Good morning sistahs!
Have to have an early start to avoid the rains later. Got clematis to be transferred, it's gonna be raised beds for them.
I'd be doing the easy way, set up bottomless cardboard boxes for now to hold the soil, then later Kel can finish them up by placing wood along the sides.
If I were to wait on Kel to do the clematis beds, it will be another month! The cardboard boxes are thick enough to last that long.. I hope.
Sssshhhhh......... don't use my idea sistahs. Do the right thing.
Guess,.it's been too long since I last indulged in plants, and I want them done right away before the vines start crawling on the grounds.
Wishing all a beautiful day.. stay indoors if it's too hot or wet.
I'll be back!
SWEET INTERRUPTIONS # 260
Humid, damp and sun peaking in and out with more rain predicted. We shall see what develops today. Did a walk around earlier and found many dead limbs down but nothing major. Natures way of cleaning out the trees I guess.
son is visiting friends in Washington state, may also see some family?? hubs has three brothers, all live out there.
Hello Ladies,
Been keeping really busy here. Spent last two days helping my best friend (since 4th grade) move. Got to her old house packed up her whole kitchen, everything loaded off to new house unloaded everything, then we crashed ugh!!! Spent the night got up early next morning started cleaning cupboards, then putting kitchen together in new house. I came home with more stuff, washer and dryer, Black and Decker Jar opener (really can use that) nice makeup mirror, and bless her heart she gave me $$$ for helping. Her hubby is leaving in about two weeks will be gone until sometime Sept. I am going to spend a lot of time with her. She is having a lot of work done, new carpet, painting new appliances(my daughter is getting the dishwasher and side by side frig when she gets new appliances. She said come stay with me, we'll take a mini vacation to the coast ^_^ her treat.
It is going to be very hot today 105, I was planning a yard sale but not now, so thought I'd wait and start it next Tuesday and have it all week long temps will be in the high 80's much nicer weather for yard sale.
Those of you on the east coast please keep safe!!!!
So nice of you to help your friend, and getting all the freebies is extra special. Don't work too hard!
Just wish I had all that energy Cindy. I have discovered it is easier to help someone clean, etc. than do my own work. Our mornings start out gloomy but it really warms up in afternoon. Please don't send down any of your very hot temps.
Neighbor asked if I had seen her garden so went over and looked. She has a small raised bed and everything in it is doing great. She has a very small yard since they built a nice shed onto the garage and it is so nice and neat, put me to shame. Told her I had lots of zucchini recipes that I would share with her. I hope if she has a good crop I get a couple nice ones. I didn't have any luck last year, so it is just tomatoes this year. Going to try again next year, God willing.
sis jaye, I like the idea of your raised bed. next time I need one i'll try that
Went out for a few minutes to do some containers but this "fire breathing, 20 ft.long and 2 ft. in diameter snake" looked at me and well.....I've had my shower lets say. :-) Actually did see a snake that scared me but that is what it looked like to me.....then again, it might have been an earthworm! :-) Just to humid to be out very long. My biggest surprise was the hanging baskets under my trees weren't even damp. Go figure after all the rain we have had for the past week.
Kim and I have had an invitation to go out to dinner and movies tonight so guess I will stay inside and get cleaned up for real.
ya gotta watch those fire breathing snakes. I just hate them
Thunder, do you yourself visit that state? One day, I'd like to make it there.
Woa Cindy, your good deeds certainly was well rewarded! $$$ and appliances? And you weren't expecting anything, it makes it so nice when someone appreciates your help. I love you, but I don't want any part of that 105 temps!
Thought LK's Texas is notorious for that kind of heat around now!
Pegi, your post makes me laugh!! Good way to assure she'd share her zukes with you by sharing recipes! That's what I call a smart sistah!
Sis Kathy, that's what I called desperation! Last year, I had to depend on Kel for any yard work, but this year, I pushed myself to do it, no matter how my feet protest.
If I don't think of the boxes, it will be fall if Kel can do anything.
I managed to steal some dry spells in the morning, but the rains were right on time.. hits around 11 and hasn't stopped till late this afternoon. :(
Marion, I don't get along well with snakes. I'd avoid the snake charmers in Singapore, forced myself to cut the tall weeds with an electric hedge trimmer, so that I can see what I'm stepping on!!
The winds can dry up those hanging baskets fast!
Have fun tonight, and yes m'am, you clean up well!
LK, what have you been up to?
Morning everyone!
