some paneling, sealing it off. It's really nice to have a place to hide out. :)
Here are a few pics of the inside before the remodel. Haha.
The cat is wanting to sleep on my head. I'd better shut this down so I
Can defend myself.
Good morning!!!
Who's up?
This message was edited Aug 9, 2013 1:19 AM
I might be up , I don't know about awake .
Indeed a bunch of(that) reminds me of out of Diapers at 2.8 back to Diapers at 8.2 ...
Bad joke , Salmonella typhi in the corn from human waste ... Typhoid fever .. EEK !!!
Well it is all about green waste use,,, and a greener earth (couldn't resist ) Oh Gross huh )..
Anyway I like the bunny chipmunk story , (my minds gone childish) already?
If they "hit it off " maybe they will start a new species .. ? would that be
a "buip-unk" ???
Hey a secret panel passage way to hide out in ,, do dut do dut .. scary movie " Silence of the Lambs :" You butterfly lover you ...

That sweetie of a dog lives next door. She's sometimes neglected (no water, no food, etc.) so I help her out as much as I can. I've already had to call Animal Control once. :(
Lightning and thunder here right now. And very big raindrops. Nashville had flooding yesterday. They got something like 7 inches of rain in a short period of time. We only had around an inch.
A fox ran through the backyard yesterday. S/he jumped over the fence and continued through the yard next door, then out of sight. I haven't seen any foxes for awhile. I sometimes worry about the three cats but they picked up the scent so maybe they'll remember that.
See ya'll later.
Good morning all!
Missingrosie-funny. A mystery sound reported soon after on TV...
Amanda - love your hideout. Could you install a window air conditioner or portable a/c? Too cute not to enjoy.
Juhur7 - wish we had butterflies. I am sure we do but we don't see them like in the past. I saw some of your flowers on another thread and the electric orange daylily is stunning.
Cville - send rain our way! I can't imagine leaving a dog without food or water. You are it's guardian angel.
Anna_z...she must be z-z-z-zing.
I am out the door to work. Today I am done at noon so I can play.
Pics of some sand sculptures on fort Myers beach.
This message was edited Aug 9, 2013 4:35 AM
Wow those sand sculptures are something else. How long does it take to complete and how many working on it? A lot of hard work for something that is at the mercy of the weather - and during hurricane season too.
Have to go to a funeral service tomorrow in Lincolnton - a hike from here. One of my husband's colleagues. Only 54. Got sick very fast -- not much time to reconcile the illness with the outcome. He and his wife came to Durham to see about a lung transplant but it all happened too quick for it to come to fruition.
I had to find something appropriate to wear to the service - and just couldn't in the closet. So I went to small shop in Durham that always seems to have something to meet the need and got a shirtwaist - sort of 40's - 50's (??). The shop is called Vaguely Reminiscent and so a lot of vintage looking styles. Anyway, what I am getting to is that I found myself thinking that the dress I settled on would be good for other similiar occasions and whenever one pops up - I can wear again. A funeral dress. I can't believe those thoughts crossed my mind. It is not the first time I had to shop for something appropriate for a funeral or wedding or whatever -- but it IS the first time I thought about it being my "go to" dress for other similar occasions ---- is this a sign of decline??
Unfortunately I had a couple of those outfits lined up in my closet. Between 1996 and 2008 all of my great aunts, uncles, grandparents, and mother died. Father passed when I was a baby.
I haven't thought about needing an outfit in years.
But is it a sign of decline? Mmm, maybe part of your response to the shock of loss. Sorry, it's never a good time, saying goodbye. Especially to someone who should have had many more years to go. :/
You don't suppose threads like this happen because of people who wake up in the middle of the night to go pee , or to talk about people dying? .. Emotions are a pain in the butt , but that is only my opinion . th
Yes I know what I can do with that too .. what a world huh ?
Truth is I am as happy as Algae in water , whatever that is suppose to mean ..
Well , since I don't know what I am talking about ,, I am off to something other ..
I think this thread happened because you and I needed a place to sleep walk/talk while everyone else was sleeping. Then we bumped into a bunch of other people sleep walking and talking.
Usually I am waking up to take my dog out. Or to push a cat off me. Haha. That reminds me of once, I was so disgusted that we packed up and stayed overnight at a hotel, just so I could hide from the critters. HA!
Is this what people with children do?
That is what my father use to do that (hotel) all the many , many years ago .. ""Kids Are Gonna Drive Me Nuts !!! Oh for a penny every time I heard that from someone ..
rockette; great pics of sand sculpture , my aunt and uncle use to live there ..
I don't know about the children question ., scary- huh...
Luv the sandcastles. Definitely lots of time on their hands.
Just my observation: funerals certainly have gotten a lot more casual than they used to be.
Looks like it rained again here overnight. Such different weather this year.
Don't feel chatty so just checking in. Good night or good morning, all.
Another crappy night with crappy sleep. This is the pits.
Well in contrast , Good Morning , It's Monday and time to put on a cheerful mind and face , and face the first day of the week cheerfully ,
When Pigs Fly !!! Who makes these things up , anyway ...
Well try again later, a magic eight ball ...lol
Hi Anna. I was ready to pull my hair out last night I was so frustrated. Hope you found some rest finally.
The situation with my dog that had me up and down three or five times a night is much improved, and I am so thankful.
Good morning everybody!
