What time is dinner Betty, we have not had a roast here in awhile, too got to turn on the oven, even with the AC running.
Sorry to hear about diesel having so many bug bites.

Victoria Harbour, ON

If I don't say so myself I outdid myself tonight re supper, ate far more than I should have, so much so that I will wait till later or in the a.m. for strawberry shortcake topped with whip cream..too bad I didn't have someone to share it with..

Kitchen is cleaned up, that is a plus!

Carefully took mushroom bases out of molds tonight rather than tomorrow, was ever so careful, distressing only took a sec because they are still damp..

Watered the grass, heat has been so hot that I can't believe how burnt the grass is, some areas look like a field of hay, mnot sure it will help but I hooe so..maybe early tomorrow mornimg I will run to Walmart and see if I can get bags of soil, perhaps if I scatter soil around it will help, lots of sand here..

Wow, sweat just pouring off my forehead..think I'm over heating lol

Debbie weren't there a lot of festivals in Bufaflo this weekend, one is just eats right, did you get to any of them?

Ahhh poor diesel, Sailor did well on the benedryl, slept a bit more than usual but sure did help..let's hope it works for him.

Your Farmers Market I think is much like ours, hurting and little there and what is there costs a fortune.

nice to see you post Jody, wondered where you got off to.

Everything was so dry today and grass isn't that tall that I decided to wait to cut it tomorrow or Monday.

Sat and traced all the paper pieces I need for the stained glass lamppost and decided It can wait till tomorrow.

Dianne, glass and lamp bases have gone up as well... The one I bought today was $125.00 then add in 15% tax and you are almost at $150.00

Omg she was on the garden tour 2 weeks ago, what beautiful pieces she has, did well with her sales...Joyce she also sold about 10 sets of mushrooms. She said to say 'hi' and hoped your piece you got for your garden didn't get damaged.

Trying to tink how many times in my lifetime that I watched Deathwish movies and still sat here tonight watching them again..watched 1 and 2 and now 3 is on, shaking my head, guess I like Charles Bronson.

Verona, ON

Is Luna bothered by the bugs LK? I keep thinking it is because we have so many of them of all different types out here in the woods. When we waded into the lake tonight after our walk it sounded like he said "ahhh" when the water reached his belly. We have to hustle home and into the house after a swim as the deer flies just love ya when you are wet.

Changed my mind about dinner and have a frozen 3 Cheese Cannoneli in the oven. The Local Farm to Home store carries some excellent pasta made by a local cook.. I couldn't make it any better and probably would cost me more than buying this 1. My first MIL was an excellent cook and taught me well. Hardest thing I had to do when I left her son was leave her. I stayed longer than I should have because of her.

So Betty how was the roast and veggies? It sounded so good. It's hard to sit down and enjoy a meal sometimes even though you know it is delicious when you don't have someone to share the meal with isn't it? I am seriously thinking come fall about adopting a senior from the village that is on their own for dinner one night a week.Lots of the older people in the village have families that don't live close so other than church have no outside contact.I love to cook but just don't do it for myself - this would give me a push.

Jean how are you doing?

(((M))) This sure hasn't been easy for you. Are you down to the counting of the hours left to go yet? Do you have a heart murmur or is this a new complication?

Timer is going, better make myself a salad. Enjoy your evening everyone,
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

What a terrific idea "Dianne". Kind of a meal on wheels for one night! Yes, no sense cooking for one but seeing all the fresh veggies I got hungry for a home cooked meal. Likely last me all week..if nobody drops in tomorrow I will make a few t.v. Dinners, usually I say I will then don't and end up throwing it away.

Went downstairs and glued paper pieces of design onto the glass, should be easy cutting in the morning.

So wish you lived closer Dianne so I could cook for you and you could teach me more about stained glass.

Darlene had a piece she made of a lighthouse, likely 8" x12", she was throwing it away because it had about 1/2 inch crack in the sky..when I'm soldering tomorrow I'll put put a thin piece of foil on each side of the piece, solder it and voila, fixed..don't want it it maybe someone will say I will take it.

Dianne, ticks and fleas are really bad this year. Even though we have the advantage on her neck she still gets ticks. Just hot and dry, makes them come out I guess!

