mourning, linda iz be here
Drats, gardens look terrible since they've been flattened by yesterday morning's storm, disappointing! Much too wet yet to cut, putting a halt to my 'to do' list.
LindaKay, think there are a lot of wood surfaces for painting. Sure wish I could get back into it. I'll have to tell the girls there are four shelves full of such projects to please help themselves..running out of storage space.
As I'm having my long weekend this weekend, what are you all doing for 4th?? Going somewhere, having family?
Mornin'. The rain continued through the night and everything looks so much better this morning. I just didn't appreciate all the thunder in the wee hours. Not really complaining it was so needed.
Betty, sounds like a really fun weekend in your town. No great plans here for the 4th...putting pinwheels on Ross' grave.....we always had an abundance of pinwheels on the 4th and I can't remember how it actually got started. Since his passing the kids and I have continued and now just put a couple with him. Might have me a hot dog as it is something we do not have when Kim is home. Hot dog and a fresh ear of corn.
What is everyone else planning to do?
Ugggg ... someone was doing a 'PRACTICE run' with the fireworks last night out here in the woods!!
Let 2 BOOMERS go off arounf 10pm and Piper FREAKED .. so .. I slept with a Westie on my head for most of the night ..
We KNOW the windows will have to be shut and the TV on on Monday night (Canada Day), last night was a surprise fer sure !!
As well, my son called to tell me that one of his sons (our grandson Austin) classmates was found strangled in her bed by her parents yesterday around 5pm. Austin is pretty shaken as is Murray .. not sure if it was 'intentional', accidental or ... well .. muder ?? She was just 12 years old. I am hoping that she did NOT commit suicide .. at 12 years of age you would wonder what was up with that ..
Windy day here, wind from the north east which means the high of 80F will likely stick around 75F and, I plan to GO OUTSIDE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am going stir crazy in the house .. see lots that needs to be done, and, that isn't getting done with me and this hip out of commission.
Betty, free entertainment is always a nice thing .. hope the CCR tribute isn't too loud. Back in the day I attended one of their concerts in Minneapolis .. couldn't talk for a week never mind how much of my hearing I likely lost LoL, but, it was unforgettable ^_^
Hope Darlene doesn't bring you too much 'stuff' .. there's NO WAY I could accomodate more of ANYTHING, and, Gord is a hoarder!! Send him to the dump and back he comes with treasurers (NOT) ..
FEELERS for the fenders !! My Dad had'em on his Pontiac Parisienne back in the 60's .. I remember the scraping sound they made on the curb .. better that than mark up the 'TOILET SEAT white wall tires LoL
Best I get a shuffle on, or, a wheelie .. WOO HOO .... not likely
Enjoy your day
~M~
How horrific for that family, not a wonder Austin is upset..at 12 one wouldn't have even had time to experience life. Let's hooe it is not suicide but if not then the alternative is frightening.
Poor Sailor, I will think of her this weekend, she was the same as Piper, I'd have to take mattress of the bed to get her out from ndernesth, how she's work herself under is beyond me..the crying, howling and shaking..poor dear!
Having loved ones pass on during holidays is difficult..hard to get belong it in order to celebrate. Roger died New Years Day night, always joked about Christmas festivities, he sure unintentionally put a damper on each new year.
Big plans, cut grass..forgot to turn key in correct position, battery dead, called Greg, he is in Barrie and won't be home till later today to come put charger on it, yep, said didn't you do that a few weeks ago mom? Hmmm must learn!
So a bit could be done with the push mower, drats bought it at end of year 2012' had it serviced 2 weeks ago and won't start.
Do you think someone is telling me to NOT cut grass..maybe I flooded it, I'll wait a bit and try to start it. Would at least like the front looking pretty.
