Good grief Ju! Snap outta that mood!

Hiya Evelyn, been thinking of you. :)

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

Not the polka! The Tarantella!

Yes, New York born and bred.
Or is that bred and born?
And who or what does bred refer to?
Ok...conceived, born, reared and then yes...bred .......BUT NOT BEFORE I WAS MARRIED!
(That's in case my father's spirit is floating round here somewhere...)

Brooklyn Girl
14 siblings My mother had 5 and my father had 14. ( so you see I am right to be careful with the 'bred' word -- there ain't no fooling him.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

English and Scotch-Irish here. Hmmmm, born in the South but after decades on the West Coast, I consider CA my home. The lovely casual lifestyle gets under your skin after awhile. Miss that. I like TN ... most of the time. At least it rains more. Wish I was walking on the beach in southern Oregon right now. One of fave destinations. Beautiful and soooo few people. Sometimes I like people and sometimes I don't. Dicey.

So glad to hear the pooch is doing better, Amanda.

That's a big bunch o' siblings, Rosie. :) We're a wee clan.

Off to make coffee. Toodaloo ~~~~~

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

No much of a night owl clan here today. I guess that's good sign... either the night owls take to the streets on the weekend or you are getting some much needed sleep. :)

Carole you were awake extra early yesterday I noticed. I also wanted to say how pretty you foliage plants are together above. I've started appreciAting foliage plants more in the garden as My jungle at times just looks like a sea of green. FOTV gave me a canna a couple of years ago with striking reddish purple leaves and I love how it shows up In the rest of the chaos.

it's lovely outside. I fell asleep on the couch as I was too tired to go to bed earlier. Snoopy and I went out to greet the baby bunnies from my yard. They are becoming brave an going into TH flower bed at the mailbox. I suspect they may Hav gone farther than that, maybe into the street and/or across the street to the park to mingle with the neighborhood rabbits. Coming home yesterday evening one of them darted out from the right side of th road and ran diagonally across TH street as if to get ahead of me. As if!!! S/he'd have been a gonner if I didn't drive like an old lady in this neighborhood and of course slamming on th breaks didn't hurt either. Bunny mAde it back to our side of th street. I heard Court's voice in my head saying that it was "not a good thing" that they were straying to the front flower bed. It's been a been long time sinc e I got upset enough to keen over a critter down in th road. Sure hope they look both ways.

Boring, right?

I'll have to come up with more exciting things to talk about in the middle of the night.

Who's up?

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Just in from the streets.

The cats let me sleep in awhile longer this morning. Thanks, Amanda, I'm a big lover of variegated and colorful foliage. Chartreuse green and purple are a fave color combo.

Back tomorrow morning. :)

Google doesn't known what you're talking about. Neither do I, but you warned of that. I am going to turn off some lights.

"In summer, the presence of such ice crystals indicates the presence of stratospheric cirrus clouds, which can indicate an approaching cold front and strong lines of thunderstorms ahead of that front. As the cold air behind the cold front displaces summer heat, the temperature can drop so quickly that spring or summer heat can be followed by a flash freeze. This combination has led to the folklore that a ring around the moon indicates bad weather to come. The halo is not a 100% reliable predictor, but its presence does come close to the reliability of many 7-day forecasts."

Hey I know that one ,, That's how great grandfather made ice in the cellar ...
Did I get it right?

Humm Elfie is up.

Really mean Dominos man made poor Elfie work for hours, standing on her feet, for no pay at all, standing in the pouring rain, hawking pizza and sodas at a 50`s sockhop in the park... Poor, poor Elfie......

Now my feets hurt, my wings are drooping, hair is on strike, and back hurts,,, poor Elfie needs a vacation....

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

My great grandfather probably didn't have a cellar - the water table and so forth in Sicily. I know he made olives -- and he raised snails. A man's gotta eat.

