Praying....and praying some more...... and some more.....
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends..
Good afternoon everyone,
It's about 100 F here and very humid so I'm mostly staying in my bedroom sorting and labeling. I m very tired of doing this but hate the boxes, etc all over and all mixed up even more.
Mary. I love how you got moved. Especially how being close to witchy will benefit the new worker.
Marilyn, my thoughts are with you during the pre-surgery stresses. I agree the heart murmer is probably very minor. Doctors are very careful which is to our advantage. You don't want a "casual" doctor.
I'm sweltering. Wanted to let you all know I'm hanging in it's just too hot to spend much time on the puter.
hugs, katie
Sending positive thoughts, vibes and prayers to those sweet little babies. Also sending comforting hugs to Ann who surely has to be 1 of the strongest women around.
Well over 90 out there with the humidity worked in. Still didn't get the lawn cut. Other than the critters there is no one to complain though, lol
Take good care of yourselves today ladies with all of this heat and humidity. Drink that water!!!
Dianne
Katie, I think like you, think the murmur is not significant, but, will be nice to know what's up I guess ..
This pre op stress is for the 'boids' .. everytime my mind flashes to the OR I automatically do something distracting, the thought of me on that table with NO control over ME makes me spinny.
Doubtless next Monday evening I will be happy it's all over .. have TRIED to subtly suggest I want NO visitors except family, but know well meaning friends will show up and I'll be happy, and yet, wishing they had stayed home ..
As before in my last post .. we are dealing with HUMIDITY .. gag me ..
Tomorrow we are looking at 92+F WITH humidity .. am SO not heading anywhere, and, anyone living around Lake Superior knows that this heat brings on thunder storms at night .. hmmmmmmmm .. gonna be wearing a wee 'Piper Hat' on my head ^_^
Lilly isn't really that bothered, but Piper so dislikes the BOOMS in his backyard !!!
Have said a multitude of prayers for wee Adison and Alphonzo .. hoping todays HIGH tech equipment and minds can pull them through ..

Afternoon, been sitting thinking of all the turmoil in my friends lives..makes one appreciative of what they have..I often think my life is boring, think I'd best be grateful it is.
I thank you all for your prayers!!!
Suzanne left at noon, she had a dr's appointment, Paul called, when I said his lamp would soon be done he asked how I felt at repairing his pontoon boat top, he's so kind to me I can't but say yes.
Didn't go outside at lunch but from all accounts of those who I've spoken with it's extremely hot/humid much like you all are experiencing.
I also Dianne did not cut my grass, didn't look too long and with this heat best leave it as it is or it will be completely burnt.
"M" did they say how long you might have to stay in the hospital? Is it the same hospital you worked at that you might know some of the staff? Perhaps not at first you will not want visitors but am sure after a few days you'll be anxious to see them to pass the time of day. Will you have your ipad, can one get connections in the hospital? so many questions
Katie, lots of liquids and don't over extend yourself, you are just starting to feel better, hate to see you relapse..the organizing and purging can be done another day.
Sending lots of prayers too Betty!
what I lsearned tody was not to drop a pick axe on my foot.
I have inhaled so much dust I think I should stick the vacuum down my throat. This is exhausting and frustrating but I'm determined to do it right. I have a few fabrics from the 60's!!!s. My mind is a blur now and I'm getting a rash - probably from both heat and dust. I'm going to soak in my outdoor tub. This time of year I get a hot bath; that's how high our temperatures are. I need to run the hose water (which is warm) to cool off the tub. Life in the subtropics.
I forced myself to stop sorting, dump all the leftovers on one garbage can and stop, at least until after my bath.
Prayers for the little babies.
M, all I can say is that you have company. Both in understanding the pre-op jitters and not handling heat/humidity well.
Betty, I am listening and obeying.
hugs, katie
Good girl Katie, nobody ever listens to me, glad you are!
Soak, soak, soak, add some bubbles and scrub that dust off..do you wear a surgical mask?
Kathy, omg what did you do? no, pick ax is meant for something else not your foot. any bruises, cuts? Ouch must have hurt..like all of us were you doing something you should not have been trying to do?
Still no news, know Ann can't be calling every hour but it makes for a nail hitting day.
got some pictures of my leaves, and some other garden delights. they are on my phone. so typing first. then will post.
water hyacinth in one of the ponds.
elephant ears
lillies trying to hide from the rain
strange ?? plant growing out of geranium pot?? any body know what it is??
more elephants , could almost cover up with them...
