That is not good LindaKay, you certainly have been having a time of it!
Glad that you can get an appt so quickly.
Oh oh got in trouble..
Now you all know I've the patience of a saint..NOT
Thought that with Greg being out late last night that it might be noon before he gets over to do battery, I need the grass done now..so off to Walmart, decided to buy a new battery, then can charge the other and if I leave it on again I'll have a spare.
Called Greg to tell him I bought a battery, told me what he thought about that, told me when I get home my lawnmower is ready to go, had the charger going.Told me to take battery back as he is leaving the charger for me and no need to have another battery.
Asked why I couldn't wait till 9am in the morning seeing as grass is too wet to cut right now.
Then he says he'll drop in and put that metal carrier in the hitch seeing it's heavy and knows I want to make a canvas top for it to cover the suitcases..girls and I are meeting Thursday for supper, everyone bringing suitcases so we know they will fit before we are ready to leave and find out no room for one of them..another oh oh,
Had to tell him I'd already done it this morning. Lol
Got 'then there is no need for me to come over and do the things you asked me to do...unless of course you want the Foxy Lady serviced because you want to put her in the lake?? Nope not today Greg but its coming!
LOL...oh Betty he should know by now you can't change your stripes!!!! I can just see the look on his face.
You planning on coming my way when you start out? Can't remember if you said on the way or maybe on the way back. Still can't imagine why you girls want to go that far south with the heat??? Oh well, we have had lovely weather the last couple of days. A few showers popped up, but it's been in the mid 70's so I can take the showers. Even low 60's last night.
I got a couple hours in the garden yesterday. Have a shrub I want to plant, but had some dianthus that only blooms once and then is done for the season and it had gotten really big, so I started pulling it since that's where I want to put the shrub. Emma (DGD, 11) helped me. She's so cute. She said Nana, you really should take care of these weeds....ah Emma, if it was only that easy.....
Have to be at the funeral home at 3:30 today. Visitation starts at 4:00. Lots of family came in yesterday. Maine, Vermont, Virginia, S. Carolina and Massachusetts. Arizona is arriving today and another Virginia. We're expecting a lot of people tonight.
Hope you get that bobcat, Sissy. When you've finished with him, come take care of the heron that thinks my pond is a smorgasbord!
Guess I'll try to get a couple hours in the garden before I have to clean up for tonight. Have a lovely day, all.
Oh no Joyce!! Don't have Sissy come take care of the heron, please. Ship him to me and he can live his life out on the lake with the others here....luvs herons!!! Do understand what they can do to a pond with fish though.
Sending hugs and prayers for you, Bill and all the family.
Betty, now why wasn't I surprised to read what you did......lol. Yeap, Joyce is right...you can't change your stripes.
House is very quiet this morning......missing Kim but she is off on a wonderful adventure as it should be. Don't envy her the intensive classes she will be having but it is all to better herself in her chosen field.
We saw this incredible plant at a local nursery the other day. I wanted to buy one but was told it is a "test" plant hopefully to be on the market next year. They said they had tried to root cuttings to have other gardeners in the area see how it did for them under various conditions. It didn't root so I didn't get any to try. Let me get my pictures adjusted and will post. I foresee a really popular plant selling when it becomes available.
Hi all
Don't know how those of you in the southern States handle that heat!
It's going to be over 80F here today and I have the air all set to come on.
Betty, I'd keep the extra battery, you never know LOL
Gord took the two dogs for their check ups, yearly, this morning. Shots, and sweet, saintly Lilly copped an attitude when the Vet checked her ears. Had to muzzle her!!
These Westies are wonderful pets, but, stubborn!
He brought me a coffee and a muffin home. Eating the muffin, piece of one of my teeth fell off!
Gads always something, I had a perfect check up 2weeks ago.
Not easy going to appointments in the wheelchair. :(
Murray and family will be coming over later. I am going to help his wife Alison with the obituary for the young girl who committed suicide. She had been bullied as she was chubby... Just too sad.
