NIGHT OWLS ONLY - OPEN 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. EST
Good grief! I thought midnight would never come.
I'm pretty tired. I don't usually have trouble falling asleep. It's the waking in the middle of the night and THEN I can't fall back to sleep usually till sunrise. I then I might get another hour or two.
This seems like a fun idea. I'm sure juhur an I aren't the only night owls on DG. Welcome to the club! And thanks for stopping by. :)
~Amanda
By the time I finish this it will be midnight here, I took a nap earlier just so I could be here at midnight lol . Just as weird as I ever was
After midnight ♪♪♪♪♫♫ were going to let all hang down ♪♪♪♪♫♫
Good... "night OWLS" ....
OH YES , I forgot about pollinating tomatoes , I told a story earlier about a great white tomato that had not set one tomato in all the rainy weather . then the wind comes through , one tomato is on the plant now , the other blooms fell or were torn off by the wind ,,
the class is ; " extreme tomato pollinating "
" F1 Plant Shaking"

Hey just the group for me! Setting here putting baking soda on my fire ant bites...I hate fire ant, gnats, biting flies, and wasps...why oh why did I move to TX.
Oh Amanda great thread, I can see who else is up with the hoot owls!! Plus germinating tips!!
Is anybody up?
Just checking.
So this is my new schedule for the foreseeable future.
Awake at approx. 3 a.m. to accompany best dog ever out the door. Diagnosed with kidney dis-ease on MondaY, I'm a fright. She has been doing very well, tonight the anomaly. She declined to eat any dinner. So now I'm a worried mess again.
Good to see who on DG might be lurking in the wee hours. Cute, Ju, that you took a nap to be here. you were the one who sparked this fun idea. :)
I realized while I was posting the first time that folks to the west might be posting at 9 p.m. what do Night Owls think about that? I figured they were lucky because the wouldn't have to wait.
Tina: Thanks for the heads up on the bugs in TX. I am still nursing a chigger bite on my ankle from a month ago! :/
Arejay: you are up pretty late, I must say. Just wake up or trouble falling asleep? No germinating tips. I'm having a terrible time this season. Ack.
Not sure how long I'll last. Now that I know know you're out there it will be harder to go back to sleep. Having gadgets with tiny screens sure does make it easier.
Good morning everybody!!!

I did read about your Puppy I have a 17 year old cat going through the same thing. I feel your pain girl. I was getting up not getting to bed. Hasn't it been a crazy year of weather, I have been lucky to get things to grow much less germinate.
The cool wet spring we had screwed up most of my seed starting.
The waves of thunderstorms and their winds have not been kind to taller stuff in the garden. Last week I was absolutely shocked and then disgusted when the wind brought down a set of pretty sturdy shelves on the back porch loaded with a variety of plants in all life stages.
We're growing a bumper crop of skeeters, though!
I can't remember if they're a real problem in Maine. I don't remember them being after me when I lived in Boston.
Just getting up! And you're going to work in the salt mines?!
I'm here ... along with the three cats. They slept in tonight and didn't wake me up at 2 a.m.
It's very cool out there right now. We've had great weather for the middle of July but that's about to change.
Gotta go make a cuppa. Heck, making several cuppas.
Nitey nite or good morning, whichever is applicable.
Goodness, Carole, how did it get to be 4 am.?!
I have had to lock the cats out of my bedroom so I could ( wait for it) GET SOME SLEEP. Hahaha
Okay for those of you waking up on purpose in the middle of the night (you know who you are) what the heck time do you hafta go to sleep?
I haven't had a chat thread for night owls in a hundred years. Back when the internet was new, or at least widely accessible, say 1996, I found a group on AOL, and we had a blast. I'd come home from work too wired to sleep, and I'd end up staying up till 3 or 4 am. Not good when you're supposed to be awake again at 7.