Verona, ON

Well Diesel and I just got back in from a more than eventful walk. My heart is still pounding and I am still trembling. We were rounding a bend on Mosquito Creek and the idiot across the creek took a shot at the beaver that was on our side of the creek. It was about 8ft away from us. That %&*^$ idiot could have hit either of us, especially if he had hit one of the rocks right there. It is against the law to shoot across an open body of water. His excuse was the beaver was destroying his property ... well duh tI can't decide whether to report the incident or not. Lots of factors to take into consideration, if I didn't live where I did it would be a no brainer. To top it all off as we walked up the hill Diesel spotted a rabbit eating my day lilies and took off after it. The chase was on! Diesel always comes home but I am frantic till he does.
I'll never get to sleep tonight.lol

Arrived at airport just fine! Soo good to see her walk through that gate. Stopped by Chatt Hills to watch one of her students/friend in competition. We were to late for todays events but tomorrow will watch dressage and cross country before heading home.

Oh my goodness Dianne !!! sending hugs ♥♥♥

Verona, ON

Thanks Thunder - I'll take them gladly.

mulege, Mexico

Hugs from here, too, Dianne. What an idiot. I just herd the George Zimmerman not guilty verdict and am thinking about possible ramifications. I hardly slept last night and am kind of jazzed up now. Going through craft stuff - fabric, clothes, books. Sorting out lots for Tony's family. Should be able to start sewing soon.

Yes, Betty, I am feeling better. It takes me about a month to recuperate from a trip north. I'm happy with the work we have gotten done to insulate the north bedroom and look forward to more insulation on the walls. Meanwhile, A lot of things that have been just tossed here or there while we've been working can now be sorted, labeled, given away, or tossed.

I would report the man for shooting. Not to get him arrested, but talked to - sternly.

Max snapped at me three times last night when I disturbed his sleep. But today when he was awake I accidently stepped on his tale and he only yipped; no aggression towards me. He must have had a danger-ridden childhood. I've learned to be careful when he's sleeping so I didn't get hurt with any of the bites.

Must get back to my sorting and the a/c.

hugs, katie

Baton Rouge, LA

HUGS all as it seems we have a lot of hurting going on as of late...

Dianne... I am so glad you and Diesel were not hurt.... wish I knew what to tell you my knee jerk reaction is to make sure the guy realizes how stupid that was when it could have been serious...but I don't know all the ins and outs as you do...

Betty your roast sounds delicious....

Dianne we were at the farmers market too this morning our first and not last time there.... doing some "research". Learned a LOT
Also got permission to move from my desk closest to Witchy to a desk very furthest from her "Because the gal near that desk is a great resource for me"

So hubs and I went to my office after the Farmers market this morning and moved me. Whew.

Katie you remind me of my Mom.... she was a Psych nurse with +/- 7 dogs at any time and would analyze them.... LOL .... remember when one of her dogs chewed up my beloved shoe... Mom said "Let him see that you are upset" ... Love her more every year the more I miss her.

You see Max and try to understand his background and why he acts and reacts.

RE: Farmers Market. I was surprised that the prices were higher than I expected.. a lady seemed to be fussing at me about how much $ it costs to raise those crops.... I understand ... it is very expensive to raise tomatoes we know that.

Hugs

Whoa Dianne... That fella should KNOW the rules and regulations re firing a gun in such a manner.
Laws in Ontario are strict and enforced.
If you don't want to call the OPP, i would call the Ministry of Natural Resources. Totally unacceptable behavior from him
My DH is very involved in 'gunning' and hunting and fishing, so I know what is expected of a person who has firearms.
Gawd so glad you're ok,and, Diesel

Betty, supper sounds like it was great. Poor Gordon ends up cooking most all the suppers, i sit in the wheelchair and talk him through. Today we're doing a beef stir fry. I may try to stand up long enough to make sure things aren't over cooked. He's a trooper.

I've decided to start taking one day at a time with this heart murmur deal. I have had no signs or symptoms to make me too anxious.

Betty, good luck with the stained glass piece, and the grass cutting. Lorna will be out trimming today as hopefully the humidity is down. Man was it brutal here yesterday, in the 90 s at 11pm. The air conditioning finally shut off around 1am

Hope everyone is well, prayers for the little ones

Hugs all around

Morning, another gorgeous day!