Enjoy your day everyone
M
That is so sad indeed about the girl. I have a daughter who was overweight and tall too. Her high school years were miserable but her size didn't stop her! Saying prayers for the family.
Joyce, know working in your gardens helped with the stress of the past few and the next few days..always feel more at piece when in the gardens.
"M" that is more than tragic, I hope in the schools it gets some attention re bullying, to many times it's left as the norm, shouldn't be..hug those grandchildren tight, am sure they need their grandma. Drats, another visit to dentist..so glad I can take mine out and send them in if need be lol
Marion, won't it be exciting when Kim returns to hear all about her adventures.
Got to tell you, just went out to do grass, wouldn't start grrrr not even a sound..called Greg and asked if I should put new battery in, perhaps old one isn't doing the trick, told me he had it going when he put charger on, just don't know??
He and Mel are about 100 miles away, took the spider out seeng it's a sunshine day.
Greg said ' mom I'd say when I get home I'll come over and put new one on but I know you won't wait that long so good luck with changing it..
Smart aleck kid
Thunder is getting louder and the dark clouds are gathering. I think it just might rain!!!!
I can only imagine the stories I will hear when Kim gets home. The good, the bad and the funny.
Debbie, it must have worked as we are definitely getting rain. Good job even with a broken toe. :-) Could you atleast have keep the thunder and lightning? Just the rain please.
M, may God guide you......my heart just broke reading this......I can't imagine this families pain......I have a grandson that has Treacher-Collins Syndrome (Google it and you'll see what I'm talking about).....He just graduated from HS and was an Advanced Graduate with a scholarship until 6 wks before the school end.....He dropped everything.....from a 3.0 and better grade point average to in danger of not graduating was puzzling and crazy.....He had little to say to anyone including school people + his family, He did finally graduate but lost his scholarship, etc and the party we gave him afterward he was angry, defiant and flat hateful.......there were people including ourselves that came long distances to celebrate with him and it was just plain sad......His mother, our daughter, is a tech in a lockdown facility for adolescents and pre-teens at risk in NV so she is trained to follow this....she is also a single parent trying to hold on to her home so works double shifts and weekends leaving Sean alone alot....way more than should be......his dad is more or less absent except when he wants to be.....quit paying child support and of course now is not obligated since Sean is 18......anyway, I believe Sean knows what awaits him outside of his comfort zone of kids he's grown up with, the ability to hide in his room and be on his computer.....anyway, didn't mean to write a book, just musing about suicide and children that feel they have nowhere to go, pic is of Sean & I graduation day
Debbie, what gorgeous flowers, hope you are sitting outside resting your foot and enjoying such beauty. If your weather is like m one then it's almost perfect.
Deb, going to read up on the syndrome, like Kyle I'm sure Sean is courageous battling with his emotions with adults/youth who just don't understand.thanks for sharing a photo, another tall young man, what on earth are they feeding these kids?? Lol. Love the photo, can see how proud you are of that young man.
Let's hope his path becomes easier.
Parents today with work commitments , trying to provide the best lifestyle these kids can have don't have an easy time of it either.
Marion, hooe you will share some of the stories.
I too am doing happy dance but not for rain..got my grass cut, oh happy days..felt terrible with everyone having nice cut lawns and here I was grass uncut. Will wait till later and do the weeding so that when I come in I can take a bath and clean myself up.
Beautiful lindaKay, humidity must be a plus for sunflowers, they are gorgeous. Did you start them from seed? Interested in the needle flower tree, haven't heard of it either.
Just did groceries, usually I get the necessities because I eat while in Barrie, broke down today and bought all kinds of goodies, thought I'd treat myself.
Going to start a spaghetti sauce and freeze it, trying to get ahead of the game for when I leave for 10 days, that way whoever comes to look after the kitties will have ready made meals..hoping it will be Kyle.
Yes, the sunflowers are from seed. I planted them Easter week end.
Wow, am sure they will be a staple in your garden in the future..lucky you have the fencing for support. Are you feeling better?
Wonder how Mary is doing, usually she drops in with a hi, hope witchy poo didn't make her life so miseravpble that she also is down with a headache.