Thanks for the contrast Ju. I was wondering which face to put on:
"Puts on a face that she keeps in a jar by the door."
Good morning, Eleanor Rigby and all.
Good Morning! I can't sleep so I have decided to sit on the deck and look at the meteor showers....spectacular.
I'm glad someone can see it. Too much cloud cover here. :(
I'm fading, but I wanted to say Good morning. We are having some nice rain, and I believe it may be good sleeping weather as well.
Check you later. Still have some Zoo Chores.
Are you being looked over , or looked at as dinner , by iggy ,, the Iguana in that avatar LOL
MMMM ""I love my mommy """
I always have the feeling if domestic cats were larger ? we all might be in trouble ,, hot dogs and Hamburgers ,, on 2 ...lol
I have heard that you don't ever want to die with a cat around because the cat is smart and practical and knows to eat you while you are still fresh. A dog will starve to the last possible moment. Opinion? Is that nonsense?
Going back to old conversation because I have not been here in a few nights :
Ju - Agree emotions are a pain but not sure it is in the butt region - that is more likely to be a
hemorrhoid or a swallowed toothpick
Of course won't toss emotions -- if not for the pesky things we may as well be a table leg
I thought decline (in youthful thinking and sensibilities) because my mother had a "funeral outfit" -- of course she had bloomers strictly for when she went to the doctor
I can't get a stump grinder type person to return a call! Got that magnolia stump interfering with my Zen garden progression. Definitely feeling " un " Zen-like.
Got some oldies on real low ...earth angel..earth angel...the one I adore.
..
How about ; Hush-a -Bye.. Hush-a-Bye.. Oh My Darling , Don't You Cry , Guardian Angels Up Above , Know , That Your The One I Love .
OR how about the Stroll !!!!
This time of morning though ? how about ,, Lull-a Bye..♪♪♪♪♪♫♫♫♪♪♪. Lull-a Bye♪♪♪♪♪♫♫♫♪♪♪ ,, How about teaching one How to get some Shut -a - eye ♪♪♪♪♪♫♫♫♪♪♪ ^_^
Insomnia seems to be here to stay...♪♪♪♪♪♫♫♫♪♪♪ Even if I'd rather be dreaming far away ..
Lull-a-Bye♪♪♪♪♪♫♫♫♪♪♪ ,,Lull-a-Bye ♪♪♪♪♪♫♫♫♪♪♪ ... Oh my Goodness ,, sleeps a lie .. ♪♪♪♪♪♫♫♫♪♪♪
All I can do is wonder why ....♪♪♪♪♪♫♫♫♪♪♪

Been tossing and turning since 2 am. Yuck!!!!! 4:20 here now and I am up for the day, most likely. A thunder shower going on, so that means I will have to milk wet cows. I HATE milking wet cows.
More cloud cover ... can't see the Perseid meteors again tonight. :(
So ... (very) early morning poetry and wet cows. What can I possibly add to that??? lol.
Carole, I got nothin. ;)
Have a good day evabody. Wet cows and all.
Special kind of calamity I must attend, not quite cause for the black dress ensemble:
Convertible has stretched apart at a seam on it's fine German OWtomobile rigging (did you get the accent?). I guess maybe this one was made in Mexico. It's just a Volkswagen, but it has been mine since I drove it off the lot in 2002 thinking to myself, "I can't believe they're letting me drive this car off the lot." :)
My first car purchase. How to mend a seam like this great cause for debate and consternation. I've seen a woman in town driving this model. Hers is black. I have been unimpressed by the stitching across the seam on hers which was done nicely but with some hideous color between masking tape tan and pumpkin orange.
That's my project for today! More phone calls, estimates, etc. Big BIG rain overnight, so the bandaid for now is a tarp in a lovely shade of blue.
Yah (appropriate accent here), that is annoying when you can't get a car repaired. Well, it's shiny and looks well-kept like any pride and joy would. I wish I still had my Volvo. I loved that car but someone (uninsured, of course) came flying out of a parking lot in CA, crossed two lanes of traffic, plowed into the side of me and that car became "parts" somewhere in the land of wrecked cars. :(...
I know, it's after 6 am somewhere ... so shoot me.
Breaking the no trespassing sign to say - "POW!!!"
it is still six o'clock somewhere. ;)
xox
Hey Celebration Time !!! The WAR is over !!!
Jump to the future ;; Hey Diddle Diddle , Gonna Play My Fiddle, Like I Ain't Got Nothing To Lose !!!
All right it's ""PARTY TIME"" Wondering toward what 1950 is gonna bring now !!!???
Just read an interesting article about the images. One taken by a professional photographer, considered one of the most iconic images of the 20th century. The other image taken by a federal employee is public domain as it was taken while the man was employed and on duty.
One man made his career that day. Maybe the federal employee received a pension. Or a nice watch when he retired.
The first was taken slightly to the left , The second closer up from the right, as the photographer was looking at them .
The obvious the photo are both in Black&White .
The man in the white suit and tie in the background is in the same place according to the road walk white stripe on the ground ..
People in the background of the second appear to be watching , as though the picture is staged
How about that ?
Oh,,, The first photo is the real , the original , the second is staged with possible actors ..
Another possible the Walgreens sign says Walgreens & CO ... Right above the real Walgreens Drugs
Walgreens did NOT use the the Walgreens &Co LOGO Until the 1980's