I am dog sitting for family out of town . cat also mine was hungry , both of them decided at 4am they wanted fed ... Guess who they found for that .. lol .
Well i have given them their food , done that . having a drink and I am going back to sleep '
The new internet has only been since then , but there was a closed net during the later 1960's to the mid 70's
I use to be on the all night penny poker party circa 1980 -1982 .. I look at it as the test pattern .. for this now ,, Remember pre all night TV test patterns ,, now TV is in danger of becoming obsolete lol . Been around a while at this stage ..
My brother plays poker online. I've never caught on to the game.
It's 3 am here. I used to have a chat group in the night as well. Seems like eons ago. Just as well, I guess. Everything has its time and season. Last night I fell asleep at 7 pm so I got enough sleep, at least for one night(!).
Gotta go catch up on emails. A lot of my old friends are out on the west coast and they are awake after I've gone to sleep. Or something like that. Anyway, two hours earlier than me.
Back later, or would that be earlier. ;-
Yes, you do go way back. What are you drinking at 4 am?
Arejay- I wanted to mention before I go back to sleep or the bar closes or I stand up and get my own cuppa:
Massage, acupressure, acupuncture, and just brushing the coat of the animal is supposed to be beneficial to the animal. The skin plays an important part in ridding the body of toxins and stimulating it (is the skin considered an organ in this context?) is reported to benefit animals with kidney dis- ease.
Holy heck!!!
A cross post at 4:30 a.m.
I'm in heaven.
Ju all of a sudden I remembered how the tv would go off the air at midnight, often the American flag, Star Spangled Banner(?), and then the very loud white fuzzzz if it went off and you were sleeping thru it. That as bound to wake you!
Gee that's great. Thanks for jogging that memory.
I'm going to work on Snoopy. She loves it when I rub her back.

Is that your conure on your head? Gosh, brings back more memories. I raised cockatiels in CA, had outdoor aviaries, and also had large parrots ... Red Lored Aamzon, cockatoo and something else I don't remember. Must go make that coffee. :-D)))
Good morning!
Water to drink not much fun huh? LOL!!! Amanda every time I see that avatar I start giggling .. Like having feathers tickling my brain ..
Well have to be nice to snoopy ,, poor snoopy ...
Back to sleep tonight until tomorrow -or is that later today ?
I think we are past the legal posting time for this thread!! But quickly I must say.

Yes Amanda and I go to sleep between oh 7pm and 9pm usually
Haha. Legal posting time? Won't we make up the rules as we go along?
I was busy editing my prior post because something Ju said dislodged a memory.
Cville, a friend's conure, but I had one. Well mom did, a Blue Crown Conure. Oh he was so awesome. Sure did take a chunk of my heart when he left me. I wonder if I can access a picture of him via this cloud thingee....

See you tonight?
Hmm.
You make a good point, but aren't we going till 6 a.m. EST?
If so, there will be Night Owls in the Central, Mountain, and Pacific zones who have nowhere to go. We have an hour to figure this out. I think there may have to be some kind of honor system.
Awww ... wish I still had a bird (or two). I had a pocket parrot and he was full of antics. Loved that little thing. I should hunt up my photos and have them digitized. Some are on my old computer sitting here but I'm too lazy to reconnect it right now.
I hope Snoopy is feeling better. He is so sweet looking.
Yes, I had never had a bird before mom passed, and I brought Tbird with me. I couldn't imagine how I had ever lived without, he was such an incredible part of my day.
Sigh.
I imagined up some new hours in the first post so folks all the way to the Pacific rim can play too. Oh no!! What about Alaska and Hawaii?!
I will play by my imaginary rules and stop at 5:59 a.m. EST because that is the zone that I am in.
I have enjoyed staying up all night and most of the morning with you! Carry on and have a great day! I'll be back tomorrow.
A.