Mary, clapping hands, ohhh to be away from witchypoo is worth a big hurrah..
Now how in earth did you manage that, would have thought that even though you said you'd like to be closer to.a co-worker for better resource that she would have put up a fuss..yahoo, I'd say you are making progress in how to deal with her.

Katie, seems Max is learning to be kind to the hand that feeds him..sounds as though you've mega work ahead of you. You will be less stressed out when all is organized, mknow I can only work in a mess for so long then start to get antsy and have to start re-organizing.

Marion and Kim have fun at the show today then safe trip home.
Bet Kim is chattery a mile a minute, so much to tell you about her trip.

Thunder, is it a work day for you or are you able to rest today? Any photo's of the little ones?

Dianne, think you should call police, omg a few feet closer and you/Diesel could have been hit. Stupid, stupid people and to think some of them carry guns.

Just vacuuming left to do, cut glass this morning, once my chores are done I'll, give them a touch on the grinder then go outside and enjoy the morning while foiling..that and the grass is about the extent of my day..quiet and peaceful here this morning, hear a dog barking up the street, will give everyone but 1/2 hr more than the lawn has to be done.

Lyndonville, NY

Good morning,

Mary, the stories of your Mom ....she sounds like an amazing woman. I try and analyze the cats, but they
just laugh at me! Turns out they are analyzing me and laughing behind my back!!

Katie, my daughter got bit yesterday while I wasn't home bye her cat. Decided to give that little thing a bath!
OMGosh did I lay into her. I don't think they are deep and they were cleaned up very well. She has appointment
tomorrow morning so I don't doubt her doc will put her on a medication "just in case".

Betty, there are fairs and festivals ALL over right now! Yesterday we went to the Corn Hill Arts festival
up in Rochester. DH, older two girls and Joe. Was very very nice and each of us found something we
"had to have". Mine was a crystal to hang in the window. I have several and this one just caught my eye.

AND....I took a picture so you can make a project! hahaha Reminded me of you and the ladies the minute
I saw it with the leaves.

"M" when you are up to taking back the cooking chores maybe Gord won't want you to. Great to see you with positive attitude today, perhaps it's something not to be concerned about as you say..aren't a lot of people born with murmurs and never health issues with it?

Know Lorna is anxious to hugest out and get the yard done, amazes me how it bothers me so when not done.

All windows and doors are open, feels nice with the soft breeze travelling through the house..hooe you are able to do same...if I'm right, are we not expecting rain all week?

Have the sprinkler on. Even number day here so I get to water..are you on any type of band "M" maybe not, could be you are on well water, same, you'd have to be cautious at how much you use.

Guess I shall get mobile before the day passes me on

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad you had a fun day Debbie, always nice to come home with something..photo of your prism?? Love the waterfalls...hmmm mind is working overtime.,saw some on Dg, did try with rhubbarb leaves before, they now sit in the middle garden dong nada as I don't have hydrop for a pump..wonder if a solar pump would work?? How much were they charging?

Lyndonville, NY

Oh and this is what the kids picked up with their finds

Joe/Jeanna a bird house, and he can make more with his tools, and also got a crystal.

And Carrie found a picture she wanted for her family room.

Not sure what they were charging, I stuck a flyer in my bag so will look it up for you when I get up.
I talked to the lady, she said they used Hosta leaves for those and another....cant recall name. Grr!

OHHH and you got a box yesterday!!! Will check it out for you if you like also.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Hi Diane, I realize you don't know me but several of the ladies on here do. That man must be reported, he is not going to stop doing careless shooting and the next time it could be a person or pet or even a child. That was reckless endangerment, he clearly has no regard for the safety of others.

Lyndonville, NY

Dianne, I am worried about a person just let out of jail....having a gun. IF he is a felon, at least in USA, it is against his probation to have any type of fire arm.