Getting cloudy, lost some of my energy, ran into a bit of trouble with quilting so on the couch watching tv, now not sure I will do trimming, with all the rain have been unable to whipper snap the ditch, makes for an unfinished look. Hmm
Linda Kay, that Posoqueria is beautiful...so healthy looking. here's a link

Mary posted a picture of her with a bunch of ladies on FB....isn't her reunion this weekend?
Yes it is. she said weekend of the 28th. I hope she is having a grand time.
Hope she is as well, guess when she mentioned it was hard getting accommodations due to July 4th I assumed it was next weekend she was going. Knowing our Mary she will have an absolutely grand time!
Deb, read about Treacher Collins Syndrome and found it very interesting. Read a few pages on the trials and tribulations of a few ladies with the syndrome, to be so brave!!
Thanks for the link Jean.
Betty, neck is still stiff, I took a nice long hot shower, then placed ice on it for a bit. Motrin seems to be helping a bit.
Can't wait to hear how Mary's trip went. Hope it is not too got for the gathering?
Morning all,
Overcast but no rain as yet, will wait till 9 and get the trimmer going
"M". Happy Canada Day?.hope your bbq was enjoyable despite of having the tragedy looming!
Happy Canada Day to you Betty, Susan, Dianne and Thea and any others that I may have missed or not realized you were Canadian!!!!
Please pass on my wishes to the ladies Betty!
HAPPY CANADA DAY
Thank you Barb, I do live in a beautiful and free country
Downfall is we say EH E ERY few words but that is ok. Lol
So here is to. Oh Canada eh!!
Perfect Betty!!!!
Betty, I still have my Canada Day necklace from visiting you hanging on my window. LOL I am set for
days festivities, eh?
Have a wonderful day everyone! Waving to you all....will be back
Debbie
Canada is 146 years old today!! HAPPY CANADA DAY!!
BBQ. was great despite the heat, it got up to about 90F, air conditioning was much appreciated.
The eulogy is still in the works, the parents are having a difficult time with the obituary. My son and daughter in law will be back today to finish up.
I also read up on Treacher Collins Syndrome, quite an interesting read.
Wheelchair is free, best grab it while I can
TTFN

Happy Canada Day to all Canadians.
Dry so far this morning but haven't checked to see what is to come. Talked with my sister in south Florida and she had over 6" of rain from about 5 yesterday afternoon until 7 this morning. Everything underwater and she was starting to worry it might come up into the house. Not good.
Working on my list of things I want to accomplish before Kim returns home.
She should return the 13th of July.
Thank you, just came in, ditch, gardens all weeded, thank goodness that gas trimmer doesn't weigh much. Found a garbage bag full of pop cans, stero containers for fries, beer bottles all hidden in the ditch grass..now in bin next door and I'm feeling pleased that yard looks nice.
Greg dropped in, off to collingwood on the spider , will meet up with my brother Mike and SIL Kim who will drive their spider and will partake in Canada Day Festivities!
Saw me in the ditch, offered to finish it when he got back seeng. He was all dressed up, saw the look on my face so knows I would not wait.
Told them to let me know if they are back early enough to have spaghetti tonight..they will call.
Going to call Walmart and Home Depot, not sure if because we are in cottage country if they are open. Other than that I will put my feet up and enjoy rest of the day.
Was listening to the weather and they were talking about record breaking temps, hope you are keeping cool.
THANKS to all the US posters for the CANADA DAY happies ^_^
Looks as though another BBQ is in the offing here .. Murray and his wife and the 2 grandkids (PLUS the granddaughters BF) came over and I have asked them to stay and relax a bit ..
We have the eulogy under contol, time to have some much deserved R&R
They have chosen the Phil Collins song "You'll be in my heart" to be played ... made me cry fer sure.
Poor Lorna.. she has been at the prosthetists office for THREE hours now!!! All of it WAITING for him to fit her new leg .. she called and said to make sure there was a cold beer in the fridge LoL
Weather remains awesome .. glad you got some shopping in Betty :-)
Toodles
~M~
That I did "M", perfect day for sure, was going to stop at home depot for cement but a few sprinkles fell, got home and sun came out.wouldn't you know.