Shhhh don't tell Judy, but while in back shed I filled to firepit with finished Christmas wood pieces, stuff that Grace brought me that belonged to George, wooden remote rollers, birds etc. kept a few as I called Suzanne to drop n on her way home, the cement walking stones is likely something she could do with her grandaughter and put a few bluejay/cardinal cut wood pieces for her as well, am sure Suzanne will be impressed. Lol
Guess its back to sewing room
the man in back of me told my husband last nite that he saw a bobcat trying to get my chickens. by the time he got his gun, his dog had chased it off. he told my husband he didn't want tell me,cuz he was afraid of scaring me. hubby's rely was, heck, she love to target practice with live targets. next time call her
Hi - I'm almost all better. Worked on the igloo last night. It's almost ready for occupancy.
We've had thunderstorms the last two nights. All they seem to do is raise the humidity but they probably help a lot of the plants. My dogs don't seem to react to them. They are vey rare here but the fur babies stayed calm.
Prayers for the family and friends of the 12-yr-0ld. What might have happened?
One Amma story. During one darshan program (where Amma hugs hundreds or thousands of people, one at a time, and also talks to several people and handles whatever is going on) I was in the downstairs restaurant carving a small watermelon into a fruit basket. I've made these before and somehow the handle always gets broken and has to be held together with toothpicks or something. I was chatting with the man who was eating at the table and commented that it looked like the handle on this basket was going to be fine. Several hours later when I wen up to give Amma the basket and get a hug she looked at the basket carefully and the picked it up by the handle, something she has never done before!! I think she wanted me to know that she is always with me and paying attention. It was an amazing experience.
I brought a jacaranda tree back with me (smuggled it in). So far our heat does not seem to bother it. I need to decide where to put it.
I've got much to do and am feeling much better. Must take care not to overdo. Found some t-shirts for Tony's grandson and a dress and some fabric for his wife and and daughter.
It is not and humid. This will be the weather report for the next four months unless we get a hurricane.
hugs, Katie
P.S. Dianne, I am remembering our agreement. When all else fails, don't hurt yourself!!
katie, Glad to hear you are on the end..these trips always seem to tire you so. Not going on another for some time are you?
If I remember correctly Amman is a spiritual healer isn't she? Your time with her brings you joy!
Tony and his family must be anxious to see what you've brought them as there is always something for each of them in your vehicle..
Kathy, you be careful, those bobcats are dangerous kitties..
So how are all you broken toe people doing? Hobbling around in pain today?
Debbie, we're you able to do a craft show?
No sooner did I post last that brother Mike and his wife come to visit..off to the parade we went, was just about to leave the craft show when I noticed Greg on his chopper bike riding in the parade, Mel was the Labradoodles as well.
Turned around and here were cousins I haven't seen in years, one has been battling cancer for decades and just moved here from Sault Ste Marie..your neck of the woods "M". Seems she wants to spend end of her days closer to her family..told the girls they were in m y bad books, asked if Mike was my son, heck he's miniature and young looking but he's 57..asked if any of my kids were at the celebration, yep this man here on the chopper you've been gabbing to
Now have grandogs visiting, Ned and Sophie will stay withme while everyone is under the bid tent having hamburgers and hotdogs..I came home seeng as I asked Suzanne and Lenny to drop by..might go to the dance, wouldn't hurt me to participate in Canada day celebrations..
Did buy myself 2 lovely tops at the sale, will be light pieces to pack for my trip.
Missy is sitting here looking at the dogs and likely hoping they aren't here forever.walk into town must have tired them out, both laying and trying to snooze.
Light rain happening here, just enough to put a damper on festivities.
Betty, I ended up going out to breakfast with the kids and then to craft show. Weather cleared up and is
beautiful out. No signs that all of that had been under water even at 11:00 p.m. last night.
Coudn't find anything that caught my eye but people watching. A little girl about 4 in a wagon with a huge
rabbit riding with her (real). A very tiny basset hound puppy and a few "how did you get out of the house looking
like that" issues. BUT nothing really grabbed me. Managed to get my foot in my shoes and am now paying
so going to take a nap! LOL
Debbie
Glad you at least got out. Likely you did far more walking then you should have. Nice pastime but always more fun when you can find something to buy.
I looked at the eye candy for you,Joyce and BJ today, ok maybe a little eye'ing myself as the Opp and RCMP passed by dressed in full uniform during the parade, would have got you one but I couldn't talk them into going state side!