Please be careful.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!
Dianne I agree with everyone else, please call and report him! You were both so luck to not get hit!
Mary, so glad you were able to move your desk!
MarilynneS, I have had a heart murmur for a long time, and it does not affect any of the activities I do. The Dr.'s are aware of it now, and they will take the appropriate actions if any are needed when you have any type of surgery. Lots of people have them, and have no ill side affects!
Debbie, post your your crystal please? Love those fountains!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Debbie, would the other leaf used be called 'Elephant ear Rhubarb"? Have had people stop by our place to take leaves from the one HUGE plant we have .. wish I had the 'crafty gene' floating around in me !!
The pic of the pic in the pic (lol) is beautiful ^_^

Betty, we're on well water out here ... fingers crossed .. we have a GOOD well .. and, we sure have had lotsa rain so far this year .. trouble is, the flood we had in May of 2012 made the water in some wells show 'coliform' a type of bacteria that comes from BIG 'run off' .. it has tested okee dokee this year.
Truth be told, we drink bottled water or use water from the water cooler.

Marion .. sounds as though your daughter is heavy into equestrian stuff. My friend' Lorna, who lives with us .. USED to teach riding, and, as well, was an 'outrider' at Woodbine race track in Toronto, she LOVES horses and landscaping, sadly .. those days (the horses anyway) are behind her due to the loss of her left leg.
I hope your daughter has lots of stories to tell and, memories to share ^_^

LOL .. sitting here trying to eat toast, cat is on the chair beside me 'twerping' and I have a Westie to the left and another to the right, doubtless I'll end up with ONE piece of toast as opposed to two !

Best get a shake on for cutting veggies .. OH .. the Farmers Market here is UNREAL re pricing .. Gord has never 'spilled' as to what the 2 bunches of radish, 2 bunches of green onion, a red pepper and a loaf or Peasant bread cost him yesterday .. he goes to one here in Thunder Bay every Saturday morning come hell or high water hahha .. he loves the smoked herring or whitefish from Lake Superior .. anyway .. he did mention his sister was there and was FUMING at having have to have paid $1. for a hot house tomato grown at a local greenhouse.

Marilynne, I think it was the Elephant ear plant. I asked specific if it was the rhubarb and she said no.
Then said "we don't give out our recipes and information". SO, said Ok, thank you and walked away.

Will work on getting a picture of my crystal. It is a little thing...done in green and pink beads and a ball
crystal cut beautiful on the ends. Gives off great "sparkle" to the dining room and driving kitties nuts! Which
was my intentions. lol

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Ask Betty I'll bet she knows not only the plant used but how to do it. She is NOT at all stingy with helping.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Found a pic of the rhubarab from a few years back, looks the same this year .. JEEZE have my grandkids grown .. putting a pic taken a few weeks ago alongside, kinda makes ol gramma teary eyed !

Veggies are cut, now I just have to get my chefs cap on so I can guide Gordon along .. ought to be interesting hahahah ..

Both birdhouse and picture great choices..you will have to tell me when it is next year..

Guess you can't blame the vendors, usually if it's something I really want I buy one that way I'm supporting them.

yes, would appreciate photo's of what's in the old/blue/new and borrowed so I can post on the site..think mine is one of the last ones to be received, if not last, then very nearly last.

Did join the t-towel swap and they will likely send it to you, sure hope you don't mind..am sure we will meet up at some time, if not then you will have some pretties lol

of course you and Paul and kids are all welcome to join me for Elvis, keep hoping all will be settled and you will need a break..coming soon in a neighborhood near me..

wow, it's 82 out there, I'm not feeling the humity although sweat is pouring down my face..came in for lunch, roast beef on a bun and salad, might treat myself to a strawberry shortcake (and I wonder why I'm putting on weight).

Think I shall go downstairs where it's cool and get the glass ready for foiling, that I could sit on back deck out of the sun and enjoy.

"M" looking at my burn grass I'm praying it will be a rainy week, too much too water in so little time, imagine shortly we'll have a complete water ban.

LindaKay, glad they have the murmur under control, did think somewhere I had read that one must be watchful but on day to day routine it doesn't present a problem.

Going to the market is more of an 'entertainment' outing than getting cheaper veggies/fruit but those yellow beans/carrots sure were worth the price..next week one of the vendors said she would have strawberry jam so will drop in again.

took a few photo's

1. hidden among the trees is a trio of leaves I had poured years ago in hopes of creating a water feature..might go and try and find a solar pump..the little froggies sitting on the leaves are solar, haven't noticed if they are on at night, must check.