Anxious Thunder to see photo's
Playing lazy tonight getting to be a habit for me
sorry they are all sideways.
got one of underside of leaves
butterflies in my front yard
Great veins, perfect for what you want to do..do you have an area that has sand or earth you can work in..love the butterfly photo..
sure I could come up with a spot, could always buy some potting soil or play sand if I had to. do you just use cement mix? or is there some sort of recipe, adding peat moss?? or something??
made a bird bath a long time ago with cement and something??? don't remember the recipe. it is a big shallow bowl that rests on the ground. not on a stand.
Thunder it all depends on what you are making, is it stepping stones or are you trying to do the waterfall leaves?
Hello To All;
Beautiful pics.... Thunder... if you are missing some of that water hycinth you'll know I stopped by :o)
Isn't that a canna lily in the pot ? We have a variety that never flowers but is so pretty and hubs says it is a wild canna....
Katie - sounds like you need to STOP! slow down gal... if you get yourself sick you'll be upset... Thanks for liking my strategy with witchypoo !
I'm so sorry everyone is having to put up with the humidity.... it can be difficult I'm sure if you're not used to it...
Had a coughing spell today. Was stressed... not sure what triggered it... makes me feel like I'm regressing
Hugs
Mary
water fall
Morning all,
Been out in the garden watering, not sure why, it's so humid that the ground is already wet..it's going to be a hot one, did ask for it when it was a blizzard out there this past winter!
No news from Ann, hooe there is an update today.
Thunder, depended ending how big you want your waterfall leaves will determine how much cement you will need..if you don't want to start it for a week or so I can send sips me fiberglass fibers to add, Rita got me some, looks like cotton candy but does add strength. perhaps in your area with not having snow/ice it's not necessary..maybe you hubby will have a few thoughts of what you could add..I.e. chicken wire cut up
What you will wants to do is build sand/ earth to the size of your leaf, how deep your leaf will be is determined by how high your mound is, when making this mound you should visualize what it would look like if you were able to pick up the mound and turn it ober..I.e. you want at the edges to mound where it has a few indies/outies and a bed at the tip of the leaf where the water will flow from
So far am I making any sense?
To answer your question, mine was done with cement, stones already included
luckily my foot is just badly bruised. I was getting crabgrass out of my flowers
You are lucky indeed, could have done major damage..
I know allen my neibor was a nervouse wreck. he was the only one in the neighborhood at the time
Luckily he was there to help you Kathy.
They just issued 'extreme weather alert', great for those with no a/c
they open their doors to government offices, extent hours at pools etc making sure all have a place to go to cool down..even major shopping malls have guards at entrances checking and reminding people re children and pets in left in vehicles..stupid people, still some not listening
betty, you be sure to stay cool
That was my thought too Mary. Canna indica, Called Indian shot and it is naturalized all across the southern US.
http://keys.lucidcentral.org/keys/v3/eafrinet/weeds/key/weeds/Media/Html/Canna_indica_%28Wild_Canna_Lily%29.htm
The only other thing I can think of that would fit would be one of the gingers/curcumas
Good morning to you all, good thoughts and prayers.
How are you feeling Jean, taking it easy and on the road to recovery?
Much better, Thanks, Betty.
Still have a few minor problems/medication adjustments and lots of DR visits/physical therapy ahead, but all and all pretty good. I don't remember the last time I had daytime naps and was happy to be asleep by 8PM. That is very confusing to a night owl...grin.
Seems you are doing all the right things..losts of rest is what is needed..what are they having you do in physical therapy??
I go tomorrow for my post-TIA evaluation. Having a few issues with muscle strength/motor control and balance on my right side. It seems my handwriting is a bit different, as is my gait. They are checking for neuropathy and my memory recall is taking longer.
Hi Guys, home safe & sound.....stayed at some lovely places and got a good look at Coeur d'Alene off the main streets. still hot, today forecast for thunder storms.....which means forest fires......scary....I'm praying for each of you with your different challenges and as for me, I'm asking God to bless me with just the smallest bit of Betty's abilities...You do everything !!!, Betty, and you do it so effortlessly....I'm jotting down the recipe for your 'tufa....what I'm trying to figure & haven't seen a pic close enough to tell is what you used for molds on your mushrooms.....have you seen Wuvie/Karen's bowl she did using the glass bowl as a mold, then breaking the glass to get it out, has a little frog sitting on the edge??? I ACTUALLY found one of those bowls at our local thrift shop so will be doing it with the crushed blue bottle glass in the mix.....anxious to give it a whirl.....glad to see you're feeling a bit better, Jean, and as for you, Kathy, God answered with His Tender Mercies.....could've been so much worse.....My friend just fell off her retaining wall and crushed her left shoulder....she has numerous pins, rods & such to grasp the bones together as she heals....Dr says it will be close to a year before she's nearing 100% again....Katie, be kind to yourself, please.....want you safe & healed completely.....here's a couple pics from our latest wanderings.....speaking of, I finally found "The Wanderer" in a resin based sculpture on the internet while searching for Gnomes/Hobbits/Fairies.....I am putting my pennies together to purchase it, always have wanted one.....hope you can see where the plants are growing on the roof of that home.....it was just darling
Thanks Deb. So glad you had a lovely trip...such pretty country side and nice pics.