Dang! Thanks for trying. I remember how hot it was last year for it, I stayed in with my feet up.
I didn't even look for eye candy today...dang.
Well I enjoyed..can you imagine I am almost tempted to turn the fireplace on, its cooled down, damp and I'm chilled! Can hear the tunes being played, 50's music.

Here in Prairieville it is currently 93F, 58% humidity so it feels like 107F...supposed to be up to 96F by late afternoon unless the thunderstorms crop up, then just a "cool" 94F.....
They say temps in Death Valley could reach 134F today/tomorrow and 114-117F in Las Vegas. Stay cool folks...
Katie, glad you're feeling better.
betty, I take the rifle out there with me now that I know
moonhowl, do you know Donnie and shaun. they live in prairieville
No, sorry I don't think so Kathy....we have close to 30,000 folks here in Prairieville...I am pretty sure our paths haven't crossed.

Hey Cody....just travel a couple hundred miles South to my place....you can enjoy a lovely heat index of 107 degrees....grin
Dark, thunder and rain here! So I guess we are going from dry to really wet now. Isn't there a happy medium?
Jean, I'm so hoping things improve heat/humidity wise by end of July, although I must say we kept busy and spent time in a/c and only ventured out in the evenings.
Kyle dropped in for a bit..when he and friends arrived at the cottage they no sooner got all their supplies in that the power went out..said they still managed to enjoy themselves.
Greg dropped in said he thinks it might be the starter switch on my rider as the key was turned off unless he says the key doesn't have to be on to get the lights, will be back in the morning with a charger.
he did bring me my camera so here goes a few photo's of Thursday night
I've never done well with roses and this year if I look into the flowers an odd one pops up..am excited
last 2 photo's were of my pretties laying on the ground..wearing sad face!
too funny, was outside for a few minutes before it started to rain, talk about off key, then I realized once I listened to 4 or 5 that could not possibly be in a band that it was karaoke time..lol
Handsome young man that Kyle. Know you are so very proud of him.
Betty, a little secret....the last two weeks of July through the first two weeks of September are typically our very hottest part of summer....and tend to also be the most humid.... Sleepy Southern days and "Hot" summer nights...grin
Thank you, yes am proud of them,Melanie DIL put in a lot of love and work to get to this day! Love it when Kyle visits as he does.
Jean worth the heat/humidity to be in your neck of the woods...
Tomorrow I shall sew a canvas top for the carryall that will carry our suitcases..told the girls one of them should soon buy a newer car, my little guy is saying "why me"
yes betty, a very handsome family
I so enjoyed the evening Kyle came and spent with us at your house Betty. Wonderful pictures. Please convey our very best wishes for his future....
Only up for a little while today - achy leg. Sending hugs and smiles.....
Love the graduation photo's Betty.
Well, we broke the heat record of 106 by 2 degree's. It is 108 right now, and will probably gain another degree or two! Whoooooeeeee!
Feel for you guys, almost like living in a sauna!
Barb will give Kyle your best!
Is there no improvement at all Barb? This has been going on for nearly a month hasn't it? Hate seeing you bedridden, so used to you up sewing new projects ig paving us the urge to pick up our projects.
Morning all, will be a sunshine day here.
High of 66F, feels like 72..68% humidity
Waiting for Greg to come charge the rider, If it is the. Battery by afternoon I will be able to cut, surer are sure does need cutting! Hooe he gets here this morning, would love to take in the Canada day sales happening in midland today, not that I need anything, just thinking I do
Just got back from Darlene's with a car full, big sigh, where shall I put everything?
Everyone must have had fun celebrating last night, only thing in the area out and about are the birdies chirping..

Morning Betty, been up since 5 this morning. Have a stiff neck giving me a headache, so,will make an appointment first thing in the morning to see my chiro for an adjustment.
Hope you get that battery working!
It was 80 this morning, but a small rain shower popped up and cooled it off for a few minutes, but supposed to be 100 today. I need to run to home depot, and get some metal plant stakes for my sunflowers, the heads on them are developing, and pulling them over. Maybe some rebar pieces?