2L.ots of white/yellow..too wild, think this fall I will do a lot of pulling out..

3.yellow and white...too much

4. few phlox rosettes starting to bloom. am sure most will not bloom, mildew got them

5. back entrance into secret garden almost hidden as hosta's have a good year

4.

Beautiful family "M"
lordy what I couldn't do with those leaves..out front I have a walkway done in rhubarb leaves, used a bag of cement on each...look at the waterfalls we could make at "M"'s Debbie.

last of mushrooms for this year..all signs of containers put away,by tonight the remainding containers that have new pour in them will get put away as well..been a lot of fun and have mushrooms in the back 40 waiting to be given away.

what is ahead of me, some grinding and foiling..not sure if by the time that is done if I'll have energy left to solder the lamp, now if Dianne was closer am sure she'd help.

Love all the pics Betty .. as always (still) mine are sitting in 3 cell phones, just have to get at it !!

Stir fry turned out wonderfully well, DH was quite proud of himself ^_^

Have been invited to a 25th wedding anniversary 'do' next Saturday.. considering going, not sure how the wheelchair will handle grass. It's DH cousin. I think I might need the diversion by then !

Think I'm gonna see how many 'cheesy movies' I can find on TV. Betty, I semi watched one of the Charles Bronson ones last night, Jill Ireland is so pretty ..
Watched some STUPID movie called 'SHARKANDO' the other night, such a stupid movie, but, couldn't stop watching LoL

Take care all

Love the glass Betty. Have used it or something similar several times. Betty I absolutely love to solder. In fact I could solder all day long. Did you cover up the crack on Darlene's piece yet?

Frank an friend of ours for several years and we took the Tang for a run. He loves driving it and today was perfect weather. His SO has finished her Principal's Course so will be able to come down to Frank's cottage for a few days. She tries to pack in as many days visiting her grandbabies in Haliburton before they return to Egypt.. So Frank and I set off early to get some strawberries - no go, season is over in this area. No raspberries on Sunday but we found a place that had Heritage tomatoes. Delish! We stopped at the local cheese factory and got some curd plus I got a small piece of 5 yr old cheddar. I swear cheese is a foods group all of its own.

Hope you are all keeping cool in this heat.
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, now I know I should live closer to you, just think how much we could accomplish if we did..did you use a heater for your tray to warm your glass before foiling..just looking around to see what I could use..will repair it when I get the soldering iron out, not sure I will solder with the heat regulator or just with the plain iron..think I like the plain iron better. Wouldn't fix the piece other than hate throwing it away..crack it to the right in the 2nd sky area..

had my lunch, put my head back and 3 hrs later I woke up now mad at myself for wasting those hours, but, must have needed them.

Your ride sounds lovely..if weather is anything like here then it was perfect, add driving in a tang and can't get much better than that..glad you got to spend time with Frank one on one, sometimes we need that. Did Diesel go along as well?

have never been a cheese lover but seems of late I've been too lazy to cook so buy meats for cheese/cracker platters..last one cost me a mint, had cranberries in it, will have to purchase again..this week I only bought the strawberry dip.

"M" think for sure there would be no problem with wheelchair on grass, I actually took my grandparents to Florida and pushed him in the sand...do able and would really give you something for you to look forward to.

Some new shows on tonight, think Graceland is one of them, will try to watch if I can stay awake that long.

sooo Betty, I need lessons on how to make those leaves??? would love to figure out how to add something like that to my pond !!! I have some elephant ears, small to very large. If it stops pouring I will get a picture.

pretty light house.

Victoria Harbour, ON

They aren't hard Thunder, main thing is the mixture cannot be too wet or to dry.
Will gladly impart what knowledge I have..if used for the walkway I would say mine are at least 2" thick, primarily due to our winters..did learn from that is make them close to where you want them..lol

Wanted to do rhubbarb stepping stones when Joyce was here, got large leaves but then the aim came, was lucky that the birdbath survived.

Do your leaves have large veins on underside??

To answer your question Dianne, yes I did do the same lamp in same colors as a gift for Paul years ago, he finished his rec room and decided that he should have the match..