Beautiful pics Depsi, love the house with the plants growing on the roof.
Jean, good luck with all your physiotherapy and tests, can all become quite overwhelming at times.
Tomorrow I go to the physiotherapy class that shows us the post op exercises.
Don't want to go anywhere in this heat and humidity, dang me us 'Northern Girls ' aren't built for this heat !!
Local news states there is an outbreak of. C Difficile at the hospital I am going into :(
Hope it's addressed quickly!
Well wishes to all
M
Jean, sorry to hear you are experiencing after effects of the stroke, had prayed there would be no damage. Sending hugs and prayers and so hope evaluation tomorrow has some good news in it.
Deb, beautiful photo's, should have packed my bags and travelled along with you!
You could just get lost in the beauty of it all..glad you are home safe..
Recipe for hypertufa that Joyce provided and I use
Equal portions of:
. peat moss (larger chunks taken out
. perlite or vermiculite (could do 1/2 / 1/2 portions) but I use perlite
. portland cement
. few pinches of fibers (strength) (could send you some in an envelope)
I use 8" and 10" spikes so they stick in the ground better than wire
when I poured them prior to putting the plastic bags in the container I wiped them with oil, makes it easier to come out
you also need a hard bristle brush for distressing
will take a photo of the glass containers I use..just found lovely ones at Walmart that I love the mushroom tops that come out of them, love the look of them
You can be sure I'll be looking for acrylic vases
Debbie, how's the holiday going with Paul home??? did you get into that box of mine, anxious to hear what was in it?
Haven't seen fire ban in our region but guess it is coming unless we get rain..weatherman says perhaps late week.
Lordy "M" not a good time to be at that hospital then. They are covering all the basis, best you know what post exercizes are required so you can get them down pat..
Having same heat wave here..called the girls at my house, said it was comfortable downstairs but an oven upstairs.. wouldn't you know the a/c i just bought last year had the hose exchange come off yesterday, must have overheated and now won't come on..so tempted to call Greg but he and company are doing the installation of central air at no charge other than the unit itself and I imagine they are busy so not likely I want to start bugging him to schedule mine in..I can wait..
drats, called Jackie from Husqvarna, she said the reason that the Saphire wouldn't turn on is because there was a lot of lint in the bobbin housing, not sure I believe that, can see it would jam but not turn on??? said she should be getting it back from servicing this week and will ship it back..not what I wanted to hear but guess I have to go for it.
y'all can send that canna to me . I love ie
Betty, I am sorry for the delay and getting that box open. It has been a circus here and I am as usual the ring leader! lol
I was so surprised to open the box and see a beautiful card for me from Michelle also, thanking me for helping
get the box to you! Such a beautiful card she made!!!
OK, I have only taken a group picture because I am having technical difficulties.....you know I don't hand that well.
A beautiful hand made (knit?) bowl in blue, a really nice pen that is very decorative and pretty, an "everything" silver spoon that is so pretty and delicate looking.....and the cow pitcher/planter that is so adorable!!!!
And a card for you!
Debbie
Oh my. what a nice 'gift package' :-)
This is for Betty .. right ^_^
Heat is raging on .. had a couple visit this afternoon, getting married this weekend they are .. wanted to know if they could take pics on the property .. I have no problem with that .. has happened a couple of times before, and all was fine, except for the bride who had to go potty and chose the smallest BRoom in the house .. funny as all get out when I look back on it, but, at the time the ensuite BRoom was completely filled with lace and crinoline netting, AND, her garter slipped off in the midst of it all ..
I WOULD take pics, but, feel it's 'their day' and leave them to themselves .. NO DRINKING on the property, my only hard and fast rule ..
Started my new book .. it's going to be a GREAT read :-)
AND, I have accepted an invite to help with a Marathon that my Hospice unit is putting on in September .. I feel it's something to look forward to .. and, right now, I NEED that !!!
Off to set the table
Toodles