Evening all!
So glad to see a Night Owls back after after all this time. Several years ago we had quite an active Night Owls thread. It was on the Jokes Forum. There seems to be quite a number of us here on DG who just are not sleepers. I truly plan to come back in my next life as a sleeper.
Thanks for the lovely photos - love the colour.
So who is up and about tonight?
Dianne
Amanda...I am up again! This is getting so darn old
Good morning, one and all. It's 3:30 a.m. here. Gee, not enough sleep last night. Don't have much to say so I'm making some coffee. That should rectify the situation. Just half-caff though. ;-)
Thanks for the flowers, ju. Needed that.
Good morning friends! I guess after yesterday's marathon I overslept bit as well. Have been up for about an hour tending the critters.
Even though we are about 5 miles from downtown there are several folks who keep chickens. Some of youpu know about my escapades with a neighbor's goat. Lots of noise from the hens this morning. Not sure that anyone still has a male. Too bad, we enjoyed hearing him when the young couple across the street moved in. I guess they got rid of him because they thought people would complain, but everyone I know seemed sorry when he was gone.

Howdy sarv! Sorry you're not sleeping well. I tend to burn the candle at both ends. there's not a gardener I know who doesn't love mornings. Then again,I have often found in get some of my best work done when all the distractions of the day have died down.
Hello Dianne. :)
I didn't know there was an old thread for us on DG, but it does seem we should have a place to hang out.
Cville, yesterday you posted a picture of a pretty cool diner. Have you been there? I looked it up. I think Michigan? There was a diner like that in the Boston area. Gee, more memory jogging. I'd really have to think to remember their names.
Snoopy's belly is growling. I hope that's a good thing. I was more determined with her fluids yesterday. She's really not keen on the whole thing. Better aim with the needle makes a better experience for us both. If there is such a thing. :/
Edited to say last call! have a great day. See you tomorrow.

Morning, Amanda. I've had a cuppa half-caff now so I'm at least half awake.
Yes, I believe that diner is in Michigan. I saw the photo and thought it was cool. I've not been there but to one very similar in San Francisco which is why it caught my attention. At least I think it was San Fran. But maybe that was the Cable Car Diner - which seems more apropos. I guess I'm not quite awake yet after all. There was a cool train car to restaurant conversion near us in NorCal but I don't think it was exactly a "diner". Gotta see if I can find that.
Happy Monday...
Carole
While searching I did find this one:
http://www.beachcalifornia.com/margies-rocknroll-diner-train.html
Arejay thank you for sharing your scenic views with us. They are breathtaking! I was wondering what part of Maine these were taken in? I visited as often as I could when I lived in Boston.
Up late tonight. Had the seven o'clock cup of coffee or two. Snoopy has me confused. I can't tell if she's coming or going, but for sure she's improved a lot over a week ago.
Who's awake out there?
I was just reading the mid Atlantic bird watching thread.
I saw where you'd commented there too. You're just all over the place!!! How many threads are you watching at once?!
I am up and joining you until some sleep meds kick in. A busy day for me, used a hoe to chop weeds from a new daylily bed and other sundry things. No rest for the weary, so I have heard.
I visit a nursing home on Tuesday morning, and when I get back, I have laundry to keep me occupied during the heat of the day.
Sure wish I found this at 3 am yesterday....or was it today...... I have a friend coming over tomorrow with yoga mats and yoga 'blocks'. She says yoga will help me sleep nights. I say 6 estrogen patches on the tush will do it! I have my intro tomorrow...what the heck are blocks??? I hope I don't have to sit on the darn things. Oh well...off to get a handful of almonds and then to bed to count the the overhead fan revolutions! Was nice to see the sun today here in the NC piedmont. I have an INVASIVE weed that I read nothing fazes and I want to feed it some poison---- but why ever would it drink with all the rain we have had......
Good morning ladies. My eyes are getting blurry by not a sign of sleep. Just from reading off the tablet screen.
Defoe, sure hope your meds take you to sound sleep.
missingrosie, you are right down the road from me. Can't believe we haven't just bumped into each other before. ;)
I've heard a lot of people really enjoy yoga. I have too many critters who want to "help" when I'm doing floor exercises/stretches so I've never really kept up. Dunno what blocks are. I have a vague notion that they prop you up into uncomfortable positions which help you to sleep. Hope it works! I don't need (?!) estrogen yet, though my BF might disagree. Didn't know that helped sleep but I guess there's a lot more to learn...
Fan is going here too. My blurry eyes won't let me count.