Not doing much here, just waiting for the morning glories to bloom. They are slow growing this year for some reason?
Looks like we will be going to Corpus Christie for my Birthday next week, looking forward to getting to the coast and relax!
Good mornin' all! The sun is out and the birds are singing so I have the makings of a wonderful day.
If the work is finished on the dungeon today, which it should be, Kim and I will be going south for a week visit with Mom. Then it will be home and I will start the last phase of the dungeon. Kim will be getting ready for her trip to the Dominican Republic .....yes, some kind soul on this thread offered her a kitty to travel with her!!!
LK, I pray the weather's good for you and your stomach won't bother you at all! Last time I was at Corpus Christi, it was a terrible experience. Ate some seafood, and had stomach poisoning.
BUT, my BFF's husband had a wonderful time, taking pictures of bikini clad girls. Thank God, the thongs weren't in fashion then!
I wonder who that is, Marion? Couldn't be me... I can't bear to be separated from ANY of my precious, well behave kitties.
Wish we all could take a trip together to some exotic locale!
My brother and a nephew are now in France, visiting my sister. Had a call from her and she mentioned that they had brought along goodies for me.
Imagine that.. since postage to the states from Singapore is so high. It's cheaper for Zi to mail them to me. Those goodies travel more than me!!
Oh no, I would even consider it being you! LOL
A trip together would be fun. I still like the idea of renting a cabin large enough for all for a get together. Maybe we can one day.
Saw The Great Gatsby last night.....had mixed feeling after reading some of the comments about the movie but I surprising enjoyed it. It also might have been the company....our vet and her daughter.
Another movie I have to forego.
I like Leonardo's acting in The Man in The Iron Mask and Catch Me if You Can.
Titanic always disappoint me, it keeps sinking!
LOL, can you believe I haven't see Titanic. I am positive it will be on Netflix soon Jaye. Kim bought the Hobbit as we didn't make it to the show while it was in town. Still haven't watched that yet....maybe tonight.
Marion, sounds like you and Kim will be busy traveling?
Jaye, pretty sad they have to carry something half way around the world to send it cheaper from France!
Lk, I will be going to see mom but Kim will do most of the traveling this summer. She will be 2 weeks in the DR doing an intense Spanish class. I will be baby sitting the kitty babies........and working on the dungeon getting it painted, papered and moved into. :-)
Kris has the fairy, gnome swap open, come and check it out!

I'm here.
Was busy with plants.. took a nap.. back to plants.. then nap again!! The heat is in the 90s and my breathing is getting more labored. So, I just catch more naps, in between plantings. Proud to say, I can work longer now. Thank you Lord.
Marion, have a safe trip. Sorry to read that you had a bad experience with a waitress. She should have just take that plate back to the kitchen and give you another one. Any food that's overly salty will raise my bp right away, and I'm known to complain to the waitresses. But I've never had any 'smart mouth' me.
Hey Cody, how are you doing? Hope it is not too warm for you?
I must have missed something. I didn't see where Marion had a problem with a waitress!
Morning everyone.
Cookie, I think I missed that conversation too. Your up early!
Nice and cloudy and cool this morning but it won't last long. As soon as the sun comes out those clouds will burn up, and it will be another 90 - 100 day!
It's only 60 something here this morning. The rain just stopped. So far we've had a little over an inch. Sure isn't like last year! We were already suffering with cracked earth by this time!
Yeah, couldn't sleep. DH hasn't been feeling well this weekend. Hemmed and hawed about going to the emergency room, but Web MD had him convinced that a trip to the Dr. office would be just as good. Just made his appt. He can see him at 2:30. Hope it's a simple fix. He's having trouble catching his breath. Can't even walk 10 feet without it getting the best of him. Give us some prayers!
Crazy crazy weather we are having, had two days of 100+, high 90's now it's 78 and had a freaking lightening storm 276 stikes!!! Lots of little fires all around us.....................going to Auburn this am to take mom to get her drivers license. The DMV in Auburn flunked her because of one eye. This happened to a couple of other ppl mom knows and they went to another DMV and they passed. So hoping this happens with mom, if not she may have to take the driving test and if they don't pass her, i have no idea who is going to drive her around all the time. I am a 45 min. drive from her and with gas so high anf my gas hog of car no way I am going to do it. She said she wouldn't mind not having to drive anymore, as long as she can get to bowling, yea right!! That's not going to happen she will go stir crazy not being able to drive!!!
wow you all in CA are way warmer then we are . we are still in the low 80's and mid 70's Take care in the heat Cindy. I can't wait for my CA trip !
