Good day sistahs. The rain continues and on to a new chapter where the ark will be of great help.
Come on now.. who has it?

I was so looking forward to your meeting with Sue, Cindy! You and Pegi are so far out there on the West coast!! Don't give up.. one day you'll meet a sistah.
And why did you send that virus???? I will need a ton of chocolates to rid that!!

Sistah Judy, did you start work yesterday? Knowing you, it's gonna be a quick study and you'll be the perfect supervisor. Hope your meals are fixed when you get home!
Gosh, how many years has it been you've been looking for a job? Think it's more than 4 years, right?

Sis Kathy, hope each day sees you in a happy state. Don't like it when you're hurting internally.

Cookie, hope Bill is sticking to his new lifestyle. That man is lucky to have you.

Susan, I know this is a silly question.. but are there parades on Canada Day with moose?

Come on down Cody. Like Marion says, sometimes smart phones aren't too smart!! Kel has a stupid one too!

Haven't seen Lanakila much. Wooohoooo... hope you're not overwhelmed with work!

Pegi, another feel good day for Darwin is a big blessing! What trash to treasure project are you starting on?

Karen, I like to have a copy of that beautiful Dresden Plate Christmas tree skirt. Think I'd like to do one for my sister! She celebrates in a grand fashion with champagne and foie gras and roast goose!! Oooh la la.. poor me will be contented with fried spam or just drooling over what you and your family serve!!

Marion, LK.. I went totally nuts yesterday searching for online batik FQs and jelly rolls. I can't believe the prices on Tonga line!!
I can get four times the amount if I were home (batiks originate in Indonesia)..... but then I'm not home, aren't I?
Then there are rayon batiks. Hmm...think I'll stick to cotton for everything!

For all my sistahs here.. this is why I love you all!!

So very true Jaye....thanks for the little post! We all rely on each other daily. That is why we get upset when someone isn't posting for a day or so.

Oh I can see the Canada parade with the moose leading it......Bullwinkle at that. LOL

Jaye, did you try the Missouri Star Quilt Company site? Yes, Tonga is extremely proud of their line. What types of batiks are you looking for? Who know it just might be in my stash and nothing planned.......I am, after all, a fabriholic. Seriously tell me what you are looking for...I know no "p" colors...and that doesn't mean "purkel"

Funny but I was looking at my Dresden plates last night and couldn't help by to think of Helene....miss her input on the quilting threads. May she R.I.P.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, go to this site for batiks. Select a color, then in the drop boxes, you can select batik fabric.
http://www.connectingthreads.com/cffabric/collection_list.cfm?ID=117&intmedid=navBatiks
Connecting threads also has some decent prices.

http://www.fabric.com/quilting-fabric-batik-fabric.aspx
Fabric.com, and don't forget ebay!

Cindy, so sorry you not able to meet up with Sue. It is hard traveling to see family, then tell them your going to go see a friend! Maybe next time!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh Marion!! I'm not aware of Helene's passing! When did she join our Lord? I'm bad in keeping up with the sewing threads. Oh my.. you are right, one of DG's quilting and sewing bastions, that willingly shared her quilting skills.
R.I.P indeed Helene. We will certainly miss her.

I'm looking for shades of the least popular kind Marion. They be brown!! Lolol.. nope.. not purkle (have lots of that), nor reds nor yellows but brown!
Why? Stupid me asked Kel to choose a fabric he'd like at my LQS. He chose this dark brown, Hoffman batik as it's on sale!!! To me it's hideous, and not something I'll ordinarily gravitate to. But, his choice, and I do still have some smarts in me not to mock him!! Lolol!!
Anything to go with the bolt! Yes, he bought the whole bolt. This man doesn't believe in getting a yard or two.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thanks LK.. I went to thousandbolts and I might get some complementary colors from there. They're always cheap!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Helene passed the first part of May but we didn't find out until sometime in June. LK correct me if I am wrong on the dates. There is a memory thread for her. Yes, she was outspoken but such a grand lady about sharing her thoughts and advice. Another talented lady call home.