Am foiling, will likely get the 5 panels done..the soldering will have to wait!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

We are home, tired and exhausted. The weather was beautiful today, cloudy with a nice breeze but wouldn't you know it, Kim and I both got a little sunburned. Taylor (our friend and Kim's student) did really well in the prelim competition....both horse had perfect rounds but her cross country score pulled her down some in the placing. M...we have known Taylor since she was a small child as her mother is our vet, I lost my husband a couple of years before Taylor's dad died. Inspite of the age differences, the 2 bonded and sort of shared their grief together....it is amazing how much they helped each other during the next few years. Now...well she is like family and watching her grown in her sport is so exciting.

Kim hasn't talked a great deal about the trip...even though we stopped for the show...Kim was a little under the weather....came home with a stomach virus so it is call the doctor first thing tomorrow.

Off to bed , packed alots of activity into 24 hours.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Get some rest Marion and Kim! Hope she is feeling better soon! When is the competition in Texas, and what part of Texas?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Marion sorry to hear that Kim is under the weather..drats, not a very good homecoming. Glad you enjoyed your day!!

Managed to finish the foiling done, all ready for soldering, have the 6 panels organized for best fit

was just about to call it a night and Kyle came in, he'd bought an Apple Mac Pro Retna something..computer for his starting college. Chatted and chatted and chatted some more..had to show me all it did lol as though I 'd know what it does, not computer literate.

He just left to pick up Noah in Midland, hated to tell Kyle I was tired, didn't hurt my feeling when he left, now it's bedtime..

Hello All
Welcome home Kim & Marion....
Betty I love your yard art... something I could use more of.... LOL @ witchy accomplished the move by 1) not asking HER but her BOSS 2) mentioned I could learn more from the gal I'd be near 3) since i'm now the #3 in "veteran status" and 2 ppl have recently quit I mentioned that the new person would benefit being close to witchy.
I need to get you a pic of your plants in my yard.....
LOVE your pics your yard is so pretty... not too much yellow and white it's gorgeous
Deb.. you and Mom would've been 2 peas in a pod... Love your pic of waterfall... would love to see your crystal...LOL Don't think Mom ever attempted to analyze the CATS although we had them.
LK (HUGS)
M - yes I mentioned about the prices and a vendor fussed at me but they did seem high to me... $8 for what seemed 8 oz of local honey.
I suppose you are paying for the freshness and localness (word?) of it which I do understand
Dianne... I agree - cheese is definitely it's own food group.
All it seems I did today was try to put up fresh food that would spoil this week... our HUGE Zucchini became zucchini bread and spaghetti, tomatoes were frozen and became tomato soup and spag. Potatoes were made into a casserole... Dianne I used that cream cheese recipe from your local cookbook and merged with another. Hubs LOVED it.... Froze tomatoes too.... I'm beat.

Hugs
Mary

Seems like a lot of us were just full of energy today!

I was amazed all I accomplished instead of laying like a slug in this heat.

Did quite a bit of garden work, and also baked a turkey breast complete with stuffing! Had
some fresh broccoli from the garden also...which was good.

I had to do some moving around of plants and found my before picture of my wagon. Added one
plant to it today...but look how it has filled in in just two months.

Going to be a busy week, DH is off on vacation and Shannon has a couple appointments.

Sweet dreams all.

Morning all,

Going to be a hot one, likely not as hot as most of you are experiencing but hot and humid for me..heat and humidex watch on for the next three days or so.

Just got a call:

Alexandra had to have a blood transfusion last night, has infection and they don't know from where

Alexandro's heart stopped a few times, they were able to revive him..

Today is a crucial step in their survial, prayers please..we need that Miracle!

praying very hard for the miracle

Major amounts of prayers and positive thoughts heading east Betty.

After a lot of 'falderal and fiddle dee dee' I have an echocardiogram booked Wednesday morning.
Gonna be a busy day that day fer sure. As always my PRIME 'worry' is, 'where's the bathrrom, AND, is it handicap accessible" !!! Have found out that a disabled persons idea of ACCESSIBLE and a businesses idea are 2 very different things !!
Seeing as it's a hospital I'll be in, it should be A OK :-)

H U M I D here .. ghastly .. going to go and read and try and calm down ..