Glad Murray and family are coming over for BBQ, will do them good. Imagine funeral is tomorrow? Was she an only child?
Remember you are only supervising no helping, leave that to Gord and Murray.
Drats Lorna has had a lot of trouble with proper fitting of the leg, must be frustrating for her.
Can understand her neededing a few beers to ese the pain..yesterday while grocery shopping I was tempted to stop at LCBO and pick up a few coolers but didn't. Lol
Wonder if Susan is off picking up the RV?
Really sore from major cleaning, bones are saying 'you shouldn't have' but worth it when you drive in and see everything trimmed!
Happy Canada Day everyone. Thanks for the well wishes!! Its our 146 BD today and unless the news hadn't mentioned it I wouldn't have known.
Gloomy, overcast day here, no sun just threats of rain. There is a Canada Day celebration just down the road in Harrowsmith. Parade, day long festivities , BBQ and fireworks tonight. Our volunteer FD puts it on so here's hoping they don't get called out during the parade at least. Lake is very quiet.
Debbie and I share the same forecast for the week - rain. How about you Betty?
Thinking of you Joyce and your DH today. Hard day to put in. How is Bill feeling? Is he on meds for the gout? Warren swore by his meds and would panic if I hadn't called them in for a refill in what he felt was a timely fashion. I asked him once in a rather heated voice why the h*$$ he didn't call them in if they were so all fired important. His answer - ya ready? - because he would forget. lolo. I just about fell over laughing when he said that.
Judy when is your first day sweet pea? Betcha you are having trouble sleeping and will be glad to have that first shift behind you.
Mary loved the pic on FB> What a gorgeous group of ladies you were hanging with. Hope you had a great time at the reunion.
Trying to think of something for dinner. Absolutely nothing comes to mind. Maybe PBJ sammie. Food just isn't appealing to me at the moment - well things I shouldn't eat do..... of course. I'm right in the middle of a salt fit - I swear in my other life I was a cow and just loved those salt licks farmers put out in the field.
Oh Betty spaghetti does sound good. Off to search the freezer and see if I have some in there. it will be ancient as I haven't made any in a year but just might fit my tastebuds tonight.
Dianne
Dianne, we do a fairly quick and easy "freezer to oven" around here. We make up a bunch of hamburger patties (seasoned) and brown them on each side for a couple minutes, place them on a square of AL foil, add slices of fresh onion, sliced potatoes (white, yellow or sweet potato) green beans, and sliced bell pepper....those are the basics....you can add fresh broccoli, chunks of squash, etc. Wrap it all up in foil and seal the edges....we stick them in the freezer and when anyone needs a good meal, pull out, thaw and bake on a flat pan..The patty finishes cooking and the veggies add great flavor and juices as they steam in the foil. Since ovens vary, try it at 350-400 degrees for 30 minutes. The foil makes it easy to check and reseal if necessary....add 15-20 minutes if you don't thaw them first.
May try that Jean, sure taste yummy and an easy fix for some of us who don't feel like cooking for one.
Actually Dianne, some days this week are overcast but says no rain. Now you do know one can't believe the forecast, it's stick your head out of the door and look each morning.
We're you able to hear the festivities Dianne? Could hear each band play, then last night got to watch the firecracker display, celebrated without leaving the house.
Midland has festivities everywhere today, fireworks are at dusk tonight..know it's Canada Day today but parents who have to work tomorrow and take their kids to day care aren't likely to be out from 10-midnight! Little tykes enjoy it the most.
Debbie, are you sitting tomorrow or resting?
Had spaghetti ready to rehear, fresh rolls, fixings foe salad, strawberry shortcake and Greg called to say the we're still in collingwood so in the refrigerator it will stay..will put sauce in containers tomorrow.
Truth be known, glad they aren't coming because I can't move..
Looking for painkillers then the couch it will be, feet elevated ..shaking my head