I will check through my stash and see what I can locate. The whole bolt? Yikes, my kind of man for sure. LOL
I think it is a beautiful piece.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I like it too Marion and Jaye. I don't think I have anything here to go with it but I think Connecting Threads is having a sale on batiks - not positive.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Barb, funny but as the years pass I think you and I do have some similar taste....some not all. LOL
So hope you get to feeling better soon and can be up and around...miss you muchas.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I found some from the Quilting Expo.. some taupes. Now that I'm thinking out loud, maybe I should use radiant colors!
No worries there Marion. Got to think like Kel.. he likes cobalt blues, NEONS and oranges and BRIGHT yellows.
When I'm through with this, it's gonna look like bright blooms on brown soil! Lol!!

Hope your pain diminish soon Barb.
.I found these on CT. Not bad next to his bolt.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Nice colors indeed.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thanks Marion. I won't want it to look too sissy. All abstract prints would be ideal for him. Why oh why do I plan.. start cutting.. put them together.. and then poof... I get bored!!!
Unless there's a deadline and that someone is depending on me :(
The intention is there, but that industrious spirit is lacking!!

When I think I have time to rescue that massacred RWB project, the stove needs my attention. Then I looked through the back door and realised the cats haven't been fed! Have three huge pans for them, and still I have to make sure the males don't stop the others from eating!
Oh yes.. mosquitoes were thanking me while I waited for the young uns to eat first..
Then when I walked back in, my indoor cats were having scenarios. Arrrrgggghhhh water and food bowls turned over!!!
Eyed the broom and felt like using it on their behinds. But they're cats, and that's what they do!!!

Have a good laugh Marion. If ever I were to meet you sister, I'll apologize to her for laughing behind her back.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wow, that will be bright for sure!

Jaye, here is the link for Helene's prayer thread in the memory garden!

Hi Ladies,

This heat is taking it's toll on me, I have no get up and go. Don't sleep good at night because the bedroom gets so hot even with the a/c going it doesn't get cool enough, the late afternoon sun hits it until sun down ugh. Have a fan sitting in hallway trying to suck cool air out of living room into bdrm but just isn't enough. If I had an air mattress I would sleep out in living room. I have a million and one things to get done before i leave on the 15th but they aren't getting done.....don't like this lazy feeling at all.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Don't over do it Cindy! Drink your water, and just do what needs to be done, one little item at a time. The rest can wait!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

jaye, have cried most of the day over kaden. they are in ny. and she is back on drugs. sara and I were almost hit head on by a texter.
went to the store to get groceries, store is jammed pack, with 2 registers open.
I went right to the managwers office without knocking aand said
"I know this is some kind of sick joke, righjt?" he got up, went out front and cashed mr out. all350 dollars worth after my 35 dollars in cupons. now do I have reason to cry?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry Kathy, to hear that Kaden is New York! I d on't see why she still has her son? Wish you could get custody of him! And she gets the help she needs!
good for you going to the managers office!
(((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Be lazy Cindy!! Work can wait... your health comes first!

Sis, you really have it rough today. I thank God He's watching over you. Texting is illegal everywhere, while driving!! I fuss at Kel all the time when he does that.
That manager is lucky you didn't bring a gun with you.
Now why must your daughter to that for??? She's putting Kaden in danger.

With all the depressing news around.. I am so proud of my favoriteTiger. Dr. Shaquille O'Neal just announced he would be building the biggest Children Hospital in Baton Rouge!!
All famous athletes should emulate him!

I'm here Jaye! I just read where we had measurable rainfall 15 of the 30 days of June, finishing off with 10" when we usually only average about 3.5". Be sure to row that ark past my place, k?

We throw a huge lawn party on the 3rd of July every year and we've had to postpone it to Friday just to wait for things to dry out a bit. Kind of a bummer, but still nice to have 2 more days to clean up the house and the yard first!

Nothing is growing. Too much water, not enough sun. I have full sun exposure and sandy soil, so this is the exact opposite of what my plants want. Well, except for the grass...which seems to grow a foot between the rare dry days that we can mow.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Kathy, is muffin your new baby! She is so cute!

Hey Lanakila, glad you popped in. Sure hope the rain stops long enough for your party! Make sure you take picture to share here.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

Michael bought muffin man for my birthday in feb. still working on Michael to get us a little girl

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I'm still poundering how I'm going to put the American flag on my shed doors. Now would be the greatest time to be an artist. Just too hot to go out there during the day. It has cooled down some with a slight breeze. I'm still planning on making some glass totems and doing some mosaic work. I keep saying that but I keep finding excuses. I have a doctor appointment tomorrow, finally me and not DH, and I'm sure he will be doing lab work. I'm so tired all the time need energy drinks.