We cut down a magnolia tree and it fell on our resident lizard. Little fella would come scurrying out whenever we'd walk down the flagstne path - dart out from under the yew. He must have seen the tree's shadow as it fell and came to greet. I feel very bad. First that beautiful magnolia and then the blue and silver mimi dinosaur. Well, will put a memory garden there.
Cooked all morning. Ham/egg/potato/onion Breakfast, white clam sauce for pasta dinner. Tomato sauce for eggpant parmigian. Pork loin cut, pounded, and breaded for cutlets. And put up a bunch sweet corn yankee style. That will be it for week. Sandwiches from leftovers. If i get bored, I'll fix pancakes with fried yellow peaches.

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

Sounds like you were run hard elfie. Maybe tomorrow better. Hope you ate some good pizza.

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

I am going to bed - with pharmaceutical assistance. The mosquito bites (feet and back of heel and behind knee )-> h o r r i d. Driving me so nuts-- leaking goop. Ugh. Bit thru a dress and leggins. Did have flip flops on so feet deserved.
Night all!

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

When like that with me , use to take a nightime tylenol and sleep . Of course when I woke up ,my hair was the same and often my feet still hurt .just a thought , relax , Tomorrow will come...

Benadryl works wonders for the itching. Also spicy food. Not sure why but it really works. Also puts me to sleep. Which I really need right now.

And I was a good girl,, and did not even eat one single slice of pizza. But I am freezing several for when Goober and Gryphon get here next week ss they will eat it day and night...lol

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

All this talk of food makes me think about .....food.

It's always on my mind these days. Just now in particular verifying the my kidney dog cannot eat the home mAde concoction that I hoped would be comparable to TH prescription formula sold at the vet's office for $3.05/can. O well. Right now we want a healthy dog.

Elfie, please remind me no pizzA for snoopy.

About that mean domino 's man, maybe you should switch to papa? Did ralphie do okay on that inspection? Did he get that giant bonus? Or is standing all day in the park hawking pizza some sort of punishment? Hope sleep brings you and Rosie both some relief.

Rosie so sorry bout your resident lizard. A memory garden would be a beautiful tribute to your little friend. don't know how it managed to put itself right in the path. :/

The mosquitoes seem much worse this year. One night I came in last week and I was literally afire. In a way I was amazed because that must be what poison ivy feels like. I don't bother with benadryl anymore. The itch goes away faster than it would take for the med to be effective, and at least I won't fall asleep immediately for ten hours. That's a sleeping pill in my book. Ack! Skeeters are why I wear long sleeves and long pants in 90 degree heat. It does help some.

Ug. Well, Ju I don't know what you are talking about, but that's normal. :D

Before I laid down for sleep earlier the moon was 99.9% full. I love the silvery blue of moon light. The birds will be chirping early and soon. I need more shut eye.

Enjoy the day!

Toodle loo, Cville. ;)

Yawning and reading. Not because you're boring, of course, just because it's 4 a.m.

The lizards here have a tough go of it. Not due to falling trees but since one of the cats considers himself a chief lizard hunter. I don't know how many I've found without all of their tail intact. Grrrrr. Same with the shrews. Now shrews are good and not at all like mice. But the cats don't seem to know the difference, and I suppose that's understandable. Especially the mighty hunter ... who incidentally runs at the first clap of thunder. Yes, he's a big, bad one alright. ;-)

Off to get some work done. And now I'm hungry too. G'nite or G'mornin, all.

See the nice present I brought you, mommie. Isn't it wonderful! He was so proud I didn't have the heart to burst his bubble and a tell him it isn't a mouse. :(

Well was that Mothers day or Birthday . Cat's being cats maybe kitty thought it was a "shrew-d" gift .. ---- yeah well ...
Mine once brought me a" foot long rat" .. (bringing to mind ) "hot - dog"
Isn't that the "cat's meow"
Good morning - and that's all .. I can hear you all now saying thank goodness lol.

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

Got this wierd heart rhythm and Benedryl jazzes it up crazier than it is. Keeps me spacey and awake too. Backwards I guess.