Marion to funny on the snake LOL
Oh goodness Cookie. I m sending good energy for Bill. Hope its nothing to serious.
Oh the drama with the girls continued on until the next day also ! The mother got involved.... well we are just going to ignore this family and hope they get the hint we want nothing to do with them. Unfortunatley both girls have the same class next year ! uhg ...
today rain. no gym. may go later in the early evening
not much going on here.
(((((((((Cookie)))))))))) that's not a tight hug, but nevertheless,. sending you hugs. Cookie, let us know what the doctors say? Yes, prayers are said the moment I read your post. Hopefully all that's needed is for Bill to lose a few pounds. That would be the best fix!
Cindy, where your mum's living, is there a public transportation? But for your sake, I do hope she's able to pass that driving test if required. I'm sure she doesn't want to lose her independance.
Looks like the devil is giving you some unnecessary dramas, Sue! Poor Savannah having to face those girls in class, and I hope they 'mature' soon for her sake!
Sorry for the confusion. I read Kim's posting on FB about the attitude given to Marion by the waitress where they dined.
In my haste to get the words out... I forgot that not all are friends with Kim! Sorryyyyy.
Off to a late start in the garden. Hoping the rains will hold for a while. Be back.
Started to paint that wreck of a tin shed. It is a smoke grey and it will improve the looks 100%. Just taking off some of the peeling paint, not going to make it look like new, but no more eye sore. As soon as the sun came out and started to warm up I quit until it cooled down in the early evening. It is an oil based paint and have to mess around with paint thinner, yuk. Just wish we have torn it down when we first moved in, was in bad shape then already. Wonder why I don't mind painting outside when I keep putting off painting my kitchen.
well, ended up in er early Saturday morning. my headaches are not migrane. they are cervical strain, due to my degenerative arthritis in my neck. funny it took a new er dr. to diagnos it. he actually read my file. looks like I can't put the surgery off much longer. as you can tell from my typing they have mr dopped up on p-ercasets and flexeril. can't stay awake
Oh Sissy....wish I was there to help you. :o(
Oh kathy you poor girl, wish you best luck with the surgery. I had neck surgery back in "89" had two discs pop out backwards. As of today i still can not spend a lot of time looking down. When I want to read a book I have to recline back in bed, :( so I don't read whole lot anymore
my $@#^%$ rooster just flogged me again. he put a big ol hole in my leg. Michael is on his way home to choke it. this makes 3 times he's gotten me. well, now he's chicken and dumplins
Sure, I've heard that story before...maybe 3rd time is the charm! Dang rooster!
Sorry to hear about your neck problems! Sending lots of prayers your way!
Enjoy your chicken and dumplings!
Enough with the rain already! I was so happy that the season was starting out so well because the summers tend to get pretty dry starting in June. Ummmm...not this year. In fact, my veggie garden isn't even half-planted for my not being able to get out in it to plant! It'll be late harvests for me this year.
So sorry Sis Kathy, you just can't seem to avoid doctors! Wish I'm living closeby to help.
Ah... rooster will be good in gumbos Sis.
Cindy, don't stop reading! There are audio books now!
Pegi, working outdoors is much more fun anyway! I tried to do that, but had to run back in each time it rains.
Been wanting to do a strawbale vege garden again, this year, but somehow I'm glad I didn't get any bales. They won't be 'cooked' with all these rain.
Think I'll just do some eggplants in pots!
Lanakila, how was the food truck rodeo? Bet your tongue had a tasting party!
YAY!!! mom got her driver's license for another 5 yrs yippeeeeee lol
Jayegirl, you forget I am deaf, lol. I tried that a few years ago, even had some high dollar head phones. My word recognition is getting real bad this last year. They are still working on making a special hearing aid for me. About another month I should be hearing something I hope (sigh)
Heck Kathy!!! I would broke that rosters neck the fisrt time he clawed me. My mom had chickens. And there was this rooster that would jump at her. Weeeeeelll one day he got a little to close, and whacked him with a stick and broke his neck!!!! Was so funny she came in the house a cussing and snorting.....That S O B of a rooster won't be jumping at me anymore!!"
Got my cement mixer here. Now I can get my stepping stones done. Then we are going to tear up other half of yard and plant Kentucky Blue grass and make a cobble stone walk way. Of course I've claimed parts of the yard too, lol
Glad to hear your Mom got her new drivers license Cindy! Big relief for you both?