Our senior center is having a day where everyone over 65 can see if they qualify for food stamps. We are going to be there bright and early. It makes me so mad to see people using food stamps to buy steaks we can't afford. If they would use more common sense when they are shopping those food stamps can go a long way. Every little help we get is so appreciated. How can I buy potting soil, etc. if I don't get a break. LOL

Darwin's black eye is almost back to normal. The eye doctor said his eye is fine, no damage done to it and the one that was inflammed is back to normal. Doesn't have to go back for 2 months. I was going to take my camera to show the doctor how bad it was, but of course I forgot about it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear his eyes are better! Have the Dr. check for anemia, that can make you tired!
I wish I could find place to buy some pretty glass pieces for a totem! No thrift shops here! am going to San Antonio on the 15th, maybe I can find a goodwill over there?

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

Beautiful picture Kathy!

Jaye, you asked about Judy's Job. Her first day was yesterday, and this is what she posted on Betty's thread!

I want to Thank you all for celebrating my new job with me!!! heheh, I'm still just as happy as can be. It was a grueling day.

lol this morning I can't believe it, but I actually slept until 6:30...lol went to bed the night before wondering what top I should wear, so I played it safe and wore just a nice printed pullover. Everything was right on schedule as I did things to get ready checking off my mental list, loading my pack with all the essential to get me through the breaks and lunch, my lunch and now time to get shoes on and wake Jake. Decided I better stop drinking coffee too, so not to be shaky...last thing to do is put the teeth in, right? Go for them and they are not there!!! OMG, where the heck are they...so i race around the house search pockets...sudden fear, anxiety the works...Search pockets again and the cup, scratch my head...good gosh, why didn't i just leave them in? Oh begging the please don't do this, sigh...finally found them, realized they fell out of my pocket as i was going around, eating my breakfast, whew...do another quick face wash, rinse them up and shove in and off we go, all with 5 minutes to spare.
Arrived to work 15 minutes early, end up waiting an additional 15 minutes. Finally my manager comes in and we get to filling out the paper work. this takes all of 15 minutes, it was a good thing i checked everything the title said production associate, I said I thought I was hired for the Supervisor position, he said oh I need to chance that, meantime i was filling out a form and I asked what i was to put in for the title, he replied, Production Expert, apparently that's what they call the Supervisors are the same as experts! He says ok, so well see you on Thursday, Friday and Saturday for training, uh ok? Were done? Yes for today, So I asked if I could see the work area and the machines...The one manager teases NO you can't, and we walk over...a few machines are different, but I am sure I'll pick up on them quick. That was that!

I came home and got to work on the rental stuff`...I rented the house for all of July with the exception of a few days in between and working on August!! This is good. Also talked with one of the original dream team, My partner Marge, and another friend about getting the job. Marge was especially happy that I got it and we talked for quite a bit...
So, now I am wiped out...lol, I was teasing about it being grueling.
Tomorrow I will get caught up with you.

So off to finish a few things before i go to bed, goodnight and again
THANK YOU my friends for your constant and ever loving support!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

coffee anyone?

Thumbnail by jordankittyjo
(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Me, me, me

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

In time to grab coffee only.. thanks Sis.
Bad weather's here, have to turn everything off.. later sistahs!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

The rains have finally stopped. Some sun and too wet for me to go check outside :(
I'm pretty sure my blooms are either gone or the petals destroyed by the hard pounding of the rains.

Lanakila, water and clay don't mix! That's what I have!! Been amending for years, and still I have to resort to raised beds.
Get those garden umbrellas ready for your party gal!! Expect scattered thunderstorms for Friday! Tell your guests to bring their own canoes!!
Kidding.. I hope it will be a clear day for you and no mosquitoes when you hold your annual celebration.

Sis, don't you have enough pets? Think.. Muffin needs all your attention, and if you were to get another, who knows.. he migh get depress!!
I don't do QVC and I tend to miss most commercials as I only watch what's pre-recorded.
Let me know how the juicer turns out though. How many HP and how big is it?

Pegi dear, I am with you when it comes to abusing food stamps. It makes me sick too, seeing how some healthy people have quality meats in their buggies, but will dole out cash for their liquour and ciggies!!!
Guess they don't have any conscience at all.

Thanks LK. I appreciate that very much. Always good to know when sistahs did well.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

sis, here is the website

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Maybe he needs a Thundershirt. That gives comfort to my BFF's dog.