I needed cream of onion soup. Looooong time since I used a 'cream of'

The can SHRUNK. Then I saw ALL the cans shrunk. I mentioned it to my 30 something year old. He didn't know what I was talking about. I thought "Ah, THAT'S how they get away with it." The latest Campbell generation doesn't remember those big 4 for a dollar cans! Salty as ever - some things don't change.

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

If it keeps on like it is , the soup cans are going to look like red devil ham sandwich cans . you know the little flat round ones about 1/4 size of a hockey puck..
Somethings never change , changing to less ,, it's called efficiency ..uh huh lol .

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

Yup. Pound of pasta is now 12 oz.
some get real bold and brag that it is the same low price ( but nothing about it being half the size)

And the quality........it has been years since I had a Hershey bar......the darn things used to snap when broken and were creamy ---- no snap I can live with but what happened to the creamy??? It was a lump of bad tasting sugar. Even good old Wonder bread lost its wonder. No gluten...it is crumbly. Used to be so stretchy.

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Yes breakfast will be a juice glass of soup (whole can) two eggs over easy will be the size of two quarters I don't even want to guess what pancakes are going to become ...
A bowl of dinner spaghetti will be the size of the appetizer plate ,,
You know it is because their all blaming us for being overweight .. 20 of the other 30 % that are underweight don't count .. ???

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

Right ...it is more like giving us an oz less translates to 450 million in savings at the end of the year. If they were worried about making healthy Americans, the food would not be filled with salt, sugar, and fats!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Milk chocolate these days is terrible. I'm a dark chocolate eater - and foreign dark chocolate at that. I've given up on eggs from the store and get them from either the Farmers' Market or the gal who mows for us brings some when her hens are on a tear laying. Free is nice. There is just no comparison.

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

I'm a wreck, folks. Up. In the night now with two sick crtters. Somebody tell me a Joke, quick!

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Well after the game and 2 1/2 hrs late ..
Would that be the one legged marathon runner that was disqualified at the hop.
Or not being able to find the bathroom in the dark at 4am ..

How about the janitor with indigestion at the bio-fuel engineering company that became an instant millionaire?
He sneezed to hard. at work one night ...^_^

mulege, Mexico

It's 4am here and I'm awake - again. Was thinking about you, Amanda, and am sorry to hear about the sick babies. Two of mine have been barking a lot. They have occasional contests with the dogs who live across the river.

We are all well except I have a headache.

It is our hot and humid weather time of year and we all go into survival mode. Lots of people moving slowly, if at all, and doing the minimum. I'm continually grateful for my friend Tony who works here four hours a day six days a week and helps me to remember and take care of the things that must be done.

Our new garden out in front still has some plants that are green and thriving. My neighbor Maria stopped by tonight while walking her dogs and I showed her where the basil is growing outside the fence.

Can't think of any jokes. Sorry.

hugs, katie

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Amanda does not want to talk with me anymore ,, I'm too weird ,, but that is okay ..
I am trying to name register my avatar pic . oh well , I guess I will keep trying ,
Trying to keep the mid summer blues away ..
The thing is to enjoy the fresh garden food , and all the pretty flowers ..
Some enjoyment there always is .. solice and some mind to study no matter what I am doing (if I can see it , being the ) oh well

Howdy-doodie, fellow owlets. Got up to use "the litterbox" and am now wide awake. *sigh*...........guess I will go back to bed, put my earphones in and listen to the soothing sounds of the ocean waves on my iPod.

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Maybe the ocean soothed you all back to sleep?

Wow!! Chatty bunch!! The things we think of in the middle of the night. That's me in the greenhouse with the flashlight!!!!!

Good morning arejay. :)

That's a fine picture of you in the greenhouse. I didn't know that you had one,but now that I do I hafta know what do you grow? I guess up there in ME you could be doing hothouse tomatoes and all that. I noticed that you posted in broad daylight though in the photo it was pitch black. I would have asked you sooner but for the imaginary night owl hours I am sworn to keep.

Who's up?
